Are there any similar apps to light flow? I was using it for awhile and I realized how quickly it was eating my battery.
Any suggestions?

Try light manager yet? Seems to do the same, also seems to work for our version of the S3 as well.

Good luck!
I'll try it out and see how it goes! Thanks for the suggestion!

Only blue/green/red seem to work.
Are the US S3s still screwy with the leds ?
I can get light manager and handcent to display some what different colors but all still have mostly blue tones. Handcent wont work at all except under "test".
I read somewhere that the leds between the different carriers is set up differently, like the AT&T version is different from Sprint.

Did you have the "always on" option checked for light flow? The option which allows the light to be on whilst the screen is on? If so that uses a wake lock. Without that checked my phone slept.
But on a second note...
Anyone know how to get custom durations set up for light flow?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
You can try an AOKP ROM, they work fine on them.

Not that I know of. Where can I find that option, I'm not seeing it?
So far light manager is working out fine. I just wish it were a bit more customizable to my needs.

I'm using light Flow as well and I have noticed that my battery doesn't last as long. I think it's very customizable, I have different colors for different people when they text me. Different colors for apps as well.
But I think my LED light might be defective. When I set a light color (green, white, yellow, orange) sometimes the color shows, but it also shows a red spot on the LED.
Is that standard with LED'S or is mine defective?

I'm not really sure about the red spot, but I noticed that on my phone as well. So far my only complaint about light manager is that it's not as customizable as light flow. I do prefer light flow, but I like having that little bit of extra juice at the end of the day.

by red spot, if you mean you can see what looks to Jr like the red led is lit, then it's normal. In order to make certain colors, the red led must be on. There are a total of three leds. Red, green, and blue. And when you have "white" selected as the color, all three led lights are illuminated. It's really weired when you think about it. But physics says when those three colors of light pass over each other, white light is seen.

Well that's why. Cause you have all led lights glowing, and the red sticks out. You can actually see all of them if you look closely

To all of you who say liteflow kills your battery, does it show up in battery usage under settings? Mine has never appeared under there. Also, do you all have it flash fast, medium, or stay on? I have it under stay on as it says it is better for battery life.

If it's using a wakelock it won't appear there, you'll have to use a battery monitor app. But why would you set it to stay on when stock it flashes without killing battery? A lot of apps have custom settings for the led. Lightflow is pointless. It's supposed to be "customizeable" but if you have to set it to "stay on" then it's not customizeable. I tried to use it but my light got all screwy. It's really not needed for cm10 and alike builds.

If it's super heavy usage it'll show up in the settings. I use system panel to keep track of my app usage, stats, and all that fun stuff. It does use more battery than light manager does that's for sure.

It keeps the phone awake after first notification that's why it drains battery. Still waiting for a fix...
Is this applications will work on S3 International LED notifications while screen is ON ??

I never noticed this until the lastest update, but the LED changes different colors for different notifications. Voice mail gets a green , Facebook gets a blue,etc..I remember my phone use to light up a rainbow color.. anyone noticed these changes?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
May be someone that can clarify your answer... all I know is that I use Light Flow to change the color of the notifications.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Which update? Carrier or XDA?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
The blue notification comes from the 1.9 update of the Facebook app. I don't use Voicemail, so I can't comment on that. SMS notifications are white (whitish) by default, can't change that without 3rd party hacks.
I configured Whatsapp though, to give green notification light, but you could change that to anything else in the app settings.
If you want more options for other apps, use an app like lightflow, although personally I don't like it, never worked reliable for me.

I have Android 4.0.1, yakjuux, Galaxy Nexus from Fido.
So far, my LED light has never lit up when I get a Whatsapp message. There's an option for light color in the Whatsapp settings menu, but it doesn't seem to work. I don't feel I need to download third party apps (light flow) in order to make the built-in LED of the phone to work. Shouldn't the notification LED work out of the box, without any tinkering?
Anyone else have this issue?
Seems normal. Have u rooted? CM9 nighties now has great support for led color notifications
My led was never lighting up for some reason until I started using Light Flow. I can't understand why would they give us a nice multi-color led and not use it nicely. And my god have I missed the charging orange led and charged green from htc.
I'm also using Light Flow and it works great, otherwise not so much with stock but the LED has always been a tri colored led.

Normal for the LED not to work, even thought Whatsapp has an setting for it? That seems ridiculous.
My phone is not rooted, and I don't think I'd have to in order to make this LED to work. Why even put one on the phone if it doesn't work???

So far, I haven't noticed any different colours on my GN. It would be great if it comes through the official update. Else CM9 shouldn't be far away anyways
I don't believe mine works, or has ever worked. I didn't even know it had a notification LED until yesterday when a friend showed me on his Galaxy Nexus...also from Verizon. So this makes no sense where is my LED how do I make it work!?
It should just work, there's an option on standard rooms to disable the LED in the display settings. Mine just lit up by default from first use.

Use the app Light Flow to control your LED. It gives you a lot more options than the standard Android one.

I downloaded Light Flow and I have the screen lock on and set it to test all the LED lights. Screen is off but phone remains black, no light whatsoever.
Do you have "pulse notification light" checking in settings>display?

i havent' tried light flow, but my led only lights up when my phone is ringing :\
Well, dang. I'm having the same problem. Will download Light Flow and see if that does anything. If not, it's back to Sprint. Sigh.
I'm using the full version of lightflow, and I've set it up so when it's on charge I get a constant red light. When I test the notification its works perfectly, I get a solid red light.
However, when I actually put it on charge, the red flashes at the start then nothing. Any help?

Open lite flow app
Goto general settings
Scroll down to enable charge settings and untick it.
Default is to turn off notifications while charging..... just sorted it for myself

I had that option unticked already. I ended up clearing the data for the app and set the notification again it worked
What's your set up like?
Mine is :
Green flash for missed calls and texts
Blue flash for emails
Red flash for low battery
Orange solid for charging
Green solid for charged
Yellow flash for ebay
White flash for sport score updates
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yeah, I used handcent for a while on my previous phone, so I always stick with blue for sms.
It was also an HTC, so green for email seems natural to me.
Then I just chose red for missed calls. (nice RGB combo )
I use cnstant on, no flash, for all notifications, cycling multiple on a medium pace, so I can easily see anything important at a glance... flashing individual notifications seems a bit of a waste, and distracting.
I did set up orange for charging, and white for fully charged, but was a little shocked waking up last night to see the white notification actually lights up the room pretty well.... so I think I might change fully charged notification to a slightly less intrusive colour
I'd recommend green for fully charged, I think it makes the most sense

Anyone get Light Flow and Go SMS working together? I can't get the notification LED to work whether it's using GO SMS's built in "blinking LED" function or using Light Flow.
When attempting to use light flow, I turn off the "blinking LED" option in Go SMS. I've also tried using the alternate monitoring options.
Still not working.
EDIT: Well, I ended up uninstalling Light Flow. Notification light works again. I just can't customize the LED color. Guess I'll have to wait until Light Flow gets updated to work with the S III.
Also, even though Go SMS "blink LED" works, the color settings are messed up. The color you pick doesn't correlate to what shows up. Must be an app issue as well. But hey, at least it works.

Yeah the hex codes are all messed up in the NA version, so regardless of what program you are setting the colors with they're almost opposite. Yellow = White from my experience if anyone wants white haha
I'm so glad this got brought up, but it's a shame nobody's found a fix yet. It's such a subtle, yet mindblowingly irritating thing. Mine is sold red, no matter what I change in both the system LED settings, or the GoSMS settings. I haven't bothered with LightFlo, since everyone reported the mis-representation of color changes in the settings.

If your on a twiz rom the colors are gonna be all messed up. For example if you use light flow to change the color of the led you'll notice that the color you set it to be is not the color it is. This is an os problem. If you flash a stock android based rom like cm9 cm10 or aokp they will be fixed.

Now this is some handy info. Does this apply to someone having CM9 or 10 AND GoSMS as well?
Hey guys,
Ever since ICS update, the charging LED completely overrides all notification LEDs.
I used to have k9mail LED color set to white which results in the LED blinking red whenever a new email arrives. This works perfectly fine if the phone is not being charged and this also worked before ICS but this no longer works.
Anyone else notice this with their E4GT?
Thanks

Yeah this beg has been there since the early leaks, Samsung screwed us on that one and I guess Sprint never made it a priority to fix. This works in aokp though so I figure it also works in cm9 and other aosp roms.
I don't even use the leds they just blink and drain the battery. I have them disabled for everything including charging. You can't see it blink in your pocket so all its doing is wasting your battery as it blinks away unattended and it has notifications and vibration to alert you to an incoming message. No real point in having sound, vibration, an icon and a light for a notification. Plus ICS doesn't handle the LEDs properly and they keep the SoC from going into deepsleep causing excessive battery drain. You use less battery to click the screen on and look for an icon than you do with the LED blinking til you check it anyways.
We are legion, for we are many.
