[Q] New to the S3 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys I just bought my S3 maybe a week ago and absolutely love it! I had it rooted and flashed within the first night. Mainly my question is though when I first got it I was running super quick and my RAM was rarely more than 50% full. After rooting I installed the Anakonda rom, setcpu, and juice defender ultimate to manage my battery.
Now I'm coming from an iPhone so I'm still adjusting to the difference in the phone but it seems like when I don't touch my phone i can go 15+ hours and not lose any battery but the moment I start doing anything it plummets. I used Titanium backup today to remove some bloatware and could just watch the battery disappear. On top of all this my RAM is constantly staying >50% full.
Any ideas? Is it bad to have the ram so full cus honestly I feel like the phone slows down (ie going to home screen and have a black wallpaper with no icons) then all the sudden it flashes and its all there.
As I said, Im new to the S3 and Android and absolutely love it. Just looking for advice so no flaming please ^.^
Edit: I would also like to say I use GoSMS as my texting app with the emoji plugin so my girlfriend and I can send those crazy icons back and forth. If youknow a better app (paid or free) that can use emoji please let me know.

I get better battery life without juice defender on this phone.

I get 14-15 hours with everything syncing, auto brightness, and no better saving apps, with 3-4.5 hours screen on time.
This is from today, notice on the right where it flattened out, I was taking a nap phone barely lost any battery.

Is this bad/ok/good battery life.

I use facebook/twitter sms messages. Combined, i get about 300 messages a day, plus messaging a couple of friends.
I have juicedefender,
I leave 3g off unless I leave the house,
use wifi only when I need data,
I don't use an automated taskkiller,
background data off, auto sync off,
Bluetooth off, gps off, brightness: low as possible,
Screen auto off: minimum, keyboard light: 3 seconds.
I do the airplane mode trick, and kill the omadrm service. I think thats all. Remind me if i didnt do something please.

I got me a 3500mah monster of a battery and I never worry about battery life. The other day I had gone 39 hrs and still had 42% left. Sick.
Thats sweet. Sadly l, i still have the one shipped with the phone. So, for the battery i have, is it good life?
Sent from The Chaotic Void.
idk but looks pretty good to me i will check when mine is at 7 hours if it even lasts that long lol since i keep my wifi on and just use a taskkiller
Did you ever check?

I'm usually pretty friggin happy when mine lasts 6 hours...

Yours looks pretty good! I typically get about 8-9 hours off a stock battery with medium use.
I get better battery life without disabling any of that..excluding 3g since I don't need it.
I don't get why people buy a smartphone and disable all the smart phone features..........
What rom are you running?

[Q] What the hell is this dip in my battery life?

So, at some point I turned off my phone and I -think- the sudden spike down in battery life is around that time.
Anyone got any explanations?

Mine has done that as well a couple of times. One time I had a charge of around 75%...rebooted my phone, and the battery was down to 15% percent.
Maybe it's just another bug we'll have to deal with until they come out with a fix.
thats strange mine doesnt have that much of a dip
every samsung product I have does this, gt 7, gt 10.1, droid charge, and this one. I don't recall my og droid, evo 4g or 3d doing this.
All phones show a dip when there is a battery pull while the phone is on....
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Wasn't a pull, just a shutdown and reboot.

Stock battery stats lol
**** didn't notice that graph at the top.

well if your phone was rebooted then that bald would have been reset because it displays monitors since last power-on.
there seems to be a bug where the cpu fails to underclock after a certain amount of usage and/or load. rebooting after intensive apps and/or before leaving the phone idle for extended periods of time seems to solve the problem for me. yes i get that too.

just press on top after you press battery usage on the screen that shows you the battery usage.

Starburst v1.9.8r + Underclock = Great Battery!

Running starburst rom v1.9.8r and its awesome! Thanks phantom for all your work! And thanks to everyone else whose software im using!
Battery life on a few previous roms were a bit low, maby i didnt give my phone long enough to get used to them, but my current set up gives me some of the best battery life I've personally had since before root and starburst v1.8 which were each beast.

Way past my daily charge time and still going strong. connected to wifi a lot, used google navigation for about 90mins of driving, been web browsing a lot/texting/little music/some camera. Nothing spectacular like gaming and videos but my main worry was to make sure i had enough battery at the end of the day to gps back home lol. Dont worry about the few minutes of charging at the end, was showing off netflix through hdmi so kinda needed to have charger plugged in so give or take 2% if you're- why so serious?
Set up:
Sb rom v1.9.8r
LoStKernelExp 1.0.0.8
SetCpu to underclock/undervolt
Viper's LoS Checker v2.1 - default set to check every 2 minutes
ICS green dialer (Idk how that would do anything)
First fully charged phone till blue light, unplugged and turned off, plugged in and let fully charged a few times. Booted straight to recovery and wiped battery data. And yes rebooted and was at 99% but hey.
Also if anyone is worried about performance from underclocking from 1200 to 800, dont be, theres hardly a difference in performance. I play Defender -droidhen- alllll the time and there was absutely 0 performance issues even when using spells and flashy stuff on stage 92. The gps works perfect,no lag between voice and location/distance from next turn (and was on 3g). The single thing i notice is that when on flash heavy web pages, there tends to be a bit more checkerboarding while scrolling up and down, but the pages themselves load up as fast as always.
For the extra bettery life, i think its worth the microscopic performance sacrafice? Anyway I hope this helped anyone wondering about battery life and how I extend my own!
Would love some feedback if anyone is getting better results!
Looks good...still testing tho.
Thanks!

[Q] Is this typical battery performance?

I'm new to the Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Toro), I just switched from a Thunderbolt.
So here's the issue: I am seeing much quicker battery drain than I would expect when running Carbon 1.1 (Android 4.2.2) or Carbon 1.0 (4.2.1). I'm going to try franco kernel today. Here are some screens showing stats. I replaced the stock battery (person who sold it said it wasn't holding charge) with Anker battery. I also disabled NFC wondering if maybe this battery doesn't support it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, maybe I missed something with installing the rom with this phone, as I said before, I am new to the Nexus.
You might can squeeze a little more, but </= 2 hours screen on time is generally what you can expect.
Seems pretty normal to me. With almost an hour of onscreen time 53% after almost 7 hours is pretty good.
Alright, thanks for the input. Sort of not what I expected, as this isn't much better battery life than my TB. Would anyone expect an improvement using just 3G? I don't typically use data on my phone anyone, as at home and at work I have wifi

Not a substantial one, no, but minimal improvement maybe.
EDIT: Unless the majority of your battery drain is coming from data usage.. Torrenting and such..
I somehow noticed a much better battery life in 4.2.2 than 4.2.1
I am running ParanoidAndroid 15th Feb release and AK 691 Pirates on my maguro.
I have disabled sync and only sync mails 2-3 times a day and complete sync once.
And screen on time between 2.5 to 3hrs is normal for the GNex.

[Q] Is my battery runtime normal?

Hi everybody,
i'm running on Paranoid 3.6 und AK256 Kernel, and these are my battery stats.
Used the phone alot during the lectures today, tested this halo stuff (really don't like it).
But ~9h is just too little or?
System is just 2 weeks old, so pretty clean i think.

What's your on-screen time?
Sent from my Cyanogen-flavoured, AK-powered Galaxy Nexus
It was about 2.5 hours screen on time.
My stats for today are attached.
Screen on time is 3h 5min. The almost horizontal line at the beginning is in airplane mode but with wifi on.
Is this okay? It feels like that this is way too little runtime :/
Thanks a lot !
seems fine to me.
That's about average battery life for me. If I stand right in front of the wifi router + good 3G signal I can maybe get 3.5-4 hours screen on time. Else its usually about 3 hours on full wifi. Or 1-2.5 hours on full 3G or mix of 3g/wifi depending on the day and the brightness.
3hrs is my normal. Just go out n buy a separate charger and another battery or two (that's what I did) and u just have an extra battery on hand when u need it

Do I need a new battery?
Hi guys it's me again,
NOW I think my battery drains way too fast, I don't use my phone that often but I can't make it over one day!
Here are some screens, i know i've got 30 % left, but thats gone pretty soon
I'm running on Purity 5.7.1 (Android 4.2.2) and Fancy Kernel r36 extended version for quite a long time now.
Is my battery too old and damaged, should i purchase a new one?
Big thanks for any help !
Yeah, it's normal.
You're last longer then I do
