I have noticed I have a burn-in area where the status bar is. Is there anyway to get sprint to offer me a new one or the possibility of a different phone. I don't have insurance.

thanks for the tip... i have no issues whit my screen but i've tried this app just to see...
Do you know how long (time) is necessary to create burn in effects on OLED's? i've read that on LCD (modern ones) its good to refresh the entire screen every 2 hours (if you use a static image of course) but i cant find any info on Oled tech...
I have had mine less than a week and there is one area that slightly darker than the rest in a line about one pixel wide. There are bunch of individial pixels with the same darkness also. Is this going to be worth a trade in? I'm not sure if it will get worse over time or not.

I have the same problem where you can see traces of the keyboard on a white screen like google or something. Im wondering if sprint will replace the phone for free since this is a hardware problem???
Does anyone know?

here is a link for those who dont believe me
what are your settings? it would be easier for us to try and replicate what you are seeing on our phones if you would tell us what exactly you are doing on your phone to see these lines. what brightness, what wallpaper, what app, etc..,?

so does anyone know what Im talking about with the letters of the keyboard being burned into the screen?
I looked at the test and what they are showing I don't have that problem on mine however.
Most likely you will not have these issues with our phone. If u are having white lines or burned in images on your screen.I suggest going to the sprint store .

I have horizontal lines going up and down my screen. it only happens at around 80% and 20% battery with the brightness below half. it is best seen on a white backround. I looked into it and I have come to the conclusion its these screens.

So i called sprint they wont do anything. Its not affectin performance in anyway. I think if i become major anal ill do a asurion replacement.

It's a bad display, regardless of what they tell you. I had the same exact problem on the first S2 epic touch I got. There are lots of them out there with that same problem, not sure if it's a manufacturer defect or what, but definitely not supposed to look like that. I took mine in after 3 days of use , I was NOT gonna ride with a display like that, (for me it was even worse in a dark room with low brightness, really obvious then...also had a pink tint when scrolling on the white background xda app), got a replacement and it is perfect. No dark/light lines, etc.. Everything looks great no matter what I do.
Sorry to hear cause it sucks, considering how high end this phone is..

I am experiencing the same damn lines. Seems to be different than the tmo display issues though. On a white big I see dark lines running down the screen.
Same here i'm going to take mine to sprint tomorrow

I have both t mos and sprints GS2. Both have the same problem, altho the tmo you can see it more on tmos. I would say they are bad screens becouse the epic 4g did not have this problem. Its called the "brushed metal effect"

I have two Galaxy S II's and one has no lines what so ever, but it looks very yellow and dingy. The other looks richer but it has the lines. You have blobs/streaks, you just can't see them.
When I got my first SGSII I had those pesky lines and blobs, exchanged it at a local Tmo for a new one and the issue was gone for me too.
I have looked very carefully and I can confirm, lines are non existent
Check the back to see where yours was made, maybe the korean models were defective
Maybe we'll get lucky one day and Samsung will get sued or something and issue recalls
wishful thinking...
You want proof
Here's a pic as it came on the box
When the other poster said pics, this isn't what they had in mind. They were referring to pictures with the screen on lowest brightness in a dark room viewing the blobs.jpg.
This would provide "proof" that your screen has no lines or blobs.
here's what you do. download a pure black picture. when it is night time. put that picture up on your phone and turn off the lights. take a picture with no flash. upload here.

He really doesn't need to prove anything. If he finds it perfect then. So be it. The issue is just a placebo effect.

Or you could dial #*0#* in dialer like everyone else. And its come to a point to where ppl don't even care to notice the blobs, I could care less if they were there or not. But good thing you got your fix OP

DID YOU RUN THE blobs.jpg TEST? The black vibration test hides the flaws. A near black screen like grey shows it. Hell, I don't know who, but as someone said, opening the XDA app itself shows the flaws.
EDIT: DO YOU EVEN HAVE THE SGH-T989 PHONE? LOL.
if the XDA app splash screen has lines going through it...then yeah you have a T-mobile SGSII
Turn your brightness all the way down (not really necessary but it just shows the lines even more) and open XDA app, TADA, wood grain son.
I can confirm that the blobs and all have certainly been lessened. I just got this white model a little less than a week ago and the screen quality has vastly improved.

I'll run all these test Saturday. If my wife and I can upgrade.....not sure if we have the money.
I was just messing around I totally believe you I have seen t989's with good screens I just can't seem to get one.
Has anyone noticed on low brightness and a grey or white screen you can see the stock.keyboard outline? Is this common or should I get a replacement?

I've got that too! Doesn't bother me too much though!
Yeah, the bottom half of my screen also is getting a slight discoloration at lower brightness levels. It's just the way these screens work - if you get a replacement the new one will eventually do it as well over time. I've resorted to minimizing the keyboard off the screen as much as possible when I'm reading text messages or whatever app it may be.
Will the One X or the S3 suffer from burn in? I had that problem with the SGS2. I was hoping it wouldn't happen to this phone. I haven't noticed any burn in yet.
I've noticed it as well. Never saw burn in on my epic 4g (sgs1). So I found it as a shock seeing it on this screen. It fades slowly but I fear when it will never go away.

Are you sure it really is a burn-in per definition?
You know what, read this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22792659&postcount=13
Excellent explanation by chopper the dog who says it's not a burn in.
Does anyone else have this issue with their GS3 screen? My screen is slightly dimmer on the bottom part of the phone, or maybe tinted blue. Because of this unevenness, it leads to an annoying gradient effect on nearly every website with a white/grey background. I talked to a AT&T rep in store, and he said that this was perfectly normal even though their display units didn't have this issue. Is this normal, or am I just being super picky?
Attached are some hastily taken pictures.
It's not normal. Insist on exchanging it, or go to another store.
Definitely not, have you dropped it? Or you bought it like that? Deff get it replaced

Thanks for the input guys, I'll hit another AT&T store and see what they have to say. And it hasn't been dropped or anything, it's been like that since day 1.
Did you manage to change your phone? I have the same problem with my international version.

I've had 4 phones in a row with this problem. I'm getting one more replacement (blue this time, not white), and then I'm jumping ship on the S3.
Hello
So ill go straight to the point. When i enable expanded desktop, the place where my navbar usually is,is kinda blueish. So,does anyone have the same problem? And how can i get rid of it? Ill upload a pic. Thanks.
I dont know if its visible in the screenshot.
Pretty common problem with the Galaxy Nexus screens. There are some tricks you can do to potentially reduce it, but in some cases there isn't much you can do outside of having the screen replaced.
Screen burn will not show on a screenshot, either you can get the screen replaced or just suck it up..
Ill suck it up then
