hi guys. some of u may know me from my random postings on here, cyanogenmod, and the g1 forums. been doing some playing around and thought id share.
*you know the drill. its your phone, i didnt break it, you did. i'm not responsable yada yada yada....
this rom in its original form can be found on goapk.com. all i have done for now is add a stock boot.img in it. i tested it for a few hours before i went to bed last night and everything seems to be working. Edit: wifi has been reported broken. Look for fix tonight.
ALWAYS do a nandroid first.
a FULL wipe is requried. (warning to previous sdrom users, a wipe will delete that rom, so make sure u backup first)
give me some feed back and we'll see where this goes.
OK STILL CANT GET BOOT TO FLASH WITH ROM. AFTER FLASH TAKE BOOT.IMG AND FASTBOOT FLASH BOOT BOOT.IMG
*FOR PEOPLE UP AND RUNNING ON ANY VERSION OF THIS BEFORE 11-11-10 2:15AM EST ONLY, NANDROID FIRST CAUSE THIS WILL WIPE ALL. AFTER FLASHING PER ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS GO TO ADVANCED RESTORE IN CWM RECOVERY AND ONLY RESTORE DATA. THIS WILL PUT U BACK TO WHERE U WERE, JUST WITH NEW KERNEL AND WIFI WORKING. I WILL CONT TO WORK ON BETTER FIX FOR THIS.

Questions about BaconBits and this rom.
If I currently am perm rooted and have baconbits installed and I flash this. Will baconbits still be on the phone. Is this rom compatible with baconbits. Will I need to refalsh bacon bits. Thanks for any info.
Well went ahead and downloaded and did a nandroid and wiped everything and then went to flash and it went through Formatting SYSTEM,DATA,CACHE, and then copying files just fine. But then goes to Formatting BOOT, then Writing Boot
E: Cant't find BOOT
E: Failure at line 392

Any Ideas.
Tried to flash this but failed when it couldn't find BOOT

What applications have been deleted from /system/app/?
Nevermind, it seems there are some issues with this, as well as it wiping data and what not. I will try a Desire Z ROM in a few days.

Hmm must have done something wrong as i was last min editing as i was leaving for work. Take the boot.img out of the zip. Reboot into fastboot. In cmd (windows) type "fastboot flash boot locationofboot.img" then reboot should boot up then. Ill fix that when i get home tonight.
As far as bacon bits. The kernel in it is not compatible. The other stuff might be but would have to be pushed manually to test.

I restored from my backup for now will wait for the fix. Thanks for your work though. Can't wait to run Sense.
My phone stopped at line 300-something... Had to nand back...
I think the baconbits from CM don't work with this. Had to rollback via nand, waiting for a fix

I assume u flashed the boot.img in this zip in fastboot?
Mobile network should def work. Im on my g2, this rom, right now. Didnt think to check wifi.
ya ya, this should have been first. but we all wanted to play. but anyway here it is now.
this is the stock rom post OTA. added root (su and superuser.apk) as well as modified ramdisk (ro.secure=0) and busybox. Also zip aligned apps to optimize ram usage. there is odex (stock) and de-odex versions.
*i no longer see the reason for needing the pre-OTA rom. if you have a reason post up and we'll see what happens...
if you are upgrading from previous version of THIS rom you should not have to wipe, however you will still need to redo any system changes you have made, i.e. trackpad wake or notification lights.
Stock OTA kernel is now INCLUDED in rom flash. however if you want to flash an oc/uv/whatever kernel follow that post's instructions after this rom is up and running. i suggest pershoots kernels. been using his since the g1, awesome work. his g2 one has great performance AND battery life.(for me anyway)
These roms are g2 and dz compatible.
Cwm recovery recomended for ease and function.
1. Place stock rom of your choice on root of sdcard.
2. Boot into recovery
3. Do a nandroid backup.
4. Do a full wipe. (if coming from different rom)
5. Select flash zip from sd and select stock rom.
6. Once its finished, reboot and enjoy.
OTA odex: http://www.4shared.com/file/XlIDy7SV/ota_odex_V11.html
OTA de-odex: http://www.4shared.com/file/vi77pxvT/ota_deodex_v11.html
OTA bootv2 (kernel): http://www.4shared.com/file/y2NVlbJm/ota_boot_v2.html
*(only needed if you flashed a different kernel after the version 1.1 rom and want to go back to stock kernel. includes wifi module.)
pershoots's kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847672
theme template: http://www.4shared.com/file/VwINHT_r/theme_template.html
*theme template is for theme dev's only. it should be universal for any rom. just place the themed framework and/or apps in corresponding folders. i have a .txt file in the folders as a place holder, delete it after you add your themed stuff. take a look at the update script to see how it works, and to add or remove anything you need to...

Awesome thanks!! Do we have to flash a separate kernel if coming from Sense, and if so, do you have the stock kernel in a flashable .zip? Thank you in advance,
Russ
Nice work! good to have a base Rom to fall back on but why do we need three Roms for stock? why not just deodex the stock Rom with the OTA applied and be done with it? less work for you, right? I know this is quicker and will help folks who have boot looped/ soft bricked their phones. either way, good job and thanks!
Can I just remove the odex files along with the bloatware apk files from my current rom? I know they are both located in the systems/app folder.

Wanted to come back to the stock ROM and found this post
Flashed the ROM but now am stuck in the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" booting loop (i.e. phone won't progress past that splash screen)
Can someone pls help me in figuring out how to get out of this mess
I used to have Open Recovery but that's gone now. Have to rely on the stock recovery
I am not a pro at ADB etc so would appreciate step-by-step instructions pls
Thanks a million!! Appreciate it
i think u can download the stock rom, rename it to PC10IMG.ZIP, and reboot into hboot, but iono, i cant get anything right this morning

You need to wipe when going from rom to rom. Get cwm recovery and follow my instructions above.

Thanks for the quick reply
I have already wiped via stock recovery - both data/ settings and cache
I can't boot into the phone (ie the part where u have the home screen etc). Keep getting stuck at the htc quietly brilliant screen. Phone will keep looping here
Can I still install clockwork recoverY (cwm)? If yes, how? If no, what can I do to get my phone back to normal
I'm goin' crazy here lol
I need clearer instructions. What do I rename this file to? When I go into hboot how do I load said file up?
I renamed it pc10img.zip, didn't work.

Should I be naming the file something else? I think I left the name as is and/ or may have tried to flash by calling it PC10IMG
Thanks buddy, got it figured out, iono why but I was using "fastboot flash..." instead of "fastboot boot..." all good now.

Alright I going keep this simple. I checked all over the forum and can't find a sollution. My devs told me to come here and told me no one else has this issue.
Following is my specs. s3, running twrp 2.3.3.1 have sense it came out. I have a 32 gig SD card patriot. I am running super su (note that)
I use TB backup normal. I run inverted Gapps, normaly.
My attempts to fix.
Did a clean install, format system, factory data reset, cache, dalvik in TWRP. I installed rootbox, I installed normal Gapps 20121212, then
Get to home screen I dont reinstall anything except
TB backup, Root Tool box, and updated super su (which might be installed wrong)
anyways I reboot to back up when there done and poof Roottoolbox is no longer there, though icon is still there. Missing app.... icon still there WTF
TB lost its cousin TB pro (key) but TB is there.... wtf
Oh and super su lost its update as did gapps updates
All missing
Also I can reinstall apps restart again and BAM apps missing again same ones same updates.
Is this something I could of done in android comander? I use droid manager and droid explore too..
Never had a issue back on 4.1 jellybam I flased a few roms 4.2 roms..
baked bean, aokp , cm10 tried them now im on rootbox
I did flash the broken jellybam 5.1 a bunch times trying get to work (shrug) dunno if that matters and I flashed from 4.1 to 4.2 a lot of times
I assume some folder got moved its like my system picks apps to move to certain places
OR maybe I installed backed up apps with android comander somewhere i shouldn't so now I can't install them again (though flashing clean install should fixed everything)
Give me some ideas please thank you
I never had a issue that clean install didn't fix so Im worried. I still have old backup on my computer of before the problem started but there 4.1 roms and I don't wana compound my issues so I wait untill I get reply to try anything crazy
I think I know whats wrong I explored a bit and i dunno my data/data folder is FULL of old stuff I guess I asumed it got cleaned out with system wipe in TWRP
So my question is .... assuming im going to do a reinstall what should I wipe to clean out my system folders? I don't want to clean my SD card just the system I want a true fresh install thank you

my advice to you is clean up all partitions by using odin to flash back to stock, reroot, custom recovery and start flashing again. seems like your partitions need a cleaning bud, I'm 99% sure this will solve your problem.
p.s. wiping in recovery is not the same thing as odin back to stock, a full odin flash back to stock will fix EVERY partition on your phone and really clean things up. You can even do a full wipe after the odin to stock to really make sure your system is clean.
also use sdmaid (root app) to clean out your sdcard of crap

Get your stock firmware 4.0.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625
use this toolkit to guide you through everything, it will basically teach you how to use odin, I recommend it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665
FOLLOW ON SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS, don't get ahead of yourself, the tool kit tells you what to do.
root and install custom recovery afterwords using the toolkit
once again, FOLLOW ON SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS, don't get ahead of yourself, the tool kit tells you what to do.
once you boot up just factory reset inside the rom, reboot into recovery (toolkit will do it for you if you choose the setting) and start flashing again
also don't forget to reflash the latest modem for your carrier, found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
also, I think you should format your sd card, just back up ALL your important stuff on your PC and move it back after, you will REALLY clean stuff up big time,
-I have to flash modem?
-Do I need a kernal?
-I cant use any of my backups after I do this right?
Last but not least I have my stock backup before I started flashing that isn't going to help right? Whats ever messed up im going need to do this all the way right?
Anyways I figure it can't hurt but I gotta make sure I get perfect directions I can follow but if I have guess on anything im doomed. I downloading the stock file now (I think right one its ATT) doesn't say d2att but I assume ATT means that all 3 recoverys are for d2att
anyways you helped me a bunch using search I know I can figure the rest out im going download everything get sleep and attemt in morning I come back let ya know if I get back to running.
Funny this problem effecs so few apps just a couple I must done something wrong. I don't get how anything can live past system wipe in TWRP... I mean it deletes system files right? They get replaced by my new roms files I thought but instead they seem like they get left over every time i wipe... I dunno why. If this don't work im using my warrenty
how come i cant just wipe data then install a fresh rom off my sd card? or could my recovery be messed up also.... (dam) i guess this makes sense oh well lol

Thanks a bunch man.
Every once in awhile someone really is helpfull on this forum and its cool when it happens. *Tips his hat* thanks
I already formated my sd card (will do it again if nessisery)
Just did it few seconds ago figured might help. umm only other question now is.. do I need flash kernal or is that included... and also the s3 toolkit (I have it already) and have used it I only sounds like a noob I just confused at this issue. Umm it doesn't have my specific model will that be a issue? I know it has i747 but not samsung galaxy i747 att
or does not matter only the i747 part needs be right only asking so i don't F up

i747 is at&t
i747m is Canada
T999 is tmobile
that should help you out, also, the odin flash covers every partition. kernel, rom, modem etc. you will need to flash a custom kernel after your rooted and have a custom recovery. I would do a little bit more research, flash the rom in my sig (my own rom) when your up and running and use it as a daily driver untill you figure things out a little bit more with some good ol reading :highfive:
that was a long download. I know what im kinda doing. I done same thing on my S2 reverted it to sell. The only difference is my S3 is a girl about things. my s2 could take anything.
Anyways I had a long night.. i dunno what problem IS but I think has to do with me having android comander and backing up my APKs to my computer and my phone. and reinstalling apps with bolth programs.
Its so easy to use Android comander that I dunno maybe I been installing apps in wrong places and it finaly caught up to me
Or maybe phone defective.. *shrug* dunno others had my issues too but no fixes really. Nothing solid.
I give your idea a try but I did just wipe data, wipe system factory data and bla bla nothing helps it still happens. the same dam 3 apps too... over and over jezzzz
Thanks for help Im to tired to continue was just waiting for the reocvery to finish later
Anyone answer this.
If I format everything in Twrp all my
system/system/app folders
system/data/app folders
data/data/ folders
And so forth do they get delete and new one put in there place
do they get over written and merge with the ones from last rom
nothing happens to them?
I need to know. And this Full Recovery via odin the guy above says to do will it really get rid of them? all Not leave stuff behind
I think this is my problem if it isn't then its a faulty phone but problems just started so i think its something i did on acciednt
Even though I installed newest TWRP sometimes its like Settings get left over even after a full wipe. Including data (did last night)
Did data, system, cache , dalvik, factory reset, I even formated SD card
Then reindtall rom downloded rom manager. restarted and poof gone and left behind short cut on the desktop
So wtf ? and settings won't stick they revert back default like it can't remember **** its been smoking weed i bet... dam phone
any ideas help or will flashing odin fix this because i don't wana mess phone up worse

Wipe data doesn't format your internal. You need to actually format internal. Cant remember where that option is. Might be in "wipe" or in "advanced" . BUT....it will wipe everything of your internal. What ever you have saved.... Backups....pics.

everything important is saved on my computer honestly I make lots of backups im a carefull person I been reading about corrupt EFS folders, and bad system directories and stuff....
Seems only way fix it go back to stock and go through your folders.... Once im stock again I hope I do this right (im ready to do it now) just ... feel like this could all go wrong
What do I do once im stock? Just wipe the phone? factory data... its the not having a custom recovery (with stock) that scares me so much... I rooted this phone with a program I didn't do it by hand so Im worrried I might not get it right *sigh*
Once your back on stock n rooted install goomanager and installed TWRP again.

Thanks again for the information you helped a lot and I think that worked. I think its fixed. I can't be sure but its not happening at least like it was before. I prob won't know for awhile if its going to happen again for sure but Im optimistic. I mean what else can I do after this lol buy a new phone
Thanks dude most people arn't that nice to explain everything to me
Hi, hope my exact issue wasn't discussed after page 10 of the help & troubleshoot forum, anyway my rooted, unlocked cwm recovery stock 4.2 yakju (if I remember well) Samsung GNEX started to behave strangely slower then usual less then a week ago, then a couple of days later I woke up after night battery recharge to the boot up animation which never gave way to the operating system starting up.
After the first moment of despair I tried reading something here and with the use of adb I was able to first see the device and, after backing up via recovery, to pull the files from the phone (backup included). Problem is the 0 folder is very light for all the data and apps that I had, and inside the DCIM folder there's nothing, no trace of the 1k+ picture I shot in the past couple years, only an igc file which should have been in another folder. But strangely enough the backup weights almost 6GB which is consistent with what was inside prior to the crash.
Before attempting the backup I fiddled with recovery and tried to wipe cache, dalvik and fixing permissions, with no apparent results.
So now I'm undecided whether to take the phone to a samsung job centre which will surely wipe all data and possibly find out I have a corrupt memory or partition table, which renders many files and folders unavailable to be adb pulled or to wipe data/restore factory by myself hopying, fingers crossed, that the backup actually saved all my files and that could be restored without hassle. I actually had hoped that, like for the desktop environment, there was the possibility to awake my phone with a linux live or whatever to check if all files were present and downloadable before actually restoring the phone.
Thanks for your interest and help.

Have you tried dirty flashing your rom?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Free mobile app
This is probably what I was thinking to do in the last sentence, I just have no idea how this could be done. Are there any videos explaining a dirty flash for gnex out there? Thanks for your help

Its really easy. Just wipe cache and dalvik cache and then flash your rom (the same rom that is on the phone) again. Reboot.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Free mobile app
As far as I remember there is no identifiable rom files inside my GNEX memory, or wait, it seems I do already have a 6c7ff815e7762f651ad6f8c74e5cb281093f1e0b.signed-yakju-JWR66V-from-JDQ39.6c7ff815 zip in my download folder. So I need to clean cache and dalvik then install from zip. Do you know if this system wipes everything and I need to restore everything applying my hopefully working backup, or if it keeps all the files?
I'll try it tomorrow with fingers crossed.
Thanks again

Dirty flashing wont wipe any data. Only cache (which is only helpful with some speed). Cache will rebuild. If thats your rom. Dirty flash it. If it isnt. Adb push the right rom.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Free mobile app
Then I don't think the mentioned file is the my rom but a rom update I wanted to push myself but never did. Now, I'm definitely sure it was already JB, but which flavour? 4.2 JOP40C, 4.2.1 JOP40D or 4.2.2 JDQ39? I guess it should have been the last one, if I intended to update from JDQ to JWR (according to the file name), and I'm quite sure it was Jakju but just can't remember for sure. Is there a way via recovery or adb to check which was my rom? Or should I just close my eyes and download and flash JDQ39?
Again, thanks

I know that TWRP default names a nandroid as the ROM build name/number and date. Don't know what cwm does for that as its been ages since I used it. You could install twrp and see what that tells you as the name of backup maybe to try and grab current ROM info.
Or using the file manager in recovery(twrp has one dunno about cwm) and see if you can look at the build.prop in /system which will have all relevant ROM information. If you can use adb in recovery try pulling /system/build.prop and looking at it. Right near top will be ROM build and info
Thanks, CWM doesn't have a file manager, but adb did actually pull the build prop id=JOP40D, so I'll go back to download the correct ROM and try to flash it..

small update, I managed to download the correct rom and I tried to adb push the .tar to the device (twice and attempting a third to /sdcard/ /sdcard/clockworkmod/ and now /sdcard/0/Download/) but still haven't been able to spot the uploaded file to choose for dirty flash. adb shows the file as uploaded , but again no sign of it with CWM Recovery. should I try to install TWRP recovery? with the nexus toolkit there is a function to flash a rom, but it says it will wipe the device first, so it's really not the option I was looking for. Another strange behaviour of CWM Recovery, or maybe my phone, inside mounts and storage menu, mount sdcard seems to be not working as it never changes to unmount after you click it. I think my memory went berserk and that's the reason why the phone rebooted and never woke up again. Maybe I'll take to the nearest job center to ascertain the damage...
thanks for all your help

installed TWRP and was able to see to rom.tar uploaded via adb in the download folder, but wasn't able to use to flash as probably both recovery wants .zip and not .tar, so I'll now untar and zip the stock rom and upload it again...
small steps...
had a md5 check fail during flash, so still no good news. I was surfing a bit when noticed that developers.google.com doesn't have a factory image for 4.2.1 jop40d but only for 4.1.2 jzo54k. Does this mean I should flash 4.1.2 and then update, or try directly for the 4.2.1 which I can't find (a working one)?
went back to CWM but installation failed as well as TWRP, so I guess my last option is to take it to a samsung job center to check whether I have a corrupted memory or else... ANyway thanks everybody for your support..

Had to take it to the job center where, it was downgraded to 4.0.4 (have still to check which flavour) fixed something and Wiped everything. When I side about he post mortem backup and the intention to try a restore from there I was give an are you kidding look, it could crash again... sigh.
Anyway thanks everyone that spent some time to try and explain a noob how to try to solve this issue.. Now I've got a new galaxy nexus, so after a little grievance I'll start reading on how to flash a nice rom...

Does anyone knows a method to wipe Note 2 (N7100) completely and reinstall the stock firmware?
I am having issues with calls. The person who called cannot hear me nor can I hear them. I tried with stock roms, custom roms, different modems but no go.
The issue remains intermittent.
I have used nand erase all in odin and even used pit but old partitions always stay there, for eg- modem, kernel always stays there no matter even if I wipe them from Philz recovery.
So I request you to point me towards the right method or tool to completely wipe my Note 2 and reinstall stock firmware or custom (doesn't matter).
P.S. I am ready to do anything (not hardware) to my Note 2 to wipe it completely.

Answer:
root phone....
Install custom recovery...(PhilZ) or if U R allready on TWRP itll do fine...
Do full wipe( factory and data reset-wipe all to install new rom-yes)
Clean cache
Clean dalvick cache in advanced
Restart recovery....
Phone is clean
Or...
Download ODIN and STOCK Firmware... and ...
U r done! Hope helped...
And there is Rom nuke app. Zip... Find it, i do not have link for now. But, that what has been written will help U.
And... if U have anything important to save-save it before all!!! Titanium or any ellse backup app will do, or/and back it up from recovery also! Twice is always better! And, if U do not wanna install new rom and that new rom isnt on Ext Sd- reamove it, just in case before deleting all(wiping) but after backup(i just asume that ull store backup on Ext Sd card)

There is solution for that. Do remap partition with Odin. U can find stock partition formats on XDA somewere or just Google it, i will do latter when i have some time free. But do not give hope, there is always a solution, just take a brake and relax ... and See U latter or tonight in "helping adventure"
p.s TRY TO NOT Nand erase all.... Just re-map partition with downloaded one and instal stock firmware.... 4 begining.
Did remapping the partition with the pit file.
Did remapping with pit n nand erase all no go...
Have you actually tried recovery firmware through kies?
I believe you should give it a chance if you haven't already, I know that it's not supposed to downgrade but it's called "recovery software" ... ???
