T-Mobile GS3 HSPA bands are HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
Orange from DR uses the 900mhz band... so no 3g for you... there's one company from PuertoRico(us) named Claro, they use the international versions on all of theirs devices, it is the only "U.S" carrier that has phone that work on the Orange DR 3G network... also the iphone's use that band...(only the GSM iphone).

Yeah I remember that they used the international version of the s2 for a reason. Couldn't find the frequencies used but you might want to check with viva as well as claro

You must be mistaking orange of another region that uses the same T-Mobile band

AT&T 3G Problem

I have rooted and installed CM7 on my Defy. I bought an unlocked Defy from ebay after a google search revealed that it would work with ATT.
So far, I am only able to connect to the EDGE network and only make calls. I can't get text messages to work, but I can get about 40kbps when I run the speedtest app. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.
The Defy from T-Mobile is not compatiple with AT&T 3g bands. Also your texting problem is connected to your APN settings not being correct.
You are correct, sorry I meant to say that the 850 band is the only one reported working
Several other forums report that the 850 band works on ATT 3G.
a tmobile defy definitely works on att. I am on one right now.
did you check the band changer? since you're on edge you should be on the correct bands. maybe the person sold you a non tmobile defy?
also i've seen a 3g fix floating around but i'm not sure what it's for.
with my tmo defy that was unlocked i just popped in my sim and it worked. when i changed to cm7 i had to change the bands and then it worked.
It is a non t-mob defy.
Or at least I suspect this based on the European style plug.
Which baseband are you using?
i am using the americas us t-mo 3.4.2-107-4

T-Mobile S3 unlocked on AT&T

So after some reading around the web, I'm still a little confused about something. Will an unlocked T-Mobile S3 work with AT&T 3G bands? Don't really care anything about 4G so that isn't an issue.
Sent from my Galaxy Note on XDA Premium
Yes
I was thinking it had pentaband, but wasnt sure. Any chance you know if it'd involve flashing AT&T radios like on the Tmobile S2, or would it just work?
It will work
the Tmobile default radio is set to the 1700/2100 MHZ bands...AT&T uses 850/1900/2100 for their 3G.
I believe you'll have to flash an at&t radio in order for it to work on AT&T's 3G network.

See that's what I'm thinking, have an opportunity to trade my i717 for an S3, but I'm debating lol. Not really worried about IF it's possible to flash radios, more so worried about WHEN :/.
I have an unlocked S3 from Tmobile that I was planning on using with my ATT line, but noticed no data working. I read that I have to flash the modem, but can't find the modem files or any directions. Been searching the forums for a few days and the closest I came to it is this thread.
For anyone still wondering, no radio flash is needed. All I did was add the apn setting (either wap.cingular or pta) and data started flowing. Getting decent HSPA speeds.
If anyone does need the CWM flashable AT&T modems, they're right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
There is also a link in the OP (in the link above) to a stand-alone modem flashing tool.
A simple browsing of the "AT&T Galaxy S III Android Development" section would have revealed this to anyone looking...
Enjoy!
It worked!

I unlcoked my phone last night, only to find out that i was getting no data. I did just that: added an APN with wap.cingular and i could see the 3G start to appear by the signal bars.
Now I can use my old AT&T sim card (from iphone 4) in my brand new Samsung Galaxy S3.
Disaster averted!
Thanks!
question for you....

[Q] HELP-N7105(LTE) not getting 3G at all with T-Mobile!!!

Hey guys! I brought my international GT-N7105 Note II LTE model from Asia and bought that unlimited cheap 30 dollar plan. I checked the towers and my area does have those refarmed 1900MHz towers from their twitter. Anyhow, first i just thought it was my house and I have drove from pasadena-los angeles - Irvine - Orange County and have yet to see ANY 3G/H/H+ signals! Always stuck on the E (2G). First I thought it was the SIM problem so I put that SIM to an iPHONE4 and guess what?! There is the T-Mobile 3G right on that upper left hand corner and speeds are decent. Anywhere from 1.5mbps-6mbps. I'm sure it can go higher but looking at that dinky screen is already enough for my eyes! Is there some specific settings I should be doing? Somehow it's NOT locking to the 3G towers from my N7105. I am planning to get Straight Talk's 45 dollar deal at Walmart and choose the ATT since it's got better coverage from what I hear. Thanks for the help in advance and Happy Holidays everybody!!!
I don't think the 7105 has 1900 band, I have 7100 and I get 3G coverage.

Thanks for the reply but according to this: http://www.smartone.com/jsp/phone/english/detail_v12.jsp?id=2553
It should have 1900MHz just like the N7100 except there's LTE which won't work. There's absolutely no excuse for it NOT to have 3G! This stinks and is frustrating!
I see that it has 1900 band but under GSM, when looking at 3G bands it has HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 - N7105 vs N7100 having HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
Dont know if it makes any difference but thats why I steered away from the LTE version.
Try this go into service mode: *#197328640# Debug screen Phone Control Network Control & Band Selection. Check if you can enable or see if you have the 1900 band under WCDMA. Might have to go under Combi Bands and select the desired bands.
Just flowing up if it worked out for u or not?

Bumping this since the op didn't respond. I am having the same trouble and I attempted the fix you provided and found that my N7105 lacks the "combi bands"
I mistakenly purchased this phone for pre-paid here in America (should have gotten the n7100) and it seems that Straight Talk doesn't have AT&T cards anymore and I'm stuck on T-Mobile's EDGE service
I have the verizon model and use it with tmobile
So the last two weeks have been the most frustratying and nerve racking weeks ever as I have tried to get tmobile service to work well with the verizon model i have. And although I am definately still irritated, i have to say that I do get 3G and HSDPA on mine, just not anywhere near my house. This has driven me crazy and until today I assumed it was my phone and the lack of certain bands howev er after purchasing a Tmobile 4G hotspot and activating it on a new 300mb plan just to see how well it works, I have found that it was never my phone that sucked at my hopuse, its Tmobiles service that sucks!. BUT... to get the best consistant coverage with the Tmobile sim in my Verizon model I did have to experiment with the APNs quite a bit, and I also upgraded the modem to the newest one released . For anyone tryinbg to do thius with the verizon model, make sure your APN for T-Mobile US or T-Mobile Data (I personally have started using it as T-Mobile Data) has "None" typed in for the username and for APN if your using LTE device type in "fast.tmobile.com" instead of the epc.tmobile...... or whatever it is. Does anyone know if flashing a modem or radio or even just the rom from the tmobile section would help at all? Or would it just **** up the phone..
Despite not getting 3g (since I lack the appropriate physical antenna apparently) I get way better cover with T-Mobile (through Straight Talk) I have to say compared to Verizon. Maybe my Note 2 is much better than my old Thunderbolt or maybe T-Mobile is just a bit better. Nevertheless every building at my university is made of reinforced concrete so you'd be hard pressed to get any reception in the classrooms. I find in places I had no service I have service, and places I had some service I have great service now.
Back on topic though:
I can get the 1900mhz through GSM but that isn't the same and my phone lacks whatever that Combi Bands thing is. So I don't know if it is a lost cause or not. I just figured I'd bring this back up since the OP never responded and I am in the same boat as they are (were?). Maybe a solution can be found or just "it ain't gonna work."
Just following up I have returned my N7105 in favor of a N7100 and get great H+ and 3G through T-Mobile/Straight Talk.

Fwiw, net10 is basically the same as straight talk. When you buy the $15 simcard pack from bestbuy for net10, it comes with 3 different sim cards in it. One of them is a micro sim that fits in the note2 and runs on at&t's network.

Same situation and same problem
The reasoning for this is because of the frequencies that your phones are capable of. The wind home network runs off 1700 mhz and 2100 mhz frequencies and your model of gs3 does not support them. The wind away network is provided through rogers so that is why you are able to connect to away.
hope this helps

I have note2, i317m from rogers. To enable AWS, I've tried flashing .qcn file and also I tried overwriting NV using QXDM. Yet, I only get to see "WIND AWAY". When I tried inserting foreign SIM, and it did display Rogers, Telus, BMS(whatever this is..)
*please ignore*
AT&T guys have tried to make their I747 models work this way with very limited success. I doubt anyone is still working on it tbh.

Sorry to awaken an old thread, but did any of you fix your problem? I'm encountering the same issue for no reason.
Had my OnePlus One for 2 years on WIND, then went to travel Europe. Worked fine roaming on cell networks there. When I got back to Canada, I was able to connect to WIND (sent a text, made a call, and used some data) for a few hours in Toronto and Vancouver. Since then (about a month) I have been unable to connect to anything but the AWAY network, on which I can't even text, call or use data...
WIND gave me a new SIM and checked my account for any problems. I tried my mom's Virgin Mobile SIM, but my OPO wasn't able to connect to that network at all (for some reason, with her SIM in my OPO, WIND still showed up in the networks with a lock icon...) And just today, I completely wiped my phone, total data and system format. Installed a new ROM, new Kernel, and flashed a couple different modems. Nothing. At. All. Absolutely madening.
Thanks in advance for any responses!

[Q] Verizon HTC One AT&T Sim

Hi,
I purchased Verizon HTC One from craigslist it was mentioned that it is pre-unlocked phone. I have used T-Mobile sim and it is working however when I tried AT&T sim in it that didn't work. It shows at top that network is AT&T but I am unable to make or receive calls. I was able to use data on AT&T's edge network ( though my sim is LTE). I know that both T-Mobile and AT&T are GSM networks and this phone is CDMA/GSM. Does anybody else using AT&T sim on Verizon HTC One? Do I have to change some kind of settings??

Hello,
I have the same Verizon phone and I'm using T-mobile network, but I can't get data started. What APN settings did you use? If
you could please help I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanx,
SiouxV
You will only get edge because Verizon blocked some of the bands that you would need for hspa speeds.

You will have to change settings to gsm/umts as att uses. Settings>mobile data> preferred network. Also Google att 3g apn settings and edit son. You won't get lte but I don't see why you shouldn't get 3g.

Weird because I have a straight talk att and tmobile SIM card with correct apn's set and I only get edge. I know tmobile reformed my area to the 1900 band too. If I pop those SIM cards in my droid DNA I can pick up HSPA speeds with the same apn settings.

That is weird. I would assume if gsm/umts is an option that HTC would have also included the correct bands but nothing surprises me these days.

I think it has only the 1900 and 800 band. Not the 850, which you also need for 3g. Or Verizon blocked those bands despite the phone being factory unlocked.

There's an app called "LTE On/Off", not sure if can download from play store, but included with certain Roms. It allows you to pick different bands. You can select HSPCA/GSM etc. Maybe this will help with other networks??
I'm not sure. On android central I have a thread there about the Verizon one. A person there says he tried it on straight talk with an att SIM and got hspa speeds. I tried both an att and tmobile SIM card in my Verizon one and only got edge with both apn settings. And tmobile rolled out the new bands where I live too. At the time my one was not rooted so I didn't have that app.

could you flash a new radio? Seems like that might help.. and if the hardware is the same and you get the bootloader unlocked, root the device, and achieve s-off could you re-flash firmware, radios, hboot and rom could it potentially operate as a modified at&t (or other gsm) htc one? sorry if this is completely wrong I'm not a firmware guy.. I know basics of rom's and installations that's about it just throwing an idea out there...
Not sure, but you could unlock your cid setting it to all 1's and flash a gsm edition Rom or ruu, flash radios too. Not sure weather it would work or not depending on the Verizon model hardware but all that stuff you can do.
Turns out the guy on android central was wrong, he was also getting edge data but didn't know it.

Are any of you who are trying to use the phone on AT&T running a custom rom, e.g. Cyanogenmod or Santod's Global Edition?
My one max works on at&t fine once you add the apn settings for at&t.
The Verizon one does not have the same frequiences unlocked that require you to have 3g. The DNA has pretty much similar radio frequiences and gets hspa but the HTC one has those bands locked so you only get edge, even with apn settings.

Great. It's usage like this that was a big contributor toward the unlimited data plans going away. Thanks. This is why we can't have nice things.
Back on topic, I'm curious as well if flashing new radios would do the trick.
They would have to be fully compatible and I'm not sure they would be. Maybe possible but I have not tried. Mainly one reason why they stopped selling the DNA.

So the consensus here is that you cant do any better than Edge service when using AT&T SIM in a VZW HTC One?
See, I just swapped my Note 3 AT&T for this phone, and Id like to be able to use data. I use AT&T prepaid but my Note was always able to pickup HSPA and LTE
Have any of you ever tried doing a factory reset from hboot? That will clear out all of the network settings from verizon, and force the phone to be reprogramed from the sim.

I have, with TikTak Google Plus Edition 2.0, I'm still only getting EDGE data (same as with stock) I have tried using a gsm rom, radio, and RUU. The phone wouldn't start with the different radio flash, the RUU would just boot cycle, and the rom would always fail (status 7, 6, 4).
I have spend about 20 hours on this flashing separate roms, radios and pretty much anything i can find
