You can use CPU Editor, It's a script that allows you to force dual core and allows a lot of customization. For instance you can run different frequencies on each core along with different govenors and so on, could be great for saving battery life too.

If you have a dual core processor in your Windows 7 computer and one of the processing cores is disabled, you have the ability to make both cores work again. Utilizing both processing cores instead of just one will substantially increase the processing performance of your computer, which will translate into faster operations.

Root your phone. Download system tuner pro from the app store got to Cpu and change the governor to performance instead of on demand... This will use a lot more battery tho.

I actually wouldn't recommend that, in some cases performance is the better govenor for performance but I heard the S3 or the S4 processor is actually optimized for the ondemand govenor. I did some tests and I noticed that they scored pretty close to the same in the benchmarks department, I noticed that the S3 gets hot when using the performance govenor and then it starts to lag here and there but I did not experience this with the ondemand govenor.
OnDemand:
Scales CPU according to the processing needs of the programs running which saves power and is still snappy as ever.
Performance:
Locks the CPU at the top frequency regardless of processing needs which drains battery and can make the S3 insanely hot.

If you read ops request... He wants to know how to make both the cores work at the same time... And I gave him the right answer regardless of what it does to the phone he wanted to know how to do it and I answered.
Now would I recommend having both cores on at all times absolutely not... Phone drains the batter and gets pretty hot.

I never said you didn't give him the right answer I was just trying to give him a bit more info on the performance govenor.

Naturally the second core will come on when it needs to based off the type of governor set. As said before performance governor locks at Max. SmartassV2 does not have smp so the second core never goes offline. Simply turning on the second core really won't give you a noticeable difference in performance.
But using root explorer or terminal emulator, setting
/sys/devices/system/CPU/CPU1/online to 1
Then change same files permission to read only will yield an always active second core.

Voltage control settings?

I'm on sfr 1.2 with genocide 1.1 final kernel, what are optimal settings for voltage control for speed, everytime I put it at 1.4 it instantly freezes and I have to pull battery, then when I put it at 1.3 it will be fine foor a little while but if I multitask like using music player the phone freezes and I must pull battery again, what should the speed mhz and voltage be?
100-1000mhz= -100uv....
1120mhz= -75uv....
1200mhz=-50uv....
1300-1400mhz=_25uv....
Going any lower with the high speeds gets me freezes and going any lower with the slower speeds gets me freezes and data corruption/loss...I've been stable for some good time with these settings

I'm on an extended battery so I can't really compare with what you'd get...but I get an average of 2 solid days out of my 2800mAh Yoobao
Going to try now

I tried those settings and my phone froze within 5 secs.
What do you have the initial front screen Mhz set at whats the min and the max set at?

Every Epic is different. I can run 1400 all day but can't undervolt at all. Some people can't run over 1200. It just depends on your phone. If things are freezing or shutting down on 1300 or 1400, your phone most likely can't handle it

The phone runs great and crazy fast at 1200 or 1300 but i was just wondering if i could get that little bit extra boost to 1400, but i guess if my phone cant handle those speeds im just going to have to be happy with fast. lol

Ill attach some shots of my new settings...I know for a fact I can't go below -100 with the lower speeds or else I instantly loose random data...if ure still optimistic u can try them...question though...does your phone still freeze up with overclocking to 1.4ghz and no undervolting?

Also, (well its probably not recommended) some people have paid for the Extreme key for Voltage Control and OVERvolted a bit to get 1400 stable but I wouldn't recommend it unless Xan says you are good. The option is there though. I have it but haven't had the need to try overvolting

Off Topic: Voltage Control Extreme showed up on my Sprint bill and I giggled.
On topic: I've never noticed any performance differences when I overvolted. What benefits have people gained? I'm using Twilight 1.1.1 at 1.3 ghz and the phone glides without extra power.

I think overvolting may help people whose phone crashes say at 1.3. If you have it stable without overvolting, I wouldn't even mess with it. 1.3 and 1.4 are already using more voltage than what's considered optimal for our phones

I find that hilarious that they decided to give up at 1.0. I know that's recommended value, but my phone never even shows any signs of instability at 1.3. In fact, it seems like it enjoys it better.

SRF 1.2 really makes it just sip at the battery. I can't believe how fast it causes it to charge. Can't wait to try Vision 1.3. I'm going to test out the 1.4 and 1.45 settings.
Im at 200-1000. 200 and 1000 -50, everything in between -75

When overclocking should the gpu get overclocked 2?

I got my phone at a stable 1.6GHz using Tegrak. Now i'm just wondering if there's any advantage from messing with the gpu or if it should be left alone?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Alot of people overclock just to do it i believe.. It does make the phone get higher scores and quicker, but does drain batt faster and also 90% of the apps are created for 600mhz-800mhz... 1ghz phone gives you that extra kick if you have alot of things going on.. Our phone is dual core 1.2ghz almost as fast as alot of laptops. Overclocking to 1.6 is awsome but UNDERCLOCKING down to 800mhz or 1ghz is a awsome way to save a little juice!... try settin it to 200mhz min and 800mhz max.... See how much longer batt you u get
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I usually under clock my cpu to 1ghz and over clock my GPU too 200 minimum and 264max. Nornal minimum is 160 i beleive. That way i get a really smooth screen amd great battery savings. Some timea i go down to 800mhz but some apps arnt perfectly smooth

leave it alone until you need it. itll just cause unnecessary battery drain. when youre trying to play shadow gun or dead space and need some oompf, go back into tegrak and lock into 267 mhz, but dont set on boot. theres my 2 cents, hope it helped

Quadrant score

I only get 3300ish same as wife's. I see a lot of people around 5000ish. I close all apps and clear ram. I am on Rogers. Just curious what score others get on Canadian phones
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
are you running stock rom/kernel? I just got a tad under 5000 without closing apps or overclocking so what your running will make a big difference.
BTW gotta say hi to a fellow Brantfordian
As stated above, you could overclock your phone.
ON stock tw I normally hover around 5000'ish. 3300 is wayyyy low. Something def going on not right

Stock Rogers 4.0.4, CPU OnDemand 384-1512mhz, /settings/developer options/Force GPU Rendering (unchecked), did not clear ram either.
Quadrant Standard = 4990
Quadrant Pro = 4350
Not that the numbers mean much to me, but these are the numbers you can expect. Perhaps your CPU governor/scaling is set low or deifferent than mine....or also, do you have POWER SAVE enabled?
Yes stock. I rooted and tried various rooms same score. I'm not bothered by the score just checking if others get dame score. I do have power saving on so will try tonight without it. Thanks for all the input guys. I'm trying to get a good base for comparison to jb whenever Rogers gives it to us
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
Power saving might be throttling the CPU so that its not running its fastest to save power. Definitely try without power saving and let us know.
I'm on CM10 with the ktoonsez kernel not overclocked and I average about 5000, give or take maybe 500. I really can't remember what I got on stock, its been so long
You guys nailed it. I went into power saving screen and turned off the cpu part and got 4955

Great to hear that RegBuckly.
You should FEEL a noticeable difference with certain apps, games or launcher now that you have full speed CPU scaling.
(don't for get to press the thank you button)
I'm getting 3866 in Quadrant (Normal: 5325) and 9586 in AnTuTu (Normal: 16301). Something's wrong, those are almost half what they should be.
I'm running ParanoidKANGDroid and set the CPU to "Performance" in case it was doing some powersaving stuff... is there another powersaving setting I'm missing? I turned off GPS and Sync. I even put it in the damned freezer. I've run both benchmarks multiple times after reboots and all of that and it's pretty consistent with those scores.
:crying:

Well sorry but it definitely makes my system faster no matter what these other people say. I find for instance that Tapatalk can get hung up quite easily but when I run this mod forums load instantly every time.
So, try it out and see for yourself.
Or instead of using the app (since it murders the battery life) you could just change the min frequency of your CPU to like, 600mhz or higher and it does the same thing as this app

No it doesnt do the same thing. I have my cpu set at 1800 performance and this mod clearly makes a difference above and beyond that.
And it may burn battery a bit faster but it doesn't "murder" your battery. I've been heavily using my phone with the mod on for 6 hours and have used about 40% of the battery. Pretty normal burn rate for browsing, texting and watching netflix non stop.

How much do you undervolt?

My S3 was getting really hot after rooting so I decided to try undervolting. I was able to under volt each clock speed by -100mv, and my device hasn't seen any performance issues, runs cool, and battery lasts way longer! What do you guys keep you voltage settings at?

It doesn't matter what other people UV since all devices are different. I can reach -125 all steps (haven't tried farther) but some others can barely do -25. It's just how their device is built.

I understand. I'm just wondering what people are running at
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
The reason I personally don't do both under clocking and over clocking is that the phone itself isn't made for that. I personally don't know what this phone can handle. I have seen people under clock and over clock phones and have it work while some people have phones that can't handle much at all especially the refurbished ones. My S3 handles it well but I only tried it out once. That's my feeling on the subject. If you do do either undervolting, under clocking or over clocking just remember to do it responsibly and not put it to highest power and leave it there.
