HI guys,
I've got a t-mobile s3(running Xquizit_XD 29) and currently reside in Australia but noticed that the t-mobile tethering wont allow itself to be turned on(I found a way by using I believe wanams widget icon and hitting enable), is their a way to go to the default tethering by install a new apk or deleting t-mobiles tethering.
My provider fully allows tethering but I'm assuming the t-mobile app is looking for it's simcard/network and settings and isn't happy with the different provider.
Thanks once again.

New to T-Mobile coming from an unlimited Verizon plan with native unlimited tethering courtesy of the custom rom on my S3. Now that I have the Note 3 what are my options? I have rooted the phone but not applied any rom/recovery/bootloader.
- Native tethering cuts me off at 2.5 gigs for the unlimited plan, do I have that right?
- Wifi tether from the market does not work, tried it...
- Foxfi would beat the T-Mobile tracking allowing unlimited tethering?
- Would a custom rom delivery unlimited tethering from the native app?
Hey, I have been looking for a way to tether as well and I just found it. I am running the lastest version of Darthstalker ROM version 5. It has native tethering. Once you get that installed, go to your APN settings and change APN protocol from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6. If you need any help, please let me know. Good luck!

Now I could already use the native tether (even before rooting) but there was some limit from what I read. Has anyone hit that limit?
Does using the rom allow you to bypass the limit?
I don't know for sure on the Note 3, but on my Note 1 with CM10.2 (now CM11) I am able to tether as much as I want on a non-tethering prepaid plan. When I try the same thing on my Note 3 (using N9005 ROM so no T-Mo modified tether menu) it successfully connects the laptop but only ever goes to the T-Mobile account login website when I try browsing. I tethered on a train ride last weekend and had to swap my SIM over to my Note 1 for tethering. Is this due to the IPv4/IPv6 issue? I have the Note 1 set to IPv4 because the CM10.2 ROM crashed on IPv6 randomly.

I believe T-Mobile gives you 2.5 GB of free tethering. When I tether it uses my unlimited data. I checked my plan online and it said I used over 38 GB of data.
Edit: I forgot to mention that you have to use a browser spoofer to prevent tmobile from knowing you're tethering. I mainly use Chrome browser and I have it set as if it's android.

Hey everyone,
I have been a searching and searching for new ways to get my fully unlimited 4G mobile internet through HotSpot, and up until 6 months ago, the changing of APN setting in "Mobile Networks" from epc.tmobile.com (Regular) to fast.tmobile.com (LTE) had worked and adding dun to the authentication types, but in the last week the HotSpot Block screen popped up again and I am now forced to revert to using user-agents to use the unlimited mobile internet I paid highly for, through my phone's HotSpot, like I had to before. Is there someone who knows a new way to get around this, without rooting my phone or paying for an app on Google Play?!

The "APN" dun method is not working anymore for me either, I configured the settings correctly in the AP and got past the 5GB threshold but was only able to use my stock hotspot unlimited for one day up until now it has stopped working and reverted back to the upsell screen page with no fix has T-Mobile finally figured it out and cracked down or something? I don't want to root my phone! I want another method for none rooted users!!! Someone please help.
I've got an L34C branded for Tracfone/Net10 running on PagePlus, and noticed that it does not ship with a wifi hotspot app. I understand that the Zone 2 is basically the same exact phone, but branded for Verizon PP service and does include a hotspot app.
Possible to cross flash a Zone 2 image onto the L34C, or maybe extract just the hotspot app and tweak a few settings to get hotspot working on the L34C?
This was easily done on Sprint with the note 8 and s8 with Quick short cut maker app and editing LATE APN settings by adding the value DUN. It would essentially allow you to by pass the 10 gig 4g limit on your hotspot plan by tricking the carrier into thinking your using the phone for normal usage. Is there a way to do this on Verizon? Quick short cut maker doesn't work on Verizon, when I inserted the Sim it must of locked the APN settings when I converted over from Sprint.
bump, this would be extremely useful for us who tether if anyone has an answer/idea. I've experimented with VPN and have been unsuccessful in circumventing throttle.
Any luck with this?

I am interested in this too. Although I am running a mxpe, I have tried several things including the net.tether.noprovisioning=true edit to build.prop, the global dun=0 through adb shell, VPN's, and FoxFi. Nothing has worked as of lately. FoxFi had been working up until about 2 months ago, but apparently Verizon changed something and that no longer works (according to the folks at PDA Net). The only other thing I can think of is changing APN settings. It appears I can easily change these in my mxpe, but does anyone know which APN is used for tethering and which is used for normal phone usage? Does Verizon even use different APN's for the purpose of tracking tethering usage?
Anyone with cricket and the oreo update installed:

Even if it doesn't there's always a way to get tethering to work. There's a app called wifi tether on play store will work might need root though
yea... but I really want to avoid root....
should work
Any phone that isn't carrier locked should work. Cricket auto setup the internet apn and a tethering apn when I first put the sim card in my 7x. If it does this just delete the tethering apn and you should be good to go. Unlocked phones don't have the carrier firmware that notifies them if the hotspot is on or give them the ability to control hotspot access.
Nice thread. I'm also a cricket customer and once I get the update I'll give it a test and report it back here ?
It's dead
I updated today with the SE NA keyone. I can confirm the update will kill your free hotspot tethering. I've even tried creating other APNs with no luck. I tried using pda+ as well and that did not work.
