I believe Google wallet still works even though there is the unsupported device banner, but I know in the evo lte ROMs even though they were root the banner would not show. Is there something similar for the nexus. It was on means ROM if that is helpful at all.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
The only reason the Verizon GalNex is "unsupported" is because Verizon told Google to say so. That doesn't change the fact that the GalNex has NFC and is perfectly-capable of running Wallet. Just gotta side load it...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The "unsupported device" banner comes from being rooted, the app still functions. There might be a modded version in the themes & apps section but I always just ignored the banner.
Even when I side load the app it directs me to the Google Play store.
I'm using the official apk from my Nexus 7.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I will look there and see, but for now what I have done is disable root within super su. After a phone reboot the app doesn't show unsupported anymore. My only worry with the unsupported banner is that it may be logged somehow during a transaction and if it went bad or I got double charged Google would basically tell me to go **** myself.

When you open the Wallet app you don't see a banner that states "unsupported device"? (I'm not talking about in the Play Sore)

It isn't possible, they only ever included a female body.
By the way you can actually download this straight from the market. For some reason it doesn't come up when you do a search but just follow this link:https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.body

Probably because you are selecting browser to compete the action instead of market (you need to view the link from your phone)
I've tried the link on several devices and it works on all of them.

Doesn't work for me either using market, comes up Item not found with a retry button. Might be because were in the US. The megaupload link worked for me though.
The link does not work here in the UK, either using the market or the browser. It shows "item not found" when using the market.

The official came out today, this is it.
This is an unaltered official apk, signed by Google. It's 100% safe and google can push future updates to it. It was ripped from a Galaxy Nexus but it's scaled and worked on 6 of my development devices, including my Nexus 7.

It will need to be updated.
I don't like the new UI, too minimalistic and bright, doesn't match the Holo interface (I wish Google allowed to change the Email, Gmail, Google+, Chrome, etc. UI from white to black)
It looks terrible, it looks better dark. And the apps are way too big. The new categories are the only small benefit.

The App Installs but I get an error that says unsupported device or network. I'm on Sprint.
I was getting the unsupported warning and when I clicked the "learn more" link it said because I was rooted. I flagged back to stock and now the app won't finish the setup, called Google, said they know about the issue and that they're working on a fix.

Solution for me when Google Wallet wouldn't finish the set-up process and say "try again". Log into your online Google Wallet account and click on "Settings". There is a section labeled "Verification". Even though I had used Google Wallet many times and never had any problems, this section had not been verified.
I answered some of the questions and it was accepted online. I then went back to my mobile Google Wallet and tried it and now it works! I hope this helps. Have a great day!

Waited, and then it finished loading

Chose funding source (still stored my previous entries from when I had my Sprint GNEX)
Does say "Unsupported Device" up at the top, but from what I remember GW will still function as it should. It's just letting you know that Google isn't going to help you if you run into any issues since you rooted your device and removed some of the security.
I have yet to actually try a purchase with my phone, but once I do I will report back and confirm working or not.

I find it hard to believe they don't have a working Google wallet considering Mr. Pachai has been using this tablet for months. I'm sure the update will come, hopefully others update their apps too. I think its more of a 4.3 thing than a hardware thing but it could be both. I doubt that they will restrict the new one if the old one used it. BTW there is already a thread for this in q&a section.

The new N7 doesn't have a secure element NFC chip, Wallet will never be (officially) supported for it.

Come on guys, this forum has been open for only a few days and there already is fighting. The point of the matter is that if someone asks a question, do your be best to answer without being a douche. Too much on this site have I seen people judging people for what they want to do with their device (such as taking pictures or using wallet with a tablet, trying to get instagram to work, etc.), its their device and they can do whatever they like with it. No one made you the official judge of whats cool or not! So play nice and help out your fellow members in this Dev community without your personal opinions reflecting in your post

That Androidpolice story is a bit confusing. Does it say that it will never be compatible due to lack of security chip or it may be compatible in the future with updates?
Will never be compatible due to the lack of the secure element chip.
