I'm on cm10 unofficial alpha ..I tried the temp boot both of the the el29 and the ff18 one at reboot of ROM nothing happened I stayed in cwm. So would I be able to one click el26 get a gos lock and flash my back up of cm10? Or any other suggestions love the cm10 ROM but need GPS thanks for your help and suggestions
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium HD app
Pretty sure you need to go back and get a GPS lock like you said, but then install your rom fresh, not use a backup. You wouldn't want to run a jb backup on a gb setup anyhow, maybe it would be fine but sounds like issues at best to me.

ok so my plan of action is oneclick el26 get a gps lock once locked flash cm10 reboot and restore my back up ? anyone have any other suggestions ?
Was just reading up about this actually because I switched to cm9 and have no GPS now haha. Seems best way is to flash the temporary el26, start up and get a GPS lock, turn off and it will go back to recovery, then flash back to whatever you were using. Since its a temporary, nothing changes while you do this. Don't have to bother with restoring a backup.

Yea I know about that post but when I go to flash the temp el29 or ff18 it never reboots and stays in cwm doesn't reboot so can't get a lock on

Hmm. Must be a seperate issue, have seen a few posts about it. Well, in that case, if it were me, I would try what you said in your second post and see if it works. Possibly skip the backup part and just rebuild from the fresh from.

Either. I do mobile. Flash the el26 tar and it will reboot. Hold power + volume up till you get to cwm. Then wipe and flash new rom per instructions of it's op. Good luck.
Edit: most ics roms don't include a custom recovery for a reason. Always Odin to el26 first, it's the safest way right now.

My man, there really is no further explanation here. Honestly, if you can't figure out what to do with those instructions or the other 100 threads, you really shouldn't be messing with ics. I know you've already bricked one, don't make another.

Hello, before anyone yells at me for not searching and reading the tutorials, let me just say that I have been doing research here and there for several days now and haven't found the answers.
I want to know if it is possible to go straight to ICS without going back to stock. I'm on Blazer 4.1 running Steadyhawkins rogue kernel.
I heard that there is a safe kernel. Can I flash a ICS from straight from CWM GB recovery? Do I then flash Agats kernel. The steps to the process confuse me. Please help.
Thanks

Last "safe" recoveries were el26 from chris41g and I believe there is also an el29 auto boot w cwm...use either to safely flash ics roms, both aosp and tw based.

Can someone link me to those threads that I would need?
Basically, I need to .tar a el26 recovery? Then I can flash whatever I want? Or I need to .tar a stock el29 recovery and I can flash any rom?
Thanks

So basically I was having issues with my phone and ended up getting a warranty replacement. So b4 I sent my old one back I needed to revert it back to stock. I found a flashable zip from zedomax that returned the stock kernel, recovery, and ROM. Only thing it was 2.3.5 gingerbread. I was running infamous 3.1 and did darkside super wipe and cache., well after flashing the zip I got the stock recovery, and part of stock boot animation, well after the stock boot animation then came the infamous animation then nothing. It wouldn't boot up past that.,I ended up using Odin and fixing it and converted stock that way. My question is... Is there a special method going from ics to gb?

Yeah just use odin or a flashable zip to return to stock no big deal
I know how to Odin and get stock...I'm asking if there's anything special to go from an ics ROM to a GB ROM? BC when I did it I soft bricked, using all the darkside
Wipes.

I have flashed from GB to ICS back and forth a few times never really had an issue like that the only real issue I have ever had was a few apps force closing but a quick wipe of the cache took care of that issue

don't use the CWM flashable zips. if you do you should flash the rom and kernel too? you probably did but sometimes it doesn't work correctly. I would suggest flashing via odin to get to stock then wipe data/factory reset through stock recovery. that is the cleanest method to get to stock. the CWM flashing to zip sometimes leave stuff behind from earlier flashes.
So two days ago I rooted + installed cm10, I was having some issues so I did a dark side wipe and re-installed cm10 after that I didn't not think I had wiped my phone properly so I went back and did the factory rest wipe... Well oops... Now my phone won't do a darkside wipe or install cm10. It just sits on the installing text. I was able to use my back up which also seems very bugged, when I try to restart it just sits on the goodbye screen (just one of the big things I've noticed). What do I need to do to fix this, please explain in laymen terms so I can fix this, thank you and sorry for my ignorance....

I'm using rom manager with clockwork mod flash option, it worked before but just freezes my phone now when i try to use it. As far as dont use darkside, I dont really know what else to use. My phone isnt letting me install anything in recovery mode so I'm kind of lost...

How do you do this? I assumed the only option was to use the back up I created.
Just go to recovery wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, then under mounts format storage

Get it into download mode, and flash a newer recovery with Odin. Then flash any rom with the newer recovery. And don't use ROM manager until you know a bit more of what you're doing.

Just checking, you know titanium backup can save all your apps and data? Flashing a kernel, then flashing stock back over it isn't exactly a fresh start and may leave you with the odd strange issue. Or not.
Still I'd recommend backing up your stuff and wiping everything, especially the system partition and doing a clean install.
That's what I would do anyway. Just my opinion tho.
