[Q] Jedi Mind Trick v9 - BLN Service? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I can't seem to get the BLN service to work. I've tried both BLN and NSTools and nothing seems to work. I also tried to flash the Hercules kernel to it thinking maybe it had an older version in the rom but still the same issue. Any suggestions great appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried BLN control from the playstore. I recommend the paid version, it has an option to blink.

It won't blink, unless its the paid version. If not, the backlights turn on with a notification, and stay on, till you check your message, or set a time limit.

Well that is what I'm trying to say. The backlights never turn on when I should have a notification...

OK I just got BLN Control Pro. When I test it it works. It only seems to notify on a missed call and not when I get an email. Any way to change this?

Am I the only one having issues with BLN and email or SMS notification lights?

Email should work, but if youre using the stock SMS app, it wont. That requires a tweak to the stock messaging apk. The free version of BLN worked for me just fine on JMT v9 when I was on it.

Working for me with the e-mail, but have to find a workaround because it wasn't working with the stock sms app. I D/L SMS Popup from the market. You gonna have to disable the notifications in your SMS APP and enable in SMS Popup, you can also enable or disable the popup notification if u want it or not... OR just change your SMS APP like Handcent SMS or GOsms, but i like the stock one and wanted to stick with it!!!
For your e-mails, is your notifications are enabled ???? you can also try third party app... I've read a lot about this BLN Mod and it's always a matters of screen turning on or not when notifications are coming.

I have notifications turned on for the status bar. When an email comes in I hear the sound and I get the notification... just no BLN. I'm going to backup and reflash JMT9 and see what it does on a clean slate.

Well just did a clean install and install BLN then setup my email and still the same issue. I'm at a loss at this point. This is a Microsoft Exchange email account that I'm setting up if it makes any difference.

[Q] Handcent - New to Samsung

Just upgraded my Evo to the Epic 4G Touch, and I'm a fan of Handcent for messaging, and prefer its notifications over the stock messaging app. On the Evo, if you disabled notifications in the stock messaging app, you just didn't get them.
On this phone, I get notifications no matter what.
Any clues?
open stock app, press menu, uncheck notifications.
im using handcent like i did on evo and get no stock notifications. i also replaced the stock app button w/ the handcent app. only problem...it doesnt have a little counter showing me how many msgs i have.

Are you saying you're getting double notifications via both stock sms and handcent event though you've disable them in the stock app or are you saying you're still getting them from handcent even though you've disable them in the stock app?
In a nutshell, you'll get them from either or both if you haven't disabled the individual notifications in each app, i.e. stock sms and/or handcent. Make sense?
I believe there is a plug in in the market for that

a plug in that works similar to the handcent widget'? of the three interchangble scrolling buttons, only apps are allowed to be used. the handcent widget works fine, its just not selectable as a button i can use on the 4button scrolling bar.
OP did you disable notifications in the STOCK app and STILL get notified?

I have no issues with the notifications, however I do have Force close issues with Handcent on my phone. Is anyone else experiencing the occasional freeze up? I usualy have to task kill it or wait till I get the force close option, but it happens pretty often.

No LED app Alternative?

Apologize if this already exists.
would it be possible for one of the talented developers in our forum to add an option to have the four buttons (menu, home, back, search) blink to notify of a new message, email, missed call, etc? or maybe be able to choose a button for a particular event, like menu button flashes for new emails, home button flashes for missed calls, etc.
Try noled from the market.

thanks for the replies. yeah, i am using noled as well and it works well. i was just thinking being able to have the backlight of the buttons flash as a notification instead of the screen would use less battery. does noled have that option and i am missing it?

BLN (back light notification) is an app that allows the 4 capacitive buttons on our phone or any other Android device to blink as a notification whenever you receive a message, missed call, voicemail etc. You can download the app from the Android market but for now it will be useless to us because we do not have a kernel to support this feature. You must first be rooted and then flash a custom kernel that has BLN enabled in order to use the app/function. I believe that a custom kernel is in the works since all Galaxy S phones had custom kernels to support this feature. Even the Nexus S (which isn't Galaxy S) supported this feature once a custom kernel was installed. For now I recommend downloading and using NO LED (can be found in the MARKET) in the meanwhile.

I keep my haptic feedback set very low. Missed message flasher seems to vibrate at the same intensity as haptic feedback so it's nearly useless. Does this happen to yours or am I doing something wrong?

[Q] CM10: Can anyone suggest a way to get BLN working for GoSMS?

I cannot get it working for either Handcent or GoSMS.
I've tried using the native CM10 settings for third party apps.
I tried a fresh, clean flash with only Handcent installed.
Tried BLN
Tried LightFlow
The only way that I've *sorta* got it working is with the Tasker plugin for BLN Pro. The issue with that was that it only flashes once about every 15 seconds and doesn't turn off sometimes.

On handcent, disable the pop up notification and disable notifications on the stock sms. Should work with bln control. Paid version blinks.

[Q] Any way to disable email LED notification w/o disabling all?

I'd like to have notification for missed calls or calendar events but for every email I get, cmon! My led is unfortunately constantly flashing due to email which renders it useless. I've set up handcent to flash green but I;d love to have more control over LED customizing. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Dave
Look into the Tasker app, it has amazing capabilities to customize your phone. If you find yourself asking "I wish my phone did/didn't do this/that"; then you probably could use Tasker.
Do you know if that app will in fact allow me to turn off led notification for email? hate to spend $7 to find out It wont.
Thanks
Dave

Id like to retain the notification email.
Light flow, lite manager or blink might provide the control you need to accomplish this
All are in the market and are either free or have a free version

Now i'm really baffled. I turned off all LED notifications in LED indicator under display and also all email notifications in the email app and it is still flashing blue while showing the email icon in the task bar when I get an email. ***Figured it out, had to go into my exchange settings and disable notfication there too. NO idea why it is in two spots. Oddly even if I have all LED notifications disabled I get a flashing blue LED whenever I get an email if notifications are enabled. Doesn't appear that any of these LED apps will override that.

[Q] Stock Messaging App Settings

Hello,
I currently like the way the stock messaging app is, and have been unsatisfied with Handcent and GoSMS. My only only gripe is how the screen turns on when a SMS is received. I installed FreeGS3 and was moderately satisfied with it, however once it came to phone calls I had an echo of myself through my speaker, despite whether or not I have a headset plugged in or a bluetooth headset. So I reverted to stock again, but really like the SMS options that they had in FreeGS3. I'm not here to fix the echo, so please do not bother, I am not a noobie but this is the first post I've ever done on XDA as I am not a big question asker. I generally figure things out on my own but am stumped.
I tried installing the FreeGS3 messaging app (SecMMS.app) and it does not show the advanced options that show up in FreeGS3. Is there any way to stop the screen from turning on on stock [rooted] when I receive an SMS? Obviously the makers of FreeGS3 managed to implement that setting in the messaging app, so did I copy the wrong app?
Thank you!
