I have installed cm10 nightly 10/10/12. I coming up with more and more questions about it. Is there somewhere I can read about it to know more about it? For instance. Is s voice, and direct wifi gone? Can i get it back? Can I get gestures on the lock screen added to launch apps? Can I hold down my vol keys to skip track forward and back? What changes have been made that allow me to get this kind of battery life?

Depending on the launcher/locker, certain ones will allow you to add apps to the stock JB lockscreen. Otherwise Im not sure you can do much about it. S Voice is gone, not sure about Direct Wifi but I recommend using Google now in place of S Voice as its much more successful. As for volume rocker to skip track you could check in the settings. I'm not sure if your battery life is good or bad?
The batt life is way better since Cm10. I don't see volume rocker settings anywhere. I heard power amp has it but searched the whole app and can't find it

Guys i've been looking and researching on how to make this possible i know it can be done because i had it in a past ROM but i forgot which one it was, can anyone guide me on how i can accomplish this?
I know in CM6's stock music player, you just hold down one of the volume keys while the screen's off and it'll go back/forward with tracks.

oh now i remember that was the ROM i used to use but i want to have this feature on a sense ROM any ideas on how this is done?
I'm looking to get this feature in another rom as well. I tried to push the apk and that worked fine.
But, the Volume Rocker to skip songs feature does not work.

Nope. Not without actually writing one apparently. Shame really, as I love it too, but swithed away because there is no widget.
It integrates perfectly into the notification tray, so just pull down to access the controls. I like how you can even control from the lockscreen without having to unlock.
Guys use, Cubed!!

yes true, but i would love to have it fill a section of my homescreen so i can look at the album art
sounds good. too bad samsung did't go all the way with the intergration by creating a widget for it. but the fact that you can access the music controls while the phone screen is locked is very good. i like how they implemented it.
Alright guys, I don't care that there is no widget for the player, but I DO care that I can't change the songs with the volume buttons, which is REALLY annoying

As their name says, volume buttons are to control the sound volume, so what do you expect...
Mixzing is a rather good music player I found. Sorry I'm aware it means you wont be using the default Samsung one, but this one is loaded with features, has a custom EQ, 3 widgets and you can control it from the lock screen. I paid for the nicer version of it as it's something I now use everyday.

I'd really like something like this. Like on the iPhone headphones when you double click the button on the headphones it changes song, saves you from having to go into your pocket all the time.

I expect when my screen is Off, holding VolUp or VolDown to change the songs.
This is a natural way to do it.

And if I want to change the volume, what should I do? Unlock the device first ?
Shaking the device to go to the next song is much better I think.
Yeah... especially great for runners.. changing the song every 5 sec when you run fast! great idea!
Do you change the volume every 5 sec when you run?
In jpk, volume works with screen locked.

Guys, stop pulling legs.
My 5 year old WM2003SE phone has all the customizable buttons for everything. Hold the camera button and I program it to start the music player. Several other customizations.
I still can't believe on this "advanced", so called "flexible" phone, I don't have the option of customizing buttons (other than power button to end the call).
Worse, the music player plays every junk after it has to scan for music and video each time we restart the phone or unmount and mount the memory cards.
I would like to see a way to tell the phone to scan only particular folders and best it should SAVE the scanned items rather than being ABSOLUTE DUMB to scan each time it restarts the phone or mount a card. WHY SHOULD IT SCAN in the first place? We could just tell it like every other phone or music player app to "Search a folder" when needed!
I would appreciate some discussion on this. Sorry for diverting from this thread. I could start a new one to discuss, if needed.
There is a way to change the songs with HOLDING (not just pressing) the VolUp button, but nobody wants to give me a hand. I need some developers help.
I don't know how to decompile apk files or something like that.

I understand you, its like on every Sony Ericsson's phone.
Holding "-" - change song to next
Holding "+" - change song to previous
Pressing "-" - reducing volume
Pressing "+" - increasing volume
I want it more than android 2.2
Cool, I'd too like to see this implemented! Also, double-tap on the headset's button to change the track would be nice.

Motorola's S9 have control button on the earphone, you can change songs with them whenever you want (wasn't working with Android on vogue)
you might want to check them out!
Hey guys,
i am searching for a mod for the custom roms (i have leedroid now), where it's possible to change the music track if the screen is off.
for example by pressing the "search" button for the next and the "back" button for the previous song.
I saw that it's possible in OpenDesire and Cyanogenmod to change the track by holding the volume buttons and another mod calling "search2play".
But is it possible to do this with the other hard-buttons by giving them a special action, when you are pressing them.
Thanks

I have been looking for this function too, I was searching media player that can do that and only one I found was astro nova... but you have to press unlock to switch to lock screen and here it is possible to switch songs by long pressing up and down volume buttons
but this is not the best solution, hope there is something better (somthing very simillar to sony ercicsson walkman features)
no idea??
Either use the headset that came with your phone or stop being lazy
I am sure there is something out there, if not, it is possible. You would need to ask a dev.
hehe fine. I'm searching now for a solution for a long time....
I tried to ask in the developers forum but i can't because i haven't got enough posts
i think it would be a great tool for the desire, if someone could create one.
How I said before: it's annoying to switch on the display if i want to play the next or previous song. I haven't got any control buttons on my earphones either- normal AKG IN-Ear.
In the Oxygen 2.0 RC7 ROM, with the screen off, you can skip tracks by a long-press of the volume buttons. Works for next track and previous on stock music player as well as a few others. Can't remember which ones...I'm using PowerAMP and it works for that.
yes i knew that but didn't try it.
so if it's possible to do that, there must be a possibility to do this with the other buttons...
I hope some of the developers read the thread otherwise i think it's a good idea to implement this function (choose a button for action) into a rom.
It is possible to re-map the buttons but I have no idea how it's done, sorry.
yes thanks. i will try to send a massage to a developer team to ask them.
but if there are any ideas please post here.
Is there anyway I can temporarily remove the Soft Keys when I am playing games on my device? Possibly pressing Volume Up & Power (similar to taking screenshots), re-enabling by the same method?
I downloaded Shadowgun last night and found myself pressing the soft buttons by mistake.
Is this in anyway possible?
Stewart
AOKP has the option...
And I know that isn't what you're asking.
I hate when people post work-a-rounds to something I ask <_<
But...there ya go.
get AOKP rom or codenameandroid rom and both have a power menu option where you can disable it.
You just long press the power key and press the option to disable navigation bar and to reenable it you just long press power key again and then choose to enable.
I am happy with the ROM I have, hopefully there will be a way to port this to other ROMS?
Thanks for the replies though!
GummyNex also has this. I'd say ask your ROM developer if he will add it. Really I think that's the only way to do it. If you had to change it manually how would you get out of Shadowgun to change it back?

You learn something everyday. I use that ROM and never noticed that option in the power menu. (Or perhaps I noticed it but ignored it because I didn't know what it did).
Thanks!
I am runnining this ROM:
[ROM][4.1.1][GSM][PRIMOU]Android Open Kang Project Jellybean
and it should be the 10/8/12 build.
I cannot send picture texts (it says "downloading" and then it doesn't go anywhere no matter if wifi/data are on. How can i fix this?
Also, i find the jellybean multitasking button useless if it doesn't bring up the multitasking apps instead of having to hold the home button. How can i remap this?
Also, if i were to re-rom my old stock rom can i still upload a kernel onto it to make it overclocked? Also, is the music app found in CM10 because on this rom its missing, i had to use a 3rd party music app to get this done.
Please help me with my questions, all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
