No problem, this is by far better than any enhancement Ive heard, and dont use any cheap speakers if you enable bass boost in dsp manager, lol
This is not development, more like an add-on.
Not sure if it would be best in apps or themes.

This is great because this was always one of the advantages iPhone had over and it was sound volume and quality. With these mods its just another reason to stay away from iOS

Updated the OP with an experimental version for GB MTD roms, try it out?
Its a tough call for my ears to notice any difference..
Prior to flashing this, I was using my Hi-Fi Sennheiser CX880s, Voodoo Sound + PowerAmp Pro with Rock set as the equalizer... sounds about the same, if anything less powerful, but idk.
Note: All my music is Flac @ 1032kbps. So.. no change I can tell with these audiophile ears..
Edit: Maybe this isn't even taking effect for me or something?
I should probably remove some factors and re-listen to my music with Stock CM10, no Voodoo Sound, or PowerAmp Pro listen carefully, then flash this, listen to it again, and decide if its enough to replace PowerAmp Pro + Voodoo Sound.
Double Edit:
Test 1: With Voodoo Sound, this mod, & Poweramp Pro, it sounds just about as good as it did without the mod.
Without PowerAmp Pro, and using Apollo Player + DSP Rock Equalizer + Voodoo Sound.. although my Sennheisers still sound amazing, it sounds like ****.
Will evaluate the next test as I said I would without the other tweaks and see if it is still worth it.
Test 2: I tried without any mods. Of course, it sucked. Although trying poweramp pro, it sounded better. I then flashed this, tried with Apollo, I *think* I heard its effect, seemed to give a slightly muddier bass, I then went on and messed with DSP equalizer, put it to rock, then to bass, then I added bass boost into the mix, I the went from slight to extreme.. slightly more noticeable bass? Went to dynamic compression, set the effect to louder/extreme, sounded like muddy bass/trying too hard. I then got out of that tried poweramp pro and it still sounded better, even the bass equalizer preset sounded better than DSP's, I then proceeded to flat on equalizer preset and adjusted the bass knob on poweramp pro, still sounded like a champ.
The verdict: I'll stick to Voodoo Sound + PowerAmp pro with my CX880s and Flac Music @ 1032 kbps.
THANK YOU though OP for posting this, I just couldn't get better sound with my carefully selected setup. I do encourage users who listen to mp3s and cheaper earphones to give this a shot though. Who knows? Maybe your sound quality will try to compensate and mimic my hi-fi setup.

Hi, I just found this and went with flashing it on GummyNex ROM.
It works well. Better and cleaner than vol+ apps in my opinion.
Credit goes to CyanogenMod and RootzWiki teams. I'm just letting users know about it and requesting ROM creators to include this in their builds. Thanks

To those who have tried, does this boost only the media/music volume? My ringtones seem to play at the same volume. Thanks.
Im using paid version oferece Volume+, it is working very well with ringtone.

Thank you very much
Can someone please explain how to turn up in call volume and external speaker volume (speaker phone, notifications, etc) using DSP manager. I have been using Volume + pro but figured I would also try out DSP
Thanks
My Settings:
Enable Bass Boost
Effect Strength: Extreme
Enable Equalizer
Preset: Bass Booster
Can I flash this with a rooted Stock Rom? Volume+ doesn't seem to work here.

Very good find. Working on AOKP 14.
Hi,
I use Volume+ (pro).
I wanted to test ...Nothing for me for notifications and ringtones...
I flashed your ZIP and of course before i uninstalled Volume+ due to incompatibility between the two.
For me no improvement for notifications and ringtones, light for music/media for speaker (not bad). And i searched for best settings...
What i mean, those who say that Volume+ does not work would not be to bad to bad settings???
Volume+ offers much settings, that may need to be tested...For both my Sensation and Gnex i uses this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362335 (there are other settings arround the web,but those are good for me)+ i ticked Speaker Modifications in the first part and Virtual Room Effect,in the last part just adjust the Volume Level for your desire...and it works for all the sounds coming out of speakers and, yes, included the ringtones,etc...
For me,aokp rom,Volume+ works great.
For example on my HTC Sensation with CM7 i never heard an improvement in ringtones (comes with DspManager) but with Volume+ i see the difference...
So,sorry for the little off-topic (i know it's not the topic of Volume+),but since I just test your ZIP i give my opinion about it...
In any case i do not understand why Volume + does not work for everyone (ringtones/notifications) ,problems in settings
And why DspManager works for a few for ringtones/notifications and not for the others
And "vice versa"
Strange for me

Make sure you go into Settings, then Sound and click Music Effects. You will then choose "Volume+" instead of the stock "MusicFX". I tried Volume+ and it didn't work until I did this. I hope this helps anyone else having a problem with Volume+.

Hey XDA, new member here trying to get past the 10 post limit so I can dive into the Android Development Forum. I've always trusted XDA's members for the best for my EVO, have had it for 2 years and have experimented with quite a few ROM/kernel/mod combinations, and I'm just starting to post. My question is, what has been the best sound setup you have come across with the EVO, and why, how, etc.
I've tried maaany things, but I seem to find the best sound quality in Sense ROMs with DSP Manager, no Beats or ACID sound mods. Just throw in PlayerPro with DSP pack and it feels like your a sound engineer at a Rush concert. Can anyone 1up that?
Cheers.

you are really playin the game of personal opinions here. i have to agree with you dsp manger with a eq built in to the player is a good way to go. I currently use winamp pro with dsp but on cm7.2 and it sounds real solid. I have a galaxy nexus i actually use dsp and aosp with but i havent quite dedicated it to music as much since its only 16 in comparison to the 32 gb i have in my evo.

Ok, I'll bite!
Tried quite a few sound mods - my favorite combo is:
AC!D Audio Engine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002367&highlight=acid
then flashing this
Megabass Audio Booster: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074977
On CM7 base roms it adds a modified DSP EQ
On CM9/CM10 roms it adds a modified Beats DSP EQ
With the AC!D engine as a base, I found nothing that sounds better!
So you're recommending the cm9 base?

Why don't you try Some good Music Players.I'll Suggest Poweramp or Neutron Music Player.
Poweramp Music Player: Good Balance between intuitive ui and good sq.
Neutron Music Player : Arguably without eq has better sound quality than
poweramp at the expense of ui (below average actually)
Hope this helps

Hi ALL!
Ever wanted to have a real bass boost effect on your Galaxy S3 GT-I9300? Sure you have heard off beats bass mods but have they ever worked for you?
So far, I have been tinkering around on Sony Audio effects mod, Beatsbass mods and none of them gave me the best bass boost I ever wanted until I tried using this one small library and audio config. I have created a flashable zip for this so just flash it via clockwork recovery.
Requirements for Your Satisfaction:
- Android default MusicFX
- Google Play Music app
- Remove other soundfx modifications
- Stock kernel (may work with other kernels but not tested)
- Stock ROM (may work with other ROMs but not tested)
- Android Jelly Bean ROM(really, who still uses ICS on S3 GT-I9300?)
Whats Diff/New:
- 6 Graphical Equalizer for frequencies: 15Hz, 62Hz, 250Hz, 1kHz, 4kHz, and 16kHz
- Lower and "real" Bass Boost effect
Compromises:
- No presets available. (You may try the settings I have in the screenshot)
- 3D Effect is not as cool as SRS but stereo range is wide on this mod. (the 3D effect only adds echo. The reason for that is to make sure that the bass boost is not overpowered - not sure if that is right description to it.)
Ever since I discovered the rich bass boost plus clear audio on this mod I made, I have been listening to music all day with my S3 plus an Audio-Technica ATH-SJ33 headset, I felt like I have the whole 5.1 Sound System in my head.
Hope you'll love the effects.
Added Android JB 4.3 version.
Fixed the Android JB 4.3 version flashable zip file.
Added support for Android KitKat 4.4 version.
High Quality = High Quality
And yes, you'll need a headset/earphones that can handle low frequencies like 5-10Hz with high tolerance as this can relatively damage "cheap" headsets.
WARNING: Do not expose your ears to very high volume with this mod for a very long time.
Or your ears will explode!
Can you make this for CM 10.1?
Using this on UltimaROM 12.0.1 and playing modern swedish death metal with low end frequencies at pretty high levels (not selfdistorted but close) is freaking enjoyable thru my Koss headphones. Good work, dude! You gived me an reason to get some extra boner from now on.

How does the sound differ on the CM ROM? Just bought this tablet and thinking about returning it.
Coming from a Galaxy Tab 7.7 the sound on this tablet is horrible. It's difficult to hear voices through other sounds, everything is "tinny" and mashed together,
which is a problem as I use the tablet mostly for Youtube and Twitch.

I know what you mean, audio is horrible with stock and is the primary reason i went 3rd party to confirm whether it was sw or hw in order to decide whether to return it; it's just that bad.
happy to report audio is great in mahdi which is cm based. but i think it can be safely confirmed this is some sort of audio layer LG junk.
It's definitely some LG custom audio processing that ruins the sound. It's better in the KitKat official update, tunnely sound is gone but still there's some compression going on that makes many things sound weird and boxy - also some kind of bass enhancement? I can confirm the sound is much more normal in Custom roms.
But now that I installed the stock KitKat update, I'm thinking of trying THIS workaround: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694246
I'll tell you how it goes. I hope not too bad.

You linked back to this same thread. What's the workaround you're trying out?
lol sorry. It's a mod called "PureAudio 2.0" whick you can flash from a custom recovery and there's a thread in Xda somewhere. I installed it, I noticed some improvent, I didn't install the stupid player the creator tries to shove down your throat (no offense if you're reading this! )

I use Pure Audio too. I like it. Though I use it with zplayer rather than the creators suggestion.

I realised today that PureAudio doesn't do much with LG's audio layer. The lousy stock compression is still there. You can hear what it does mostly when there is some reverb of echo in a sound, like the google now sound right after it registers a voice command/search. It explodes the reverb/echo volume to god. We must find a fix for this without having to install a whole new rom. Someone maybe can detach the CM11 audio thingies and make a flashable zip? Research must happen.
