Hey guys i'm wanting to use a utg cable for audio out. It works on the stock rom without any issues, but i just tried the CM10 ROM and a mouse would work, but i was not able to get any audio to my amp.
was wondering if anyone has found a rom that they knew would work instead of having to flash a bunch of different Roms myself.
I think this is related to Jelly Bean itself, it implements digital audio output over usb and disables the standard analog output over usb. Of course, this renders the audio over usb portion of existing accessories worthless (reminds me of a recent move by a different, rather rotten, company). I don't know for certain, but I suspect that currently all JB ROMs have this "feature".
hmm well that sucks. I just tried Hellfire's rom and it didnt work either. I wonder if i install the leaked Samsung Jelly Bean update if it will still work.. I just want to connect my Fiio E7 and be able to get audio

Hello, first post here. I just flashed to the latest version of AOKP and it's works wonderfully. However, I'm wondering if I'm missing something. I have my phone (previously standard GB and then TnZ Blend Rom) plugged into my car's sound system via micro-usb, i.e. the car simultaneously charges the phone and receives audio signal from it as well.
Now when I plug the phone in, sound only plays through speakerphone, not the car's. Has the feature been disabled? I notice that in the phone's system settings, 'Dock' is not listed anymore.
Is it available in Milestone 5?
TIA for your help!
I noticed this too, I think it's just something that hasn't been implemented yet, as there isn't a huge demand for car dock integration. People are more concerned with being able to use AOKP as a daily driver.
I tried AOKP after trying CM9 and the lack of this feature made be run back to CM9.
Thanks so much for your help guys. I'm moved on the CM9 as dewey recommended. But now I have camera issues.
CM9 car dock also no dice
I'm guessing my car interface uses the HDMI to play audio?
FYI, I installed a Grom Audio box with the connector specifically made for E4Gs and G4S2s. Do y'all have any experience with this?
Can't wait for proper car dock to be integrated into CM9, AOKP and the like. Developers, I know this is not a "priority" feature, but are you listening?
Does the ATT SGS3 have USB audio out for with external USB DAC/Amps? Because if it does, I'm giving up my Infuse, lol. I saw somewhere that the international version does, but I don't want to pay $600 for an unlocked version. Thanks.
I believe this is an added feature in Jelly Bean, so it should only be stable on the Galaxy Nexus at this point.

That would be awesome! Any idea when S3 is getting Jelly Bean?
I'm pretty sure I'm asking the same question as above but want to get some clarification in less technical-speak: I recently switched from AT&T iPhone 4 to AT&T S3 and ended up switching back to the iPhone. I kept the Android though because I'm hoping that Jelly Bean solves the one major issue that was a showstopper for me: subpar support for USB audio on the S3, and any Android as far as I'm aware. One of the main uses of a mobile device for me is the ability to do USB audio in the car with it, both with audio stored on the device and streaming. I drive a 2011 Lincoln MKX with the Ford/Lincoln Touch system in it, and the iPhone seems to work great over USB audio. The Android only works with audio stored on the device, so I have to switch over to bluetooth in order to do streaming (Spotify, Pandora, etc.), and then the track/artist/etc. info doesn't show onscreen.
Does anybody know if Jelly Bean will allow streaming audio over USB? I'd love to switch back to Android but that's holding me back.
Thanks much
certain usb dac's work with this phone there are several threads about this already
Understood, but do any of them work with Ford Sync?
I don't know if this helps, but under the settings - doc menu, there is an audio when docked option which should allow for Audio over USB. It at the very least allows analog sounds over USB with certain CAR docks.
No luck with that option. The main difference I see between Android and iPhone is the iPhone will interrupt whatever audio is playing whenever you switch apps to play something new. Android will only play the native apps. So, for example, I plug my Android into USB. It'll start playing whatever's stored on the device, and if I open say Pandora it'll look like Pandora's playing but the audio will still be of the stored audio. The iPhone will fade the stored audio and play Pandora instead. That's the function I'm really looking for that's missing from Android.
Is there any way to get audio out via usb on 4.4? I really don't want to have to drop back down to stockish. I have the iBolt dock in my car and use it all the time for music and nav, but since I went to Slick Ricks PA it doesn't work. I think it has something to do with Samsung's kernel but does anyone have a work around for it?
Nope, not that I have heard (on 4.3 or 4.4). USB dac support is why I'm on 4.1.2.
Hello, i have a question for you!
I bought the Samsung Galaxy Universal Multimedia Dock (www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-D200BEGSTA)
which is designed to work with most of the Galaxy family, including our Gnex. Now, everything works well but when you try to connect a 3.5mm Jack to the Line Out, speakers won't reproduce music. I mean, the gnex's speaker keeps working, while it should switch to the external output.
I've read somewhere that the feature that adds Music Stream via USB (which should be named DAC or something like this) has been added since Jelly Bean. But on my stock 4.3 Gnex it is still not working.
Now my question is: is there a ROM or a Kernel that makes our Gnex able to reproduce audio with the Line Out while on dock?
(also, when you go to settings->sound->dock, audio is grayed out and can't access.)
Carbon Rom
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
is it included in the rom or it's a part of his kernel?
It's possible I'm crazy but I've just installed the latest version of CM10.2 on this device to get USB audio going and I have to say it just doesn't sound as good as the usb audio on my Galaxy Note 2 running stock firmware. Is this some kind of issue with Android's internal audio mixer that Samsung's firmware has managed to bypass? Has anybody noticed this?
