[Q] Boot into fastboot? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I maybe missing something simple entirely, but after a lot of goolging I haven't found any answers. I'm following the guide on unlocking the bootloader for my phone with fastboot: xperiagamer.com/Beginners-Guides/unlock-the-bootloader-ramge[dot]html (cant post links yet) How ever I am unable to get my phone to boot into fastboot mode. Removing the battery and holding down any one of the following keys, back, menu vol down, shows my phone as "S1Boot Download" in control panel. And fastboot.exe does not find the device at all.
How do i get my phone to boot to "S1Boot Fastboot"?
Is there a different button I'm supposed to be pressing?
Is there some setting I'm missing?
Is there something I need to install before hand?
Phone is xperia play SO-01D.

You're not supposed to remove the battery to get into fastboot... You just power off the phone then hold down the search button as you plug it into the PC, not letting go of search until the power button turns blue

I tried :
*holding the power until given option to turn off.
*holding down search button
*while still holding down search button, plugs in usb cable
-Sony Ericson Logo Appears
-Phone goes into recharge mode
-Power button is red.
I tried this with home button and vol up button. Same thing. I was removing the battery before each try to make sure that the phone was completely powered off.
I tried using the adb on the command line"
adb reboot fastboot
and my phone just booted up normally. If it's a NTT docomo phone then is it possible that fastboot has been disabled by the carrier?

No idea if it's disabled by carrier, but it doesn't sound good

Not sure if this applies but, with the R800X and R800AT, you must have an unlocked bootloader before you can boot into fastboot....
Then to enter Fastboot you must power off the phone, press and hold the 'search' button, and attach to computer USB port.

Try installing driver on flashtool maybe.

[Q] My Phone Charges, But Won't Turn On!

I just got a Sony XPeria Play from Ebay, and it doesnt turn on, ive charged it, but it doesnt vibrate or anything. But it does charge perfectly fine. Please could I have some tips? PC Companion won't help and I have taken the battery out and put it back in countless times.I also need some help with fast booting my phone
How can you tell it's charging?
Are you using USB to computer or USB to wall?
I can tell its charging because the screen goes to the charging icon, and I'm using usb to computer.
If you hold the search button while its off and conect the USB to your PC does the power button light turn blue? If so you can try flashing back to stock rom.
Or if you hold the back button and connect does it turn green?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Yeah it does turn blue, but the power button doesn't respond to me pressing it...
remove the usb and make sure everthing is off, now remove the lid of the phone and press the power button. Remember you have to leave it press a couple of seconds
I've got a feeling the power button is stuffed... It still won't do anything when I hold the power button
i would also think is the power button, cause if you hold the search button and plug the phone while it of and the led on the power button turns blue, and if you hold the back button instead and it goes green, i would say that the power button is definitively the problem
Ok..don't press the power button if you're trying to put it into flash or fastboot mode. It sounds like it's one of two things: 1. the button itself is not making contact OR part of the board is busted. Either way, if you have flashtool then hold back and plug it in the usb, flash the stock ftf and flashtool will boot your phone for you.
I hope its the former! Also when I turn on flashtool, it says I need drivers, where do I get them from? Sorry for my nooby questions.
EDIT: Found the driver installation file, now I just need a stock ftf

It's ok mate don't worry, it's not being nooby
Here is the link for those drivers:
https://rapidshare.com/files/1146432065/Flashtool-drivers.exe
Install it fully, so once you open it click next and tick all the boxes. I know some are useless but just incase select all. Thats what I did It will take a bit of time I know and messages keep poping up and just go along with and it will eventually finnish. I had this problem too.
You can find this driver installation file in the directory of flashtool aswell.
It should be in -> C:\Flashtool\drivers or something like that.
Good luck
Ok so I need a stock ftf file...

Mybe u should jst try reboot using command prompt 1st. Jst to be sure that is related to the power button or not. Install all driver. Mke sure the phne is off, hold the search button n connect to the pc n see light turn blue. After that open command prompt n type "fastboot reboot". If it reboot then u'll know its the power button related.
Thanks vokal1992
Do this:
1.- Open flashtool
2.- Hold the search button on your phone
3.- Connect usb cable while holding the search button
4.- In flash tool press the lightning icon
5.- Select fastboot mode
6.- Select Reboot in system
7.- Enojoy
Hmm, now I'm thinking it's a broken battery, because it gives up on me as soon as I unplug...

Unplug it after it reboots
It reboots into the charging thing and when I unplug it, it dies.
in flash tool, does it say connected in fastboot mode?
U need to enable the usb debugging to be able to reboot using flashtool. Mybe the easiest way is to flash another stock .ftf.
Thanks vokal1992
well, if you need to flash ftf heres a list of them:

[Q] Can no longer get to bootloader

Hi,
Fairly new to android scene. I recently rooted and unlocked the bootloader. I'm now trying to get CWM ... but I can no longer get to the bootloader so I can enter fastboot mode. I hold down the power and the down vol key but nothing happens, after a while it just restarts the phone.
Edit: I got into bootloader by holding down vol down and power for about 5 seconds then let go of the power button and then tap the power button a few times.
Did you disable fastboot? If not it's under settings -> power.
Then try again, hold both buttons down until it appears.
I disabled fastboot. Sorry forgot to mention that in the first post. Right now I'm trying to set up ADB and see if I can do it from there, but I'm having problems doing that too.

Use the Q&A section, we have it for a reason. But to answer your question, you hold the lower volume button down.
Sorry if I posted in a wrong place but when I press power + volume down key the phone boots normally.
Should USB debugging mode be connected?
i dont know if it should be on...but it would not hurt to try.
also. For flashmode,
turn device off--->insert micro usb into phone while the regular usb is not in computer----> before inserting normal usb, hold the volume down button and then insert
Thank you!
I will try and post it.

Need Help with ADB [Volum Up/Down + Power button BROKEN]

My ADB is On in settings and I can use ADB normal. But when my Phone is off I can't turn it on anymore the only way would be with ADB command: ADB reboot devices!
Power button + Volume UP/DOWN isn't working anymore...
The thing is, when connecting my Phone to my PC after it gets off it will show the charging animation. And when my phone reached 100% it stays in the animation and doesn't boot up. ADB isnt working in that state.
How can I boot my phone?? Pls I hope someone can help me PLS PLS
You must try conclude pins on motherboard for button volume up when you connecting USB cable, after that fastboot was started and you can type fastboot reboot command on pc.

If you have power and volume-down buttons functioning, boot the phone with the power button and when the bootloader unlocked warning comes up, press the volume-down button and you will get the options for restart, fastboot, recovery etc. Simply choose what you want with the volume-down button and confirm with the power button.

Question Why wont my S22 go into Download mode or recovery mode?

So I have spent hours now looking around for an answer the phone is find my phone locked and I can't remember my pin code. I have done all the tricks with the combination keys.
The usual way to get into Recovery mode is Hold V+ and power until the phone vibrates and you should be in recovery mode release the keys. (Doesn't work)
Iv read that you should have the USB cable connected from pc/laptop while you do the same holding V+ and power button... (doesn't work ether)
and download mode should be very easy just hold V+ and V- plug USB cable from pc/laptop and you should get into download mode by pressing V+. Will only show charging Icon and that's its.
So is it possible to turn off this modes from the manufactor? Or is this a completely new security future? How can you use odin? How can you wipe the cache? If you end up having some issues.
Im going nuts....
No way to get into fastboot ether. So if anyone know why this is happening to me or got any solution I would appreciate it.
Plug in your cable with the phone turned on. Hit Power Off and wait for the phone to fully turn off. The charging logo will show up so let the animation do its thing. After maybe 20 seconds, press Volume up + Power and keep them pressed until you boot to recovery. If the command wasn't recorded in the first place and the phone is still off after more than 15 seconds, let go of the buttons and press them again and keep them pressed until it boots in Recovery

It will not work. How the hell should I be able to cle3ar cache if I got a boot loop ??? They can't just turn off recovery mode mand download mode??? This is so strange even paying for a frp reset but not even he does know what wrong??? Can they turn off fastboot, recovery mode and Download mode on this new phones? Is it because its locked with find my phone? 1 week researching now. It will only vibrate. And my PC cant find my phone anymore worked fine 30min ago nothing has changed... So annoying never seen this happened before every combination with buttons to get in any mode doesn't work only vibrates and go to pin lock screen...
Take it to a Samsung Experience center at best buy. Or send it into Samsung for repair.
download mode:
Turn off phone
plug cable in pc but not in phone
pres "volume +" and "volume -" in the same time
plug cable in phone
recovery mode:
plug cable in pc and s22

wait until see recovery mode

thats a solid advice assuming his bootloader/recovery/download mode is fully functional then this advice works, in his case and in mine too it does not work and trying to get to the root of the problem is the key. In my case recovery mode gives error on screen so it may have to do with the way firmware is installed as these modes are not accessible.
have you sorted it out? Its nearly a year onwards =)

This, at index 2:48 minutes.
It needs to be connected to the PC. Another screwy quirk Samsung added recently. Your button timing/sequence matters as well.
On my N10+'s you can go into recovery directly with a restart if you do it right. Otherwise they will puke on you.
