i flashed the CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0-GT-S5660-GalaxyICS-KANG-beta5, everything seemed to work fine, then i noticed that i wasn't getting any service at all. i then tried cyanogen 7.2 and same story. 7.2 is letting me make 911 calls unlike the ics rom.
can anyone help me pin the problem down and fix it? please and many thanks
i'm now in an endless boot cycle...
is there a guide to just to back to stock?
Flash stock rom via Odin if u want
@wiwid_colgate
Galaxy Gio S5660
#GalaxyICS
it was a supposed stock oden flash that caused me the never ending boot cycle
Odin does not reformat the /data and /cache partitions. Which would cause bootloops on a stock kernel that doesn't know how to handle ext4.
Use an RFS compatible recovery. Otherwise dd back empty RFS partitions back into place.
i had some problems with setting other launcher than adw on default. next time i'd restart the phone it got stucked at samsung logo. So i didn't set my favorite launcher on default and problems were solved. maybe it'll help.
For me the same prob. no service with CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0-GT-S5660-GalaxyICS-KANG-beta5 and cyanogen 7.2.
After that i flash with "S5660XXKTI - SER" (One Package-Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread stock)with odin and it runs like a train....(not like the dutch trains)
Do a full whipe before and after flashing.

lol. that sentence has to be explained for people outside of the netherlands...
our train service is well known because of not driving trains when it freezes, a bit. like -10 degrees and ''wissels'' the things that make sure a train can move from railroad to another railroad, something like this..
we know much about water and dikes, but not about trainrail.
lol

You can try another stock firmware go back to 2.2.1 Froyo or 2.3.3. Gingerbread.
And don't forget to select Wipe data/factory reset before and after flashing.
Check if everything is working,if so than flash 3.3.6.
More i really don't no.
Maybe it has to do something about the "radio" you can found out by search here on xda.

I can't get 4g anymore (i can only get E)...i tried everything, flashed modem and kernel... i lost my IMEI and i was able to get it back, but it didn't help...and finally i unroot my phone, but stil cant get my 4g back.
anyone now how to fix this ?
what i was running before unroot:
Rom: high on android rom ( i used to run CM10, but i needed touchhwiz to get my IMEI back)
modem: I747UCLH1
kernel: 3.0.8-704434-userse.infra ( high on android rom's stock kernel)
IMEI: same numbers in the back of my phone ( i checked like 4 time)
When did i lost my 4g?
actually i dont know, cuz 3 weeks ago i was running out of date ( cuz i was downloading rom with data [ u should never do this]) so i decided to turn off my data...
.other thing u should know : I remember i flashed a new version of ktkernel (running codename 3.6.0), but for some reason it didn't work on my phone. after i flashed it my phone will not turn on, i tried a couple of time flashing this kernel. It didnt work in the end . so i decided flashed back to the old version of ktkernel, and my phone mas able to turn back on... later on in the week, i saw milestone and i decided to give it a try, but the rom has a battery drain issue so after 1 and haft day, i decided to run CM10.. and today i got data again so i turn on my data,, and i couldn't get 4g... and this is my story.. i do apologize for my poor english, if u dont get a part of my story plis say it , and will try to explain it

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANk YOU!!!!!!!!! i got it back
My wife and i got our GNex phones at the same time in April through the Amazon wireless store. Both of our phones had to be repalced by amazon within the 30 day window for 4g/3g/1x signal drop issue. 4g radio would just totally crap out, then would wipe out the 3g and then i would have a complete signal loss. Everything was fine after we got the replacement phones. My wifes phone is totally stock and has had zero issues. Mine is rooted running AOKP toro IMM761, Android 4.04. 4 days ago it started having the rampant 4g signal crash issue again. I've turned off the 4g radio for now, but according to NoSignalAlert, with just the 3g radio on i've had complete signal loss 7 times today. I'm in the same area as usual, my house and my office where i normally have 2+ bars of 4g. I'm thinking the radio has gone bad in this phone, like it did in both of our previous GNex phones, it just took this one 6 months to die. Now i have to deal with Verizon Wireless to get a replacement. They are wanting to make sure i'm on the most current build, baseband etc. Here are my questions.
1 - What is the most current stock ROM, radio, build etc. that i an put back on my phone to both a)make sure that a rooted app/baseband etc. is not all of a sudden causing this issue and b) i can talk to VZW and they won't know i've rooted the phone.
2 - Once i return the phone to a stock ROM, i assume that I will have to do an OTA to satisfy the VZW tech. If the phone does not need to be replaced, i.e. the OTA fixes it, will i still be able to root back to an AOKP ROM?
3 - Is there some other update i should try before going the "unrooted" route and trying to talk with Verizon?
Thanks for your help.
Chris

Here are the VZW radios for the Gnex. Personally I would try flashing the new one [4.1.1 (JRO03O)] with a JB ROM. I was on AOKP for pretty much the entire life of my Gnex, 8 months, and never tried CM10. Flashed CM and besides the Nav bar, which I like better in AOKP, I have seen substantial improvements in performance, stability, and even better battery life. If you are determined to stay with AOKP I would still update to the JB version and try those "new" radios.
I started having the same problem a couple days ago when flashing a ROM went bad so I had to restore to an old (4+ mo. old) backup. From there I flashed factoryrom jb and then flashed the new radios today Cuz I just noticed the lack of signal. Still no bars anywhere. Any other thoughts? Do you think flashing a CM would fix it? If so, why?

What is selected in settings-more-mobile network-network mode?
data enabled is checked, and network mode is LTE/CDMA
I was gonna try to find a fix today and if i can't find one, flash to complete stock, reroot/mod etc.

Well, your settings are good to go. Did you check the md5 sum of the radio file after you downloaded it? If you have root explorer hold down on the .zip file and choose properties to check the sum and make sure it matches.
hahaha i guess that's what I get for trying to download a radio on crappy mall WiFi... the MD5 was bad :-/ works good now! thanks!

Hmm, it did this "need to restart SIM to work properly" crap, restarted and stopped working. Any thoughts? I'm installing franco kernel to see if that helps
Welp I ended up just flashing the factory image hahaha, will reinstall ROM and see how it goes. Everything seems to be working fine right now though
Glad it was something simple like that to get you back up and running.:good::highfive:

I d/l the 4.1.1 radio and flashed it in clockwork, and though the flash said it completed successfully, i don't see a way to check the radio version. I don't see 4.1.1 JR03O listed anywhere in the About Phone information...Where should i be looking?
Further, my prboblem seems to have further degaded ...With the 4g radio on, i get random total shut down of the phone, as opposed to simple radio crashes. Just goes to off with black screen. I'm up to try anything. I assume i can easily locate one of these JB ROM's in the dev section?

The baseband i think. Mine is I515.09 V.FF02 / I515.FG02.
I'm not all that knowledgable about the radios I just know my reception/data was poor on JB ROM with ICS radios. When I flashed the JB radio, my issues were fixed. I believe the ROM and radio versions should match, so if you flash JB radio I would flash JB ROM. All the info should be in the thread that is linked.

I am such an idiot, this whole time you've been talking about JB ROMs i assumed you meant some particular brand of ROM, like AOKP or Myn etc... It didn't dawn on me until i saw JB next to ICS that you meant Jelly Bean ROM.
Ok i'm running an AOKP Jelly Bean ROM with Android 4.1.2
baseband is the same as yours
Build is aokp_toro-userdebug 4.1.2 JZo54K
The radio problem seems to be resolved. Thanks for the point in the right direction!
oops, accidentally wiped my sd card when i was restoring back to factory... TOTAL back to factory hahaha.... which isn't so bad i guess... after a year it's about time I guess
I seem to lose signal when leaving wifi though, have to either airplane mode or reboot. Because I had my phone so long, I don't know if there was connection or dust issues, so I did the classic NES/SNES/Sega Gen trick, took the sim card out, blew in there and all that. Seems to still be going ok.
Fyi.. i a simple restart doesnt disconnect u from the towers.. u need to turn off, pull battery, pull sim, and wait for 10 20 sec. That will disconnect u fully..

Hi everyone. I received my very first Android phone a couple of days ago, a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. I did some research on the Android OS (my phone came with Gingerbread) and I found out about Cyanogenmod. So today, I installed C11 (found it right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568105) after a lot of sweat and blood... And I got it to run nicely, but I noticed I can't get my network to work. The phone was previously unlocked (I bought it used), and when I first tried my SIM on it, it worked.
When I first had to install CWM in order to be able to install the ROM, I succeeded in rooting it, and I noticed that the phone was still rooted after flashing it (though I don't know if that came along with C11). But anyway, I can't get my network to work; I removed the battery and the SIM a couple of times, but it didn't work. Now I don't know what to do. Could anyone please give me a hand on this? I know nothing about Android. Thanks in advance.
CM11 requires JB (4.1.2) - Sound like you flashed CM11 onto GB (2.3.6)
This can't work.
The thing is that I was trying to install an AOSP ROM (found in these forums as well) before trying with C11, and I wiped the data, formatted the system... So the phone was left without an OS. I didn't just "update" the OS, if you know what I mean. And C11 is working fine except for the mobile network.
EDIT: If I install a clean JB 4.1.2. and then restore to my current CM11, do you think that could solve the network issue?
Again: You need JB! With JB there are also other partitions which are needed to be new (on JB)
And Yes - Data restoring could work - But not recommended.... I would do an clean new install...
Please do not start an discussion... again: You needed JB.. (just to be sure)
Uhm, I never intended to start a discussion, I was trying to explain what I did. Thank you for replying anyway. I'll let you know if I get the network to work.
Sorry - I don't what to sound outrageous... But those questions were asked to many times... Here on XDA ACE 2 section...
Hi all, I have a note 2 shg-i317 that was originally on Bell in Canada. It was unlocked and the aws mod done to it, I use freedom mobile, aka T-mobile in the states.
I was running a Rom for the past 3 years Slimfast 4.4 and liked it. I had tried Nugat on another phone, thought I would try the [ROM][7.1.2][OFFICIAL] LineageOS for N7105
I did the upgrade, broke the root, could not get a few things working, so I decided to restore the Slimfast backup I had just made (complete including modem etc) and everything works except the GPS.
GPS for me is huge, I use it a lot. I cannot lock on to 1 satellite now. Before i was able to lock onto a minimum of 16 in about 30-45 seconds, if outside.
I really dont care if I can get to 7.1 at the moment. I need my GPS back - any troublshooting for getting GPS to work on this phone?
James
I would try to flash the original stock for your phone and country from sammobile. com
Gps should work normaly then. If not your hardware is broken. If it works you can always flash your data back from your Slimfast rom.

Crap, I am posting here, because I did it again. Again not sure how. I tried to run Reserection, and I guess that messed up the GPS.
To put the original stock rom on.. I have to do that through ODIN? I dont remember how I fixed this last year.. Sorry.
Hope somone can help I need the GPS.
James
ps. Used odin 3.09 to flash the original rom... still no GPS
You flashed the latest 4.4.2 room?

The Rom that I flashed to try and restore the GPS was I317MVLUDNF1_I317MOYADNF1_BMC (mine was an originally BELL phone)
But that did not repair the GPS from me flashing resurection.. I THINK did it. I flashed an android 6 and an android 7 rom. (Mokee) but tried to go back to my Slimfast.. and the GPS was now broken.
Basically what I did a year ago.. somehow I fixed it then.. but cannot remember at all how I did it.
James
The note 2 sold by Rogers, Bell, and Telus are exactly the same model and stock roms from these carriers can be cross flashed.
Try flashing the stock ROM twice in Odin with a factory reset in between each flash.

Do you mean boot up the rom.. run the reset in the rom? or flash.. - load TWRP back in.. WIPE.. then FLASH again with odin?
Thanks for helping btw.
James
I have backups (complete all partitions) of my rom.. Slimfast 4.4 from 2-3 days ago.. when I tried this. SO.. if I can get the Factory rom to restore the GPS.. how can I restore the backup.. I saw somewhere that the EFS partition could be left out and that might help? dont restore the modem? how??
James
I meant flash with Odin, boot into stock recovery, factory reset, flash again with Odin, boot into stock recovery, factory reset, and boot into the stock ROM.
Nope, still no GPS lock.. I have the flashing circle (always had) and it will not lock.. I read about where people go into a service mode and rebuild the NV? .. I assume this is something that Mokee or Reserection did.. not sure how.
Any other ideas?
James
what about using Odin or TWRP to put different modems in? does the modem effect the GPS?
tried this.. does not seem to. grrrrr wish I knew how I fixed this.
James
I assume there are no loose wires. Does it get a lock when using wifi? Not sure what else to suggest.
Not sure about rebuilding NV.
No.. I broke it with playing with custom roms.. Liniage was last year.. I did not try that this year.. but tried both android 6 reserection and android 7 Mokee.. and I am pretty sure they messed it up.. I am also pretty sure there was something I did .. easy like load an old STOCK rom and it fixed it.. I was then able to put my slimfast 4.4 back over it and it was fine. Unfortunatly .. not enough people still using this device.. I will have to have patience I guess.
James
So I have tried differenct stock roms, but I think the issue is ODIN will not restore code from a rom image that is HARDWARE based. I wanted to use Samsung smartswitch but they disabled the part of it that allowed you to factory reset the phone, this seemed to work for several people. Many have also reported entering a code and going into a service mode.. there you can do to a menu that will rebuild hardware modules back to default. But I have not been able to get into that mode because it seems to be a touchwiz only option, and I cannot find a factory rom that is touchwiz based for this model.
What needs to be done is a true FACTORY ROM image.. that would revert all software and hardware back to original, but I cannot seem to find that anywhere.
James
The only factory roms that I know of come from places like sammobile.com and they are all based on TouchWiz which is Samsung's launcher.
So guess what? put Ressurection back on.. and the GPS is back.
I cannot get it to work in any KitKat based rom.. but now anything Marshmellow up.. works.. HMMMMMM
James
