V6 Supercharger missing files - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

When I'm running the script, one error catches my attention
/sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/adj: No such file or directory
I checked and it's true, the adj file is not there. How do I recreate it? And what do I put in it? How did it get deleted?

Anyone?

Same problem here... what changed? What version ROM are you running, JBNEX? I'm on CM10 10/21/2012 , just wanting to see if it is apparent in the newer versions of CM10 only. If so, I might go back a few.

I'm on XenonHD, its a kernel problem. You have to flash a kernel that supports adj, like Franck and it will work

Hint: AOSP 4.1.1 source and Toro not showing as a target under 'lunch'

In case anyone is having trouble finding toro as a device target when trying to build from the list of targets from the 'lunch' command... Toro didn't show up in the list but I was able to manually specify it rather than selecting a numeric option.
Devs probably know that works, but amateurs like myself might benefit from that tidbit. Jellybean seems to be building OK for me now.
EDIT: I was asked what I did, more specifically, so I'll put that here in op:
Rather than enter a numeric choice, I entered 'full_toro-userdebug'. Apparently this was a valid response and the build proceeded.
Mind explaining how you manually selected it?

It's not as 'polished'. There are no gapps, the dictionary is not complete (need a version from a factory image/rom), there are extra keyboards (Japanese?), maybe a couple other oddities as compared to a stock ROM. It will certainly be more capable that porting a gsm rom to toro, that's for sure .

You edit the source files. The goodies you want are in the res folder of most applications. /packages/apps in the source code. Here's my question, when I boot it gets to the Google screen and then a black screen. I suspect this here. When I start the build I see this:
Code:
find: 'src': No such file or directory.
PRODUCT_COPY_FILES device/generic/goldfish/data/etc/apns-conf.xml:system/etc/apns-conf.xml ignored.
... Many more of these Product copy ignored things...
And then it finishes compiling. What's up here, I'm pretty sure it's missing drivers and stuff!

Did you install the binaries for toro? There is also a script that will pull them from your phone (so a stock rom is best), which may be better because Google can't give you everything you need for a functional rom (GPS for example). I ended up copying those files from a stock image to my compiled rom.
i got my binaries from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers#torojro03c

For future reference, what he's referring to is the extract-files.sh script included in the CM source. If you cannot find the proprietary binaries for a certain device you wanna build for, plug in the phone via usb, cd to the directory with the script and execute the command.

I also got version 4.0.9.99.999.9999.99999 when I synced to the master branch. Thanks for mentioning the workaround to sync with 4.1.1_r1 .
Did you figure out if it's a problem to sync 4.1.1 into a directory that's already synced with master (4.0.9.99...)?
--------------------------------
Update: I think I can answer this question based on JBQ's response:
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/android-building/rtH5ZbJC7qU/-N1lr9MqexYJ
"You can also switch in place: just run "repo init -b <new_manifest_branch>; repo sync" in your existing client."
Sounds like syncing to a new branch in the same working directory should work just fine.

[Q] Difference Between Toro/Maguro Roms

Hello,
I am learning about rom development, and want some information about porting a rom from one version of the Nexus to another. There are a couple roms that are on the GSM Nexus that I would like to see on the Verizon Nexus. Where can I find documentation on what the differences are between the same rom running on both versions of the phone? Is this just the binaries found on the Google Developer page, or is there more that would be required for porting from maguro to toro?
There's more to it. There's some lib files that might be needed in order for some stuff to work properly. But its real easy tho. Make sure the ROM u want to port is the same android version. So for example u want to port a 4.2.1 ROM make sure your base ROM is also a 4.2.1 like cm 10.1. Then u just copy some files from one ROM to another. So u go into your ROM that u want to port and u open it with 7zip go to system folder and copy app fonts framework and media folder and copy them to your base ROM. Then u go into the lib folder and copy libandroid_runtime.so and paste that into system lib folder of your base. Then it should work. That would be the basic way of doing it. As far as building from source I can't help u there lol. Good luck.

Ok, how do I know which lib files I need? Is there somewhere I can go that says this file does this, this file does that? For example if the camera doesnt work, or if sound doesnt work, how do I know which files are needed for those?
Also, why copy the app fonts framework and the media folder?

Because the framework folder has all the mods from the ROM. As far as camera u don't have to worry about that since they are both the same phone. The only lib file u need to change is the one I mentioned. That's the one that usually will give u a problem booting up. But that's what I was told u need to change and it works.

Is there a place that documents what all of these files do? I am trying to go a couple levels deeper than just "Do it because it works". I am hoping to find a place that will explain why, so I can track down bugs when they pop up.

I see. I'm not to that level yet. Try Google search or maybe even YouTube see if u find something. I do know u will need knowledge on how to use adb so u can do logcats when errors occur. Good luck man.

Alright, I got the rom to boot, but I am not getting any signal or wifi. What files do I need to get these working? I want specifics, not copy over all files in a single folder, because I dont want to lose any of the customization already in the rom.
I once ported a version of minco to Toro before there was an official version. I figured out which files to swap by comparing file by file two roms - one maguro one Toro. Any file that was divergent file size got swapped except systemui.apk and frameworkres.apk. I used two bugless beast roms as a base. It worked perfectly.

There are hardly any differences. I looked at it a lot when the jelly bean developer preview was released for gsm devices and I 'ported' it for toro. I had a list of the differences, but apparently lost it. I want to say that there are only 10-15 differences. The way I found out what the main differences were was by comparing the same build of CM for toro and maguro using Beyond Compare using a binary comparison. Some files may be different, but if you compare the bits directly...you can sometimes see it's only a build date/time and not a real difference.
edit 1 - To try to answer some of your questions, try libsec-ril_lte.so and libsecril-client.so (and the apn stuff listed below) for signal AND bcmdhd.cal and bcm4330.hcd for wifi. For camera, I think I remember fRom being needed. For GPS, you'll want sirfgps.conf, gps.omap4.so, gps.conf, and lib_gsd4t.so from toro.
edit 2 - Ahhh, I found a post where I listed the difference between maguro and toro that I found (it may not be all inclusive, but it should give you a good start!). These were from the CM roms, so toro factory images have a couple more things like MyVerizon.apk, VerizonSSO.apk, VZWBackupAssistant.apk, and libmotricity.so (needed for VerizonSSO.apk).
Code:
\system\app\BIP.apk
\system\app\RTN.apk
\system\app\VZWAPNLib.apk
\system\app\VZWAPNService.apk
\system\etc\gps.conf
\system\etc\permissions\android.hardware.telephony.cdma.xml
\system\etc\permissions\com.vzw.vzwapnlib.xml
\system\etc\permissions\com.vzw.hardware.lte.xml
\system\etc\permissions\com.vzw.hardware.ehrpd.xml
\system\etc\wifi\bcmdhd.cal
\system\etc\apns-conf.xml
\system\etc\NOTICE.html.gz
\system\lib\hw\gps.omap4.so
\system\lib\lib_gsd4t.so
\system\vendor\etc\sirfgps.conf
\system\vendor\firmware\bcm4330.hcd
\system\vendor\lib\libsec-ril_lte.so
Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for. I do have one more question. How is a power menu (hold power button to get reboot, recovery, hotboot, etc..) added to a rom?

You have to modify the android policy jar in framework from code. There is a modded jar in the apps and themes forum, or you could try and lift the file or of your favorite custom ROM, like cyanogenmod.

Glad to see you have some initiative! If you want the .smali edits for the advanced power menu, I have attached a .zip containing the comparison of the mod for my 4.2.1 stock AOSP rom. You need to add the 3 GlobalActions$11xx.smali files (in the attached .zip) to \smali\com\android\internal\policy\impl when you decompile your android.policy.jar with apktool. The 2 .pdf's show the smali edits to the 2 files that need modified. There are just a few lines added/changed. The changes for GlobalActions.smali are on page 19 of the .pdf. If you need a working apktool for 4.2.1, you can get one the I compiled using paulobrein's patch HERE.
I'm glad to see people helping a fellow who whats to turn user-to-dev.

Why not just run v20f? Once you put in the APN info it runs just fine with AT&T and with the additional tweeks it offers better battery life and a newer improved Adreno driver plus it offers the quickmemo you love its a win win for you.

You can extract them from the .zip of the rom you are using or a basic CM10 if you are using camera 4.1, if using 4.2 you are gonna have to find the complete package that comes with the lib, look for the thread called "android 4.1 to 4.2" and extract them from its package or extract them from a CM10.1 package (not sure that works tho, used the android 4.1 to 4.2 package in my case)
As for the files, you need to extract:
In the zip, they are in system/lib and are named libjni_filtershow_filters.so libjni_latinimegoogle.so libjni_mosaic.so and liblightcycle.so
Once you extracted the files, (backup or rename the old files 1st) copy them to your phone's system/lib using a root explorer (es or root explorer w.e you like to use) and make sure to change the files persmissions to r-r-rw and reboot your phone.

GPS not locking - Cyanogenmod 10.2

Is there a possible fix to let my sprint galaxy nexus running cyanogenmod 10.2 (installed clean) lock on GPS? I've let the searching for GPS signal blink for 30 minutes (while stationary) to no avail. I've flashed GPS fixes on other phones and models but i haven't come across one for the toroplus cm 10.2.
Any and all help is appreciated.
I'm using the Verizon 4.2.2 GPS+WiFi drivers. Works a treat.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I usually get a better and quicker lock to GPS on a fresh reboot. Not sure why it slows down after hours of not being rebooted.
Also I use GPS Status & Toolbox so I can see what's actually going on with the gps. There are also some settings that you can adjust for how often to download GPS assistance data, etc.
Sometimes still though it takes me 4 minutes to get a GPS lock. I don't recall if I've had this issue on cm11, but sometimes it never will lock to GPS until I reboot. I think that was an issue that I had with cm10.2.

It's a flashable zip. I'll post it for you today when I'm at a PC.

I have the GSM i9250 (maguro) version. Is it ok to flash that .zip?
Seems that lib_gsd4t.so, gps.omap4.so are the key files? -not sure about bcm4330.hcd - seems like wifi only.
Updated thread at CM forum: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/77119-no-gps-fix/
hmm. Seems like the gps firmware and files are different on maguro compared to toroplus so this fix isn't going to work for me.
I guess what I need to do is go into the stock ROM, somehow extract \system\lib\hw\gps.omap4.so ,
\system\lib\lib_gsd4t.so . \system\vendor\etc\sirfgps.conf & maybe \system\etc\gps.conf and copy them over into my ROM after a nandroid backup.
I will research now how to extract files from a stock ROM.
update: extracted some files... but not all... will try anyway... expecting to brick it to be honest... (attached)
ah... there's
/system/lib/hw/gps.goldfish.so
in the CM10.2 maguro image... what's that? It bears no relation to the stock ROM...
files from yakju-jwr66y-factory-09207065.tgz https://mega.co.nz/#!SQFT2A5B!RQ1aoFmlTugdq6iwukVigBoquyJa7pF7Xg2Zk5hJmdE

Now examining cm11 alpha http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531313 ...looks the same... getting annoying on this....
update:
It was probably privacy guard! disabled... will test later...
