Im running the 10-12-2012 toroplus nightly aokp. The phone has been running great but I tried hooking usb to my pc to transfer a photo and neither the computer or phone recognize a connection. I then plugged the stock usb back into the stock charger and the phone would not charge it was at 47% at this time. I tried other usb cables and nothing worked. I removed battery and reinserted and let the the phone boot into the charging icon and it said the battery was full. I restarted into the OS and the battery indicator showed 98% while the battery voltage was 3807. The battery is a stock extended battery. It still will not charge at all. Is this a battery or software issue?
also I am running leankernel v4.3.0 with fast charge enabled
Well I cleared cache/dalvik cache and reinstalled leankernel. It seems to be charging now at least. Very strange because It charged just fine last night on this nightly and then all of a sudden stopped. I did clear everything before installing the nightly yesterday

Running a rooted, unlocked, EVO 4g running CM 7.2.0 Rom
I've seen this same behavior twice. Once yesterday and once today.
Yesterday
Phone was plugged into usb port of laptop charging (around 50% at the time) was running Pandora and Wifi Tether (build into ROM). Phone crashes to off, no reboot attempt. Attempt to power phone back on yields no result (no lights, no screen ... nothing). Remove battery for 10-15 mins, insert and hook up to a AC charger and hit power button. Red light starts flashing, I wait for it to turn solid and try booting again. This time phone turns on and hangs at white HTC EVO splash screen. I then boot phone into custom recovery image, clear cache partition, and reboot. Phone boots ROM fully, batter reads 50% still and works fine until the next day.
Today
Phone was plugged in running Wifi tether, but not Pandora. Same behavior in crashing, removing battery, hooking up ac charger etc... this time however it didn't hang on the HTC EVO splash screen, and boots the ROM. However, the battery no reads 0% and wasn't charging. Removing the AC charger causes phone to shutdown. Reboot rom again, still read 0%, but let it sit for a few minutes and begins to charge. Appears to be charging fine and holds its own without the ac charger. **Note - battery was also around 50% or so when it crashed out
Questions:
Whats the root here? Bad battery? Bad rom? Thoughts on root cause would help if anyone has gone through this.
Thanks!
I'd say a combination of battery and ROM. Try flashing a new ROM and if it continues, try a new battery.
My phone had been having issues accepting the various modems I tried to install on a recent CM-10 upgrade. Prevbiously had used ROM Manager allmost exclusively until I heard that it was horrible and messes up a lot. Was having an omnipresent sd-ext issue. Also wiped battery stats as I had someweird charging issues where it the battery level when not turned on was not even close to the number tha appeared when it turned on.
I have been wiping every time I update etc as my battery had been acting weird. I had been having problems with the phone reading the [Sd-ext] like it wouldn't see it, but still could access it. So I reflashed to stock and rerooted, however the battery. I figured it was time.
well now the battery shows full, but if I untether from the usb link it wont start on its own. if i "jump start" it with USB power it will start but eventually die and flash to battery charge, or just die immediately when I remove the usb cable. I've been running cm-10 mods, but the issue seems to be worse now that I am rooted. I am thinking I'll reflash to stock and try installing CM 9 stable and see what happens, but if anyone knows a better plan I'm all ears.
FWIW when I am in download mode with the battery in it still works even when not plugged in.
Thanks in advance!
Alright, so i have an Xperia ZL, bought from the internet. Everything workes seamlessly, in meantime i installed CM 10.2 on the phone. It worked perfectly, until yesterday. It wouldn't charge and wouldn't connect to PC anymore. I mean, when turned one, with charging sounds activating, and connected it to the PC, it would constantly make the sound, the charging icon appearing and disappearing like once per second, and after some time, it wouldnt find the USB cable at all.. Same thing when charging. Tried different USB cables, same thing at PC, same thing at charging. I tried wiping cache, dalvik cahe, wiping data, nothing worked. The only way i can charge it, somehwat, is when i turn it off, and plug charger in. It would show me Free Xperia logo, and then a big battery. SOMETIMES it shows the battery and the charging light, sometimes the battery without the charging light. I noticed it only charges, obviously, with the charging light on.. It's really a pain, and i want to solve it. Any ideas?
Thanks for the attention.
Ok guys that's the weirdest thing i've ever seen:
I have a Gnex with 4.3 build JWR66Y, fully stock, unrooted, and i've never installed any non-PlayStore app on it. (lol)
Since today it worked flawlessly, and by flawlessly I mean flawlessly! Never a single problem or anomaly!
Today after noticing that my battery dropped to 17% i was going to connect it to the charger.
Result? It won't charge
I've done some tests and here is what I noticed:
-Phone ON, connected with his original charger = won't charge
-Phone OFF, connected with charger = will charge, but if turned ON, will stop charging
-Phone ON, connected to Pc = usb device not recognized - driver installation has failed, but will charge. (tried both MTP and PTP)
-Phone OFF, connected to Pc = will charge, but still "usb device not recognized"by Pc. If turned ON will keep charging.
Already tried to remove the battery.
Try clear cache and dalvik
Edit: i c ur not rooted, so try clearing cache under settings/storage/cache

Hi
I flashed lineage 14.1 OS over the manufacturers stock ROM about 3 weeks ago. The Lineage ROM had issues BUT the battery was still charging normally. (Worth noting that the battery was also charging perfectly fine on when the manufacturers Rom was still installed). Seeing as Lineage 14.1 had a host of other issues, I then flashed AOKP's version of Pie with GAPPS Micro. At first, the battery would charge until 53%. However after it drained to 0%, it has not charged properly since. (6 days or so).
A) Battery is about 6 months old, so relatively new
B) non-charge problem started with installation of AOKP version of Pie
C) I have used a couple of battery health apps, which reveal the following:-
c.1) Battery health is fine
c2) Voltage 3.5V (essentially 0% charge)
c3) amperage averaging around 30mA
c4) Battery Manager and other apps state that the battery is "connected but not able to charge"
D) I have tried deleting the batterystats.bin file, which had no affect
E) I have tried using recalibration apps off Google Play Store with no affect.
F) I have cleaned the USB port and tried different cables, also with no affect.
I'm going to try flash another OS shortly. Other than that my last idea is to purchase a new battery. HOWEVER just thought I'd ask if anyone has any other bright ideas as to what might have happened to a perfectly functional battery? Another thing worth mentioning is that the power button on this device doesn't 'click' anymore. So one cannot feel that the button has been pressed, you have to press harder to ensure that the device powers on. It was like that for a long time before this battery problem started but thought I'd mention it. Can a faulty power button be causing a massive power drain on the battery OR be stopping it from charging?
EDIT - when the phone is off and plugged in to the charger, the battery icon shows it as "charging". However if I leave it for a few hours and switch the phone on again, it still reflects as 0% charged and only switches on with the power cable attached. Also I cannot get into recovery mode, after shutting down, unless I leave the phone plugged in and "charging" for a while. It's like recovery mode needs at least some power from the battery.

Does anyone know of a battery app/ software that one can run in recovery mode OR prior to booting? I'm wondering if this battery problem is software related or hardware related.

Now, it appears, I cannot even boot into TWRP recovery. I suspect the non-charging battery is the problem.

You won't believe it!!! After trying every solution known to man, turns out that the battery just doesn't sit snugly in the phone, so it doesn't make good contact. ???*♂??
Charging now that I manually pushed it up against the contacts.
