Right now my clock (beautiful widgets) is stuck at 8:58, when it's actually 18:36. My agenda widget and calendar widgets won't update if I add tasks, and I can't refresh them. The clock in the taskbar at the top of the screen is correct.
The widgets get stuck like this once or twice a week, and a restart fixes it.
Anybody else had this issue, or knows what the cause may be?
not had this issue or read about anybody else experiencing this.
My gmail widget does this all the time. Keeps showing old unread messages which I actually have read. Apps is fine.
Clock has never got stuck though.
Btw do we have a fix yet for laggy scrolling on android widgets
do you often end all tasks in task manager? if yes ,that could be the problem

^^One possibility
I have had my Poweramp widget fail to do anything from time to time. The task manager must be ending the task required for it to run. Some apps have an option to stop task managers closing them.

I do, yes. Could that be doing me more harm than good? I'll lay off it for a while and see if the problem is less regular.
Disable the WinAmp widget and restart your device, don't kill the tasks for a while.
I think that's the best you can do for test.

I can reproduce this at will on my HOX. I've opened a case with HTC on it too. It *appears* that this is being caused by HTC's super-duper agressive task killing (it's a feature, not a bug), killing off sleeping processes that keeps widgets with live data updated. After a reboot, facebook widget legs me gleefully scroll through posts, beweather can be updated by clicking "update", and the power control widget will change the "light" under the button based on the state of that which the button drives, however after using the phone for awhile, loading/unloading apps and whatnot, the memory falls below the threshold and the in-built task killer goes to town and hangs up a good deal of apps and then the widgets are frozen until the next reboot. I know the interface isn't frozen because any widget with a shortcut (touch and run something) still works, and the facebook widget registers a scroll "touch" by the arrow highlighting, but the data never changes, so it has to be something behind the scenes that went away and shouldn't have.
If anyone has any other suggestions as to a cause, let me know, I'll happily pass on to HTC in my case with them.
Stuck widgets on CM9 for HOX

I got the exact same problem, but only on the CM9.1 (which according to the development thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706001 has been incorrectly tagged as Alpha 8 on the Cyanogenmod download site). The widgets are frozen, but are interactive - if I touch my frozen Beautiful Widget the weather page appears. If I touch the buttons on my frozen Apollo music player widget, it plays/pause/skips music tracks etc but the widget itself doesn't get updated. A restart of the launcher (Settings --> Launcher --> Homescreen, and then exit the Settings app by pressing back back back) fixes the issue... for a while, before the widgets eventually get stuck again. See screenshot (note actual time vs Beautiful Widgets time).
Searched the forums, the CM9 thread and on Google elsewhere but no one else seem to have the same issue. Very puzzling. One guy has a similar issue but it got solved when he switches off "Forced GPU rendering", which didn't work for me. Would appreciate any help!
Cheers,
Kelvin

had same prob a while ago, installed ROM Toolbox and under 'performance overview' clicked on auto memory manager/presets/...>mild<... ticked apply on boot and apply, rebooted and bingo no more freezing widgets.
it may be that simple for you (or maybe not) give it a shot why not?.. hehe

Thank you! It did help greatly in minimising the problem, but it hasn't stopped it totally. In the last 12 hours since implementing your suggestion, the widgets had frozen once, and I noticed it after I was streaming some videos. I'm guessing the video streaming triggered the "OMG we need more RAM, KILL THE WIDGETS!" response of the OS but other than that the widgets are ticking along happily.
Would be great if there's a more permanent solution to this, but I'm guessing this would require the CM developers looking into it.
Cheers! :good:
Ah. Well, after web browsing (which strangely causes the HTC One X to heat up more than I'd expect it to), the widgets are back to being stuck. I guess the ROM is not quite ready, but being a new user I can't feedback to the development thread on my experience with the ROM.
Perhaps I'll head back to a Sense-based ROM. (The Jellybean ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763240 is excellent, but MX Player on s/w decoding doesn't have audio, and Beautiful Widgets disappear upon reboot or USB connect...)
Cheers again for your help, beanbean50.
Have same issue with multiple widgets. Anyone close to finding a solution? Or do we have to wait for the next OTA update?

I'm using a Motorola Atrix 2(ICS) and have the same issue , it's not just task killer i guess , when you uninstal /freeze some system apps this can happen , and if you're using a custom launcher (nova prime to me) , just restart the launcher and they'll start working again , sometimes you have to restart the launcher twice , you can't do this if you're using a stock launcher obvious
After Jelly Bean update to get to your pictures you need to click Gallery then My Phone shortcut. Most of the times you need to click My Phone several times to get to the pictures. HTC? Why?
Is there a way to get to the pictures directly, like it used to work in ICS?

That's the only way unfortunately
perhaps use a widget?
I'm not using a Sense launcher but Apex.
I tried using some of the Gallery activities but that produced bugs when returning from viewing a picture.
It seems to me that there are a more places in Jelly Bean update where they require more clicks to get to something where previously it required one click.
Found a solution, it was in the Activities afterall.
Just got to add activities. Scroll to Gallery and add the second activity called:
com.htc.album.AlbumMain.ActivityMainExtLauncher
This will create a normal Gallery shortcut but it will point directly to phone pictures like on ICS.
How to get into "com.htc.album.AlbumMain.ActivityMainExtLauncher"?

I want to know how to get into "Activities" too ??
You need custom launcher such as Apex or Nova.
Long press home screen -> Shortcuts -> Activities and then find Gallery.
As we all know that the 4.2.2 update made our phone as fast as the 4.1.2. But it has a bug, at least for Maguro (not happening on my N7). Do you ever get a laggy scrolling on homesceen, when entering app drawer and scrolling in recent apps? I believe everyone has it. But only few people notice it. I have tried all 4.2.2 ROMs. AOSPA, AOKP, PAC, etc and all of them has this bug (I have done a clean flashing). And I have tried all launchers, Nova, Apex, Holo, Action Launcher, Stock, but the lag is still back!
The (systemUI) lag has to do with rendering (static) wallpapers. This can be solved by:
1. Setting a live wallpaper
2. Temporarily, by pressing the app switcher button, rotating the screen and pressing the back button
3. Disabling system autorotate
4. Making the launcher (instead of systemUI) handle the rendering of wallpapers. In Nova launcher, use the 'force scrolling' option, in Trebuchet (CM) use the 'wallpaper quick render' option
5.. Using an app to set static wallpapers as if it were a live wallpaper
Also, emptying cache for all user and system apps using Titanium Backup seems to affect the issue positively. Please note that this might result in some settings being set to stock (like the keyboard, snooze duration and some other minor things).
Well, this is only for temporarily solution for those of you that getting sick of this bug. Waiting for the fix from Google.
Thanks to Butter Smooth for summarizing
Tiny Kernel and Crossbreeder Mod = No lag for me.

AW: Solution for laggy homescreen and systemUI in 4.2.2 update
I've noticed the choppy transitions in 4.2.2. too and I'm glad I'm not the only one
Another finding is that changing the wallpaper makes the transitions smooth again. But the choppiness returns after a while. I'll try your tip tomorrow and report...

using xperia z live wallpaper with water ripple and it's free
I have notice this as well. Static wallpapers cause app drawer lag for me and when I use phase beam its lag free! Weird considering live wallpapers usually slow down the system..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
To me 4.2.2 seems the most stable version so far, it's very much consistent, and scrolling in the recent apps menu gets laggy after I scroll a certain amount, and ofc when removing the process it lags, but this was present in 4.2.1 as well, i would have to say that as far as performance say, it's much more consistent than previous versions,
Static wallpaper or live, i see no difference
Sent from my GNexus
im using latest pa (4.2.2) with apex launcher with a few widgets and have no lag whatsoever. i use a solid black color as backround.

There's actually a lot of truth to the live wallpaper trick. Back on the Photon forums, we would use this technique to smoothen out the UI on our ICS and JB releases since we did not have a proper kernel and drivers, thus terrible onscreen performance. But this fix has existed since ICS! And it works!
Regarding the live wallpaper being smooth. It might have something to do with scrolling wallpapers too. How is everyone's feelings on a static, non scrollable wallpaper? Or is that what we are talking about?
I've had the choppyness too.
I am now using plasma beam and will report back. I also am going to try it on my nexus 10.
I'm telling you guys, try out the combo I posted in post 2. It really removes lag.

i use it like that(single homescreen no scroll)and i noticed the same lagging issue after a while
but i think it has to do with how you set the wallpaper, when i used zedge or image2wallpaper to set them the issue stated on the OP appeared
but if i use the stock gallery to set them and the problem is mostly gone
something else ive noticed is that the status bar lag only happens when on the launcher screen, open any app and pull the SB and its smooth, go back to the homescreen and pull it,its choppy
EDIT
still happens even after using the stock gallery

Using plasma live wallpaper. So far so good.

I've noticed the same problem with 4.2.2 ever since it came out. I usually use Phase Beam so I never noticed it. Only when I switched to a static wallpaper (one of the stock ones) for a day did I notice that the transitions into and out of app drawer and scrolling through home screens gets choppy. I never did find a way to reproduce it reliably, but I do know that if you use it long enough it will start to happen.
Immediately fixes itself by setting to any Live Wallpaper as OP had suggested.
Problem only started to occur with 4.2.2. Never had it happen in 4.2.1 or 4.1.x.

Then try to swipe on lockscreen between widgets if you have some. You will notice that the lag is still there, but atleast its a better deal to have it on lockscreen then on homescreen.

I don't know man. I'm either lucky or just not as picky but I don't even notice lag there. I have a few screens of widgets on my lock screen too.
Set a static wallpaper, go back to home screen or lock your device. Then, swipe down the notification bar and notice how choppy it appears.
Now, go inside an application, like Calculator - swipe down the notification bar and notice how smooth it is.

Ok, I see what you're saying now. It was slightly smoother. Thats odd.
Widget Locker had been working flawlessly for me for several weeks, but all of a sudden I started having issues with it yesterday. I'm no longer able to add any widgets to my lock screen. I'm able to add custom sliders, applications and shortcuts. Whenever I try adding a widget nothing will happen for about 5 seconds and then the app will close and open itself up again. Can anyone suggest any possible fixes for this? I have already tried uninstalling the applications and re installing it as well as shutting down my phone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Only other thing I can think of is resetting your phone. Since you've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling widget locker. Are you using a third party launcher?
Just wanted to add that you aren't alone. I just installed Widgetlocker tonight and I have never been able to add a widget. I get the exact same behavior you describe. I accidentally deleted the LOCK widget and I am unable to add it back. I'm stock rooted.

Most probably a launcher or widget problem
Probably one of two possible scenarios:
1) Your widgets are not compatible with your launcher. (what launcher are you running? what widgets are you trying to load?)
2) You moved the .apks of your widgets to External SD storage and now they won't load. Widgets should be stored on internal storage because they sometimes try to load before the SD card is mounted.

Another possibility is widget data corruption, try clearing the data for the affected widgets.
