Free Dropbox Space - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got the note 2. Previously I had the galaxy s3 which came with free 48gb of dropbox space. Now after purchasing the note 2 im supposed to get an additional 48gb. But im wondering if this is applicable on the same account (so it becomes 96gb) or one bonus per dropbox account. Thanks.

I think u will get it as it is against the device not the account

No,you don't get free space for the same account twice. Cause both phones using the same application name . I also switched from s 3 and didn't get free space twice For the Second time.

yes but cant upload more than 100mb for each file in box
Great. I wasn't aware of that. I only use both drop box and box.com for work and photos so 100mb is plenty.

Both drop box and CX have apps available in the play store. Drop box gives you 2 GB free storage but CX gives you 10 GB. MediaFire gives you 50 GB but has no android app. (Apparently a MediaFire app is under development). The one thing to say about all of them is that upload/download speeds are less than desirable......

What if one day you will no longer use a Samsung phone? SD is a must, cloud storage (any) is just an available options that eventually forces you to (extensively) use data and to give away you privacy - of course there will be others who will swear by it and unfortunately Samsung is the only manufacturer still making phones with external SD support. Anyway, consider these 2 arguments and make your educated choice.
I keep everything on an SD card AND backed up to Dropbox. In the past I've lost an SD card when it fell out of my hand and into a friends front porch with no possible way to retrieve it. I would have lost everything if I didn't have my Dropbox backup.
Box is running a 50gb free for life deal. doesn't auto sync. Just download foldersync and you are set.

Available Space on New Note 2

Hi,
My New N7100 shows the Total Space as 10.36GB and Available space is 9.92GB !! From what i've read before I should have around 10.36GB as available space, is my phone normal???
Go to storage and see what is using space.
Sent From Samsung's Galaxy Note II Using Internet
I guess you didn't get my question correctly....I did that already...i'm talking about the actual phone space out of the box
Im having 10.36 as Total and 10.36 as available.
That should be the correct specs on your phone.
Look again if there are some folders or stuff eating up the ~1 gb. Dropbox or something.

Hmmmm.....i'll do that and report back, thanks.
Did you login with your Google play/Gmail account during the initial startup wizard? If you had previously installed apps from Google store it might automatically start installing them and that could be the reason you didn't get the total storage.

Probably a nandroid backup...
I don't know but maybe N7105T has a bit less space. It's a 200 mb difference.
Imao not a very major issue.

Or games data. My Note II came with some demo games. You can click on the miscaleanous line and see wich thing consume the space.
Demos would be marked as apps...
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
yes just tap the misc files line to see the files. my note 2 had 9.92 as the out of box storage. there will be little variance in the storage depending on the region it has been released in.
Here it is guys..
This is stock vodafone Australia rom. 7105 lte model without lte option, (voda aus:thumbdown: ) I haven't rooted yet. Thinking to flash new one.

Box .com 50gb Free

Did everyone get the free box .com account? If you download the app and sign up for an account through your phone you get 50gb free. Near as I can tell no strings attached. Worked for me rooted too. If you haven't, go do it.

I already had a Box account so when I logged in via phone, I was granted the 50GB upgrade.
I believe they increase the upload size to 200MB per file. I think...not too sure but it has been great.

I think its now 250mb. Regardless, its up from the 100mb file size. And thank god, it would have been useless for me if they kept it that way.

Noob question

If you root and rom your phone will it get rid of the 9gig of bloat? Like if the rom takes up 3 gigs will it free up 6 gigs that Samsung stock takes up or just add to it and make it 12 gigs used?

Rooting has nothing to do with bloatware or bloat, before and after rooting the free space will basically remain the same.
Rooting never affected the free or used space of any android phones.
With the stock or rooted stock rom the free space will not change.
Also your math about free and used space just don't seem to compute.
But in any case I wish you the best of luck.
(you will need it).............
Thanks. I wasn't using exact math just random numbers to get a point across. I just know our phone comes with 8gigs of free space and the other 8 gigs are being used by Samsung. My question was if we rooted are we able to take back some of that space Samsung uses or does the rom just take away from the space allocated to use by Samsung
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
After you root use a program called titanium backup to freeze or uninstall bloat.
Or once rooted flash a bloat free Rom.
Yes, you get the space back

That's where you are wrong, our phones come with 16gb and the free space is almost 10GB before you add any apps or anything else in it.
As soon as you root the phone and flash a good custom rom the free space will go up at least 500MB
because when the devs create these custom roms they usually remove a lot of bloatware.
A good custom rom after being debloated and deoxedized and whatever else the devs do to it takes up approx 1.2GB or less, usually less.
Thats what i wanted to know thank you.
