MTK6573 Handphone Dilemma - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I desperately need help because i know that you all are my life saver. As it goes I'm having an unrooted chinese hand phone and there are no ways to root my phone other then to flash it. The dilemma is that i need to do a full backup before flashing but in order to do full backup i need to root it first but then i need to root it first before i can do a full backup. This is a dilemma sort like whether chicken or egg first. The problems is really annoying. BTW the phone download mode is not accessible through any combination of the phone button. Details are as follows:
Screen Size: 4.3 inch.
Model number: I9100
CPU: MTK6573
Android version: 4.0.9
Baseband version: I9100XXK13
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100
Build number: GT_I9100_01
Custom build version: 1341280728
ADB Devices: 0123456789ABCDEF
Are there any application that could do a FULL backup without rooting it first?
Does anyone knows where to download the said phone image file so that i could flash it without doing the full backup?
The last thing i could do is burying my phone in the soil and watered it everyday and hoping it to root out.
Thanks for your time in helping me out.

[Q] Galaxy S3 Unknown ROM

Hi everyone, new android user here! I'll try to make this as brief as possible:
Recently purchased a used Unlocked Galaxy S3.
Currently using Bell Carrier on it and it works fine.
I noticed that even after restoring SuperSU was installed.
Checked download mode -> odin installed with custom binary
Checked to see if the phone has root access -> it does not
I wanted to try and flash it with a official ROM to completely restore factory settings but I don't know what the original carrier is so I don't know what ROM to download. I called a couple carriers but they have no record of the IMEI.
I'm fairly new to android and my past two days of google searching hasn't accomplished anything relative to my problem (although I know a lot more about the rooting community!) so I thought I'd ask here.
Is there any way to know what's going on here?
Can I restore the phone to factory firmware/ROM/etc.?
Here is some phone information:
Model: SGH-I747M
Android Version: 4.1.1
Baseband: I747MVLDLK4
Kernel: 3.0.31-538866
Build Number: JRO03L.I747MVLDLK4
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Just go and download this program http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP
Go to Tools > Firmware Install and Initialization
It will ask you for your model number and Serial number. It will use those to determine what stock ROM is correct for your phone.
It will then flash you to stock, just as Odin would, including the stock recovery.

It definitely looks like you are on the stock Jelly Bean firmware from Samsung. I747M is the Canadian model (747 is ATT). Your build number also looks to be the stock 4.1.1 based on the DLK4 build number! Just as the last guy said, grab kies or use Odin to go back to complete stock if you are not happy with what you have now. If your phone is showing custom binary flashes and you want to get rid of that, give Triangle Away a try! Good luck. :good:

Thank you! That worked like a charm! The device is now in a "normal" state and the binaries are "official".

Thanks for the advice! I'm not too concerned about the flash count, that's only really important your warranty to to be valid, right? But I'll look into it, it may be worth it anyway.
Thanks again everyone!

[Q] Developer Handset Software build -unlocking?

Hi guys,
Got my hands of a dev handset with a 'user debug' software version.
As a result, the usual tools won't unlock my bootloader.
I've successfully rooted and even installed CWMR, but need to open up the bootloader so i can start flashing this badboy.
I attempted to use the FreeGee app (paid ver), and when it couldn't find my software version I took the chance to upload the image, but in the meantime, if thecubed doesn't get around to it,anyone got any hot advice on how I can unlcock?
Software details as follows:
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: Unknown
Kernel Version: 3.4.0
Build Number: geehrc_open_eu-userdebug 4.1.2 JZO54K E97508a. 1353925334 test-keys
Software Version: E97508a
Talk to shelnutt and upload the boot image on freegee thread. I'm sure he will help you
Sent from LG E975 pwd by CM 10.1
I'm updated freegee for you but would you mind sending me your /sdcard/freegee folder after unlocking? Just zip it up and link me. I'm curious to see if your lk is different or not.
Or better yet jsut to be safe dump the bootloader first before unlocking. Run this in an adb shell or terminal emulator
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot of=/sdcard/aboot-debug.img

[Q] Restoring Samsung galaxy Nexus to factory with no backup files

Hello,
My wife broke her iphone 4s so she bought this samsung galaxy nexus off of someone on facebook. The phone is working fine but there are just some little things that are kinda annoying. The phone doesn't have the factory text messaging app and it doesn't show up even after we did a factory reset. So we were kinda just dealing with that, but when we tried to do the verison backup assistance and it wasn't on the phone and we couldn't find it on the app store I called verizon and they said it was supposed to be in the factory software and there is no way to download it. So I asked what the phones info was supposed to be and this is what she said.
build number: JDQ39
Baseband version: I151.10 V.FK01 / I515.FK02
kernel version: 3.0.31-g9f818de
This is what the phone currently is
build number: KOT49E
Baseband version: I151.10 V.FK01 / I515.FK02
Kernel version: 3.0.72-ShinyROM-g7a04904 [email protected] #5
I just want to put it back to factory and from what I've read all I need to do is download the tool kit and it will restore it to factory software and unroot it?
Also since she had an iphone before she has had problems with people with iphones replying to her text messages. We already got on her iphone and shut the imessages off. is there anything else we are suppose to do?
Thank you in advance for all the help

Try the Nexus Root Toolkit. There is a flash stock and Unroot bitton that will do it for you.
As for the Iphone, I've heard that it can take up to a day for the messages to stop routing through iMessage. Has it been that long for you?

[Q] Need safe upgrade path from CleanROM 5.0.0

I have an unlocked AT&T Note II that I purchased from Swappa, so I did not do any of the modifications myself. I've been happy with the phone, it's stable, battery life is good and about the only thing that doesn't work is video out. Which is why I want to update the phone. I haven't played with Android in years and this is my main phone, so I need to proceed carefully.
I'm on Straight Talk, so I also need to make sure I keep my phone unlocked as well as rooted.
What would be the safest path to a newer ROM or rooted-stock firmware that has video out working, as well as the main phone functions, like AT&T LTE, stock camera, etc. ? Also, the Device status says "Modified", so I don't know how that affects any potential updates.
Current:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: I317UCAMH3
Kernel version: 3.0.31-1071214
Build number: CleanROM 5.0.0
ClockworkMod recovery installed, version 6, I think.
Edited: I finally got some useful hits by searching for MHL/HDMI/tv out but still digesting them...
You could install and run triangle away. After that, you could flash back to stock using Odin and stock AT&T firmware from Sammobile.com.

S6 Flashed With Edge, Can't Flash Any Firmware

Hello!
I've recently acquired an used Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920P, but in Download Mode it says G920R4) and I'm trying to go back to the stock firmware. That being said, I have no access to the original box, nor to the vendor.
The phone was initially rooted and I tried to unroot it so as to have OTA updates. Turns out it seems to have no S/N, and the one it does have in the Settings is seen as incorrect by Samsung Smart Switch.
ODIN fails to flash any G920P firmware in it. (Complete (Write) fail)
I have reasons to believe someone also tried to flash it with Edge's firmware, since I managed to access the menu for its side notifications. Is there any way to solve this? I'd need the phone to work in Vodafone's network, since it's the one I'm using...
The phone is working perfectly as it is, so if there's no going back, I can leave it like this. I'd just really like to have updates, and it's crucial for it to be kept unlocked.
I've not found an answer or solution for this yet.
