[Q] Factory reset safe to rooted xperia play??? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please help me i m noob to this i have rooted my xperia play via super one click root. and installed titanium backup and removed bloatware like "videos and music", "track ID" , and some games. I m on android 2.3.4 stock non unlocked bootloader untouched kernel ETC . want to ask if factory reset wont make my phone malfunctioning. Also unrooting via same software used to root and then factory reset will make it malfunction. please answer my both question cause i will prefer the first option .. I have read a lot over internet that rooting and factory reset ruins the phone . And have anyone tried this before.

Bhai factory reset means it'll wipe your data games etc. It'll not malfunction phone at all. And you can unroot via superone click

Dude m asking wheter the bloatware wont create any problem dat i hav removed , while doing factory reset.

As long as you didn't delete any important core apps, you should be fine to factory reset

No, bloatware will not cause any prob. But it should be bloatware only and not imp system app as said by jaklebott. If you got any prob. You can easily flash stock again via flashtool. So don't worry

Can u plz tell me wat are framework file. Name plz

Framework is framework.
In noob speak: Those are files that are needed to stay at where they are. Deleting can cause bootloop, or other negative probs.

Yes, OTAs will soft brick your phone if you've removed system apps. Either freeze them rather than deleting them, then unfreeze before you update, or you can use FlashTool to update

Just uninstall anything you want (personally I've got rid of loads) then when the update comes, flash one of the ft files ( u can get them on here) and update... then wait for root lol dunno if we will have it for ics?

If i get titanium backup, i can backup all system apps, delete them then when needed just restore them? Will that work?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Yep. Just don't format your memory card... you could even backup the titanium back up folder to your PC (just to be sure) its on your SD card

Oh cool, so if i reinstall eg facebook through titanium, it wil automatically become a system app?

As far as i know, if you remove system apps and try to OTA, it will not soft brick your phone, but the update will fail, i think it's only devices with officialy unlocked bootloaders that get bricked (I may be wrong though so don't take my word for it).
I think you can update with SEUS after removing System apps though. And like that other chap says, you can just take a backup of the apps you remove, and push them back to system before you OTA.

Hello people, I have read this thread and I also have r800i with 2.3.4, just brought recently and am new to rooting. I would like to root and was just wondering is there a step by step guide how to do this using super one click and a link for where to download super one click, or the other method mentioned? Kernel is 2.6.32.9 perf build is 4.0.2.A.0.42 if thats any good to know. Thank you in advance.
Enable USB debugging (settings - application- development and then tick USB debugging box), then press home, plug in to USB to pc, and click "root" on the super one click... wait a min and done!! Hope I helped .
If you need help feel free to pm

Can you get into recovery? If so wipe your caches and re flash your Rom. That should replace any missing files without you losing anything you want. If you want to use a different Rom then you have to full wipe otherwise you'll have compatibility issues.
Edit: you said you were on the n7100 though so make sure you flash the n7100 Rom
i were do as you say, but,it change nothing with my phone,i think that it may be the problem with hardware, some more way to repair my phone?

Factory reset on arc

What type of factory reset do I apply on my rooted Xperia arc i.e, is it through the system settings or cwm? And what are the consequences of doing so?

You will wipe all your data. Every app, setting or whatever.
Hope am not loosing my root privilege? BTW, which of the method do I apply from the mentioned above to do the reset?
Sent from my LT15i using xda app-developers app
nope you will not, personally I will wipe with CWM, there was once I did it from settings and ended up with a soft brick
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
U can use CWM n within settings as well
//Arc S rocks//
Factory reset and wipe CWM, but wipe CWM is better
Just Settings-Privacy-Reset phone.
No need to bother installing CWM and messing up system files.

Flashtool and flash gingerbread again. If you wish, you can keep your data by unticking Wipe data, Wipe Cache and Wipe Apps Log.
Or if you have unlocked bootloader, you can use Sony EMMA (Sony's own flash tool, works only with unlocked bootloader) to reinstall Gingerbread.
I think wipe should be useful. Flash GB again and wipe your phone. Do it with Flashtool. Also you'll use your data, so make a backup before.
