im using mimicri 1.5CM9 rom.and im trying to install miui camera.apk, the download start but not finish the instalation, its show me miui camera not installed.
It sounds like there is a problem with the .apk and the ROM. I am not 100% sure because I have never changed the camera.apk on my phone, but I think that the phone is rejecting it because it does not see it as compatible. Sometimes when I try and flash things, it gives me an error as well.
Instead of installing as a normal apk you can use a file explorer and drop it into system/app and change the permissions

I found an old thread with it, but the download doesn't work anymore.

Tried that and didn't work. Shows everything went through good, but still incredible camera.
Should be alternate or main camera toggle. It does work.

I've tried it 3 times and can't find it anywhere after I flash it.
I don't see that you responded to my post in your other camera thread, but here's a piece of it that may be relevant:

What version of recovery are you using? Have you tried manually booting to recovery and flashing rather than going through RM?
I ask these questions because it's possible that you are running a new version of recovery 3.x and trying to use the old update script. If you try it manually then you'll be able to see if it is failing to update (going through RM will just reboot and you won't realize it failed).

Here's an old zip from Virtuous:
http://files.virtuousrom.com/inc/extras/virtuous-install_evo_camera.zip
If you can't successfully flash, extract the apk from the zip and use root explorer to copy it to system/apps
Then just make sure to set the permissions properly on the file and reboot - that should do it

Thanks! I'll try that.
I have it. do you want it for an EVO based rom or Incredible framework, on a ROM like SkyRaider which is 100% incredible framework the EVO camera will work.. but it makes it so you can't send MMS msg...
I'm running virtuous so I would need it for that rom.

Can I also get the 100% Incredible framework version? Thanks.
I had that problem with the latest clockwork. Do you know if that camera will work on an incredible with Gingerbread?
So, there's an MIUI music apk in another recent thread.
For whatever reason I try to install and get parsing errors.
Long story short if you want an MIUI music apk that works, DL this. Install with root explorer or whatever explorer you like...
So you get parsing errors when you try to install this, why would none of us not experience the same thing?
What exactly did you change in it? You would get a parsing error if you 1: tried to install the MIUI music .apk onto a non MIUI ROM (like CM) or a version based on an older version like 2.2 or 2.1 or 2: if you tried to change some things and didn't get something right - did you port this?
Sorry, just trying to understand it all since we have a ported MIUI music apk, just wondering what's different here.

Wrongo, I experienced the same exact thing.

That was the entire point of the .apk. If you were running the MIUI ROM, why would you install the .apk?
The one that's a few threads down gives errors. This one doesnt. Found it elsewhere thought id share here since its a cool music player with extra options. I like using on non-miui rom.

Worked like a charm, and playing with it now.

Thanks. I was also getting parse errors on the other apk. This one works for me.

I downloaded, used RootExplorer to move to system/app and didn't change anything. Rebooted, works fine for me.

@ the parsing errors, make sure you are selecting the correct .apk, there is a 4kb temp file created on the sd card that is probably the reason u get parsing errors
I'm really liking this app. One question though: how does the lyric downloader work? I can't seem to make it work.
works well thanks
Sorry if this is out there but I am using version 10 of Miui camera and would like to upgrade to 17 to get fcc support... Anyone guide me on pushing this apk out instructions on how to get this over...i tried renaming the apk to Camera.apk and using root explorer and moving file to system/app but didn't work... Thanks!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You can use adb to pull the apk from the system, or use root explorer to copy it to the sd card, then rename it to Camera [already.apk] Then rename/delete the CM7 camera.apk. and use root explorer to copy the new one to the system app folder.
Found out had to change permissions on the file but now that it sees the new apk it just force closes when try to open.

Do you have both apps or just the one?
It just showed the one

You may want to just update the rom, unless there's some reason you're sticking with an older version. I'm on 1.5.20, FFC on the MIUI camera (not sure of the app version). MIUI is kind of like Sense in that so much of the rom-specific apps are tied into the framework, and more than the apk has to be changed to make it work... if it can be made to work. A lot of changes have been made to the ui in the last few months.
Also, the MIUI camera is named miuicamera.apk, so you may want to try that. Also try the MIUI thread or the miui-us forums. I thought I saw a flashable zip of the new camera for people on older versions, but it could be wishful thinking on your behalf.
What version are you running, and are you against updating? You can always nandroid, flash, and then restore if you don't like it.

For the most post I like and am fine with the stock browser. However, while I was running cm7, I came to like some of the differences between the stock cm browser and the stock sense browser. I tried swapping the apks between the two rooms (cm7 and incubus' rooted GB but the browser just fc'd. Is there a way to swap stock browsers between roms?
I'm currently running rooted stock gb and am happy with it except for that.

Did you install it then fun fix permissions? That may help.
Sent from my Droid Incredible running some random CM7 nightly.
How did you try to install the AOSP browser on your sense rom? I'd try putting it in system/app then setting the permissions to match the other apks. Should be r-w-rr.
Ah, I didn't try to fix permissions - I'll have to try it that way and see. Will report back, thanks!
No go - still force closes with matching permissions. I copied it over to the system\app folder with root explorer, changed the permissions and rebooted. I am going to try clearing the cache to see if that helps.
And clearing cache and dalvik didn't help, still FC. Hrm...
I don't think that's even possible since one is sense and the other is aosp.. and I can say this cuz I try getting the miui file explorer to work on a sense ROM without success...

Yeah, I can see that being the case, though I'd half expect to be able to get AOSP to work in sense, but not the other way around... *shrug*
Bah, I'll mess with it a little more and see, but I'm losing hope.
Good Day to all,
Just want to ask how can i make an apk to odex file?
I just want to try in the CM7 Lewa ROM,
I have this file, (see attached) that i need to make it work on my phone with Lewa ROM. I tried pasting it to the /system/app but it doesn't work and i havent seen it in the app drawer.
Hope, someone may help me or make an odex file for this apk,
Thanks
What application is it?
If pushing it to System doesn't work, odexing it won't. Leave it on the data partition and try to see if it works. Some apps refuse to work from the system partition. Or you may not have set the file permissions properly.
You can try using Link2SD to push to system or to data. It does a better job than doing it manually.
First install it using a file browser (Don't copy to the system or data partition). See if it works. Use link2sd to push to system. Restart and try to see if it works.
You can worry about odexing it after getting it to work from system.
it cannot be installed, it will just say "Application not installed"
The application is a SIM Toolkit, its an app for my telco operator, which i can do mobile banking, balance inquiry, money transfer, etc..
In some ROM it is automatically available after flashing the ROM, I just encountered the problem with this Lewa ROM, and since its a good ROM for me, i just want to make the SIM Toolkit works also.
From which ROM did you get the Stk.apk?
its already in my phone ever since i got the phone from the operator.
And every ROM i flashed it's still included automatically whenever i used the operator's SIM card.
as i remember i pull out the stk.apk on one of the ROMs of M1ndhax8r when i used it.
The apk comes with the ROM. The one you have would be from sense so it wouldn't work too well on non-sense ROMS like cm9 and cm7. Try directly installing this one. It's from CM7. It should work.

Wow, thanks for this its working now on Lewa ROM,

Glad it worked!
