Best in ear BT headset for the ET4G - single ear for making calls?

I figure people in this group probably only want the best phone equipment. I've been using the plantronics voyager 975 for years and it is extremely comfortable, light and sounds pretty good. I was curious if people had compared it to say the Jawbone ERA or other in hear headsets. I'm not fond of over the ear ones as I want it to be very compact to fit in my pocket but I need to be as clear to my clients as possible. I'm just looking for a single ear headset for making calls.
Anyone who has had the 975 and can compare it to a better headset would be ideal.

Yeah it just chills around your neck like a necklace no need to put it in your pocket. Plus it has two headphones makes it great for movies/music/driving conversations

I use a Jawbone Icon. Works great.

He/she wouldn't be the first person I have seen driving with headphones on. Actually is no different than the folks with the bass/stereo so loud that it is shaking rust off of the car...LOL. Neither situation is very safe.

Yes, and the noise cancellation is rather good.

I'm used to using headphones while driving. I do it all the time on my motorcycle. I'm a great driver so I don't really see the issue with it just like you said no different from blaring your stereo.

I use the stereo Plantronics, can't remember the model, it's about a year old. Has worked great with every phone and laptop I've thrown at it.
Mainly use it at the gym, so I can keep my phone in my pocket and not have to deal with cords. In the car, I use the BT in my stereo for music and calls (best invention ever IMO)

I don't use bt, but my dad uses a jawbone era and he loves it, he also used to use the plantronics voyager

Thanks - did you notice any difference in his voice quality when he switched to the ERA? I want my voice to sound as natural as possible when talking to my clients on BT.

I hear very mixed reviews on the BlueAnt. Some people absolutely love it and for some reason some people absolutely hate it. I've never tried it.

Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus. Great noise cancellation, good volume. People rarely know I'm driving in my loudish Jetta when I have it on. You can usually get it for around $70 on Amazon.

The jawbone war more clear iho. But the plantronics he said was a tiny bit more comfortable in his ear.

I had a blueant not the v1 though, and it stop working after 3 months of very limited use (just while driving)

Does the Noise Cancellation prevent you from hearing sirens of emergency vehicles or the horns of cars around you? It is illegal in California to wear headphones of any kind while driving.

Actually there is a difference in that in most Factory car stereos and the average after market head unit, the volumes are not loud enough to completely drown out outside noise. Either way it is technically illegal in California to have the radio at a level where you cannot hear car horns or the sirens of emergency vehicles. Regardless of how good of a driver you think you are, not being able to hear horns and sirens makes you a danger to everyone around you. Having relatives who are emergency response and firemen, I cannot tell you how many true stories I have heard about people being oblivious to the sirens and even the flashing lights and air horns.

I have had mine since it literally came out. No issues. Use it with my phone and with my PS3. I had the original one also which suffered from issues of the piece that goes in the ear braking off. Not with this one. I actually took my old one(black) and popped the black off and put it on my V1. I like the black more than that silver look. No issues....

I have had several of them. I love my Moto Finiti Bluetooth. You can say "answer" or "ignore" on incoming calls as well as,other voice commands. It also has 2 microphones and great noise reduction and it stays charged for a long time. There is also a Motospeak app on the Market that adds more options

[Q]Speakerphone Quality?

How is the Galaxy S2's speaker volume?
Are the speakers awesomely loud and full like on HTC's Touch Pro 2 (AT&T Tilt 2, best phone speakers ever), or low and tinny like the HTC HD2? The GS2 looks awesome, but I've only had HTC phones so I don't have anything else to compare it to.
I use it my phone's speaker for everything: phone calls, listening to radio shows, music and playing videos, so if the GS2's volume is significantly louder and better than my HD2, I'm gonna head to T-Mo and snatch it up.

it's super loud, too loud for comfort if you ask me, when set to max
it does not distort, as in no hiss or vibrate
but is not very tuned to the base side, it's just in flat/normal
not high on treble like other speaker phones (which i absolutely hate, as i can't stand high pitched noise... i meant voice)

The speaker's good and loud for phone calls and navi, but absolutely sucks for music, IMO.

Dude the speaker is great i had tge mytouch 4g and that was my only complaint speaker was super low. on the gs2 it is much louder and also usually when u lay the phone flat on its back it muffles the speaker but for me it makes it a little louder dont know if it is the body glove xase or what but for best experience go to market and grab volume + it works great and is an advanced dsp manager i love it. I had my doubts but it rocks now when im listening to a video i keep it about 4 notches below max

I can't say much as this is my second smartphone but i can tell you when i had an evo3d from sprint the speaker SUCKED ASS and i couldn't hear it for simple calls and texts. I had to install a app called volume plus that uses root to force your volume up which made the speakers crackle but functional. This phones speaker is a godsend compared to that bull****.

I've owned every highend phone on T-Mobile except for the Amaze 4g and I must say this phone has the best speaker phone hands down. I've even owned the Nexus S and Nexus One and none of them compare to this phone as far as sound quality goes.

Which Stereo BlueTooth headset has the best sound and best funtionality

Hi guys,
so my $80 skull candy ear buds have been lost or stolen, and i was thinking of getting a nice Stereo BT headset for when im working and shredding the slopes. I was looking at the LG HBS-700, but i know there is a lot more out there. Which one has the best sound (good highs, mids and really nice lows) and is the most functional. Would be nice to also be able to make and receive calls and prefer ear buds, but i am open to whatever really

I have used the Sony hbh-ds970 & the Sony hbh-ds980 for about 4 years with great Success. I like the style the Sound for music and voice, The oled display with caller Id. Best of all is the durability. I have worn them everyday. They where expensive but worth it if you use them a lot.

The motorola s9 is awesome, they dropped a newer s10 but its horrible, sound is very low, and audio playback sucks. You can find the s9 at amazon

how is the bass on all of the suggested headsets?

I have the LG HBS-700 and they are great. They do not give much bass but I mostly use them for audio books and some Pandora and calls when driving. The thing I like most is the way they fit, unlike most others BT Head sets they are comfortable and for $50 they are a deal. If your looking for major bass then these are not for you. In addition they give great call quality.
For double the price my father in law has a jaybird headset and swears by them. The only thing is because of the design they are easy to loose becuase you forget you have them on when not in your ears. He learned that the hard way, they fell in the fire when we went camping and didn't know till the next morning when we saw charred pieces in the fire pit. At that point he only had them for a week.

Bass send good to me on the jaybird but I should tell you that I I'm 46 and have some hearing loss from the time I spent in the military...
If you have a best buy near you which has a set in stock you could buy them, try them and return them if you don't like them.
...I have a set of less expensive skull candy wired headphones and I think they produce a bit more bass...

I personally do not like Bluetooth headsets for music Idk just really don't like them. But if you are looking for some really great headphones that are wired try Radio Shack and look for PointMobile headphones personally, there better then the Skullcandy Fmj and 50/50 combined and for only 30 its a steal.

I use bluetooth headphones exclusively as I don't like wires...
Have been using the Motorola S305 for the gym for a good 3+ years now. Fit really well, light, excellent battery life and solid BT range. Only concern is they're not as compact as the below headsets, so I only use them at the gym.
Jaybird Freedom's I use on my public transit commute to work. Don't stay on particularly well, even with their new rubber seals, but since I'm just sitting there with minimal motion they're fine. Poor battery life, maybe 3-4 hours per full charge and the range is short (<5 feet). I like the useful playback controls and volume buttons, however.
Outdoor Technology Tags are, in most areas, an improvement on the Jaybirds, but the cord is so darned long and the bright red is too flashy for my tastes. They fit remarkably well, seeing how similar they are designed compared to the Jaybirds. Battery life is also a bit longer than the Jaybirds.

Best bluetooth wireless headset?

For the last 3 years I have been using a Motorola s805 dj style headset. I used it for movies, music, and for talking. I has worked great but it recently broke, I would like to get something similar. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Suprisingly I have the dell stereo bluetooth headset (which is discontinued) and it's fantastic. the quality and life of those are great, but too bad i can't find them anywhere..
i'm currently using the plantronics backbeats 903+ and do do quite well. i like the "environment" feature (when you pause music it puts the mic to work to pick up sounds of what's around you so you can hear better when the music is off)

Go Groove Airband is pretty decent.

I checked both of those headsets out but it's not really what I'm looking for. Here is a picture of the Motorola s805 that I use to use. I would like something comparable.

I'm using a Samsung HM1100 which is probably the best one I've had since a Plantronics Voyager 510 and GN Netcom GN6210... all three were various priced but the HM1100 was the cheapest at $15 but seems to works least worst. However it doesn't support music and still not "loud" enough for my liking.

My all time fav was my Jabra BT8010. Great sound, a bit heavy, very comfortable, functional AVRCP, name callerid and dialing form the OLED screen, and best of all, instant immersive stereo just by attaching a second, smaller earpiece.
I'm currently playing with a Moto H17txt that I picked up refurbished for $15 and am very happy with it so far. Extremely small and light while still maintaining good sound and volume. I also just bought my mom a BlueAnt Q2 ($29 new, bulk) that is impressive, though larger and heavier. Reviews say it should work well in my convertible, I'll have to give it a try next spring.
My biggest gripe so far is trying to get a decent hands free voice dial working on the S3. Best solution I've found is Vlingo, but it requires that I run without a lockscreen. I even bought a Samsung HM3600 to try and get AVX working decently, but removing A2DP didn't smooth that app out near as much as I'd hoped.

I just ordered the Samsung HS3000. I used it for a few days as a headset, then got the idea to use it in my car to add bluetooth capabilities and handsfree driving. I clipped it to a point in my headliner and tried it out as a handsfree phone while driving at speed (around 80mph). The person on the other end said they could hear a little bit of road noise, but it sounded great. So it has been mounted in my car since then! Of course, it streams audio as well.
The take-away here is that these new BYOH (bring your own headphone) BT units can be more flexible than you think. I may order a second one to actually use as a headset!

I'm still rocking a BT8010 and I love it. I hate that the general idea of that kind of convertible monaural-binaural headset was abandoned by OEMs. I'm building my own headset that improves on the design since it's nearly impossible to find the BT8010 anymore and nothing else comes close.

I used to have the bt8010 as well, it's super nice but has 2 minor drawbacks
1) the earhook can come loose over time. I remedy this with a layer of electrical tape at the tip.
2) the wires that connect around back will get stiff and in a specific shape over time. not much can be done with that one....
but apart from that, it's a rocking awesoms bt headset. i still have a spare stereo part at home which is completely unused...

I appreciate the suggestions, the main use for the headphones is music and movies. I will be doing minimal talking, I use a Motorola h715 for that, I should have explained that better in the op. I will be using them at work for long hours there for I would like a over the ear headset. Any ideas?

do you prefer it to be discreet? or do you not care about the size. if you want discreet, try the the backbeats I mentioned or the jabra bt8010. if you want middle sized, try the dell bh200. it sounds surprisingly good and is pretty loud if you max it out.
I don't know about the big ones though...

Size doesn't matter, I just need them to be over the ear, comfortable, and they need to be noise isolating because I will also use them at work and I am required to use hearing protection. I have a budget of up to $200

Samsung HS3000 + your favourite set of in-ear or over-the-ear headphones. Will cost you less, will be more flexible and will make you happy, because HS3000 uses APT-X codec, which does the job well. If you get tired, if you break the earphones just plug in another set. I'm using it with a pair of Sehnheiser's IE7 IEMs, very little difference between this and the 3.5mm plug in the phone.

bummer, then I have no clue what would fit within your criteria.. I don't know of any bt headset that has noise cancellation. maybe try the dog tags with a decent headphone that has a built in noise cancellation doohickey on it.

these earphones to me are the best because, able to call, listen to music, hear clearly, battery life isn't that bad, simple to use. pricey by about 120 when i bought them but trust me for me to have them a a mountain bike cyclist it works xD!!!

I still have mine. They are awesome. I got them with my snowboard helmet nine.nine. they still work good. But now I only use then for boarding and ps3.

Speaker hype

So I have heard lots of great things about the speakers on this phone and I'm trying to decide if it's a lot of hype or if I got a phone with bad speakers. I have had the phone for 10 days now and while the clarity is good I'm not impressed with how loud the speakers are. Example is 4 of us were standing around a table watching you tube video yesterday and I wanted some more volume but it was all the way up. We could all hear ok but it wasn't overly loud. Another example is I turned on music player and cranked it all the way up and took a shower, phone was about 3 feet from the shower and I could barely hear the music. So I'm looking for your opinion did I get sub par speakers or am I expecting to much from these speakers?

I have not had a chance to compare it to another HTC one,but I just compared it to my old droid incredible 2 and the incredible 2 is every bit as loud if not louder. The one sounds a little better but like I said it is no louder than the old incredible 2. Hoping someone that used to have a incredible 2 can let me know what they think also.

I just compared my old dinc2 with my One, playing the same songs on each phone separately and at the same time, and the One was a little louder than the dinc2. Not by much, but definitely louder. However, the audio quality of the One is much, much better. Though I will happily listen to audio on my One while working, I never did that with the dinc2 given its speaker audio quality. As far as max volume is concerned, mine is plenty loud and I don't need it to be any louder.
Maybe stop by a Verizon store and compare the volume of yours with the display phone.

Mine isn't that much louder than my wife's iPhone either.

I stopped by Verizon today and did just that. I loaded a pearl jam song on both phones on youtube and they sounded the same. But I do agree with you that the sound quality on the one is far superior to the incredible 2, I just wish it was a little louder.

And this is the kind of thing I had heard about the phones speakers before I got it to lead me to believe that the speakers are even better than they are. You must have some better acoustics in your shower than I do. Over all I am happy with the speakers so I wont complain to much.

I've basically found that while this phone isn't all that much louder than other devices I've had. I came from the S4 and that was pretty loud.
However, the One has infinitely better clarity when it comes to the audio. I'll take that. Now if by some crazy magic they can figure out bass, but given the space available I'm sure that will never happen.

I have and have had a lot of android devices. Some of which (Galaxy Nexus) the speaker volume was so low that is required many tweaks via the kernel and third party apps to make it even reasonable. I agree with you that there is a lot of hype in the "boom sound" of the HTC One. Personally, I don't find the volume to be extremely loud but I do find the quality of the sound to be better than any of my other devices. The thin devices we all love jam so much into their size that the speakers often suffer. If you prefer loudness over the quality of the sound there are third party apps you could try. For me the sound is plenty loud and sounds great.

Loudest phone i've ever had. Some things don't seem like they're are that much louder, if noticeable than other phones, but obviously you have the clarity. Youtube may not be the best test as the audio isn't always the greatest. One thing i can note is when volume is maxxed, the notifications are ridiculously loud.

Seems pretty loud to me. I use it to listen to music while I shower and the fan is on. Still hear it fine. I'll be damned if another phone could match that performance.

Seems to be hit and miss with people. I think some had unrealistic expectations. Honestly for me they are perfect. You have to realize in any noisy environment nothing will hold up short of a real larger speaker. These things are outstanding when compared to any other phone.

With beats enabled the volume seems a bit quieter but the quality is much better out of the speakers. If you need a little louder try turning off beats.

So which phone would everyone say is the loudest?

If I remember my specs correctly, since there are two speakers, the One can do stereo audio.

My droid DNA was louder than the One but you had to have the phone on a flat surface as a reflector.
