Tablet mode when plugged into TV - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Would something like this be possible as a feature in a custom rom? Or is it already out there and I just haven't found it yet?
Edit: I am aware of the ParanoidAndroid hybrid rom but would like it to just do tablet mode when plugged into the TV. Similar to how motorola phones did when using the lapdocks

[Q] VZW Galaxy Nexus MHL and usb to pc isssues.

A few months ago I plugged my gn into the pc and nothing happened. The pc use to recognize it and i would transfer files ect. now nothing. I have turned off usb fast charge and it still doesnt work. I also just purchased a samsung MHL and it doesnt work either. I had it plugged in and turned on NFL mobile app and it said (error tv out plugged in) so the phone knows it is there but i get nothing out to the tv. yes I have the power plugged into the device. The phone screen does go into side view as soon as I plug it in but nothing shows up on the tv. Im wondering if something is wrong with my phone or if there is a setting im not aware of since both of these are not working.
Im running aokp jb 3 and faux kernel. I would appreciate any help with these issues.

Try flashing a different kernel for ****'s and giggles. I haven't used MHL with faux yet but I know it works on LeanKernel. Just a shot in the dark.
~~~~There is no spoon~~~~
even i am facing the same issue. i have stock jb version on my galaxy nexus (intl version) and when i connect the MHL cable, the screen rotates side ways but nothing gets displayed on TV. let me know if you have tried flashing with a different kernel. Appreciate your help.
Is It Possible To Use USB Devices with the Kindle Fire?
I got a little micro usb to usb adapter for a buck and I've tried connected a few flash drives and a keyboard to it but nothing seems to happen.
Is there anyway to get usb devices to work with the kindle or no?
Yes, there are certain USB devices that work great with the Kindle Fire. First thing is, the device must be rooted and running a custom ROM. A recent JB ROM will do just nicely and CM7 on the Kindle DOES NOT SUPPORT OTG.
I successfully use a Logitech k120 keyboard without any problems. Usually as soon as I plug it in, the Kindle will recognize it and then it's useable. The keyboard DOES NOT require a powered USB hub. I also can use a USB optical mouse but a powered USB hub IS REQUIRED for that as the Kindle does not have enough power output from its micro-USB port.
I haven't really tried to mount a flash drive yet but some do require a powered hub and others do not.
Are you using an actual OTG adapter? I bought one off an online auction site for $2 and it was labeled for "Samsung" devices but that doesn't matter.
Thanks for your reply.
This is the adapter I bought:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005QX7KYU/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Did I get the wrong one?
Is there a notification to let you know it recognized a device? Anything in the settings I have to change?
That's the same one I bought. On the 4.2.2 ROM I run, as soon as I plug in the keyboard to the adapter some notification DOES come up but I can't remember what it says lol. If I try to plug in the USB optical mouse WITHOUT a powered hub, the mouse lights up indeed but that's all it does. It does not function other than lighting up.
I'm currently typing this on CM7 as my Kindle is set up to dual boot. Some keyboards are not compatible at all, I couldn't tell you which ones exactely but I remember seeing that stated somewhere down the line.
In reference to the Settings, there is nothing I had to change keyboard wise to get it to function. There are simple options for the mouse cursor like speed. The flash drive is a different story and many people have had to use apps like Stickmount and such to get them to work. Unfortunately flash drives are hit or miss and a couple different approaches have been used to mount them.
Hope that helps
[Q]
Hi,
I have a Samsung Smart Dock and supposed to use it for my Note 2.
The dock charges my phone and opens the dock home screen when plugged but can't make HDMI to work.
Is it because I'm using Nova Launcher and froze TouchWiz?
Is it because I removed all bloatware from installation of Omega ROM?
Is it because I am using a HunterF aluminum case?
Is it because of my HDMI cord?
Is it because of my LED Samsung TV? (HDMI compatible)
I'm sorry, I forgot to add a title.
Anyone?
Bump for this.
Well as for the first, you can restore touchwiz and see if it works.
As for the second, I don't think that many people will be in quite the same situation you're in, and even if they have a smart dock, they won't go installing omega just to help you out. Might wanna ask in the omega thread to see if they support the use of smart dock (which I think it does).
As for the case, if the dock recognises the phone is connected, it shouldn't matter. Hdmi cord, if title works on other devices, I don't see why it wont work for the smart dock.
Led TV, same as above. If it works for other hdmi input devices it should work for smart dock.
I'm getting my dock sometime next week so maybe I can help a bit further. But try restoring those apps you removed, especially the weirdly named ones.
Last resort, Cwm backup and flash stock rom and see if things get sorted. If it does, omega isn't compatible with smart dock. If it doesn't, something else is wrong, probably the cord or TV etc
[Q] maintain / stablize usb otg voltage
Hello,
Would like to thanks in advanced for anyone who replies with any relevant concrete info.
Since i got my tp-24g01 wireless touchpad keyboard in Japan back in 2009ish, i love it. its a 2.4ghz wireless keyboard kick ass keyboard. anyway it works flawlessly on otg with htc m8, pc, ps4 but not on n7.
I have nexus 7 flo 2013 wifi 16gb with cm12 of may 30 2015 with elementalx kernel for cm.
i cant really blame cm12 rom for being worse than stock in this case, let me explain,
out of the box stock rom and then even updating it from android v5 to 5.1 the keyboard would be recognized by the device but after a few seconds it would start to stutter and eventually i would have to plug in and back every FEW seconds. --- why me right --- i guess people like to use bluetooth and i could buy a bluetooth keyboard, however my hands are totally used to the layout and width of this keyboard, plus i like how it looks.
---- thus the reason why i changed to cm12 with elementalx kernel ---
it was worse, the rom would would not even recognize the keyboard. i pretty much downloaded all the usb otg helpers on play store, somehow i end up searching for s3c usb host drivers for android, and with that i was finally able to use the keyboard, it works better, but still it timesout.
ive read on xda that nexus sometimes requires extra electricy current for some things to work. this is where my question comes in..
is there way to stablize, regulat by force the output voltage so that it doesnt time out.
im an afficiando for all this stuff so i cant really be 100% certain,
however, i do believe its some kind fo voltage issue because ive used my m8 with the keyboard i n the same spots and it doesnt time out. when i download something it drops hard.
anyone know of solution for this
is it possible to force regulate or increase the power the nexus give to the otg?
any rom or kernel that has this fixed?
i would even appreciate key terms to search because i have burned out of ideas
Update
Been reading a lot
This device is really bad for hardware
Without using stickmount and otg power lock
Transfer speed to otg USB was 1.3mb/s and times out after 15 minutes ::: hate this device :::
With I get 4mb/s and the file transfered before 15 minutes so I don't know of would have timed out
Not to mention I had to boot it up connected to the otg
Makes Total sense that my wireless keyboard timed out
I'm still hoping for some software solution to this but I know it that will most be unlikely.
Have big expectations for the HTC version as I love that company
Final solution order y otg cable or powered hub and Bluetooth keyboard for when I travel.
MasalaMa
its me again
have some news.
Although it seems tht the nexus otg does not have the same type of support as my htc m8
the initial root cause of my problem
when i flashed elementalx kernel i selected otg usb charge, duh, it was a no brainer why the otg wouldnt mount my keyboard
however the sc3 usb host anroid drivers did help to fix this unnecessary problem
after having freshly flashed cm12 again the keyboard is recoginzed but the same problem persists as it did with stock rom. problem still there after trying to juice it up with the elementalx kernel by boosting cpu clocking and perhaps will start testing other kernels for other i/o scheduling and governors
any tips? recomendations?
i also installed OTG power lock which to some extent may have helped but im still getting the same issues. it seems that with this app helps a bit, however still insignificant.
might have to ge really technical
Question S22 OTG Gamepad Gamesir x2
I have an S22 with Stock Android and bought Gamesir X2 to play XBOX Cloud and Retroarch games with it.
For some reason I decided to buy the USB-C version over the Bluetooth (I thought I was neat to be able to charge the phone while playing and also less input lag due to BT delays).
Thing is, gamepad arrived, I rushed to plug it in and found out nothing happened. Gamepad blue light stays blinking (its supposed to stay blu when connected) and the phone doesnt even detects anything.
This is supposed to be a simple OTG gamepad, so should be plug-n-play.
I reached to Samsung about 'how do I enable OTG to use my gamepad' and the answer was 'OTG is enabled by default'
I also reached out to Gamesir, they told me to try press G+S buttons on the pad while connected, but nothing happened
There's a Gamesir app that is suppsed to be used to detect it (and also map the gamepad on some touch screen games) but doesnt work for me
I also found some guy on youtube claiming I should enable ADB debug and set USB default to 'File transfer'. Doesnt work either
Anyone having the same issue?
Anyone having a USB-C Gamepad working?
Any ideas on what to try out to get it working?
Thanks in advance
I've recently run into a similar issue however on a S23+. The device I'm trying to use is a Seek CompactPro FF USB-C which uses powered OTG. No need of a cable as it has USB-C built into the device itself.
It didn't work at first, it detected it and tried to open the "Seek Thermal" app which is normal but in the app itself the device was not being detected. Did a ton of searching until finally I found another person having a similar issue where the work around was to plug in the OTG device, then reboot the phone with the device still plugged in.
Give that a try? IMO it shouldn't be like this, and it isn't very well documented anywhere I look...but that worked for me for my device. Did not work any other way. Device works perfectly fine after rebooting phone with it plugged in.
Thanks for your reply 86, tried that but didnt work for me. I saw a couple of videos where the blinking blue light might mean that its not connecting well (its supposed to stay blue) so I guess its something to do with how the cable is connecting. Since Gamesir already told me I have no warranty nor support from them as I bought it on Amazon instead of their site I'm thinking on tearing it appart during the weekend.
If I break it I'll end up with a nice pouch case for my cables (the most expensive pouch ever).
