Ok I've been on this forum for a good while now but I just recently decided to root. I'm about 3 weeks in.
My Current Stats:
Samsung Galaxy S III T999 (White 16GB)
ROM: FrostyJB_4.1.1-v3(BLUE)
KERNEL: KT747- 10/09/2012
RECOVERY: CWMTR v6.0.1.2
I haven't had any problems so far that I couldn't figure out by reading through threads. The only thing I couldn't find is information on modems as they relate to different areas. I tried doing a search but no luck. Is there one thread with everything regarding modems. I hate even asking this question because I see folks get rather irritated when they are asked something that's pretty elementary to them. But F*ck it ..I need to know.
Look at the other thread the one edited someone answered you anyway.

I've been flashing each new one as it comes out. Has worked well for me. Seems Samsung is trying to improve signal strength.

The title sys it. I was curious if they had said anything in regards of a patch or fix for the Ics ota update. I went stock ota for a few days and went to sprint to see what they would say. The tech handed me the phone back and said root it.

I told him I was rooted after he said that. but I wanted to see if the ota was as bad as it sounds. I wanted to see if they knew of why it seemed like the radio was bad and getting reversed results when it came to DL and ul

not entirely sure what is wrong with the new OTA but I have also have problems with the new update and when I took it to sprint, the tech said the same thing "you should root it". I told them I should but it's not my fault of hardware or software issues and after some talk (I know the guys at the store), they helped me get a replacement. Hopefully the replacement doesn't have any problems too.

I haven't heard of any of the other SGSII phones having issues.. Only sprint.... Seriously, I hope they are working on fixing everything and releasing a jeallybean update.. Cuase for them to push out a buggy 2 month old FF18 as the final product is pretty sad.

The story is coming from Samsung directly. You think sprint is going quick to get jb out to us when we were the last to get ics? I'll be very surprised if they update us at all.
Sent from behind you.
a fix for what? If you don't like the ota run one of the fine, bug free ff18 based roms like blue kuban or goodness. Try cm9 or aokp you don't like those. The only reason you have a "buggy" ics build is because you choose to. That said we didn't see all of these complaints when people were running the ff18 leak, the only thing that has changed is the people running it... furthermore why are you posting on xda asking for a patch? Go to sprint users or sprint forums if that's all you're concerned with and want to complain, they'll listen to you there, I thought this was the place where we solved our own problems... not that I think there's anything wrong with ff18.... now flame away instead of spending the time to search and figure out why you're having the issues you're having when plenty of people are running ff18/ff18 based builds without difficulty or issue

I've ran all ics ROMs my phone just don't get the bandwidth with any of the modems released. I went to ota so I could see if they had an answer for why I got **** download and upload speeds. I can't go in there rocking rujs blu Kuban saying hey my phone won't get a signal anywhere here's my phone and fix it. I miss the roms but I can't get any signal I tried different kernels modems scripts and even garbage off of the app market to improve my signal. Sprint is well aware of it. I posted on xda because people seen to get answers and everything else before people find out. Im not asking a question for devs to fix it im asking the community in the xda q&a section. And it's for our phone correct? So that's why im in the xda forum asking the question.

Hey everyone so I'm using the AOKP Milestone 6 ROM and upon doing the speed test, I'm getting ~ 600 kbps. I was wondering which radio is recommended by the majority of people here for this particular ROM? Thanks!
Test them all out, it depends on your location so nobody can tell you which ones best

Gotcha. Is there a link to all the radios currently available? Sorry I'm just new to this forum and modding my phone with custom ROMs so forgive me.
Well here's one and this is the blaze radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793001
Just flash in recovery
http://sourceforge.net/projects/darksidetools/files/ Here are two more radios, the only one you can download are the LC8 one and the LE1. Make sure it says Tmo and don't flash other ones.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Apparently the Blaze radio is a bit iffy for those who have AOKP m6. In my own case, I flashed it and I got great signal at my work, it's just that the data wasn't working at all so I quickly switched back to the original (UVLE1 / The modded one with no RIL's). If you're interested, you can find the modded UVLE1 in Darkside's ' .evolution [rom] ' thread in the 'Android Development' forum.
I've had the best luck with the Tellus radio.

I'm new to the gs3 just moved on from the HTC sensation. I have a question. Can we use the same roms from the international gs3 on this one? Sorry if this has been asked just couldn't find it

No
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Only flash ROMs made for the specific carrier. If you flash an international ROM onto a T-Mobile galaxy s3, your phone will be hard bricked and the only way to unbrick it is to get it JTAG'd, which can cost around 60$.

U can't flash any of the international version roms, but the stateside variants are flashable..
sent from GS3 disguised as a GNote2
most ATT roms should be directly compatible with little effort for our tmo GS3. However, do not flash an ATT modems, that will brick your phone for sure.
I also recommend you use TWRP, seems to be less issues with it. good luck and welcome
I suggest you stick to flashing only what you find in this forum. At least until you have had time to get used to your new device. You will run into quite a few conflicting reports on what does or doesn't work well with this phone. Give it time and you will figure out for yourself which are right and which are wrong.
We have plenty of roms and a number of ports from the other carriers so it really shouldn't be necessary to go flashing anything from somewhere else.
Use the other forums for reference, ideas, and learning more about your phone. If you find a mod or app you want to try, just ask if your not confident about it.
Good luck and welcome!
Oh, just fyi, the reports about the i9300 and i9305, are correct! Do NOT flash any roms or mods built for those! Guaranteed Brick!!

Hello, I don't own this device but a friend does. I was wondering if there is any LTE roms with multiwindow either already made or in the works? If so what is best rom for the device? Yes I know that will be answered with opinions which s fine with me, I am just brand new here (S3 section) and looking for input. Thank you in advance!

There are plenty of ROMs with multi window. However, your friend will only be connected to lte if he has the t999L which can connect to lte, if he has the t999 he cannot get lte. Also, if he's not in an area with lte he won't be able to connect to it

Yes he does have the 999l version. Could you be so kind as to push me towards a nice multiwindow rom please.

Any touchwiz rom you see should have multi window. Almost all are up to date as far as I know. Just look for UVDMD5 or just MD5.

Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium

Just stay away from the firmware and modems in case you dont know.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
That's excellent thank you! Wait. .. stay away from firmware, isn't that what I'll be changing?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
When we refer to firmware its generally the Odin flashable stuff. Official from Samsung.
But theres also a recovery flashable In the development section that has all those underlying parts of the firmware. (Bootloader, modem, rpm, tz. Each on its own partition)
If you stick to just roms and kernels you ought to be just fine.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Ok, now I understand. I do have Odin experience. I agree with you. Because I'm not familiar and have zero experience withthat device. What does work in my favor though is that most of these Samsung device are treated and dealt with in the exact same fashion.

Just got my t999L today, and almost done pulling all the data off the internal card. Would like to unroot it before I send it in the return sleeve but i want to ask what exactly is a Flash Counter? I see a few threads saying how to reset or avoid tripping it, but nothing quite explains what it is. Should I bother resetting it for a simple warranty exchange? And I assume I could simply do an Odin stock flash and that will take care of my unrooting issue?
Triangle Away will reset it.
THEN odin the stock firmware.

And yes actually I have noticed great increase in speeds. Certain areas getting as much as 30up and 15down. Others are about the same down wise but the up speed has greatly increased.
Even if the speeds were in fact the same, I love that only select few roms work and there are bugs aplenty. I grew somewhat bored of everything working perfectly on the standard t999. Its like having the evo 4g all over again! Time to be a test mule
