Hi guys,
Just wanted to check if any of you have had issues with the GPS/Maps?
I have a weird problem where apps like Facebook/Foursquare/Whatsapp are not able to obtain my location. It just stalls "waiting for location"
Whether I have GPS turned on or off it's the same problem
However when I load the Maps app, it is able to obtain my location without any issues, which is weird
Anyone else facing this problem?

I have looked around the threads, and have not found a similar posting. Please no flames if this is a dupe!
I am having a bizarre conundrum on Froyo with the Moto Defy and the stock camera app.
I have not used the phone with 2.1 and so do not know if this is an issue on 2.1
THE ISSUE: Latitude is being recorded into the EXIF data as a negative number. This means 3rd party apps interpret the location as being off the coast of Chile.
So why is this an issue? I AM IN NEW YORK CITY.
Additionally, despite my best efforts to fix this, when the Auto Location Tag function starts up it says "Retrieving City Name" and always returns with "null, New York" as my location.
This occurs with or without GPS enabled, and with or without a satellite lock. It even happens with A-GPS enabled.
Google Maps, and other apps, are able to correctly figure out my position -- even with just WiFi enabled.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Update
I'm curious to know the interplay between gps.conf and gpsconfig.xml
I tinkered with both, and now I have a faster lock on GPS satellites.
However, the BlurCamera.apk app still inverts the latitude to a negative number in the EXIF data it writes.
Anyone have any ideas?

I see, I'm not the only one with this problem. I made a similar thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11769279#post11769279) because i found this one just today, but what i want to know: did you fix this problem?
edit: lol. nevermind, didn't notice that it was you answering in my thread. but still no fix, damn
See other thread. (short answer: no.)
When my phone boots, the GPS begins 'searching' for a lock, which, when indoors, it will never find. I'm trying to determine what process or application is activating the GPS.
Couple of notes:
- The hardware toggle for the GPS is 'on' and I'd like to keep it that way; but I only want the GPS to activate when I need it (e.g., Google Maps, etc.)
- Using AutoStarts I've reviewed the list of applications that startup during boot, and cannot identify a culprit.
To be clear - I'm NOT looking per se for a list of apps that MIGHT be activating the GPS; what I'm looking for is a definitive way of determining WHICH specific app or process has activated the GPS. I do have a couple of logging/monitoring apps which I could use, but it would be helpful to know exactly what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance!
I use google latitude and that's the only time I experience this. Whenever I'm logged out of it I don't experience the GPS at start up. Just my two cents on it. Might be the culprit for you too..

<Bumping> this question back up, as I still cannot identify the process that's activating my GPS. Cheers!
Having the same problem on a Defy + after an update
Should the GPS be connected one time after the update?
I've run a gps test soft found on the market, connect the gps to satllites. close the soft. close the phone.
When ligthe the phone, ther's no gps icon trying to connect nor gps ticked in preferences.
Problem solved
Hope it will work with your phone to
I recently installed CyanogenMod 11 FXP339 with the GApps mini package on an Xperia M2 dual C2005 and have noticed that I can't get a GPS fix in Google Maps but do get a fix within a few seconds in Navigator and GPS test. If I switch between Maps and GPS test I notice that GPS status is always "no fix" when returning to GPS test, but is set to "3D fix" in a few seconds. If I switch between GPS test and AndroiTS GPS Test there's seems to be a fix from the start.
The location setting is on and set to "High precision" (GPS, WiFi and mobile).
If I set location to "unit only" (GPS only) I get no positioning at all in Maps, but Navigation and the test apps still position.
I've seen this GPS fix thread but it seems to be for general GPS problems, while in my case it's only one app (Google Maps) that has this problem.
Has anyone else seen this and what can be done about it? I don't remember having this problem on the stock ROM.
Hi guys,
I have a strange problem with my flo (using CM11 M12). Most of the time my location mode is set to "Battery saving". However, I recently noticed that when I open the Google Maps app, it complains that location services are disabled. If I set it to "High accuracy", it works, my position is indicated on the map. Having GPS enabled with "High accuracy" should not have anything to do with this, since I'm indoors, and my position appears right after setting "High accuracy". Anyone with similar experiences? Thanks!
Ever since the latest updates, our GPS Location service has no longer been functioning. Unlike before where the GPS + Data updated me of my location in real time, now the GPS shows "No Service" or "No GPS" (Waze), Ive tried numerous GPS Apps like GPS test, GPS Location fix, and so on to no avail of a fix, it also shows No Fix on GPS Test (Meaning that it doesn't detect any GPS Satellites) unlike before. When I was on the very first stock rom firmware, my GPS locked immediately at the same time updated me in real time of my location, whereas now, without GPS my location skips from one place to another as it base's my location through Data connection.
This isn't only for me, I have three other friends as well who own ZE550ML's (As we bought all at the same time), and this is our biggest concern right now as we travel with a car.
Any manual fix or latest update for this will/ shall be greatly appreciated.
P.S.
• I have tried flashing the latest firmware as well and still my GPS wasn't working. We all tried.
• I've also tried asking via ZenTalk to no avail...
