I just found this website and ordered a new fingerprint scanner. It is a lot cheaper than Cellular DR. I'll update the thread when I receive it on request. You can use paypal so you should be safe.
thank's for sharing! from where did you order?how much shipping?
Hi, do you know if this bezel:
http://www.chinagadgetland.com/front-bezel-cover-for-motorola-atrix-4g-mb860-p-10007155.html
will replace the casing around the hdmi and charging port as I have snapped mine and the phone is slightly lose in the dock.
Shipping was only $4.
Not sure if thats the side, but it does not look like it to me.
Though this seems like a good vendor, they're hardly cheap.
I've seen the Atrix's LCD for ~$60 and it was over $70 here.
are the replacement part available on ebay not good?
if i wish to replace parts because touch isn't working and no problems with glass then do i have to replace the whole screen+digitizer or just the digitizer?

Your glass screen is your digitizer so, yes and no lol but you won't have to replace the LCD underneath the digitizer.
I bought a digitizer+frame off of ebay for about the same price as the digitizer this website. It was pretty easy to replace, as cell phone repairs go. It was a little scuffed up when I got it because it was used, but it fixed my issues!
Just received my fingerprint scanner today.
Worked perfectly by the way.
Two cautions:
1. Does not come with the bottom piece of the fingerprint scanner, only the scanner part. What I did was remove the old scanner via force and just super glued the new one on top of the bottom piece.
2. Came marked up by a permanent marker where the scanner is, but easily removed by alcohol.

lol funny thing happened. i replaced my digitizer with an OEM refurbished one and gave it a wipedown somehow in the assembly my fingerprint scanner has started working for the first timeever.
i must say its awesome
Thanks for the link.

Sony Ericsson X1 Replacement Touch Screen/Digitizer Module
Price: $4.08 free shipping
I just ordered 2 This renders the protection screens useless.
Cheers!
Cool, just have to find out if it is really genuine! You never know, its DX.. If it actually is, bye bye irritating screen protectors.
I will post photos when I receive it. I'm eager to remove the thick plastic cover I use to protect the screen - the touch sensitivity is definitely affected by its thickness.
I doubt this is a genuine part - what's important is to work as such.
DX is slow during christmas and new year season, so you might have to wait a long time for it. Also the hong kong post is slow now
But i am waiting eagerly for the photos!
Hope it will perform well.
i just orderd this one..
http://cnn.cn/shop/sonyericsson-xperia-digitizer-p-6916.html
its working 100% and its oem. only 5$ for shipping. also its really hard taking off the original digitizer/glass. its glued on so make sure you take your time when your doing it because you can break your lcd. also the one i purchased was pre-glued with plastic on it so it was easy to put on.
I doubt there is a difference between these two, considering the price.
OMG, I just buy a piece from eBay for $7 + $3 shipping fee. poor me....mad:

I'm still waiting my order ... dealextreme free shipping, you know
hi.. i am working on a new project with touchscreen..
can any one provide me links where i could buy this module...
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32335
Here u go. The same link is in the first post.
I've just recived mine, here are some photos. How it works i will be able to tell next week, i think, because I don't think i am able to change it myself.
I'm afraid the cargo camel that brings the goods from hongkong probably has a flat tyre somewhere in the desert... so my digitizer is still on the way.
For anyone that had experience replacing the digitizer, does it involve soldering??
I don't think it needs soldering. I fitted one to my Orbit 2 and that had a similar ribbon like the X1 digitizer. It just has connector that the ribbon pushes into.
This is an excellent screen protector to protect your new digitizer: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23639
They do not need soldering. Just got done replacing mine with this a few weeks back. Took me about 3 hours. I also purchased this set of tools as well: dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.29544
They are invaluable, if I didn't have them I would have never got past the first couple steps.
I used this tutorial mostly (along with a couple others) to guide my way thru: formymobile.co.uk/xperiadisassembly.php
There are also many other ones if you google X1 disassembly. The only part I F-ed up on was during the removal of the metal trim ring that is glued to the old broken digitizer module. This is very thin. I bent mine in a couple of spots. Use a heat gun to warm it and it will slide right off.
Reassembly went OK. If I remember right something fell out and I couldn't figure out where it went but after looking at multiple guides I figured it out.
Mine works 100%, already ordered another one. I see they also have the actual LCD screen now too at Dealextreme.
Thanks for the info. I think I got some water leak in the digitizer. A little bit of the upper right corner area was not working last week. But the whole touch panel is not working today (already flash stock rom back to make sure it's not software issue). I think I will just buy the LCD+Digitizer in ebay (about $40) and let's see how it goes....
Just want to report back. My touchscreen is back to working with the new LCD+Digitzer. $29 form here: http://www.ezelektronix.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=1872¤t_cat_id=276 which is relatively cheap. Takes 2 weeks for me to receive the package.
Hi all
So I finally got my parcel from AX
Can someone tell how to replace it
Thanks in advance
i changed the Digitizer only.
with help of a heatgun and a sharp knife.
Hi guys,
I remember I also bought a digitizer once for a HTC prophet and the quality was noticeably lower than the original. I lost contrast on screen and had other issues. Is this one exactly the same quality as the original touch screen ?
Hey guys,
I cracked the digitizer and LCD on my captivate and was wondering where I could find OEM parts for the captivate. I've checked ebay and amazon, though the prices were very steep. I know I will have to shell out something, but $150 for a digitizer and new LCD is outrageous. I only payed $8 for an iphone 3gs replacement (though is more widely used, thus the cheap price). If anyone has a suggestion, I am all ears and eyes.
Gorilla you mean?
No idea how to get them either.
Sent from my Captivate. Andromeda 3, Onix 2.0.5 @ 1.2Ghz
It's actually pretty easy to break the screen if you're trying to... I have a terrible temper.

The website doesn't really specify exactly what's there and the pic is useless. Do you just have to get the plastic housing off of your phone and then just install your old motherboard and attach all of the cables?
Or is it just the glass part and you have to figure out how to attach it to the motherboard assembly?
My screen is also F'ed.
In AMOLED screens the display and the usual "digitizer found in older LCD are all in one piece. Hence the price... you cannot separate them so to speak. The replacement part basically is the whole front of the phone housing and all.
Find the break-down video and you will see.

The whole phone has to be disassembled to remove the front glass and LCD. Once the back plate is off, you get a small flat head screwdriver (non magnetized) and pry up all of the cables. after that take a small pry tool, and pry around the front housing and the screen. There are clips and glue that hold it all together, so once the clips are free, you still have to gently pull the housing and screen apart. Once you do it a few times it is pretty simple and takes about two minutes. If you need a more technically specific run down, let me know.
I got my phone all apart... anybody have a trusted ebay or internet source for a new OE LCD/Digitizer?
Hi guys,
I have just broken my Dinc2's glass screen. The underlying LCD screen is still functional and the touch screen works. So, I am guessing that I only broke the glass on the top of the screen... I uploaded pics to make it clear.
The casing near the USB port got bent some time back when I went kayaking... And I think that is where the screen cracked significantly when I dropped the phone.
I can still use the touchscreen and there are no discoloration on the LCD. So, can you guys suggest to me what Screen replacement product I need to buy online and (preferably) give me a link for said product and a How to repair guide. Plus, is this process easy? As in if I spend a few hours carefully following the steps to repair, will I succeed?? Moreover, can I replace the metal casing as well?
Thanks for the help gang! I really need to get my phone back to 100% working condition as I don't have an upgrade available till April '13 and I have cancelled my phone's insurance recently!

So I have dust under my screen even though my phone is completely original and never been dropped. Do you think it's worth taking apart, cleaning out, and replacing the adhesive? How long do you think it would take, and what is the likelihood of doing more damage to the phone?

I actually just finished doing this a few hours ago. It does take some time to do it but if you have patience you can do it
You have to remove the LCD to remove the digitizer, so you will have all the parts out of the body of the phone. It is easier if you replace the body because it comes with new adhesive already perfectly cut and installed. If you reuse the old one you will have to scrape all the old adhesive off, then cut new adhesive. They are also available in red/silver/black so you can change colors.

That is what I was referring to as the body, since all the parts attach to it. I actually got an entire new housing, came with the bezel, the middle part, and a new battery cover since my battery cover was beat up and I was changing colors. The middle part I didn't need but it was cheaper to buy all 3 parts than just 2.
I got it on ebay. The Incredible 2 and the Incredible S housing parts are interchangeable. I ended up getting S parts because they were cheaper. Most of the ebay sellers are in China so shipping takes 1-2 weeks depending on the seller. Repairsuniverse is good if you want it fast, I ordered from them once and got the part in 2 days.
Parts arrived. Links to tutorials PLEASE!

Thanks, captain obvious!
I wanted to know if there is a detailed how to. Anyway, managed to take it apart. All guides end at taking it apart and say, "well, now you know how to dissemble it, just go in reverse and assemble it. Well. I wish they don't do that and show me through the reverse just to avoid mistakes. I remember having to redo IKEA furniture due to missing a few parts. Don't wanna do this messy procedure and realize I forgot a button or worst still putting the screen on!
Anyway, I am a grad student with a bachelors in Engineering... I should be ashamed if I can't do this! :silly:
repairsuniverse has a guide on youtube for replacing the digitizer. I found it easy to follow. Only difference is when you put it back together put the parts in the new body. You will also have to pull the speaker out of the old body and put it in the new. It is held in by glue, heat it with a hairdryer/heatgun and it comes out pretty easily. You might need to use some new adhesive on the speaker, I was able to pull the old adhesive out of the body in one piece using a hairdryer and some tweezers.

I am 100% done with the repair. But there are a few issues. The Vibrator motor seems to be not working. Then, the Digitizer I bought doesn't have a hole for the front facing camera! That is not a major setback as I rarely use it and I have a tablet and a PC to skype chat with... But it is sad that a feature is missing.
The big issue is the vibrator not working. I didn't mangle it and put it back in place as I am supposed to. Finally, I have 1 or 2 small dust particles under the screen and that is ok. I couldn't remove all the dust and it is a miracle I managed to get it that clean. Finally I seem to have a slight green tint/screen bleed at top left corner. I didn't have that before and I didn't distort the LCD while replacing. Is it due to a smudge on the LCD there? I suppose it is a minor issue and not something that will amplify as I have a Transformer prime that has screen bleeds and it is apparently because the screws are too tight.. So may be I tightened something too much? Anyway, if it doesn't deteriorate I am ok, as it is a very, very minor problem.
So, bottom line: Main problems > (1) No FFC (due to improper digitizer) -> I don't intend to fix it. (2) Vibrator motor not working.
Can someone help me with 2?
I fricking fixed it! I have WORK to do and I spent about 4 hrs fixing my phone!!! I'm kinda screwed for tomorrow! At least now my phone works...
That is odd it didn't have a spot for the front camera. I replaced my digitizer and it has a clear spot for it but it is not even close to centered. It actually looks like it would obstruct the camera but it doesn't. If you take it apart again for some reason you can scrape the black off the back so it is clear. However, it is very hard to do that and make it look decent.
Getting it perfect with no dust between the lcd and digitizer is very very hard to do. The first phone I did I actually took it apart again because there not only was dust but smudges on the other side of the digitizer. As for the bleeding I wouldn't think you could cause it from pressure in the inc2 because the lcd and digitizer are just held on the front by adhesive. The LCD has adhesive around the entire edge of it, I don't know if that also blocks light from the edges but if it does and there is a little bit missing maybe it is the cause.

The following are the images of my fixed and "pimped" Dinc2.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/qh62damm82z0qmu/2012-09-25 00.22.32.jpg
Is the two tone color combination looking sweet, or should I change the back to red as well? I have a spare black back cover. If anyone has a spare red back cover, I can trade!
Plus, the "smudge/screen bleed" at the top left edge is seen in this pic:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/illeve11tomyrtw/2012-09-25 00.54.23.jpg (The black spot on the middle of the left side is a dust spec!)
Close up: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ys4r2e6xmxfhnh/2012-09-25 00.54.48.jpg
Is the smudge bad? I think it is just a smudge on the LCD and not a damage to the LCD right? In that case, I am cool, as I most likely will cause other smudges if I attempt to redo it anyway. Plus, I am kinda bummed out about the lack of FFC, but I hardly use it and the whole process of removing the screen is SOOO tedious (and I don't have a heat gun, so had to put my phone a feet above a gas burner! ) and it was so painful and stomach wrenching to safely remove the LCD/digitizer that I don't wish to do it again to repair the FFC...
So, what do ya say?
I think the two tone looks good since the red phones have all black accents. I thought it was weird that the speaker on the red phone is silver, while all the other accents are black.
There seems to be a problem with the adhesive. The digitizer is raised by about 1 millimeter at the top while it is attached better at the bottom. I think it is because I had an additional horizontal strip of adhesive at the bottom to attach the digitizer to both the LCD and the buttons firmly while I didn't put such a horizontal strip at the top as I didn't see one when I dissembled it. If I put pressure on the digitizer for a while, it sets back in place for about half a day. Is this a serious problem? I don't feel like dissembling again.

Anyway, did you need all those parts to successfully change your screen? I thought if you bought a new housing you would not need the adhesive tape?

+1. Cracked my screen last week, still fully functional but crack pattern is expanding and I don't trust it to be usable for a long time to come.
Been searching for replacement screen assembly but found nothing. Going to try contacting Lenovo technical support in my country now...
Lenovo tech support pointed me to a repair firm.
Repair firm asks to send the phone in, after which they provide a quote. If I don't agree to get it fixed, I have to pay a few tens for problem analysis. Like wtf, it's a cracked screen, you change it, it's a standard job with a standard cost that you can give me before I send it in!
Called another repair firm. They can't get the screen.
Apparently these screens are just not available.
They are on Aliexpress right HERE.
Expensive as hell though, considering you can get a new P2 for 180 euro's or a new screen for 160.

Seems like nowhere.
The order I made on aliexpress was subsequently cancelled because of it being "out of stock".
Options at this point seem limited to:
1. get it fixed for stupid money (not even sure whether any fixing service can get their hands on it)
2. try to locate a damaged second-hand phone with working screen you can buy for less
3. if your LCD and touch input still work fine like mine, just put up with it and wait for some months until people start upgrading and the asking prices for second-hand models start to drop
4. meanwhile, search on aliexpress or ebay every single day and hope a screen gets available for an acceptable price
I dropped my phone yesterday and the screen shattered from end to the other but the phone is working fine. I have just ordered the replacement front glass off of ebay for £19.99 from HK but seems a bit too cheap to me but worth a gamble at that price. Only problem is I have no idea how to take the phone apart and separate the glass from the digitizer! Are there instructions about I could follow or is my best bet taking it to a mobile phone repair shop to get it done?
I can post the ebay number if anyone is interested.

I have a crack on my screen. I ordered a replacement glass on AliExpress which costs just ₹1450.
Its just the glass and not touch digitiser which costs₹10500.

Have you got instructions on how to take the phone apart and separate the glass from the digitizer? The last part is what i'm worried is going to be extremely difficult?!

You tube. Check the entire display removal tutorial. Then check glass replacement tutorial for galaxy s8.
After taking off display, you have to chip off the glass from display after heating it with a hot air gun. Then remove the residual UV glue from panel. Then after making sure panel is clean, apply new UV glue on center, then place glass on top and then press from center gently to spread the glue evenly and that's it.

Thank you but i'm never going to manage to do that myself, I don't own a hot air gun for a start. Looks like i've wasted £20 plus the postage as I doubt i'll find a mobile phone repair shop to do it for me, i'd happily pay someone to do it if I could find someone!
Hi everyone!
I bought a new display and a new fingerprint scanner. Now, on the old one the scanner was solidly glued to the screen. Does anyone have any ideas on how I should attach the new scanner to the new screen?
Like, is there thin double sides tape I could use? Just an example. On MIUI someone told me to use epoxy, would that block the ultrasonic fingerprint you think?
I attached some photo's, two are of the old scanner, still with some white display on it. it needs to be on the small glass windows in the other photo. The glass of the home-button on the old scanner is glues directly with some very thin-spread glue.
This is the new one I have:

What would you think is the best way to attach a ultrasonic fingerprint scanner to a display?
Please think with me! Thank you so much
Just use some epoxy resin! You know, the one that comes in two parts, and you mix together.
Take one that hardens in 3-5 minutes, prepare only a little glue, you wont need more than an equivalent of a small coin.
Make a test first, take same quantity of each resin component and mix it gently for about 10 seconds, then apply it to something you don't care about (ex. the old broken screen, and glue the old sensor into it). Wait the required time and then check that it's nicely glued.
If you made the mix wrong it won't work well and may keep in liquid state.
Have some alcohol to clean (Alcohol for wounds works well), the epoxy cleans easily with it when it's liquid. But once it has hardened it will be a nightmare!
When you are about to glue the sensor on the new screen, apply some epoxy onto the sensor, making a uniform coating of about 0.3mm or so, no too much, but it must be a little in excess to fully fill the gap between the sensor and the screen.
I often use it to repair phones in special cases as this one, never had a problem!
I should go for UV glue, I think this is what they do on manufacturer.

If you where buying on Aliexpress why didn't you just buy one that was already glued? It costs a couple of dollars more.

Could you please share a link? I didn't find a screen with working fingerprint sensor that cost only a couple of dollars more
Hey, did it work? I mean the epoxy surely does work, but does the sensor function properly? I would be willing to pay those 100$ for the original screen, but all of them are out of stock, and 150$ is a bit too much That means I have to go the oem screen assembly route :/
My screen died in milkwater btw.
did you solve the problem? i have to do same process but i dont know how
same here.
looking for soolution
Did you solve the problem? did you try to glue the fingerprint sensor to the new lcd? Could you please tell us about your experience, I am in the same situation
I'm gonna be trying this, but it will be a month or so till I get my new screen.

Where do all of you see screens for 100$??? Every OEM screen that I've seen on eBay runs from 50-70$ CAD so like 40-55$ USD
I looked in google and Aliexpress, I dont want an OEM screen- I want an original one, but noone sells it for a reasonable price. I found a original LCD with OEM digitizer though (40$), and thats what I went for. Just waiting for the package.
I bought the highest rated fingerprint sensor also, gonna report if it works.
@Piciu256 Tell us how is it going, how will you connect and if it works.
Could you please share the links and how long will it take for it to arrive to your house.
I can share some ideas with you.
I bought my screen assembly on Dragon Tt site, it's the "oem glass+original LCD" one, the fingerprint reader is this one: s. aliexpress. com/jemyIrQN
Should be 2 weeks tops till the LCD comes, then I'm going to use a standard 2 piece epoxy to assemble the thing, then the b7000 glue to attach the assembly to the frame.
Gonna report again after the fact if it went well.
Interested in this as well, following this topic . Just busted up my screen, the buttons and fingerprint scanner don't or barely work anymore.
Can someone recommend a good replacement screen, or is the dragon-tt the best option?
Thanks
I'm replace LCD and bought new fingerprint sensor. New sensor replce with b7000 blue, but fingerprint doesn't work.
Anybody know how to resolve this problem?
The sensor is bad or the b7000 glue is not appropriate for this operation (why you no use 2 part epoxy as sudgested?) either way you are fckd- you cannot remove the sensor without destroying it, and you probably cannot clean the surface well enough without damaging the screen to install a new sensor so no fingerprint for you.
My screen came in today, I'll report in 2 days if all works. @edit the epoxy is curing atm, its great because its so sticky- you just need to locate it in the beginning and not touch it for few hours, it makes its magic by itself- no need to anker anything down
The sensor didn't work for me either, tho that might be a case of my phone not working properly as the previous one wasn't working either.
The screen is great quality, the digitizer sticks up a little more than original though.
If you want to try yourself- use epoxy, it seems perfect for this use, the sensor is 5$ so it doesn't cost you anything
ps. Do any of you also experience this weird glitch in chrome that when I type something longish then the app takes up to 1,6GB (I believe the system doesn't grant more) RAM and freezes? (this post was enough to freeze twice and crash)
Hey guys, someone replace fingerprint and works fine? I'll paste mine What do you use for this? epoxy is safe?
thanks
