Firstly an introduction:
I bought my phone on Thursday so i'm pretty much a noob at this phone, had a pair of android phones before this so i'm not totally inexperienced.
At first I rooted my phone and installed a custom recovery, with that i installed CM10. This was working fine until some random soft reboot, nothing weird because it is a nightly and not stable software. Anyhow i saw the sense jelly bean rom and wanted to have a go at that. The process of getting the new hboot caused me nearly all the soft bricks on the horizon. I solved all these softbricks through some very helpfull posts on this site.
Anyhow i decided I prefer a vanilla rom so much so I wanted to go back to the CM10 rom with the new HBOOT, also i used the Bricked boot.img . Now when i start my phone it gets stuck at the quietly brilliant screen, I know its stuck when the screen dims. Also i was stupid enough to make no backups. When I try the second post in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599748 it gets failed messages, could this be because of the new HBOOT?
Does any of you know how to get my phone working again? Your help is much appreciated!
I think if you have upgraded your Hboot and not made a backup of your previous rom, then you may have to stick with the JB rom you had.
reflash the boot.img via fastboot of the JB rom you have then reinstall the rom.zip via recovery and all should be good.
Can I never go back to CM10?
That worked btw thanks very much!

Also I think you can flash an ice cream sandwich custom Rom or nandroid back up, you just can't execute a ruu anymore as the updated hboot won't allow you.

You're pretty much stuck with the sense jb ROM's for now.
no one has successfully booted a aosp/cm10 rom on the new Hboot.
there are dev's working a way to get aosp and cm10 ROM's booted on the newest firmware

Nandroid backups arent just an annoyance, they're bloody necessary.
Try getting getting a stock image and ADB pushing it.
As of now, there is no way to downgrade hboot or revert back to ics rom after installing a jb sense rom. Now all you can do is wait.

But you can flash nandroid back ups and custom ics roms - just can't run ruus.

if you install cm10 and flash its boot.img it should work (could have bugs)
new hboot only affects RUU installers and stock roms/ota's released by htc
Summary: New Hboot = Sense+ ROMs or any custom ROM

I've been out the scene for a while.
I have a 4.0.4 Sense rom on it currently.
It was installed about october. What's the latest my phone can support? What do I want to be looking for?
As I understand my CID wont work with the Jelly Bean sense roms?
If you have unlocked your bootloader you can now install jelly bean roms.

I just flashed Revolution HD and I really like it.
Go look at the H3G Jelly Bean OTA thread a few posts down for instructions.
I had to flash firmware.zip twice in RUU mode (firmware.zip available in the H3G OTA thread - it updates your hboot to 1.36)
Then I installed TWRP recovery (using One_X_All-In-One_Kit_v2.2 available in the sticky at the top of this forum)
then used the recovery to wipe everything - flashed revolution
back to fastboot to flash boot.img out of the revolution rom - job done
If you need more detailed instructions just ask.

Do I need to do anything else? Also, kind of curious how it now works on all CIDs?

Flashed that one and when applying the update the progress bar goes to about half and then gives me a red triangle. Rebooted the phone and treid again serveral times and still gives me red triangles. Whats wrong?
Then your rom is not completely stock, or your kernel is not the stock one . Did you deleted system apps.....

The 3.14 backup for my CID is not clickable
Same thing happened to me. I flashed stock recovery and recovered SystemUI.odex and SystemUI.apk from a nandroid backup because I have batterymod. Basically everything needs to be reverted to stock.
Then download mine 2.17 stock nandroid ! Restore that including of flashing back the 2.17 stock recovery !!! Then update officially to JB again. And also to the 3.18 base if you want !
Thanks so much for your help! Done the first little application update on 4.0.4. Downloading update to 3.14 now. All went super smooth restoring your backup. ICS is a lag monster BTW haha.

Hi, Im really sick of my HOX. I have so many questions.
I had official stock rom in my HOX, but it have Wi-Fi issue - 3.18.401.1. So I badly decide to install custom rom, I didnt took a nandroid backup of the stock rom and the only one i took is rooted rom. Then I installed CM 10.1 and the wi-fi issue disapear, thats good, but it is very unoptimized for HOX - battery, USB cable, photos,... So I need to back to stock. Thats my story and I have many questions:¨
1)To go back to stock I need RUU or there is more options?¨
2)I cant use any RUU because I had installed the latest firmware. Can I change the version of firmware in my phone to use RUU?
3)Who depevelop RUUs? How can I officially get it? When they are going to release new version of RUU?
4)To go back to stock need I the same version of I had (3.18.401.1) or newer?
5)Can HTC (I can pay for it) flash me the original ROM, if I have voided the warranty?
Thank you for your responds. I m really nervous because I need it as soon as possible because I fly to the USA and I want to have reliable mobile device with WIFI. SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH

Thank you so much, i forgot one problem, When i restored the only one nandroid backup I have, it boots but touchscreen did not function. So can you suggest me how to back to stock ASAP.
HTC releases RUU's. Those are the official updates. Haven't seen an hBoot update for the HOX for awhile. It was a know issue that the 3.18 base has wifi issues. You can switch to any ROM with 3.19 base (most of them) and your wifi issues should clear up. Sense ROM's for me have always seemed to be less glitchy/more stable than non-sense.

1. Either a RUU or a nandroid backup. There are plenty of stock backups available on XDA.
2. No
3. HTC develops them. They are never official releases, they're leaked by HTC staff.
4. Same or newer.
5. I guess so but there are easier (and cheaper) ways of doing it.

Can you write me a link with instructions and nandroid backups of stock android.
RUU's are stock. Here is the link to the web page you want http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140308 . You need to find the right RUU for your phone depending on where it was manufactured at. You'll just have to read a bit to figure that out. HTC won't individually send you a RUU, you just have to download it.

The 3.18 and 1.29 are referring to two completely different things. You can update, forget about the 3.18 with RUU's. Put this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDMsIm9yZy50cml0b25zb2Z0LmNpZGdldHRlciJd on your phone and it will tell you your CID. Write this down or something. It should look like HTC_001, or something similar. Then you can go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140 and look for your CID and download and flash and you'll be back to stock.

Warranty depends on hardware issues or not. They know the bootloader was unlocked, because it says relocked and not locked again. So they might won't give warranty.
But please stay in one thread now !

No offence, but you really shouldn't have been doing any of this in the first place.
You clearly understand nothing about any of the processes your trying to do.
1- Go into Recovery (CWM) and Mount USB
2- Now From your PC create a folder in the root of the storage and call it "clockworkmod"
3- In the "clockworkmod" folder create another folder named "backup"
4- Extract the .zip file in that folder (do not change the name of the folder extracted cause it could give md5sum problems)(also the folder name must not have any space between words)
5- Before continuing on the phone, open that folder from the pc and copy the boot.img in the folder that you prefer
6- Reboot phone into Fastboot mode and flash the boot.img by typing
Code:
CWM NAND: fastboot flash boot path/to/boot.img
TWRP NAND: fastboot flash boot boot.emmc.win
7- Reboot the phone into Recovery again
8- Go to Backup & Restore> restore> and here choose the folder previously extracted, and that's it
FOLLOW THESE AND TELL US WHICH NUMBER YOU GET STUCK AT. FIND THE RIGHT NANDROID TO START WITH !!!
Thank you for all who really help me
I thank all so much for your patient with me! I successfully went back to stock!
OK So, I have a Verizon HTC One m7 running Android 4.4.2 and HTC Sense v 5.5. The phone is unlocked, S-Off'd, and rooted. Is it possible to update to 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 and Sense 6 without losing s-off and root? If so, what is the best way to do so? I've read that weaksauce, firewater, and other rooting programs do not work on the Verizon version of the m7 with the sense 6 update. I will not upgrade if it means losing control of my phone.
I know there are variations of this question on this forum. But I did not find one that answered the question explicitly for a Verizon m7 android 4.4.2 sense 5.5 s-off'd & rooted.
Thanks!
Taking the ota or using the decrypted ruu will not make you lose s-off and it will not lock the bootloader. Upgrade away and then reroot.

Hello,
I've been recently trying to install few times the Android Revolution HD 10.2 ROM however I always fail. Same happened with previous version.
After the ROM installs, i hit reboot and then nothing. It just freezes on the htc logo (with "developer" text) and nothing happens.
So my question is, what am I doing wrong?
I have no problems with installing ViperOne and all of the non-stock based ROMs.
I can't get S-OFF, so I hope it isn't neccessary
Please keep in mind that I'm pretty new at using HTC One m8, however I have experience with android.
If you have the HTC__001 cid or any which is WWE/ Europe you can and MUST flash the firmware.zip for 2.22.401.4 ...otherwise it won't boot or many things will be broken...all necessary things can be found in each Rom thread, how to flash things and what you need etc...Also which recovery do you use and did you flashed a few mods or so afterwards?

Ok, so I don't really know what this CID is. I've seen people talking about this but can't really tell what it is for. Is this some kind of ID a device, for which country it's meant?
You said "flash 2.22.401.4" firmware. Now I would have to find out how to do that (after I do that, will I be able to normally downgrade to 4.4.2 or will there be some problems?)
There's flashtool for Xperia's, Odin for Samsungs and is there a simillar software for HTC devices (I have something called All-In-One_Kit)?
I've seen also something like RUU, but I would need to fix fastboot, as it isn't working after fresh install of Windows.
My CID: HTC_032
Recovery: TWRP 2.7.1.0
Kernel: Unknown, the one that comes with ViperOne (Already tried flashing ARHD with elementaX kernel)
Current version of firmware: 1.54.401.5

RUU isn't going to help you with any of this (s-off, flashing firmware packages, etc.). Its just to restore to a stock image (ROM, radio, hboot, recovery).
I really recommend you get fastboot working. You need adb/fastboot to get s-off anyway.
Toolkits are only of limited use. They don't do anything you can't do manually with a few adb or fastboot commands. And many would say if you can't handle doing these things manually, you shouldn't be messing with the phone at all.

Yeah, I would need RUU to get to stock 4.4.3.
I can't get s-off, firewater isn't working with my phone, and I don't want to choose the paid method, as I will probably soon change this device anyway.

I see what you're saying: RUU to stock, OTA to 4.4.3 to get the firmware package, then unlock bootloader again, install custom recovery and install ARHD.
Exactly, or RUU already to 4.4.3 skipping the ota.

Are there any 4.4.3 RUUs? More importantly, is there a 4.4.3 RUU for your version?

There is no ruu just system dumps/ recovery flashable zip of stock Rom
---------- Post added at 06:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:28 PM ----------
Also there is no need of using a RUU... You can just download the stock Rom zip, flash back stock kernel and stock recovery...but only if that Rom matches your cid...If not you have to take a nandroid backup from Mr hofs collection thread...

Aaaand to get ota running there is no need for relocked boot loader it will still work

Yea okay that's right but as long as there isn't any ruu available we don't need to reliving if we aren't s-off

But I want to keep talking about imaginary RUUs
But really, fair enough.

Thank You, You gave me so much information I needed to know more about this device.
I've found a link like this but I can't find my cid
So for example flashing "CID HTC__001" file would brake my device?
P.S. I'm currious what would happen if I flashed wrong CID firmware. Could You tell me more about flashing wrong one. Would it work normally, had some issues, wouldn't boot or wouldn't I be even able to flash this?
EDIT: Hehe, the link I provided is Mr hofs thread. So what now, if my CID isn't there? Can I just use any version that is for Europe, like eg. germany?
EDIT 2: Flashed stock, deodexed ROM 4.4.3, but still no luck with ARHD

If you are now s-off just get super cid with fastboot oem writecid 1111111 I hope enough ones xD or just write a cid like HTC__001 ... If you have further questions write me a pm and we can talk over hangouts or pm here... easier to follow the progress
Ok, finally got it.
I had to flash "SkyDragon+M8+Sense+444+Kernel+V2.0.1".
Now it's testing time.
Let's see if this ROM is so good.
EDIT: There's nothing cool in this ROM
Going back to skydragon.
Yea arhd is like stock Rom and yea nothing special about it
Hahaha aww man, do you not read what each ROM does before installing it so you know beforehand what you're getting yourself into?
Nah, I didn't. I saw many people were using it so I thought it must be good, but it isn't (no special features).
However I wanted to learn how to make it work, and I must say that the htc is the weirdest phone I ever had. Flashing a rom can't be done logically, here nothing works as it should in theory

I often see people who aren't able to get arhd working...but I really don't know why..the normal cwm recovery doesn't work as it should...use instead twrp or Philz...both are working foo and with Philz backup and restore is working where in twrp most of the m8 are having problems :/ I really don't have problems to install a custom Rom.
I got the phone, tried it one day stock, wanted to get a custom Rom, unlocked boot loader flashed custom recovery and afterwards Rom and elementalx kernel...without problems.. few months later was able to do s-off with sunshine and after that most things where again easier
