Gs3 all share with Google play movies and notification led - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys,

Also on my gs3 I can't for the life of me turn off the notification led. Anyone else with that problem too? Thanks for your response.

Google Galaxy Nexus audio streaming interrupts / stops over WiFi.

Hi,
Does anyone else experience interrupts while streaming audio (Google Music, Tunein, Spotify and other online radiostreamers) over WiFi on the Galaxy Nexus when the screen locks? Even tried to enable the stream lower quality in those apps but it still gives me interrupts / stops.
Also when downloading larger games they take forever to download while the screen is off, from the moment I turn screen on again the download goes fast again.
I have no problems while streaming over edge/3G (even with screen off) and over WiFi when i prevent the screen from locking. 'Wi Fi sleep policy' is set to never. Tried several wireless routers (Belkin, Apple Time Capsule, Linksys) all gave the same problem. My Samsung Galaxy S doesn't have all those problems.
Is this a bug that can be fixed?
Hope someone can help out.
Kind Regards
tijru
PS: Sorry for my bad english
Have the same issue. A update is definitely in the works. Wifi never sleeps...never works!

I haven't had that issue, but on a slightly related topic, I would love for Google Music to support gapless playback. Maybe cache one or two of the next songs in the playlist or something. Might not be that simple, but it sucks listening to albums that have continuous music between tracks.
Hope it gets fixed because it's something really annoying. Makes my phone a bit useless for music streaming and that is something I use it for 70% of the time. Had some similar issues with my nexus s and that never got fixed .
Hope there is news about this soon because when it not gets fixed I still can send it back to the store and get a refund.
Does anyone know where to report bugs for the galaxy nexus?

Thanks for the replies.
Yep, mine does it too. I haven't heard if 4.0.3 addresses it.
4.04 does not fix too.
Using Ir11 Beta 2 IMM30B / 4.0.4: MoDaCo Custom ROM by Paul Obrien.
I've found an app that fix it https://market.android.com/details?id=org.wahtod.wififixer&hl=en.
Let me know if it work for you

Doesn't work for me. Streaming via CIFS on PowerAmp works fine until the screen goes off - then repeated stuttering noises and pauses. With or without WifiFixer.
My little Samsung T679 Exhibit II on Peach Sunrise v1.2a works fine as is.

Galaxy S3 screen freezes when playing Netflix through MHL on TV, sound still playing

Hey guys. I just got my MHL OEM adapter from Samsung and I discovered that Netflix video freezes but the sound still plays. If I move through the movie it starts back again but for only 1 second and it freezes again. Sound is still playing. Any idea?

Thanks for the reply. I am actually not even rooted. I am using Stock 4.0.4. The annoying thing is that no one seems to have the same issue. Also, every other application/video works with the adapter... it plays awesome videos through the video player, but Netflix gives me lots of trouble... Netflix was the reason to get the adapter in the first place...
Its not the lead is it? Maybe faulty?
I'm using netflix through my WDTV and on my S3 and having no issues - I am using UnoDNS to get the USA version though, so whether it is linked to their server being faster or something? UnoTelly has been working smashing but only tried it on free trial so far. Might be worth a try to see if it is linked to server or your ISP messing with stuff.

Connecting Note to TV (screen off while playing videos?)

Hi,
I have a Usb to HDMI cable so i can play videos from my galaxy note to the TV.
When connected, it just displays whatever is on the note screen onto the TV.
Is there a way when playing a video like this, that i can have the note screen locked/off without having it turn off on the TV? I want the video to come on the TV but not just be up on the samsung screen the whole time too if possible.
connect a Blue tooth keyboard or mouse for input...screen goes off...else use app.... screen standby root. ... from play store...

HDMI adapter to TV?

Hey guys
For you that are using this on your tv, which adapters are you using?
How well does it play 1080p HD mkv files over hdmi to your tv? I'm not sure how the resolution would work for this to a 1080p TV.
You can get a Samsung wired hdmi converter on ebay for about $10. Or the allshare wireless dongle for about $40 or $50. Keep in mind if you root the Allcast dongle will no longer work.

Two times no...
I use a rooted P605 and my Allcast Share Dongle works despite the system status Custom which did not work on my N8000.
I did yet find no wired adapter which works with the P605, either partial, intermittend or no display. And the Samsung store showd no official adapter.
Erstellt mit meinem Note 10.1 2014 LTE
This is the one I had bought previously for my Note 2, which also works on the G Note 14 as well....

Maybe the LTE version works...mine didn't I had to return and exchange it. Even flashing back to stock would not work after I tripped the flash counter

Has anyone tried playing 1080p movies via HDMI to the TV? How does it run? I'm wondering if the movies actually get played at 1080p?

I played 1080p game trailers and movie trailers using an HDMI connection. It plays whatever the source is. One thing to note though. Playing videos with any app other than the default video app does not fill the screen all the way. There will be borders on the sides and top/bottom. It's not horrendous but is noticeable. However if you play using the default video player this gets corrected somehow when being output to the tv.

Great! Just wondering, is there any lag at all when playing 1080p movies. I was watching some videos of the Nexus 10 doing it since its probably the most similar device to ours right now and the reviewer mentioned there is a bit of lag since it has to power the video on both screens. Unless there's a way to turn off the tablet and just let it use the TV as the screen.
Also does the default player support mkv? I don't have my note to test it out right now.
Just make sure to buy the 5 -> 11 pin MHL adapter if using a normal MHL adapter. Just like the Note 2, the standard 5 pin MHL adapter won't work.
Also, don't forget it has to be a powered MHL device.
I have to do the same thing for my GN2 on my Pioneer App Radio. Only I use an adapter.

For videos, you won't notice any lag since you're just watching the video. Not to mention, when using the stock video player app it detects that you're playing the video on a larger screen and shuts down the output on your tablet screen so it's only visible on your tv. For games though, you may perceive a little lag since you're actually controlling what happens on the screen.
I haven't tested playing mkv's on the stock video app on the tablet but I can confirm they play on my galaxy note II so they should work. The only thing is that the stock video app doesn't support all audio codecs so if your mkv file contains dts audio you'll probably run into issues as the stock app won't be able to decode.
Apps like Archos video player (along with the free codec pack) should work fine for playing everything.

The tablet screen stays on during hdmi out and if you turn off the screen it stops hdmi output. The reasoning is that when you turn the screen off you are turning off the digitizer, too. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to control the device during playback.

Fair enough. But if I want to have 2 hours of constant playback for a movie without having to pause or anything, is there any app that does turn off the screen while its playing other than the stock app? I don't want the same thing to be playing on 2 screens at once. The stock app was mentioned saying that it automatically does turn off the screen while playing back via HDMI, which is cool. Sadly it doesn't play the audio on some of my MKV files cause of the codec, but MX player does. I'm looking to replace my laptop with this if possible to connect to my TV to play movies, but it should hopefully work just as well as the laptop otherwise it isn't worth it. I wouldn't be connecting this to the TV for anything other than movies anyway.

There are a couple schools of thought. Unfortunately I do not know of any way to turn off the screen during playback. However, there are a couple of apps out there which turn off the backlight during HDMI playback. One of which I believe is called screen off which you can find on the Play Store. The other is called tasker which allows you to create a system trigger event task that will do X when Y happens. Some people have said they're able to have the backlight turn all the way down when HDMI out is detected.

Sorry, it doesn't turn the scrim off but it dims the screen quite a bit to where it's hard to tell it's on and does not actually show the video that's being played. I should've been more clear.

No apology needed. There are a lot of new members on the forums and they can be easily confused. I just thought it appropriate to clarify.

Music notification doesn't show

No matter the app my music notification doesn't show on my 360
I've tried Spotify, Samsung s6 music, and the play music apps
All 3 used to work on my first 360 but none of these notifications ever show on my replacement 360
Only thing I can think of is that the update that added the gestures did this as my first 360 never got it and my second got it like right out of the box
Any help would be appreciated

It was the main function I used on this smart watch, now it's pretty much a dumb watch. Too bad. I'll be looking for a fix, if not it will end up on eBay.
I only use Play Music and if I start it on my phone I get the card on my watch. I also can go start Play Music on my watch and it will give me the option to play from phone or watch and both of those show the card to control the music as well. I have been on 5.1.1 since the second day it went out.
