Hi all
hope this is the right place!!
my phone is an Orbit XDA original WM6-O2
I have just started to use a Virgin sim card on my orbit.
Have managed to set up voicemail - but am having problems accessing the voicemail number
the idea is, you dial 222 and set up the voicemail - from that point on you then just press and hold 1 and then go straight to voicemail. However, when I try this it just dials 222 again and goes to the set up again.
I have managed to access the correct voicemail number by dialing *#67# -( it sends you the voicemail number as a text)and have then put this number manually into the voicemail contact.
this is where i get a problem... when i access the voicemail number or even try to dial it manually, it comes back with someone saying "calls to this number are barred"
I have done all of this with another virgin sim in a sony-erriccson phone and it worked correctly - even if i try that sim in my orbit, the same thing happens... someone saying "calls to this number are barred"
I wonder if this has something to do with my orbit settings? It is loaded with the original WM6 rom from O2
any help would be much appreciated
tech support from virgin are "getting back to me" in the next few days... but I was hoping that someone on here may have some solutions etc
many thanks
tony
When I update my voicemail settings, or call forwarding, I get a "Unexpected response fron network" error message. I called my provider (Rogers) and said it appears to be correct on their system... However, it doesn't seem so because when people call me, they get forwarded to Google Voice... I already uninstalled Google Voice, and it was taken out already, however, it still forwards to there which is a USA number and I'm in Canada, so people who call me get forwarded to a long distance number and it bothers me and them so much...
Rogers told me to contact HTC but I want to hear your solutions first guys... BTW, I'm using the Virtuous ROM (which is almost entirely stock packages)
Help?

did you use the star codes to disable call forwarding?
What are the star code? Already forgot them... heh

I was getting the same error and this worked for my desire on orange:-

"Try sending ##21# which is the network code to cancel all forwarding."
Call Forwarding Problem
I have an unlocked AT&T Atrix on Orange UK running Gingerbread. As soon as you go and look at the Call Forwarding options the phone indicates that all calls are Forwarded and the Icon top left turns on, disabling 'Foward All' shows disabled for a few seconds then comes back with the 'Unexpected reponse from network' message, although calls are not actually Forwarded (can still receive calls). Old SIM card, but OK in old V3x phone. I tried with a '3' Network SIM and all works as expected, so definitely an Orange problem with Android/Atrix. I called Orange who sent some SIM updates one of which failed, called them again and they decided to send me a new SIM but this has made no difference at all.
Only way to reset the indicator and message once on, is to enter ##21# which does the job.
Just an annoying Network bug but interested if anyone knows how to get Orange (and I guess T-Mobile) to do anything about this as it seems from other research to affect several different phone makes and models.
Same issue
I'm Having the same issue on Rogers with my Xperia ion....still ahven't sorted it out
Any Resolution to this issue? I have what appears to be an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 Active from ATT and attempting to use my CRICKET SIM and I get this message.
i will try to explain this the best i can.
We have in the last week receieved two new handsets, a DesireHD and Desire Z, we have also signed up to Vodafones one net express.
one of the functions of One Net is to be able to show a virtual landline number when dialing out (youare given several viirtual numbers on the account) to show the number you have to use a code with # -- # (-- being the short code for the number) when i enter this i get an error message saying "invalid MMI code". Having spoken tothe one net team they inform me that Android phoens will not accept # codes or shortcodes, Has anybody found any type of work around to enable the use of # codes on Android or should they work.
Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Hmm on aosp here and just tried #31# and it says mmi code activated, and throws a popup telling me the service is disabled, so it seems to work fine here.
Thanks for the reply, what android version are you running- is it stock or Custom Rom, i am wondering if this could make a difference.

Stock Virgin HTC One V CDMA -rooted- ... Trying to enter a local contest by entering a text message and sending to 79640 - I get returned "You rec'd this msg because you sent a text to a number without the area code or used an invalid short code or you are blocked from using this service. Msg 2133"
Anyone else on Virgin not able to send like this?
Anyone know if Virgin has this ability blocked?
Short codes don't work on VM
Evidently Virgin doesn't allow you to dial anything shorter than a full number (area code + phone number).
I can't seem to place any calls from my phone I get this message.
Did you modify it?
