All,
I bought my note 2 in thailand, but live in australia and my phone was imported from an arabic country i assume as the booklets had a arabic variant.
Anyway, if samsung has releaed the update with mutitasking, why cant I get it?
You have to update. Check settings, about device and then update. The European one is out. My friend got his update last week.

use flash LJ1 manually using Odin.
UK version BTU
I have questions before doing the update...does flashing that UK update change the phone's region? does it reset the phone? and my note 2 is Hong kong version with bilingual keyboard built into the rom which i need to keep, will that be gone?

I'm not sure but changing rom will change the language included too. So I think you might have to given up your bilingual keyboard. If I were you just wait for the ota.

Hi, I just bought a galaxy note II for hong kong but the firmware installed on it is one from chinese origin --'
Is it possible for me to flash an european firmware on it? I have many apps that come in chinese, and this sucks ><
Please help.
Samfirmware and grab a firmware from your area its a international note 2 so your fine
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Like above said. Go to www.samfirmware.com, then go to "Firmwares and Files", choose Model and whichever country you want, and download it. Then, use Odin to flash it into your phone. Simple.
Your phone should be the international note 2. The model is "GT-7100 - Galaxy Note II".
Do you need to be rooted first before flashing a new ROM?
I am receiving a Chinese version tomorrow (UK), and was wandering if I could just change the CSC code and get get rid of anything that's in chinese language?
Thankyou

I have a Hong Kong Galaxy Note II, and I want to flash the official UK ROM on it.
I know the phone should work fine, however I want to know whether desktop Kies will recognise it as an official firmware and be able to receive future updates.
Basically, I want to convert a Hong Kong Galaxy Note II to a factory UK Galaxy Note II and be able to receive future updates through Kies as if it were a UK Note II.

No, Kies will not update your firmware if you have firmware installed that is not specificaly for your country/region. You have to do upgrades manualy with Odin.

Then you would have to change the product code, but why would you. Flashing a rom with Odin takes about 5 minutes mate, and is safer and better than Kies (wich is crappy software)

How can I change the product code to the UK unlocked version? The only reason I prefer Kies is so I can sell the phone at a later date on eBay without running into any problems, as it will be exactly the same as the UK version (if that makes sense)

Hello,
Could someone please enlighten me on what the difference is between the official INU and INS version firmwares that are available from Sammobile for India? I noticed the the INS version has 4.2.2 whereas the INU version seems to be still at 4.1.2 ... on Sammobile that is.
I had earlier upgraded to the Leaked 4.2.2, then the Official SER 4.2.2 then Balliboxer NextGenn and back to 4.2.2. SER and now have loaded the INS version of the 4.2.2 firmware through ODIN. All of these have worked fine with the usual published errors.
Somewhere along the line I had also rooted and then reflashed over root and KIES stopped upgrading my Grand. It shows (KOR) at the end of the Firmware Version and says on the line above it, that KIES cannot upgrade the device.
Last night I tried to reset the firmware back to the original state using KIES - it identified the device as an INU type, it loaded the firmware and then went into a boot loop. So then I restored the 4.2.2 INS official version and it is working fine, but KIES is still rejecting under the upgrade section and it still shows (KOR) at the end of the current firmware version.
So 3 questions ... as follows:
(1) Difference between the INU and INS versions of the India firmwares and
(2) How do I get KIES to upgrade the firmware on my device ... moving forward as I am now using the Official ROM.
Many thanks in advance and in anticipation of the valued responses from my senior forum members.
Ans.1 I also don't know
Ans.2 first install triangle away n reset counter and then flash official firmware of your region and after that go to stock recovery by pressing vol up+home+power button and wipe cache and do factory reset. . And then u r good to go.

There's a slight difference:
INU= India unbranded/unlocked

Maybe Service means it is for devices that come with a contract.

Don't know.
I do not know how it behaves with other countries. I have changed with the German A70 of the Telekom to the free firmware. For Vodafone there is still no new firmware. You could try the PHN software for Netherlands. But if it does not work you can not go back until Vodafone releases a newer firmware than the current one. Everything at your own risk. Just look at sammobile.

Don't expect regular monthly updates as the A series is only scheduled for quarterly updates
It came however in the free firmware without Branding already 2 new updates. while Vodafone and Telekom have not rolled out yet. In these updates, the camera and the fingerprint scanner has been improved.
You can load the firmware at Sammobile and flash with Odin.
However, at your own risk.
Somehow Samsung is strange anyway. There are newer firmware in India and Iraq than in Europe.

Wish I found out about this sooner. Just flashed my S20 (981W) to 981U and it seems to work great. Also as a bonus the disable shutter sound option now shows in the camera settings.

TMB is T-Mobile
ATE6 is the last four characters of the latest firmware ie (PDA: G988USQU1ATE6 CSC: G988UOYN1ATE6)
Home CSC is a flash option in ODIN to maintain your data instead of factory reset

Wish I found out about this sooner. Just flashed my S20 (981W) to 981U and it seems to work great. Also as a bonus the disable shutter sound option now shows in the camera settings.
I flashed the t-mobile (TMB) firmware using AP_G981UXXXX, BL_G981UXXXX, CP_G981UXXXX and HOME_CSC_OMC_OYN_G981UXXXX.

thank for your reply
Did you lose the Samsung Pay and some other functions etc by installing the G988U firmware vs the G988W?

I had to setup samsung pass again but it downloaded all my saved passes afterwards. Samsung pay seems to work with no errors. Same with samsung health.
Will this work with any SM-G988W (i.e. bought through a carrier)? I know in Canada all cell phones must be unlocked by law so I'm wondering if there is any difference vs one purchased directly through Samsung.
Update:
I pulled the trigger and loaded the T-Mobile ATE6 firmware on my Freedom Mobile purchased s20u phone with the home_csc option. As far as I can tell, everything is working as before (LTE, VoLTE, Wifi-calling).
Obviously YMMV, and make sure to backup beforehand.
Should work. All firmware is the same in Canada across all carriers from what I've seen.
https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-G988W
For the above link all carriers show G988WVLS1ATD3 having the same build date and md5 checksum (8955d9a2845891fe5c8b646b3835cddf) when you click on one of the links.

It stresses me out a bit.
I want this ate6 update for the camera.
On the other topic of G988U and U1, he mentions that you have to flash with the version U1 ATE4 TMB first and then the ATE6 of U TMB
did you do that or did you go directly from g988wvls1atd3 to TMB ATE6U ??
with the HOME_CSC_OMC_OYN_G988UOYN1ATE6 without the userdata_tmb?
thank you

Finally, more fear than harm.
I did the update directly at TMB ATE6 with the Home CSC
without any loss of information and I am now with g988u summer with the last function of the camera.
It remains to do tests
Thanks everyone!

Not sure what g988u summer and all that means, but you can flash directly with ATE6 and Home CSC if you want to keep your existing data, no problem at all.
thank u

you can unlock bl on 9880 so it can be flashed.. whether it works or not i dunno
You folks should know that running a U or U1 fw in Canada makes you miss out on some carrier related features because the U and U1 are for USA. So LTE bands might be missing, WiFi calling, spam detection, Volte, etc...some or all of those features will be missing.
