That should work. I have used Mobile ODIN to flash back and forth between recoveries. You can find ODIN flashable files here.

CWM installed, but missing

The phone is with stock rom + root. Installed Rom Manager, then CWM.
CWM version is 5.5.0.0 and it is showing:
Current recovery: ClockworkMod 6.0.1.9
But when I select Reboot into recovery = Stock Android recovery appears.
If I shut it down and enter manually = again stock recovery.
Why?

I wanted to use ROM Manager and CWM, too, but was told only TWRP is the only recovery that works and not to even try installing CWM. It doesn't work with Samsung devices.

I read the problem is that stock Samsung roms always restore stock recovery and in order to make CWM work you have to delete the stock recovery file.
Q. I flashed CWM but each time I reboot the Stock Recovery is back
There is an auto recovery restore system on Android that will reflash the Stock Recovery if you flash CWM on a Stock Rom.
Use Root Explorer to Mount the system folder as R/W (or use a free app from the Market). Delete the file recovery-from-boot.p from /system. Now when you flash CWM Recovery it will NOT be overwritten after a reboot. You can also use the Toolkit to rename the files if you wish.

[Q] SD Card not working

guyz i need a small help
i'm on dmb6 stock with root using cfroot and stock recovery
my 32gb sdcard is not working and i want to try card partitioning using cwm
how can i install cwm recovery for five minutes and revert back to stock recovery without losing any data and with flash counter 0
in note1 i used to have a cwm that i can run it temporarily from zip withen stock recovery
can this be done
plz link to actual download file instead of threads because i get lost in different builds available
You have to flash CWM or PhilZ recovery and then you flash CF Auto Root kernel but your counter will raise. (but no lost data).
PhilZ: http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=16053#files
Latest version v5.06.1. Use .tar file to flash via Odin
CWM to be flashed via Odin: https://hotfile.com/dl/176065007/332cffb/cwm6-recovery-n7100-121014.tar.html

you can always flash the stock kernel again, and you can use triangle-away from the playstore to restore your count to 0

Flash Recovery

I am trying to get 6.0.4.7 recovery on my note 8 so I can flash with a 4.4.4 Nightly ROM but this is in a ZIP file and can only be flashed in recovery
What can I flash first using ODIN so I can then go into that recovery and flash with 6.0.4.7
Cheers for your help

Go HERE, head to the Odin folder and download the tar file. Flash in Odin, boot into recovery and then flash your zip.

how to switch from TWRP 2.6.3.3 to Philz 6.48.4?

hey guys im on omega rom and i have twrp recovery and want to change to philz recovery?
how to do this?
Download the recovery zip that's for your phone and flash it in TWRP, rebooting into recovery should take you to Philz

Simply take hold of latest Philz recovery (tar file) and flash it via ODIN 3.09. Done.

If you are using custom rom, then simply download rom extract boot.img and place it on desktop, open odin and flash twrp in odin, after that reboot to recovery and put extracted boot.img in your phone, after that just flash it on boot partition! If stock then download latest firmware and flash it on odin!
