Hi everyone, i was wondering if there was an app that can record the screen of the Galaxy Nexus (or the Nexus 7)? I know about screencast, but that only works on GB and below because of some changes that Google made to how Android draws and loads the screen in ICS+ (or something like that). Ive tried a bunch of programs on my PC that display the screen in a window, but they all run at like 2-3 FPS, and im trying to take a gameplay video so that wont work. I also know theres some sort of MHL/HDMI card that you can get for PCs to record it, but those are way too expensive. Im rooted (on both devices) so if there is a way to do it that requires root im ok with that. Thanks

Tryed to install the app from this thred http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793 .
The app seems working and alow me to do video call. The only problem is that from the phone I can see who is on the other side while not possible the other way round. Seems that the rear camera is disabled. Anyone else having this issue? olved Somehow?
PS. I know it's weird to use the rear camera, so please is useless to remember this.
Problem fixed. Needed to install googleservicesframwork.apk . Now everything is working better than expected.
Hey man, did you use the googleservicesframwork.apk from the very same thread?
I updated it using this file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233682 and it sort of works fine, only thing is that my camera is still not transmitting to the other side, they see black screen. I see them fantastic, sound is great as well.
Can you point out what version of files you installed?
Thanks in advance
Update: It works when my girl video calls me from xperia mini, by "it works" I mean it works with known limitations, and that is 10s lag on my video, I see her real time. It didn't show video on pc, but it is not an issue for me, audio works great though, and that is what I need.
Desire Z video calls...SOLVED? (".)
I wonder is there any apps out there that are able to switch the hardware internally, and point it to external webcam.
What I'm trying to get at is using remote desktop on laptop at same time as phone being used as the webcam? Would this not solve the issue at hand.
So I would suggest the following steps...
Install remote web desktop app on dz > Launch browser on laptop/pc/Spare desire Z (hey they're discont'd after all!) > point phone and go !!
Let me know if this is solved for you (".) Smiley face (".)
First off, my Incredible 2 is rooted but it does not have a custom ROM on it. I rooted it so I could mess with the power usage and other things so I don't have to charge it nearly as much.
Now then, I believe the thread title says it all: I used to be able to stream videos from my phone's browser... now I can't. It instead tries to download all files I click Play on, which is very annoying. I've tried with both the default browser and with Firefox - both do the same thing.
Does anyone know what's going on? Can someone help me find a solution or workaround? I don't want to fill up my SD card with videos that I want to watch while slightly bored at work on break.
Thanks!
Bumping this once before I let it die
Hello! I am having a really annoying problem with youtube (the website m.youtube.com not the app) on my Nexus 7 2013. Basically, the problem is that it takes FOREVER to load a video. Now, I may not have the fastest internet connection in the world (far from it actually), but I can easily load a 720p video on my laptop in 5 - 7 seconds. Now on my nexus 7, the EXACT same video at 720p takes 23 - 24 seconds to load! I could turn off hd and cut about half off of that time, but then it looks like a mosaic of pixels -_- I really don't get this, as mobile youtube was always way faster than on the desktop for me. However, ever since they updated the UI (to look more like the desktop) it is so slow. I love youtube and watch it every day, so this is a big problem for me. If someone could help me, I would be really grateful! Thanks!

Same, happens on my Nexus 7 but not on my Note 3 even though they run on the same WiFi network.
I am not sure what is causing this
I'm lucky if I can watch a video that doesn't 1: stutter or buffer 2: lockup part way through the video and 3: lockup my N7.
Sometimes clearing the cache in the app helps but most of the time it doesn't.

I know right? Don't even get me started on trying to rewind or fast forward...it sometimes crashes my tablet so bad I have to hard reset. I wonder if it has something to do with flash? On my old kindle fire with a custom ROM and flash I have no problems. N7 doesn't have flash. Wonder if there is a relationship.
Just use the Viral app instead if YouTube! It loads real 720p faster than the sub par HD option in the original app. It also has allot of other improvements like background playback and popup play.
It never crashes for me, but buffers a lot. None of the other devices (Asus tablet, laptop, mobile) have this problem.
Hello, I've been a member for a while and I can usually figure problems out on my own just by searching, but this is something I haven't seen anything on after some pretty extensive searching (unless I'm just searching wrong). When I try playing most videos, they play as normal, but all the colors are green. There is also a pink color, but it is stretched and doesn't seem to line up with the green portion of the video (which looks to have the proper ratio). This happens in the YouTube app, when I'm screen mirroring on my TV, and in YouTube via Chrome (but only when not in full screen).
Does anybody have experience with this or know why this might be happening? The videos were working before I installed this rom, and it's not this way for all videos, just most of them. Again, these are standard YouTube videos that I have no trouble playing on my computer or TV, and some videos will even display properly on my phone while I'm screen mirroring, but will be green/pink on the TV simultaneously.
I've also attached some pictures so you can see what I mean, since I'm not quite sure how to describe it.
Is this a known issue? Is there a fix for it?
EDIT: I've done some more searching around and found some people that have had similar issues, but on PC and not Android. It seems their fix is to disable hardware acceleration, but I don't see anything like that anywhere in the settings. Should I install a new kernel? Could that be part of the problem?
Edit2: I'm going to try flashing a new rom tonight to see if anything changes, will edit with any updates.
Flashed SlimKit yesterday, videos work like a charm now. Seems there may have been an issue with either the ROM or kernel I was using before. Mods, feel free to close/delete this.
Hi all
I primarly use this tablet strapped to the seat of my car for my young daughter to play kids programs on it while driving.
for playback i use VLC.
the issue is after a few episodes of peppa pig the audio becomes out of sync.
this happens with anything i play weather its just one long video or multiple playing after eachother at a certain point it becomes out of sync and only seems to get worse.
it does not take long i have noticed i put a Elmo dvd on (about 50mins) and less than half way through its completely out of sync.
I am currently rooted i honestly cant remember if im on a custom ROM or not i just would like to ask...(i dont have the tablet with me atm to check)
- Does anyone know what Stock OS does not have this issue? (i'd be happy to downgrade and loose root if it fixes)
*if i remember correctly im on stock 6.0.1 rooted*
- Or a custom ROM that does not have this problem
Update
I was on 5.1.1 rooted..
Flashed 6.0.1 latest and problem has gone
