I just ordered a stock battery for $3.99 from ebay link. Looks real but maybe just a good looking fake, thought I would share with you guys anyway. What do you guys think?
It say's "Unbranded/Generic". Most of the time, if it's too good to be true.. then it is. The consensus with cheap generic batteries on ebay is that they work great for a few weeks, then the capacity quickly goes down. For the price, let us know how it works!
Shipping from Hong Kong/China, guaranteed to always be a fake. Stick to buying from sellers who ship from within the USA.
Yeah I noticed the unbranded generic but that's just the eBay description and some people don't fill that field out. They did say the item pictured is accurate or something like that so I figured why not. The battery that came with my phone was a finished in China battery so I know they make them there and I've been buying stuff from China or Hong Kong for over 10 years with mostly good luck. Either way for that price if it works I'm good with it.
well i contacted a bunch of em about those batteries
and few chose to say generic other said copies
but was impressed ( despite knowing ) that none claimed its original.
they are dirt cheap if can last for 3 or 4 months with reasonable backup then no harm .
otherwise try and search for andida slim 2300 battery
heard good things about it - provided you get a genuine andida and not a fake.
all the best.

Did you get them? Does it work well? What kind of battery life are you getting out of them? Better than stock?
Yes I ordered last week when I posted this thread but it has not arrived yet. The seller marked shipped the next day but stuff from China usually takes 2 weeks to arrive. I will take some comparison pics with my stock battery when it arrives then post some results after a few cycles of use.
It came in today, definitely a fake. They did a terrible job applying the sticker too. See attached pics knockoff battery on left, stock on right
Put in phone and working fine so far. Came charged to 66% like other batteries I bought in the past. Will update again after using a few times.
Initial run not bad from 66 down to 2% 2hr 43min screen time and 8+ hours uptime. This is exactly what I would expect from my stock battery. I'm charging now in my external charger and I will run a few days and see where it goes. Hopefully the initial cycle was not a fluke.
After a few runs this is a decent battery. The life span seems to be just less than my stock battery and it does not run hot or anything. I suspect its just a generic 1800mah battery. I wonder why they felt it necessary to use the fake labeling?
Is the battery still working good? I just ordered one on ebay.. My battery looks like it's about to burst. The back cover won't even go on right lol.
Yeah its been in rotation for a few weeks now and no issues yet. It still seems to get slightly less battery life than stock. No complaints for $4. You may want to replace that bulging battery sooner though. This one shipped fast but still took about 10 days to arrive.

I think it started swelling because of my friends horrible charger. I crashed at his house and was forced to charge my phone on his charger. It looked so cheap and felt really light but it was charging. I woke up the next day and my phone was dead. I powered it on and it was 15 percent battery and the screen blinked then died.
Ever since then I have had nothing but problems with the battery.. so that has to be the culprit .
It's been 8 days so far and it said it just arrived in CHICAGO, IL. I'll be on my n7 until it arives!

I was wondering how many people got these on sale(12 bucks on amazon) and what results they got.
Ive had mine through a couple charge cycles now and im not impressed at all, doesnt feel like its doubled my battery life.
Im at 80% after 2 hours, with only 16 minutes of screen on time. This might actually be worse than stock. The battery summary doesnt show any major drain from apps, and go launchers running app list doesnt show anything out of the ordinary either.
Im running Faux 0.9/Juggernaut 4.1/Litening theme
Im not sure what else I can do, battery is draining ridiculously fat.
It could be just be a defective one. Some custom roms dont recognize the batter stats properly as well. Try exchanging the battery for a new one and also try a different rom. Also try Wipe Battery Stats in clockworkmod recovery.

Hmm, thats kinda scary, would reflashing a rom from scratch fix that?
Also, google has stated wiping stats does nothing, thats a recent development.
As for exchanging, its from amazon, it took 3 weeks to ship this one to me lol.
It might be defective, it did take 9 hours to charge. 3500/650 should be ~ 5.3 hours, but maybe this is why it was on sale for 12 bucks.
Yes, the myth was that wiping battery stats improves the overall battery life but I was not saying this in hopes of improving it. I was just saying to see if it will correctly display how much battery life you have on your rom because one time I had a problem where my battery life stayed at 100% and after wiping it it correctly displayed how much I had left.
If it takes 9 hours to charge then I think its very likely that you do have a defective one. Rechargeble batteries tend to show that kind of symptom when you charge it often without letting it drain first. Try completely draining your battery below 10% and fully charge without stopping (dont pull the plug). If the battery life is still the same and it still takes around 9 hours to charge then I think its safe to say you do you have a defective one.
Also, please double check that the particular battery that you have is compatible with SGS2 Hercules model. Look at the battery information and compare it to the stock one. Make sure the voltages match.
I flashed Mr X's kernel, since Faux has been off since 0.07 for me.
When i charged it last night, it was from 0%, and it took around 3 hours to reach 34%, so im estimating the 9 hours based on that.
The stickers on it say 'Replacement for Hercules T989' Li-Ion 3.7v, i dont have my stock battery atm so i cant see if its the same, ill check that later.
I find it faster to charge using the usb plug converter instead of off the laptop using the usb cable. If I were you, I'd just use the stock battery until the new one ships in. I believe that's your best bet.
I may not even seek a replacement. It was 12 bucks, shipping would cost half the cost of the battery, and it would take them 3-4 weeks to ship another. The original order took 3.5 weeks to be delivered.

I was about to say this. You more or less likely got a fake Chinese battery that claims it's "..." mAh, but in reality it's significantly less. I've seen this happen too many times on the EVO 3D forums.

I was excited to get this battery thinking that it would atleast give me one and half times more backup than the original. However, the backup i'm getting is not any better than the original battery. I will see for a couple of more days and if it is still same, i'll move back to the original battery and keep this one as back up. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Most cheaper priced batteries out there engage in false advertising. Don't believe the mah numbers you see even if they are the same as the stock oem battery. Its cheap for a reason just like the fake micro sd/flash drives for sale at Ebay. There are also shady vendors in Amazon who pump up their own ratings by leaving positive reviews especially the "ProdiCell" cell phone battery brand. With the exception of Seido and Muge, I would only stick with Samsung oem batteries. The Samsung Nexus extended oem 2100 mah battery is really good for $24.99 (50% off 49.99 at the Verizon store). I do see the extra 14% life. I went 34 hours the other day on stock 2.3.6 before my phone died. I actually ran 30mins of video at the end to run out the charge.
Ill try this out with synergy, since faux i heard was a drainer, and if no luck ill stick my stock battery in and continue to use my ballistic case. Ill also give it one more day.
Never tried an alternative battery till this one, and if im gonna go bulky again ill get that 3900 mah mugen, since that appears to be the real deal.

What is the biggest battery I can get for the Sprint GNex that can stay in the stock battery cover???
I think only the original battery will stay with the stock cover. I have the official extended battery and the increase in thickness isn't really noticeable. I personally feel that it makes the device more uniform.
the biggest battery you can get with stock battery cover is 1750 mAH
I have the sprint version which comes with an 1850mah
You all are false, I have the Anker 2200mAh battery and it uses OEM battery door, as well as requires no modification what so ever. Here. You will lose NFC however.
Here is the samsung version for the GSM version which includes NFC capability!!! check it out here
I have a GSM Nexus for my daily (other one is for work) and I use this Mugen battery. Yeah it's pricey but I had eBay bucks collecting I practically go it for free. I really think it works better than the OEM Samsung battery. I can usually get easily 2 days running Franco's 217 JB kernel OC'd to 1512 or w/e it is.
I found this http://www.amazon.com/Ecell-FEIPUSI-2200MAH-CAPACITY-BATTERY/dp/B0086KT4SA
I don't know if it will work with my sprint GNex though???

I'd agree with xreflection. Make sure it clearly states it's for the exact model of your phone. Also, I've never heard of Ecell, nor have I ever seen a thread about an Ecell battery, therefore I'm sure it's not really a 2200mAh battery, just something rebadged as a 2200mAh battery.
I would stick to OEM, Anker, Mugen, Hyperion, Qcell and Galileo. I've had nothing but fantastic results from those companies in the past. Can anyone else add any reliable battery manufactures they've had positive results with?
I would be weary of the mAH claims of various unknown-brand batteries. The capacity of a lithium ion cells is in direct proportion to size. So if one battery is claiming to be the same dimensions as another but has an extra 200mAH then something is up. All of the batteries use the same technology so there is no magic here. Other than what little they can do on the circuit board. It mostly comes down to the fact that most people can't measure the actual capacity of the cell.
I trust the samsung extended battery and it actually improves the feel of the phone. I think that's about the best you can do.
Oherwise you're looking at really increasing the size of the phone and that's down to your personal taste. For my hands I actually prefer the bigger phone and enjoy charging it every three days with the 3800mAH whale battery.

Yeah, I know. I only saw one review on Amazon and I couldn't really tell if it was real or not. But, hey for a price of $12.80 why not take a chance? Hey, if the battery explodes I will make sure to have T-Mobile phone insurance and hopefully a warranty with the phone! With my HTC Evo 4G, I bought all my batteries from eBay first but then after I discovered some overheating issues I started buying batteries from Gorillagadgets.com. Its a shame they don't have any accessories for the Gnex. With my Evo though I got as much as 3 days out of one charge with a 3500mah battery and the perfect rom and kernel combo. Hopefully I'll be able to have at least 1 1/2 with Jelly Bean. We will see tomorrow.

Hey, just a quick update! I received my phone as well as my Onite battery today (hoping it wasn't going to explode!) and I haven't even opened up the OEM battery yet! I popped in my sim and battery immediately and began setting it up. I'd say the battery was at about 55% (if I remember correctly, around there) when I received it at 5:30 and it just died about 15-20 minutes ago so it lasted around 5-5 1/2 hours (of heavy usage mind you, I was playing with it the entire time, I think I put it down once) and I hadn't even charged it yet! With my experience with extended batteries I know its good to cycle them first and let them die the whole way, then charge them up the entire way a few times to get 'em warmed up so thats what I'm doing now. I'll update again tomorrow when I use it for an entire day.

I just got my Galaxy Nexus yesterday and was also looking at an extended battery. I'm not keen on anything exploding so I'm a bit wear and looking forward to hearing about your experience.
Do you have any images of what your phone looks like with the Onite battery + cover attached?
Hey. Yeah it will be hard to determine until next week what the battery really does in regular use, because I just got my wisdom teeth removed so I'm just running on WiFi all day. I've been running it non stop since around 10 and its at 77% now so we'll see. As for the picture tbh it can't do it justice. The phone is already thin and light enough and the battery (imho) makes it feel better in my hands and adds virtually no excess weight.

Hi all
Does anyone know where i can find a legit replacement battery for my phone. I look at amazon and they either look too cheap or have terrible reviews. Where can i get official batteries for about 20 pounds or less. I live in the UK.
Thanks
"Craftmann" makes not bad batteries. Check this.
Do you have a link? I heard that only the oem battery was recommended.
I bought it directly from Samsung. There was a review on a german site, which showed that 12 out of 12 batteries from amazon were faked ones.

i just replaced my battery with the oem one although i bought it for like 9€ from a local shop.
although it lasts a bit longer, when it gets to around 30% then its no more stable and it will possible have the the usual behaviour we all know dropping instantly to 20-10% in minutes etc...
anyways....is there something we have to do when we replace a battery? Are there and battery stats or something that we have to reset or tickle so that Android will "learn" the new installed battery is in place?

Not looking for extreme capacities and stuff, but one that you have tested and behaves just like or close to when we all had the original battery that came with the phone.
Someone recommended the Deji battery but there is no way on earth i can find somewhere else than this Turkish shop
I have been on TechOrbits battery bought at Amazon.com for about two weeks now and am satisfied with it. They have warranty, so if the battery bloats (which happened to the previous eBay knock-off in just one year) I could get it replaced.

i would really go down and get this one
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/39677-of...-1900mah-standard-battery-Reviews.htm#reviews
judging by so many positive comments i think its the safest bet so far, so many fakes....i bought one for 8€ and it sucks badly.its getting close to the performance my 3year old official battery had.
Having lost my original battery and having to rely on a cheap ebay battery I thought I'd try mobilefun. THey shipped immediately, battery arrived in what looked like official Samsung packaging. So far so good, battery lasts much longer than my cheap ebay option and probably longer than my original battery but I dont have any stats to back that up. Battery discharge is slow and steady unlike the cheap ebay option which I've found tends to drop off a cliff when it drops below 15%. I can confirm that NFC works as well. Still early days but the signs look promising.
There are genuine Samsung batteries on eBay, the best bet is listings that include a photo of the packaging. A seller that is closer to home is preferred as well (if your home is not China or Hong Kong, anyway).

I have the same behavior as well with my 1900 mA battery although I bought it from an official store for around 27 USD.
This behavior appeared only few months after purchase.
Now the battery charges in 2 hours and 5 minutes and lasts for 6 or 7 hours only (normal usage).

Hi guys, has anybody of you tried changing their N5's battery? If you did, where did you get the replacement?
My N5 has been showing signs of severe battery degradation. It's easily discharged. I'm finding myself charging it two to three times a day. Even on standby, it discharges a lot even there's no wakelocks I'm seeing from betterbatterystats app. Its been a year since I bought our N5 so I guess it's time to replace its battery.
I'm seeing some batteries from eBay but would like to know from where you get yours and how's the quality compared to the original default one.
Thanks.
I would also like to know that, as mine discharges pretty quickly as well.

Im looking for a oem battery but made atlease in the last 5months,I've seen some around a year old,
Currently looking at polarcell batteries, haven't seen any bad reviews, possibly more capacity and german made

has anyone tested this polarcell battery? reading the description looks promising but would be nice to hear impressions from someone who has tried it.

Well i went ahead and ordered it already. Waiting for it to arrive could be here any day now. I don't have any problem with my current battery now but I'm hoping the extra capacity would give me more freedom because sometimes I'm away from home and don't have access to a charger. Also it's German brand and I'm hoping it turns out good [emoji6]
Have u test it? Can u say if is good or not? Thx in advance

Thanks for the recommendations/links guys. But since those have high postage, I bought instead from eBay which has free postage to my place. It also includes the repair kit.

Hope I don't mess up the procedure replacing it when the time comes.

Just to update on my purchase, got it and installed since Feb. Been two months and I can say that it is as good as the original.
Only had slight problem prying open the back cover of my N5 during the process of replacement due to my clumsiness?. Got two small cracks now on the sides of my N5, near the volume area and power button area.

I'll definitely share my impressions when it arrives, I'm starting to get a bit concerned right now as it's been more than 3 weeks since I've ordered it and it still isn't here yet. Usually shipments inside Europe are completed within a week. Also I've noticed a very strange thing, the listed price for the polarcell battery for Nexus 5 is $140+ now, i purchased it for $25 bucks and it's crazy how the price jumped this much!!! All other plarcell batteries for other phones are around the same price as the one i purchased, only the nexus 5 one is listed $140+ [emoji15].

I saw that too... Pretty bummed that I missed my chance..
I think my battery is kaput. It charges really quick - something like 3-5% per minute, but also discharges much faster than usual. And often the bar will show 60% and the next second it drops straight to 0% and the battery is dead.
I've re e factory resetting the phone and the problem is still there. I can barely can 2 hours of SOT now so I'm going to get a new battery and install it myself.
I know there are a couple of threads on battery replacement here already but I wanted to know if anyone knows a source where I can get good quality battery or even a nexus 5 OEM battery. I have trouble trusting these sellers on eBay unless someone can link me to one that is reputable. The average price I see on eBay is about $10 which is quite cheap. Some of them are obviously fake and cheap looking but some look like it could be the real thing. Any help on where to get a replacement from?
Thanks.
I am having the same issue with mine. I bought a replacement in amazon. Battery should be here soon will follow up if it solved the issue. My dad has a nexus 4 with the same issues as well. So he bought a replacement after I told him about my issue.

An Ebay seller I have used and got nothing but original parts from at a great price is usmobileparts (I use to fix and flip phones.). Very reliable seller very fast shipping and packaging is perfect. I used that person many times over ones that were a tiny bit less in price because they were awesome.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately the price is a lot higher as well - $116 for just a battery.

Maybe give this one a shot. It's on Amazon for $19.99. This one isn't shipped from China or some random seller, so there is less risk of fakes or dealing with return problems. It's not directly from Amazon, but it's fulfilled by Amazon. So if you have any problems, you basically have full Amazon coverage and can just return/replace it very easily.
