[Q] MMuzzy's Oct 5 ROM aborts with a symlink error - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have been using MMuzzy's ROMs on my Verizon Galaxy Nexux with no problems since June. I usually install with Rom Manager. The latest 10/5/12 version is failing with a symlink error.
I can recover by going back to the 9/24 version.
any advice on how to get the latest (10/5)

URGENT! Help Needed - phone may be bricked, not sure what to do

Hello everyone,
I have a Desire HD (Telus) rooted with Android Revolution 5.2.6 installed and 4ext recovery mod.
Overnight my phone locked up and then after popping the battery I could get maybe 30 seconds of use before it would crawl to a halt and lock up again.
I decided to try to wipe the phone and reinstall. Except all of the processes don't complete now. I'll either get (Error 1) or (Error 255) when trying to use the SuperWipe, install the ROM or use the "Wipe all partitions" option.
Right now it's in the 4ext recovery mod and since I've tried all of the wipe options is it safe to try to reboot (back into recovery) or have I wiped 4ext off as well? I have googled this and can't find an answer.
I've noticed that there is a new version of 4ext available (I have 4.1.3 RC2) but apparently the only way to update is via the app store - which obviously I can't do right now.
When trying to format system partition the screen goes blank for a few minutes and eventually returns to the main menu with no info other than a bunch of "E: Can't mount /cache/recovery" messages. The partition list shows system/data/cache as ext4 with only "iB" in the free column.
I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone offer some suggestions?
Here are some recovery log snips:

Error formatting /system!
I can "doggedly" recover from this error my just keep formatting the /system partition and eventually it completes successfully.
I don't seem to get any operational errors when using my phone and my OS appears to be stable.
This only occurs when attempting to restore a previous backup and the restore fails on the /system partition when attempting to format it.
Manually formatting the /system partition also fails..but can successfully complete after a few attempts. (fingers crossed)
I have seen this 'type' of error reported in the XPERIA U/P/Sola forum too.
Is it possible (I have root access) to run fdisk on the /system partition and if so.. what do I need to do to do that.
And what are the risks?
Thanks for any advice.
[UPDATE]
Additional information that may alleviate my panic ... a bit. Found this in "Advanced Stock ICS Kernel for Xperia S" ROM
Build 14 :
New MMC driver (from codeaurora) : it fixes issue while formatting partitions in CWM

HTC One M8 Flashing Rom - set_perm: some changes failed

Hello,
I am trying to flash a new one onto my new HTC one 2014 Verizon. I grabbed the Viper and Revolution Roms, got S-Off, and TWRP installed however once TWRP seemed like I (or it) cleared the system partition some how without a stock backup (It said 0MB when checking the partitions).
Anyway, continued on my way to flashing...Well, heres some logs... ~.~

I did search prior to posting, most of the 'solutions' was just to try try again from the beginning. Didn't have that option as at the time I did not have a backup.
But I was able to find one made form unofficial cwm before I switched to TWRP, and started all over.
Looks like it may be fine now.
Thanks!

I had this problem too when I was using M8 TWRP. Verizon variant is named M8_WLV. Using the M8_WLV TWRP I had no issues. XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717928 Hope that helps.
Similar issue on HTC One m8 GPE, no fix yet
I have similar issue when flashing ROM on my HTC One m8 GPE from play store.
I have unlocked bootloader & s-off and installed TWRP 2.7.0.2
I tried to install ViperOne and Revolution HD (choosing HTC One m8 International variant) many times, and every time the end of the ROM flashing process is symlink: some symlinks failed.
And when I reboot, I got a bootloop into recovery.
I also tried using different custom recovery like CWM and even verizon version of TWRP, but nothing worked.
I've searched back and forth, and don't see to find solutions here.

Your log file looked similar to mine and I tried everything to get these ROM's to install. I had been trying to install the ROM from the SD card and I had nothing else to try so figured I would copy to the internal SD and give it a shot and that fixed the issues and the ROM installed no problem. Hope this solves your install issue too. Thanks
I am having the same issue on my HTC one m8 verizon version. Trying to flash Android Revolution HD... I've tried having it on internal memory and external and I've made sure I have the right TWRP installed. Every time the install finishes it says set_perm: some changes failed and twrp crashes. Any other ideas?
In case it's helpful for someone, here's a log file. I also read in another thread that someone had success if they wiped /system before trying to install. I'll see if that helps soon.

EDIT:
Wiping /system before flashing the rom was a success! No hitches at all, and had it up and running. However, since it's a verizon device, apparently the firmware isn't out yet. Because of this I had no wifi and really long boot times. I'm gonna flash back to stock until the firmware is released with the next verizon software update. Happy flashing everyone!
The solution that worked for me
I was struggling with this issue while trying to install several ROMs. The reason I was getting this is because I was starting with a GPE phone and was trying to install ROMs that we based on HTC's Sense build (Viper, ARHD, etc...)
The reason is that the partition sizes are different between GPE and stock HTC. I believe that you will encounter the same issue if you installed the GPE RUU on your phone and are trying to revert.
I followed the instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733523 which required me to flash the firmware from what I had back to an HTC version (after this step I got the HTC logo upon restart instead of the google logo) Flashing this firmware must set the partition sizes to the appropriate values because after this I was able to install the Viper ROM without issue.

Me Too
My Nexus 7 [2013] is not updating to KTU84L from KOT49H. The downloader complains that there is not enough space in /cache. The download is 77MB in size, my cache partition is 35M. I have over 10G of free space in /data and /sdcard. I think the download tool is broken.

Can't update to MMB29Q with stock rooted ROM

Hello,
On my Nexus 7 2013 WiFi I'm running the stock MMB29O build (6.0.1) with root and custom recovery. I'm trying to install the MMB29Q OTA update but, as soon as I try to install it in TWRP, I get this message:

OTA is currently impossible on a modified system. You can do this https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
