[Q] Need help - getting stuck on boot after TI restore - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

My phone keeps getting stuck on the samsung boot screen after restoring with TI.
I used the LI3 ROM and AIO modem zips here, everything went fine until after I used TI to get my apps and date back. After I reboot, I get stuck. I've tried using both XML and snapshot to restore with TI.
I have also tried letting google play restore all my apps (before I stopped it and went right to TI).
That didn't work either. Also, if I don't restart I keep getting temp freezes with an error message - "unfortunately, logsprovider has stopped"
Any ideas?

If anyone else is looking for a solution to a similar problem, this is how I solved it.
Restored to a nandroid on LIF from before I tried all this. Used TI to backup sms only, so I wouldn't lose a weeks worth of messages (you could do more but I didn't care about anything else that wasn't synced to gmail anyway.) Restored to a nandroid on LG8. Made a TI backup for everything except the sms. Full wipe and flash to LI3. Used TI restore, no problems.
There must have been some system data from the LIF TI backup that didn't agree with LI3.
freeza suggested another route. You could try restoring user apps and data only from TI then doing system data 1 by one until you found the screwed up one. Luckily I had two recent nandroids but if you don't, or there is enough data you don't want to lose that the longer version is worth it, you might want to give that a try.

Force close in apps after titanium backup

So I made a nand backup of my Fresh rom, did a titanium backup of everything then wiped my phone and installed the DC rom. I used titanium backup to then try to get all of my original settings back. Handcent loads up and got restored with all of the settings I had before, but when I press a conversation it loads up and I can see it but I immediately get a force close for the handcent app. It did, however, work fine right after I reinstalled it and before I performed the titanium backup. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but can't get it to work... Any ideas?
On another note, I cannot get my nand backup of the Fresh rom I have working. I wipe the dalvik and wipe the data and then restore the nand backup but it gets stuck on the fresh loading screen and loops... no clue why that happens either.
im just taking a guess here, but do you think it could have anything to do with app2sd? Not sure if this would cause the issue or not, but it might be something to look into if an answer doesnt come along

[Q] Restoring apps after flashing ROM

Usual disclaimer... I tried searching, I really did. I found one thread about restoring apps that confirms I followed what should be done, but I had something I didn't want happen... happen.
I flashed my first custom ROM the other day, and it went pretty much as planned/hoped with a couple of glitches. I did the latest stable Cyanogen (6.0.2), and had a couple of the problems that other people did... the email app didn't work (found the cure (new apk) on cyanogen's forum) and I couldn't send/receive MMS.
The cure I found for the latter was to wipe data/cache, which I did through clockworkmod recovery.
When I initially installed cyanogen, I signed into my google account, used Ti Backup to reinstall all my apps, and then activated the phone (*228) . Worked great, everything loaded.
When I wiped data/cache, after rebooting, I signed into my google account (just like before)... and before i could start restoring with Ti, my apps started downloading from the market. Took much longer than a Ti restore, and it missed Tasker (which I bought directly from the developer... and for some reason was not in my Ti backup).
So what happened with the second restore? should I have stopped all the downloads and restored with Ti?
I've since done a full apps+data backup with Ti backup that includes tasker (I have no idea why it wasn't included, it should have been, and I've since backup up profiles from within the app as well)... but am confused about not just repeating and the same thing happening with the restore.
Any suggestions?

Phone Freezing up badly

I've been using my phone for quite some time now, Flashing ROMs and all sorts of stuff but one day while i was running on a Darkside ICS (4.0.3) Rom when all of a sudden all of my messages were randomly deleted without my notification and GoSMS was unable to act. I immediately took out my battery and rebooted.Upon doing so i noticed all of my messages were still gone so i just opened Titanium Back Up and then Restored my messages. Shortly after doing that GoSMS froze again(Even the original Messaging App) and all my messages were deleted again.I decided to go back to a older ROM (Paradox II 2.3.6) and went there and restored all my apps and messages..Guess what?Another problem. The Phone and Contacts stopped worked every time i attempted to use it. So after messing with other ROMS(Even Jamieson's JB ROM) i just said screw it and went back to Stock and rooted again. And i once again downloaded my Titanium Backup, Restored Apps, and then Restored Messages and after my messages finished restoring and i attempted to send a messages..GoSMS froze up and forced me to Pull the battery..And it's just been freezing up badly after this. At the moment i did a Darkside Super Cache wipe and is hoping for the best.If this dosen't work then can anyone give me some Help? These Messages and Picture messages are valuable to me and i really wish to keep them..Help?
And now i cannot even attempt to make calls or send a message. It just dosn't go through at all. .

I will definitely tell you it's in you app data...wipe all data to factory fresh and replace apps without data...and do not restore any system apps!i know it's a pain to redo settings but try that...

Oh and the best way to restore is to make a nandroid backup every few days so that way of something happen that would over write everything

From my experiences restoring TI backup apps/data from one version of android to another like ICS to JB, GB to ICS just ends up in total fail in so many ways. Bouncing back and forth like that it's just best to restore with NO data and re-configure the apps which shouldn't take long anyway.. At least a shorter amount of time than banging your head on the desk wondering why your apps keep crashing

[Q] Can't run Nandroid backup

Ok forgive me, I'm fairly new to all of this...
So I have the SGH-i317m (Telus version) of the Note II. I rooted it many months ago and everything went great. The other day I decided that I wanted to flash the Jelly Beans rom for it. So I ran a Nanadroid backup of the original rom, then used Titanium Backup to backup my apps. Everything went fine with that. So then I rebooted in recovery and did a data wipe/factory reset and also wiped the partition cache, then flashed the rom. Again everything went smoothly.
Here's where my "newb" side comes to play. After I restored my apps, everything backed up fine other than some of my contacts, text message logs, and call logs. I assume this is because I used the wrong backup setting in Titanium Backup? I think I should have used "Backup all user apps + system data", but instead I used "Backup all user apps" (can anyone verify this?)
So anyways, I went to restore the backup so I could retrieve all of this info. Again I wiped data/factory reset and wiped the cache before running the backup (which was a zip on the external sd card). Almost immediately I received a message saying "error while restoring /system!"
So I did some reading and found a thread saying that it didn't work because the nandroid backup can only backup the original rom. So I reflashed the stock firmware (again doing the full wipe), and that didn't work either giving me a message saying "can't open "file name" (bad). Installation aborted".
Can you guys give me a hand? When I try flashing the Jelly Beans rom (also I've flashed the Clean rom as well), they both work fine. I just get troubles trying to run my backup or installing the stock firmware.
Sorry for the length, I just wanted to make sure I provided as many of the details as I could. Thanks!
First yous should Never backup/restore system apps/data. It is a sure way to cause FC.
Second if you want to backup SMS/MMS hit menu on Titanium Backup and scroll down to Backup data to xml. If you don't care about MMS download SMS Backup & Restore from the market (free) as the backup/restore process will be a lot quicker.
What recovery are you using? There apps that let you explore the Backups and retrieve some information. In fact even Titanium Backup PRO restores certain items from nandroids so it's worth checking out.

I was having an issue restoring the system partition. Data was failing, but running system alone I saw it said:
Can't read: misc/audit/audit/audit/audit/audit/audit/audit...
That went on forever.
It never skipped it, was just stuck trying to read the folder it was in.
Any ideas what could cause this?
I went back to stock so it's not pressing, but I don't want to do it again
Killed one of my backups.
I'm using TWRP 2.6.1.0
Backup had been successful. Restoring it would seem ok until phone reset/shut off. Then would hang on boot.
I got curious and tried restoring partitions individually to see what would happen.
Data always failed and system did that infinite directory thing.
If anyone's got any ideas what I should avoid doing so I don't mess up another backup, I'd appreciate it
The data partition is usually your photos, music, and movies. You should move all that stuff to your external sd card before you make a nandroid. Some versions of custom recoveries have a limit on the size of the backup, so if you have a lot of media in there, it will cause a nandroid to fail.
Jibust I just used the recovery that is already on the phone by pressing volume up/power/home at the same time. You said that there are apps that will retrieve information from my backups? Is this my only option? There is no way to run my backup now? It seems strange that I can't run it in the first place. It seems like it should be a fairly straight forward process. If there is no way to run my full backup, can you give me more details on how to use these apps to pull info from the backups?
Thank you

Take a look at the apps in this search, https://play.google.com/store/search?q=nandroid I have used the Nandroid Manager app, I haven't tried the other ones. Just make sure to read the description as not all of the apps will be able to explore/restore from all types of backups. Warning: I have never tried this, only seen people use it, some of the apps have xda threads so I suggest you take a look.
Also, as mentioned Titanium Backup Pro (at least I use the Pro version) has a feature to restore selected data from the nandroid backup. I have tried it and it works, so maybe you only need to use TB and don't have to purchase another app.
Edit: tried to restore apps from a nandroid using TB and had a FC, so you might want to try one of the other apps.
Nandroid Manager
I have used Nandroid Manager to recover individual apps + data - worth a try. Although people report mixed results.

Nandroid Backup problem with CM11 Unified

Ever since installing the "Unified" CM11 for the S3 I've noticed a strange side effect with nandroid backups.
I can back up and restore just fine, however, no matter what, I don't get a full restore. it seems like the system restores, but a good bit of data does not.
As in, I'm missing most apps and all of my data. Prior to this, a nandroid was a nice snapshot of the phone when the backup occurred, as you'd expect. Now, if I do a full wipe and restore, SMS is gone, Wifi access points are gone, and most of my apps aren't there. And trying to restore them with either Titanium or CWM fails.
I had to reinstall from Play Store and then restore the app data after. Not an ideal situation.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is anyone willing to give it a whirl and confirm the issue?
Thanks
anyone?
