Just got off the phone with samsung, apparantley their miracast feature has only been enabled on the international version. Is there a chance we can get the feature ported here? It uses WiFi Direct and functions exactly like all share cast
Anyone thinks they can tackle this?

It's basically all share cast, so it mirrors your phone's screen to whatever the dongle is plugged into. The benefits of using it through miracast would be not having to use one dongle for a phone and another for say, a tablet once they're miracast certified, and WiDi which has been around.

Any update to this? I'm VERY interested. I'm using Wicked's V.7 and i can't get my screen duplicated using the dongle. VERY frustrating!
If i can find the apk i can prolly remove the device verification.. does anyone have it/know where to find it?

I just posted about that in Q&A I can't get my dongle to work either after the jelly bean update. Not sure if it is because I am rooted or the jelly bean update broke the function for everyone. I know after the JB update every time I reboot my phone my flash counter is back to 1 even after using triangle away... not sure if that is the cause it not, but yes, it sucks. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah, I've always use Wicked's ROM and I've never been able to get it to work. I can connect to the dongle but it won't duplicate my display. I'm at a loss.

I uninstalled Wifi tether and used the built in hotspot. Worked fine after a reboot.

The built-in tethering works fine for me. I guess since Verizon hasn't touched this ROM the hotspot works as Google intended.

Same question here because I will use it but I don't want to be charged for it and I have never tried using it in the past so I don't know if you get prompted or not if you use it.

You have to sign up for hot spot to be able to use it. If you haven't added this to plan, it won't work. Therefore, its free.

I have tried using the built in hotspot, and my iPod seems to connect to it (puts a check mark), but it never gets the signal bars in the status bar, and doesn't actually gets internet.
I have also tried the newest version of wifi tether, beta 14 from their website, but it won't even show up as a network using that.
Does anyone know of a way to get wifi tether to work on jelly bean?
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean via Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
The built in Wi-Fi hotspot works well for me. JB v3 with Franco 217. 4G on with WPA2 security to Windows 7 on my MacBook. All sorts of things running unintended software, and it all works like a charm. =)
Edit: VZW Galaxy Nexus
Edit2: I don't pay for tethering, but it shouldn't matter, as I'm data-capped either way.

Hmm, maybe it's an issue with the rom I am on, or the kernel it has. I am running on vanir v5, and it has a 3.0.31 popcorn kernel.

The leak is already on XDA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782744
Sextape posted it a few days ago. It's ICS with searched nerfed and updated radios and kernel from what he could tell.
Hey sprint, we already have this, get to something useful :<

I don't think this is an epic fail at all. It seems like there is a 26 day turn around time from testing to roll-out. If anything remains consistent, I'm hoping we see jelly bean sometime mid august.

I wouldn't mind Sprint tv support. Is that just a modification to the kernel? If so, is that kernel available anywhere without returning to stock?

I ripped out the boot.img for anon9mousz which from what he was asking is the kernel. We'll just have to wait and see.

The leaked version is FG01, its the exact same file they'll start pushing out. Using it with ODIN would be the same. That said, some people just want to wait for an ota, and that's OK too.

Never a good idea to accept an ota when rooted and rom'd. This is especially true if your ROM is JB and you accept an ICS ota. It is still fresh in the community's hands but rest assured anything of value from this small update will be integrated into community ROMS.

Yea im against owning/using a pc. I threw mine out the window n bought a iMac along time ago. So I'm guessing Odin doesn't work for me. Maybe try the fast boot way once the official radio is ripped from the update. Definitely still want my search bar.

The official radio was posted on July 16 out of the FG01 by Sextape. Initially he didn't want to release the full FG01 so he just did the radio, but after a few days changed his mind and released the whole enchilada. So, if you head to that link you can grab just the radio if that is all you're interested in.
no one should be including radios in roms.
and there was a cwm flashable zip of the radios made teh day they leaked
Is there any advantage to flashing that radio? I'm on the jellin Rom, with fd02 radio.

I tried to update with the ota on my rooted stock. It became too much of a fight, so I went with cleanrom 3.5. Has everything, no need to wipe, no loss of apps or data, keeps me on stock kernel and tw. I recommend that route over banging your head against the wall.

using the 4.3 leak from designgears...and i can't get wifi tether to work. used to use the wifi-tether treve mod and pre 4.3 that worked great.
no matter what configuration/version i try...when i try to pop up the hotspot...what happens is that it'll start up with "errors" and to check the "log". but the logfile can't be found and is "missing"...and the hotspot is not up and it cannot be found...
anyone get any type of wifi tethering to work...and if so, how?
thanks!
