I read plenty of comments about deep sleep and people only wasting 2 percent better life over extended periods. However my phone doesn't do this. When I check cpuspy, it does say that it's time is spent in deep sleep but it still waste a sizeable amount. How can I make sure that it enters that energy saving state? And could apps be waking the phone on its own?

it depends on your setup. yes, apps wake the phone on their own. anything that works in the background can wake your phone, f you have lots of apps with notifications especially.
Would weather interfere with that? I'm running cna and have it on my lock screen. I take it refreshing automatically could do that? Also Google location services?

yes, even widgets that automatically update.
Apps that needs to automatically refresh usually has wake lock. Including built in weather widget

So deactivation of weather, Google, and taking off Facebook and Twitter refresh intervals should solve that?

only uninstalling facebook will help, itll run in the background even if no notifications are set or even if never used. use the browser for facebook, its as good as the app. facebook is a known bad app.

Something keeps waking my phone and turning the screen on.
I have cm10 nightly, juice defender and tasker running but I cannot figure what is waking the phone, when it does there are no incoming messages or emails, no notifications etc.
Is there a log I can check?
Thanks in hope DC

Seems it is the way I have CallMaster configured in Tasker. I think when it wakesit actually goes to the foreground, I have tasker set that if I have an app in the foreground it kills the screen gaurd and sleep.....Thus the screen comes on. Taken CallMaster out of the script and hey presto, no screen wake
Thanks for the help
Bought the batterystat app as it really helped me.
Out of curiosity why are you running juice defender and tasker? Seems redundant when you could achieve what juice defender does with tasker.
Had jd for a long time, not finished programming (or fully understanding tasker) yet, but yep I will be binning jd (its in desperate need of an update is jd).
Been trying to find a good Tasker - JD Profile I can use as a starting base.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Understandable...if you're looking for info on tasker just google "tasker google group" the dev has a group page with all kinds of good info.
Thanks, seen that group, some good info in it.
Shame there are no websites (not the wiki) with profiles that can be downloaded.

Agreed. That would be extremely helpful especially for anyone getting started.
ur phone get waked when it think to be under charge..even the cable is not plugged
check if that the case..when the phone wake u should see the battery charging animation..is it?
if that the case, that a common problem caused by the usb port of ur phone..search around for ghost usb charge
Thanks for the suggestion, no there is no ghost charge, it was an app waking the phone due to my tasker setting.
All sorted now

Hey I found his nice app for displaying missed called, email and text message notifications on the lock screen somewhat like the iphone. It's setup as a live wall paper to show notifications in the background, that way you don't need to change our your original lockscreen.

I had major lag with this. Might need a 4.2 update before it runs right. Great app tho.

Same here. Too much lag to use.
Trying to figure out how to make the widget show on the main screen (under the clock) like in your image. Can't see a setting that does it... anyone else figure that out?

I've noticed that the phone wakes up a lot during the day and it's starting to affect better life. is there a way to check what wakes up the phone?

Are you running stock? Rom? Do you have any app notifications set to "wake" the phone. Also, try ES Task Manager and see what is running when the phone wakes up.

I am stock deodexed lk8 rooted. all notifications should wake the phone (waking is when the software starts processing, not necessarily when the screen turns on)

It shouldn't...unless you allow lots of stuff to run in the background. What is issuing partial wakelocks on your device? Things like Sprint Connections Optimizer, and network-based location will bleed you dry in useless partial wakelocks.
Even leaving data sync-age on, wifi on, GPS on shouldn't unless you're phone is constantly getting email/text notification pings.
It was working before the md4 update. I could delete from the pull down curtain. Now all I get is the notification without the delete /reply options. I have tried all different settings without success. I even uninstalled gmail, deleted data and cashe, reinstalled. No dice. I really liked to be able to delete without going to the app....

if there are any other notifications in the pulldown (including one's that can't be swiped away) the option doesn't show up... I stopped using ds battery saver for this reason

It's not lookout, it's gmail, if there is already any kind of notification on there it doesn't give the expanded delete reply option...:thumbup::thumbup:

Again, it's not a lookout problem, is a gmail problem.. nothing lookout can do to fix this, it would have to be coded into the gmail app to allow it to display these options when there is other notifications
Sent from my ANTHRAX sniffing GS3
I think the gmail notification has two modes: minimized and full (with buttons).
The notification only shows the buttons when it's the "top" notification. Apps like lookout have persistent notifications, so the gmail notification is never top dog and therefore doesn't go into "full" mode.
I know in 4.2.2, the method I described allows you to expand minimized notifications. I do a medium-length press and hold, then drag the notification down to expand it. I'll try to capture a video of what I mean (never captured video on my phone before).

Everytime I unlock my note 2 the location icon comes up literatly every time, If I lock the device and then unlock it 10 seconds later its there, I can understand doing it if it was 15 mins or so.
Would this be an app doing this or is it just a samsung thing? Is there a way to tell or does everyones phone do this?

this is not samsung thing, I faced the same thing with some weather apps
I only have two weather apps, BBC and notification weather bother are set as 2 and 4 hours refresh time. Any other clues or apps I can find out using this?

Most likely an app and unless I do a lot of digging (I can't remember the apps name) I would shut off GPS unless needed... Essentials there is an app that can observe your wake lock behaviors and determine what the culprit is (I.e. which app is causing the GPS to trigger).. No one can really help you figure out a solution without knowing this info either... Do some research and see if you can't figure it out as I will in spare time try my best to point you in a better direction

Thank you for the honesty I have had a look at some apps and most weather have hour refresh rates. I thoght automate it could of been it but force closed it and it isn't that app either. Dont know why so many apps are allowed access to this stuff when they don't need it.

I do read them but unless you want the app what can you do? Heck if I read them I would only proberbly have one or two apps installed as all apps ask for loads of permissions they don't need at all that's what I meant.
Anyway found the app, sense v2 flip clock thought it looked the best out of all the look alikes. Gone back to beautiful widgets now and ain't had the location thing back yet. Strange because there is an option to update upon unlocking and I had unticked that so I guess it ignores your preferences.
