hmm that's a little to much for a thin case like That.tpu should be fine.

some quick pictures that i took. let me know if there are any specific pictures you want.
the last two are pictures with and without the case. the sides of the case do come above the screen a little bit so that if you place the phone face down the screen isnt touching the surface. i used a tpu case before which i liked but i personally prefer the feeling of this case.

So for what it is worth... I bought one when they first came out, and I liked it but didn't use it a lot because it is on the slippery side... Well anyway I started to use it the other week and noticed that a crack has developed from what I assume was my removing the case a number of times. I never dropped my phone (well at least with this case) so it wasn't that.
Now it has been like 4+ months since I bought it and I can't even get a replacement. The warrant is only good for 90 days.
You have been warned.

yeah I got this case and literally the first time I put it on it cracked right where the volume rockers are, it is a very thin piece of plastic there. So, if you get this phone be careful.

That's crazy, I too just noticed a cracked forming on mine on the upper left corner. I never dropped mine either, but I think it may be from me removing the phone in and out of the case when my phone would freeze between flashing different roms.
The crack is so far cosmetic and would probably get a replacement too, but I can't find my receipt. I might just go back to just Ghost Armor all around if I can't find anything.

I had one and the plastic above the volume rocker broke on day 2 when i went to put a new battery in.

Already tried that, it didn't work.. only way was pulling the battery.

I just bought one and still says 3 left.

I bought one just now too.

I have had a white one on mine for over a month now and havent had any problems with it. I push out on the lower right when Im removing the case, that way there arent any thin pieces getting stressed.

Mine has cracked in the upper left also. Probably a bad design. Thought about putting some super glue on it. Kind of a bit bummed, because other then that, I really like this case.

Have it also and its broke in all of the thin spots... but I still continue to use it and it has protected my phone through many drops... all in all I love it!

these cases look good but thats it they do not protect the phone from the smallest of drops. bought it when it first came out dropped it and had to make an insurance claim end of story

Is the S3 sensitive to shock (turns off very easily)

I just noticed that a slight bump will cause my S3 to turn off. Its not even that hard. Something has to be wrong with it. I am looking at the unit now with the battery removed. The gold contact pins all look to be even with each other and all take the same amount of force to depress. The battery contacts are clean, the battery itself is in almost perfect shape, not swollen at all and fits like a glove when inside.
I think I'm going to try and tape it in to prevent it from moving, because this is ridiculous its so easy to turn it off with a bump to the side...

I have my S3 in one of those gray cases from TMO and I am constantly tossing it on the the table, couch and my bed. I have never encountered the problem you speak of. If you are still within your 14 day grace period I would return it. If not you have a 1 yr warranty from Sammy.

Yeah... A toss onto carpeted floor didn't do anything.

Do you have a case on, in particular a TPU case?
My wife has a cheap(ish) TPU case on her S3, which is always my preferred case material but I've noticed the fit is kind of tight. Since the power button sticks out a bit, i think that this causes her power button to be way over sensitive and will cause occasional inadvertent power downs.

Bring it back to the store you bought it at and have them warranty exchange it.

The rep actually does say that it is sensitive to shock, and it's normal for that to happen. I thought it was the same thing til they told me that.

i've dropped mine multiple times with a TPU case... easily from 3-4 ft high onto solid hard floors. No reboots yet, get a replacement before your window disappears.

Not normal at all. Get a replacement.

2 things:
#1-- I have the OEM flip cover case. I got that with the phone. Why did it come with that instead of the stock battery cover, see #2.
#2-- I got it on Craigslist. Almost new condition, damn near perfect actually. Its been fine even since. So that being said, no warranty (right?).

I love this thing!

Dropped my phone [new] from about 3 feet.

Dropped phone from about 2.5-3.5 feet, screen cracked halfway down left side, spiderwebbed, no response and sides bulging, picked it up and threw it at the wall because I was in a heated argument ...
Last words?
When you buy this phone, get a case. There were no cases available when i bought phone, went to radio shack a month later after their 'we have every case for every phone' commercial, they had no case for this phone, was going to get one later today at the sprint kiosk... not anymore. Goodbye Optimus G ;(

That really sucks man. Sorry to hear it.
Drop results are very hit and miss with this phone it seems. Most people seem to have very good results, but when it breaks, the danged thing BREAKS. Hope you had insurance or some other measure to get a new one soon.

I wouldn't throw this phone even if somebody paid me money to buy 2 of them afterwards. Glad I don't rage like that.

Bought an Otterbox Commuter from Amazon the day I got my phone. Dropped it tons of times, still good as new.

Drop is when you "drop" something and it is pulled by the gravitation.
Throw is when you use force to push something at something.
When you "drop" something 3-4 feet, it will have about the same impact, considering equivalent weight. The resulting impact is affected by only the weight, the distance and the gravitational force. 3-4 feet drop will have a similar impact when using similar weight.
When you throw something, the distance is affecting the impact in a lot lesser matter. The main item affecting the impact is then the force in which it was thrown, so saying your phone is broken “because” of a 3-4 feet drop is a misdirection. The thing that broke your phone is the force you applied when you threw it.
All that to say, get a stress ball dude!

Oh! My bad!!
He dropped then thew it because he was mad he dropped it!

Super easy $60 fix if you want to keep the phone. I just did my sisters in like 10 minutes, just watch the youtube video for it.

If you choose not to fix what would you want for your rear camera. I want to look into getting the 13mp camera to work with at&t but the camera is hard to come by

I would also buy parts as I am in need of the volume buttons. I would buy the motherboard as well. You can even sell the camera if you want. Or if you like donate me the parts? Haha I could really use them.

Didn't drop my phone at all but in my front pocket playing music it suddenly started wigging out. When I pulled my phone out of my pocket, it was the only thing in my pocket, it was cracked! WTF....
Heading to Sprint store to get a replacement!
I did notice when I got the phone that in the bottom left, close to the back button, there was a small indent in the screen. The crack started right there. Also my back button has always been a little flaky.

Dropped mine last night on concrete and got lucky, it just scratched the bottom right corner of the casing. This is a tough little phone. Lol

dropped mine the first day before I bought a case. Luckily it was only 2 feet and onto a wooden floor. Just chipped the chrome ring a little. Bought an otterbox the next day!

Love my otterbox... Not sure why but i've fling'd / dropped this phone more than any other i've had but it's working perfectly still. One drop was bad enough the otterbox cracked around where the charging port was.
Emailed otterbox. Got a brand new replacement in a week!

Any one have a volume pgb ribbon ...when I replace the screen the ribbon got kink pretty bad.. an does not work any more has any one had this problem....??

Since I've seen people post here saying their screen has cracked without dropping their phones, I thought I'd start a poll to get an idea of how common this is percentage wise.

Even dropped it once.
No cracks here.
Purchased since release day via website. Had it overnighted.

If you actually go through various threads and search about screens cracked without dropping, you'd get an idea on how high this percentage is... besides, it'd be nearly impossible to get everyone here to vote anyway.

It only takes a few seconds to respond. Over time, it should give me an idea.

I can imagine how a phone could crack (inner LCD) without ever dropping it or bumping it.
Simply put it in your tight jeans and sit down. There you go. That's what most of you do.
Moral of the story, don't wear tight jeans, because the screen will FLEX and cause the crack.

Wrong. I haven't worn a pair of jeans since my short stint at trauth dairy back in fall 2006.

I feel like I'm missing something. I dropped my phone from my pocket to hardwood floors and it was fine. Then it was dropped from a dining table to a tile floor and it was fine. I was surprised to see no damage done without a case. Hopefully I won't ever drop it again though. I bought this phone since day one BTW

My screen didn't crack but my bezel did, I have my replacement one already got it yesterday the T-Mobile rep did me a warranty exchange, I'm still using my normal one until I get a case for the new one. If this is for screen cracks only sorry, but I didn't like how I had the phone for a wk and the bezel cracked out of nowhere.

Typically they consider that physical damage and charge a fee on exchange.

In that case with damage you need to file a claim and pay a deductible then you get one from insurance.

Mine is doing great. I dropped it a few times already. First time with a crappy case that only covered the sides not the top or bottom and a couple times in my otterbox commuter.

same here
beside only having 9 gigs of usable internal storage, the phone has been perfect

I install car audio as a job and I always have my phone in my pocket. I tend to lean on it often with a lot of weight and when I realize it, I check my phone right away. Still haven't experienced any cracks (knock on wood). I'm using a case-mate tough case, if that helps.

Dropped twice now, no cracks yet. I thank my tech21 case.

I would say that a vast majority of people with cracked screens are doing something that they are not being totally honest about...
Probably putting a lot of pressure on it in tight clothes, bumping it against a hard surface...etc etc.
I don't doubt that some may have bad luck and some sort of rare defect...but it is far from the norm.
These devices don't just spontaneously crack. Mines in my pocket all day.... no screen protector and a very slim case.... 100% perfect still.
You guys with cracked screens simply have to be more careful with your $700 toys.

My Note 2 got bent???

I know this might sound wired but ya the title says it all!!!
I woke up in the morning i felt that the note is slightly bent as in its raised on the left hand side of the phone!!
I have a bad habit of keeping the note 2 next to me while sleeping so i must've rolled on top of it last night!!
Is it possible for it to happen in the first place???
Or may be keeping in my pocket of tight pants and riding the bike can do that to my note 2??
I'm shocked!! Its been hardly 15 days since i bought it!!

well this seems impossible as though the phone make is plastic it cant bent if you have rolled on top as the mattress is soft enough to protect the impact or rather it could have broken due to body pressure and to the contrary i have been carrying the phone in my jeans riding my bike to for the last 3 months and no issues whatsoever.

Im taking pic with different cams but that slight bent is not visible in those pics so thats why wasnt responding buddy!! anyways I ll try something in order to show my note

N2 is a big phone, I carry mine in my pocket too, but I try to keep it safe from bending. Its a fact that its easy to bend such a big and long phone but riding a bicycle and bending it is a bit weird, we are waiting for pictures and further posting from you. And if thats true, try to use your warranty and get a new one? You might get lucky!

I've seen videos of product testing for the GN2, and one test involved twisting the phone. It always returned to its original shape, and the twist was quite severe. You'd need a lot of force to bend this phone beyond the yield point and I'm not sure you can reach it by rolling over it on a bed. Check the battery, if you haven't already, maybe it's defective, bulging out and bending the phone in the process.
I've also carried my phone in different pockets on my bike since I got it, 1-2 months after it came out. I even fell on it once when my front wheel slipped on a patch of ice. There is a slight ripple in the glass now, only noticeable at a sharp angle, but I don't know if it's from my fall or just a manufacturing issue. Either way, I'm quite impressed with the phone's durability. If falling ass-first on it on the hard icy pavement didn't break it, I'm sure rolling over it in bed wouldn't either. I'd check it thoroughly to be certain that they couldn't blame me for damaging it and send it to warranty.

It doesn't make sense because the front panel which basically made of hardened glass shouldn't bend. If anything any stress beyond its limit will end up breaking it. Anyways, try getting a clear shot otherwise people will have a hard time believing you.

Exactly.
I would think that the only way to bend a glass panel would be to use an extreme amount of heat, like a torch. You would have to heat up the glass until glows red, and then bend the it. I just googled "how to bend glass" and here is a link for anyone interested, http://m.wikihow.com/Bend-Glass
You could possibly flex it, but it should snap right back into its original shape. Besides, the rest of the phone is a fairly flexible plastic.

I got my note 2 replaced!!! Lucky Me!!! The service center was arguing that its a slight bend so no problem sir!! I went mad and shouted at the tip of my voice spoke to the GM of my city!! Got a new Phone!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::angel:
