TSM UKB II 1.3.1 question/issue - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

RESOLVED, see reply below
I didn't see a dedicated UKB Q&A Thread. And I don't want to clutter the dev thread. If my search-fu is weak, please let me know, gently... so here we go
I followed the typical procedure with an additional step for the patch:
1. Download rom and move to sdcard
2. Make a backup
3. Wipe Data
4. Install rom
4a. Install Patch
5. Reboot
The problem happens after all the steps are complete and the phone is done booting. The first thing I try and do after the system settles is launch Titanium BU (paid) and start restoring apps. However the system doesn't seem to be able to see the microsd card. The same card where I successfully copied the new rom, backed up UKB 1.1, and installed from. I also tried Dropbox and Root Explorer, and neither can see the card. At first I thought it was the 32GB I switched to, but it even happens with the 16GB card I had in the phone before. Both cards are Sandisk class 4.
I went back to my UKB 1.1 install for now. And will be trying a reflash shortly.
Any thoughts?

Resolved
Seems that even choosing to "de-install" all apps during ROM installation. Titanium Back-up still shows up after installing the ROM.
I uninstalled TB installed with the ROM, and reinstalled from the market and it seems to be better.

Upgrading to 2.29.405.5 (Possibility of buying new sdcard)

Hello,
I am thinking of upgrading to 2.29.405.5 from 2.29.405.2.
My device came non-branded when I bought it.
The only thing i've done is that I 've rooted it.
What are the steps that I should follow to upgrade?
Should I update using the update available through my device(via WiFi) or download to my pc and then transfer it via usb?
I am thinking of buying an 8GB card, is there any way to copy all the content from the old to the new one, without having to unistall sth? (I haven't used app2sd or apps like that).
Also, to get this right, what app2sd does actually? Allows me to use a partition of my sd card as an extra space to install apks, as the space available in the device?
Thank you for your time!
If you are rooted never use the OTA updates. Either use a RUU and root again or flash a .405.5 based custom rom. If you never used A2SD+ (the one with ext partition) you can just copy all files from one card to the other. (make sure you also copy the hidden files).
Here you can find some more info about A2SD
Thank you for your reply!
I've checked my files and found that I have downloaded this:
"RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed"
It should be from a link found at the forums here..
Should I install this one? I don't have to unroot?
A RUU will unroot your phone, but why not flash a custom rom?
If you want to stay close to the stock rom just flash Leedroid
I thought I 've read somewhere in the forums, that upgrading a rooted device will cause a brick. Is that correct? Or this happens via OTA updates?
Is Leedroid similar to sense style?
I am not familiar to all this, but I am willing to try, as long as my device will not be bricked!
Also does Leedroid support greek localization?
Upgrading via OTA causes problems for some people. But since you wanna flash the ROM using RUU, it won't cause any problems, you have to root it again, as said before.
Leedroid IS a sense rom, check out the Desire android developement sub-forum.
For greek localization - if the Eλληνικά is for Hellenic, then yes, LeeDroid supports it .
Yes Eλληνικά is for Hellenic
I visited the Leedroid site and saw that there are some problems at the versions 2.3a-c..
Is 2.3d a more stable one?
I know that, anything isn't perferct, but leaving original rom for a custom one and having problems with it doesn't sound good to me.. :-S
With Leedroid will I be able to use market and all the applications I used?
In example, I have already backed up, my apks with Titanium backup and my SMS with SMS Backup&Restore, will I be able to restore EVERYTHING with these 2 applications to the Leedroim rom?
For the above question I 've found here this: "Not booting / Stuck after boot animation – Allow the phone time to boot after flashing. Sometimes it can take up to 5 minutes. Also don’t restore system settings using Titanium. It can cause faults (unless you want to take the risk, ONLY restore items in GREEN colour font)"
I have stopped to follow the Leedroid thread, but most of the issues are user related and not rom. So if you do a full wipe and only restore data apps (the green once) with titanium you should not have any issues.
With the Leedroid you will be able to do anything the 405.5 stock sense can do plus a bit extra.
Yes titanium is good to back up your apps, no idea about sms backup since it's not important to me. Also you home screen settings will be gone and you need to re-enter your email accounts (maybe you can also backup email accounts with titanium). However, this would also happen if you use a RUU.
If you want to flash leedroid, I assume you are rooted with unrevoked and have Clockworkmod as recovery image?
If yes:
Download this
Put it on the sd card (not in any folder)
Boot in to recovery
Nandroid (backup)
Wipe data/factory reset (this will wipe all data on the phone, the sd remains untouched), wipe cache and under advanced wipe dalvik cache
Select "install zip form sd" chose Leedroid and let it install.
This will install the noA2SD version, if you want more space for apps look in to making a ext partition on your sd card and use this file instead.
2.3d is a stable one. And some functions are working better for me as on the stock 2.2!!!
So far, no problems/freezes etc.
Market is installed, I can assure you can use it.
Titanium backup is working too (however not tried SMS backup - but it should work)
I only backup the apps that I use(d) + the data for it and the so-called "green colored settings" and TI always restored it without problems.
Thank you both for your replies!
You really encourage me to try leedroid
What is the choice at titanium backup batch processes that will backup up the applications installed with their data?
Also, I 've been reading about this so called "radio", if I 've understood well, this is responsible for the call, sms, mms recieving and sending or I am completely wrong?
If I install leedroid (the no-a2sd version) shouldn't I install a radio as well?
When should I do that? Which one? (the latest found here -> 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27 ?)
To see if I am pretty sure of what I am going to do exactly:
* Download this -> trying to, getting a (5xx) error :S
* Put it on the sd card (not in any folder) ->with the name it comes? Or renaming it to "update.zip"?
* Boot in to recovery -> holding vol (-) button untill it boots to recovery, right?
* Nandroid (backup) - > select it through the choices available there..
* Wipe data/factory reset (this will wipe all data on the phone, the sd remains untouched), wipe cache and under advanced wipe dalvik cache -> select it through the choices available there..
* Select "install zip form sd" chose Leedroid and let it install.
After selecting install, what should I expect? (waiting time, etc.)
The batch process is backup all user apps + system data, and there you should uncheck the "red ones". You notice that it has the largest number on the right.
You can update the radio whenever you want, but I did after installing LeeDroid (the same way you install as the custom ROM) and no error. I am using the radio in my signature, but used 5.11.05.27 before, so I recommend to stick with that for a while.
1. The noa2sd file : LD2.3dNoa2sd
2. You don't have to rename it. Works with any name.
3. Yes
4. Yes, it is stored under backup & restore under Clockworkmod
5. correct
After install you should expect the device to rebuild the system/cache etc. - for me it took 5 mins approx, then it boots up to the home screen if everything is working correctly
Ok, so updating the radio is to be done after installing the Leedroid rom!
At last (after some tries to get the download working I started dling the file).
I might give it a try today
Will reply here, if I need any help!
Thank you very much for your help!
Careful when updating radio, this is one off the things that can brick your phone. Check md5 and don't interrupt the the process. If you don't feel comfortable updating radio, it's not essential.

Could you explain me what is the radio? :-S
By wiping data and installing a new rom, won't it be needed to update the radio? :S
Wouldn't it be deleted by the wiping process? If no, then why to update it?
As I see now the version of radio I have is:
32.49.00.32U_52.11.05.27
PS: I've already upgraded to 2.29.405.5.
As you said earlier, the radio
is responsible for the call, sms, mms recieving and sending

So basically it controlls the mobile network transmitter, bluetooth, wifi, etc.
And no, it won't get deleted when you do a full wipe!
Your radio is alright - I had the same when installing LD 2.3d and it will work on it 100%, so no update needed!
I really thought that it would delete everything along with the radio.. :S I still have much to learn
I finally downloaded the leedroid rom
Hello again,
I bought an 8GB class 6 microSD today.
And thinking of creating the partitions so that I can use the SD as internal memory.
Is that right?
Is there any tutorial I can read to understand this feature?
What should I do to create the partitions needed?
Thank you.
Read the first post of the ROM thread, it tells you what you need to have setup.
Then Google videos on GPartEd and use that to partition your SD card. Or just search the forum as it's been covered loads already
I know that it has been covered already. I just asked links because I am not 100% sure of what I am looking for. :S
Will look and reply here. Thank you.
Is this thread helpful for what I exactly need? :S
Also, I 've connected my mobile to the PC via USB and the icon at the "My Computer" window looks disabled. I double click on it but it says "Insert a disk at this unit...".
Could somebody please help me to prepare my 8GB microsd for the ext partitions...I haven't done this again and I am new to this..
Also any link to a tutorial would be appreciated.
Thank you!

[Q] Is a cleaner microSD card possible?

I'm 2 days new to this whole rooting thing, I successfully rooted my phone & installed a nice ROM. I have a couple of questions regarding the micro SD card if anyone is able to help, thanks! (8gb)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144447 < Currently running this rom if it matters..
1. I was wondering after a ROM is installed, does it need to remain on the microSD card?
2. Am I able to have more than 1 ROM stored on a SD card?
3. If I'm able to have multiple ROM's on the SD card, do they need to remain on the root of the card, or am I able to put them in a folder just out of neatness sake?
4. Also, if I'm able to have multiple ROM's on the SC card, is the app ROM Manager able to switch back & forth at will?
1 No once you flash the rom you can delete the rom zip file(s).
2 Yes you can have multiple zip files or you can make nandroids.
3 You can put them in whatever folder you like. I made a folder called custom roms and themes and kernels
4 nandroids unless you want to freshly install them
but bro I recommend you get amon RA as a recovery amon-ra is 100 times better than clockwordmod
to install amon-ra just download this
http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...iles.androidspin.com/downloa...le=PC36IMG.zip
drag it to sd card and go to into bootloader thern fastboot and it should say update

1, no, you can delete the downloaded roms from your SD card after flashing
2, yes, you can store as many (rom).zip(s) on your SD as you'd like.
3, you can move them to any folder that you'd like...I kept mine in a self made folder called Roms, which was then separated into sub folders for organization of specific roms and their themes/mods
4, unless switching from nandroid backups, which must be stored where Rom manager puts them, you can certainly fresh-flash roms from your customized folder of original (rom.zip(s))
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
And to answer ur next future question, no u can not restore nandroids made by cwm with amon RA or vice versa
Sentt from mmy pockett
Thanks for all the speedy responses! Um, but I'm still new to everything, so what is a nandroid?
--
Nevermind, that's what Google is for, can't use everyone's knowledge for free! Lol, but when organizing your SC card, is there a certain way you organize your folders for music & pics & videos? Thanks again!
its when you make a backup of your rom
For instance I make a backup of decks rom with all my games and apps and themes and kernels and I decide to try out a new rom like MIUI so i go into my recovery (amon-ra) and click backup and it makes a nandroid ....
then i delete all my user data and cache and davlik so I flash miui but and I don't like it so I go back to amon-ra and click click restore and i restore my nandroid and then it will resotre everything u had before u flahsed miui when u had decks rom
all your apps games kernel theme and it works on every rom
Here's a suggestion.
On my SD Card, I made a folder and named it XDA.
In that, I made sub-folders named Apps, Drivers, ROMs, Kernels, Utilities, ROOT Files, Themes, and maybe a few others, so I can store everything I need.
The only ROMS in my ROMS folder now are MikG2.2, MIUI 1.7, Synergy RC1 and Koni III, although I've flashed and ran just about everyone there is. Those just happen to be most current and Koni's is a stable ROM I can depend on, if I ever need it.
Same with Nandroids. Mine are renamed by adding to the end of the computer generated name _mikG_2_2_complete, meaning that is completely setup, or _bare, meaning that is before I set my apps back, prefs, etc.
Anything that is obsolete, I delete, so I have 4 nandroids now, stock/rooted, MikG bare and MikG complete, also Synergy complete, the ROM I Came from before I flashed MikG last night

[Q] The process.android.XXXX has quit...

Hi
this is my first post, apologies if I'm going about things the wrong way. I've searched the forum and Google for the problem I'm experiencing but the hits I get back are for specific error and processes. My problem is this:
Flashing to Aurora or Runnymede results in my phone throwing up "the process android com.process.xxxx has stopped unexpectedly, please try again", they vary with HTC and Google errors. I get a lot of these errors (phone, camera, media etc) and then a blank HTC whitescreen. I get signal, however if I unlock my screen the errors pop up - I cannot do anything on my phone at all.
My device is S-OFF. I've successfully flashed MIUI and Cyanogenmod many times without error, and they work without a hitch. I've a feeling that with these Sense roms I'm missing some pre-installation procedure of which I simply cannot find what. What do i need to do to get either of these ROMS working?
Thanks for the help!
Edit: I have installed an app that moved certain items to the SD card that were taking up space on the internal memory. Not sure if this has anything to do with it?

It probably is your problem. The roms you tried has some kind of apps2sd implementation already check the rom thread. Technically you don't have to use any app that move your apps to SD.
I will try that out tomorrow when I have some time.
NOw that I've restored my miui backup, I have noticed that same error pops up when the phone loads and I have to run the App, then the errors disappear. I'll post back tomorrow with my efforts!
Out of curiosity, what's the name of that app you are using to move apps to sd?
Root All to Data2SD (cant post links). I'm finding it difficult to move all the items back to the internal memory.
Just from the description of the app, it seems that it will screw up the set up.
Start fresh. Backup all your apps using Titanium Backup. Copy and save all the contents of your sd to a computer. I suggest you zip the titanium backup folder on your sd before transferring it to your computer, I often get errors about the filenames inside the folder being too long with Windows7 if they are unzipped.
Repartition your sd card with fat32 and ext4 or ext3 (depending on the rom requirement)
Put your files back to the SD card and unzip the titanium backup folder as well.
Flash the rom and restore your apps using titanium backup. Do the app restore by batches. The apps should be moved to the ext partition automatically. Check the rom thread for details on the apps2sd implementation they used. Some require to flash another zip after the initial boot. Just check the thread.

Pretty sure I did, which is why this is baffling me. I would've thought that flashing a new rom would replace all pre-existing required applications
To confirm, in Recovery its Wipe Data/Factory Reset?
Performing a full wipe before flashing has worked! I can get into these ROMs now finally! Thanks for the help!
I feel like an idiot
Nice.
I had the same issues many months back. I was going from LeeDROiD Froyo ROM to InsertCoin GB. No matter how many times I flashed, I got same results as you. Then someone aksed "did you full wipe"?
After that, no more problems!!

[Q] [HELP] Can't install .apk's from SD after unofficial Cyanogen Mod 10.1

I don't know if this is a known issue, nor if I'm in the right forum. Yesterday I flashed Unofficial Cyanogenmod 10.1. It was working pretty good. I then proceeded to install my .apk's. I installed only two, Temple Run & Temple Run 2. After those, I tried to install everything else, but it wouldn't let me. Every time I pressed "Install" the phone restarts. I tried to do it via a File Manager and Airdroid, still the same result; phone restarting. Aside from that, I installed App2SD and when I tried to move to SD it restarted.
I did the obvious things.
Remove SD and reinsert
Unmount and Mount SD Card
Swith phone off, switch it back on
Formatting the whole SD/Erasing the whole thing
I don't want to flash the rom again, since it would erase everything,
Is there possibly any other ways? Please help.
Isn't the ROM blocking you from installing with the "Security->Unknown sources" unticked? Might be a silly thought, but it is possible, that you haven't allowed the ROM to install from non-Market sources. I'm looking forward to your reply, if it fixed your problem or not. Try and tick it :silly:
Did you full wipe when flashing CM10.1? What ROM were you using before? You could try dirty-flashing (only wiping cache and dalvik) the same ROM and version again, but if that doesn't fix it I would do a full wipe and reflash. You can always back up apps with Titanium Backup or something similar and restore them.

[Q] help recovering with TWRP after failed ROM flash

I've found myself stuck trying to flash a ROM. I'm a newbie, this was my first attempt at something like this, I though I read enough about the process but I guess I screwed up something. I will try to be to the point.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T i747
Rooted phone with Casual, installed ROM Toolbox and purchased the pro upgrade.
installed TWRP 2.5 and made a nandroid backup, the only place this backup existed was in internal storage.
used ROM toolbox to backup user apps and user data
selected cyanogenmod 10.1 RC5 from within ROM Toolbox and there was a requester for gapps and a checked the box for that also. When the DL was complete I installed the ROM queue with those two items and I checked the boxes Wipe Data & Cache and Wipe dalvic-cache.
Phone went to recovery mode (i guess) and appeared to clear the memory and load the new rom, the phone rebooted and I got the cyanogenmod boot screen but then it went to a requester saying:
Unfortunately , the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.
When you hit ok you get:
Unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped.
this requester never goes away, just keeps popping up when you hit ok.
So I removed the battery and booted the phone in recovery mode and try to restore but the restore nandroid file in not shown. If I hit the center button in the restore window it says "updating partition details" but never returns.
Whenever you power it up normally now you end up in this gapps loop.
My searching suggested I may have tried to install the wrong version of google apps somehow. What are my options for trying to recover from this? Does my backup still exist somewhere?
If process.gapps is your only warning you can try to reflash the gapps zip from here. http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip If this does not fix your problem, you will have to head deeper into the rabbit hold
You can look for your back with a file explorer. Should be in sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/******** (random number). If you dont see them here, check your ext-sd in the same location. If you don't see them, they are gone. Do a Nandroid backup now just to be sure you have one. You should chose to back it up to external in TWRP. As for your FC problem, it would appear that you have not wiped fully. You will likely need to factory reset. the problem is this will remove everything. Titanium back up is a great product for situations like this. If you have used it, you can transfer your backup from the internal storage while connected to your pc. Also copy your DCIM folder as it will contain your photos. This is why you will need to do another Nandroid, because worst case scenario, you can just restore this one.
Thanks for the reply. I will try to reflash the gapps file from the external as soon I can download it, the site is having some trouble right now. I made another Nandroid of the phones current state and stored it to external. I did also have Titanium backup and had backups of the whole system with it. Unfortunately they are also only on the internal storage.
Re-installing the gapps zip file off the extSD from within TWRP did the trick. All the data and backups I created are also still there and are now backed up in several places.
Something that compounded the problem was the 64GB sd card I have for the phone. I was not able to mount it on either of my linux mint machines or an XP machine. Some oddness with the exFAT file system on it, I used a 4GB card I had laying around and it worked fine.
Thank you for the help, the phone is now running CM which is what I wanted and I learned a few things too.

I just bought a 64GB card as well. You may be having troubles mounting it due to a partition that comes factory in the SD. If this is the case, you can look at post #57 on the following page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915385&page=6
It helped me tremendously.
