Just curious. how are you experiencing the NFC performance?
- distance at witch it works
- types of tags recognized?
I ordered two xperia smarttags from amazon, I'll let you know when I try them out.

Also looking forward to your feedback.
Thanks in advance.

After installing two Sony apps, I just had to swipe the tag on the back of the phone to go to the tag settings:
As you can see different actions can be set to be automatically executed whenever the mode is turned on (smarttag) or off (manually). The actions available are:
Turn bluetooth on/off
Turn cellular data on/off
Turn wi-fi on/off
connect to a specified bluetooth device (headset for example)
launch an app
open a webpage
make a phone call
send an sms/mms
post a FB message
speak current time
speak messages
set sound mode (normal, silent, loud)
set volume settings for media, ringtone/notifications and alarms.
The tags are detected from ~2cm and they still work when my TPU case is on. The back cover should be on in order to get NFC to work so anyone who's planning on using third party covers should make sure that they are NFC-enabled.
One more thing, NFC won't work when the screen is off neither on the lockscreen. I guess this is how NFC work in android in order to increase security (but I remember reading somewhere on xda that there is a workaround for rooted devices).
I hope that this little review helped you.

I am trying to set up some NFC tag actions using my Galaxy Nexus running stock ICS 4.02. I am using the pro version of NFC Task Launcher. Right now I can create a shortcut to launch a program via NFC, but I want to do more. For example, I want to create an NFC tag in my living room that will execute a Wake On LAN command. Right now, I have the option to launch the WOL program, but then I have to click a button on the screen, which is such a pain. I think I can do what I want using the Custom command line option which should "open a specific activity within an app", but I don't know how to figure out the custom activity command. This command would be formatted like "com.google.android.talk.BuddyListCombo", which I found in reference to Google Talk. How can I figure out custom commands for different programs? Thanks.
I beleive that you will have two choices.
1. Contact the application developer.
2. Launch application from Eclipse, then you will see the intent.
Or is there anybody else that has a better solution?

Click to collapse
That would be my suggestions too.
Did you solve this, even setting profiles app picker

Hi everybody, let me present you SpyKit, and app designed for taking spy pictures in a very simple yet powerful way!
The motivation was to address the main problems in most of the existing spy cameras: lack of polisheness and counter intuitive user interfaces.
Right now this is the only spy camera that works when you screen is truly turned off!
How to use it?
The first thing you have to do is activate it through the main switch in the upper right corner. You can also put a widget in your desktop for quickly enable it.
Then there two ways you can use the app:
-> Using your device buttons. (PLAY, PAUSE, VOLUME UP/DOWN)
By default all buttons are mapped to the Single Picture Action.
-> Using the Motion Detection feature.
By default motion detection is mapped to the Continuous Shooting Action
You, of course, can change this mappings at the settings screen.
SpyKit, by default, displays a floating preview which you can drag and resize as you like. It allows you to keep using your other apps while the preview is active!.
If you don't want the preview to be shown, you can disable it at the settings screen.

We are trying to make a good quality app and we would love to hear what you think what we have built so far, from new ideas to even translation things (we are not native english speakers).
Thank you all!
The Android Device manager. And the service has been finally launched.
The service helps you track your lost Android Phone over a real time map. Even you could make your phone ring remotely and even clear and wipe all the private data in case of a theft remotely, so that your data is kept private and safe. To use the service head over to the Android Device Manager website. There you can select your device from the list of recent devices that you have used with your Account, and then it will try to find your device on GPS. It will remotely turn on the GPS and once it connects to the device, it will start showing the exact location of your device on a map.
Once the device is located you could also make it ring, which is for the use if you have simply misplaced it and it is not a case of theft. And the phone continues to ring for 5 minutes on full volume, to turn it off you need to press the power button on the phone. And if you still can’t find it , you have a safe option to remove all your private data, so that it does not go into unsafe hands. To enable wipe phone data you have to go to the google settings app and under Android Device Manager enable allow factory reset
So the app looks good as off now, lets hope that they introduce some more interactive features to make the service more handy and useful to the cause.

I got one of these yesterday. They are fairly cheap now at around $30. Creating this thread for anyone curious if it is fully compatible with Moto G, and it appears so. Tested with GPE 5.1 firmware.
Benefits over Xiaomi Mi Band ($20):
Looks good
Music Controls (Requires Xperia Music app) (Install manually to /system/app/Sony_Music)
Additional Smart Controls - Answer call, enable speakerphone etc (Untested)Drawbacks against Xiaomi Mi Band:
Most people say not as accurate
Conclusion:
After a few days I returned this SmartBand. The main reason was that I have little interest in activity tracking, and as another way to interact with my phone it is cumbersome. This Sony device is more of Lifestyle Tracker than Activity Tracker. If you already use many Sony products; TV, PlayStation etc - you may see more value in this SmartBand. The band can be re-purposed to trigger apps to launch or certain activities to occur if you use Tasker or similar. I found tapping too much work, but the button could be used to create three different actions. For example; double-click to wake phone, launch camera, take a picture and put phone to sleep again.
Issues: (Experienced on Android 5.1)
The software for this device, Lifelog, while usable; also crashed consistently on Android 5.1. It's the only app I have had crash.
The Band cannot be used as a trusted device in Lollipop to unlock a Moto G because it does not remain listed after BT pairing. I'm unsure if Xiaomi Mi Band has the same problem.
The Sony Music app caused the common 'WiFi always on' issue in Lollipop. No way to stop this in app settings.
So I've been using the a neat feature on the 5T to disable network access on apps that chew up my data plan (specifically Spotify). I have a premium Spotify account and all my music is stored offline... Spotify doesn't need to waste my data to populate album art and lyrics.
This doesn't really play well when Spotify needs to check in with the mother ship on first start after a reboot.
Long story short, I'm trying to figure out a way I can invoke this option with either Tasker or a shell prompt. I've found that disabling background data modifies /data/system/netpolicy.xml. I'm just not sure if the setting is cached elsewhere and this file is used after boot.
I've also seen that I can disable ALL network access with the 'svc network enable/disable'... But this isn't quite what I'm looking for.

Have you tried data sever option? It can turn off background data for apps.

As seen in the attached screenshot above, I can do exactly as I need manually by toggling the 'Disabled DataUsage' option. I'm looking for a way to toggle this from either an intent action or shell command so I can essentially automate this with Tasker.
Basically, I will set up a script like this:
Open Spotify
->Tasker script starts
Enable cell data for Spotify
Wait 60 seconds
Disable cell data for Spotify
This leaves WiFi unaffected and won't waste my data plan.
