Hey, I just got around to installing CM10 (the latest non-nightly) on my phone, and I was trying to get Swiftkey 3 to work with my phone, but it won't complete installation. The issue is that when it tries to get me to enable Swiftkey 3 inside the app: basically when it tries to switch to the "Settings" app, Settings crashes. This happens 100% of the time. I have also tried manually going into the settings app (from outside Swiftkey's installation application) and enabling it automatically, but Swiftkey doesn't detect that I've done that (which is why I imagine they tell you to hit the "back" key after enabling Swiftkey).
If there's any way to get Swiftkey to work, I would really appreciate the help. I really love using Swiftkey, to the point where using the stock Android keyboard is difficult.

I have a Desire running HTC Sense, and I have just noticed that the home screen pinch has stopped working. Does anyone have any idea's why this would have stopped working?
The only apps I have installed that I think could effect it are the "Home Switcher" and "HelixLauncher2", but I am currently using the Sense launcher as my current and default one.
Thanks,
Rob
Mine stops working every now and then too (i'll bet you've lost pinch to zoom in google maps and photos too?)
A reboot will sort it out, but my money is on some app i've downloaded that screws with it once opened. I don't have the ones you mentioned.
It happens to me all the time when I switch to Android keyboard to use the speech to text functionality. When I switch back to the original keyboard it works fine.
Press 'Home' when on Main screen, does it work? If so, Looks like it may be a 'Pinch Gesture' issue. If not, A Home replacement App Possibly

Actually, that reminds me that i have swype installed - i'll bet that's what's stopping my pinch to zoom from working. I really don't miss it and would rather have Swype
Rebooting does fix it. I have Swype also so looks like that could be causing it.
My friend and I both have Swype installed and can confirm that this happens to us on a regular basis too.

even if Swype is not active? it effects the pinch to zoom? what do you do to fix it, change the keyboard layout to android one and than the pinch works or even with that sometimes it stays this way?
I have the same issue, with the home screen, photo's and browsing. Happend twice now, just reboot the phone and it's working fine for a while.
I too believe it's something I have downloaded, doesn't bother me that much and I can't be bothered trying to work out which app in might be. Maybe when I'm bored one day I'll have a look through.
I have the same issue when I have swype keybord activated. its intermittant, but annoying. and a re-boot always seems to fix it.
Not the same as I don't have that keyboard installed I do however have Smart keyboard pro.
Do you guys HAVE to reboot to fix it!!! I think just making any other keyboard the default (by press-holding, and selecting input method) would solve it!!
Interesting, because Swype + Desire port to the N1 doesn't have this problem.
I have the same issue, but I don't have swype installed. I have installed the Scandinavian keyboard with support for gestures tough. I have turned off gestures, going to see if that helps.
Regards,
PK
As far as I can tell, it happens whenever you change input method. So even changing from a 3rd party back to the HTC default will lose it. Reboot always fixes.
Mods, this is a common enough question that it might be worth stickying it? Seen about 5 threads in the last 2 weeks.

Exactly this.
If you change keyboards, just reboot and all pinch functionality will return. Annoying, but I don't change often enough to notice it. If you change and change back, then the pinch functionality remains without a reboot.

Not true on my device! Switching from HTC keyboard to Scandinavian keyboard by long press in any text field definitely breaks pinch-to-zoom (with or without gestures enabled in the Scandinavian keyboard). Switching back to HTC keyboard restores the pinch-to-zoom functionality in all applications.
Rebooting with Scandinavian keyboard enabled will cause pinch-to-zoom to work until a switch to HTC keyboard and back again is performed.
I'm a noob to Android, just got my Desire yesterday. I installed GOOGLES GOGGLES,GOOGLE MAPS and BATTERY WIDGET,and had the same pinch-problem. I uninstalled the apps again, problem solved. Didn't try to reboot though. But I'm glad to hear that the reboot will solve the problem, would be a shame if we couldn't have any apps installed without problems!
Hi Bros,
I used Battery Left widget and Swype keyboard. Anytime I restart my Desire, Swype does not enable by default but need to go to settings to enable it and change the input method accordingly, troublesome. And for Battery Left, after restart, the widget disappear, the widget on home screen show that no widget, try to add again the widget also cannot, need to uninstall and install it ... that happens for Battery Watcher also.
Anyone help me to fix it? thank you very much in advance
I don't know about the Battery Left prog, but re Swype you might try this:
Instead of going to Settings etc., when you want to send an email or a text do a long hold in the "Compose Text" area and then click on Input method. Select Touch Input, and then select Swype...
that should get you sorted.

thx bro. But it's not. Any time I restart my Desire, the Swype is not enabled and hence, you got no Input Method when press and hold Compose Text area. You need to enable Swype in Settings first, then press and hold Compose Text, choose Input and switch to Swype ... so troublesome.
Have you tried removing it and installing it again?

That would be the best bet, esp if you had Swype installed on Android 2.1..and left it there for 2.2. The installation of Froyo on my Desire blew Swype to blazes so I had to un-install and re-install. It's working fine since.
Swype works fine on my 2.2. I had to reinstall first time though but have tried many roms since without having to reinstall. It is always turned on when I reboot
I did uninstall and install again both apps many times, no use ... fed up so I forget about battery left, and only use swype, need to turn it on any time restart my phone.

The swype app is probably installed by your froyo A2SD settings to the SDcard. Move it back to your phone memory and it will remain as the default keyboard after you reboot.

the same for the battery left widget ;p
Hence one of the reason why A2SD+ is superior to Froyo A2SD.
In addition, no more manual swapping apps to SDcard, no more inability to access the apps when you connect to your PC via Disk Drive mode.
How do you disable the voice typing key on the Sense keyboard?
I have tried disabling the "Voice Search" app but it seems to get re-enabled after a while, automatically. (Have seen this before, after doing a system software update - it is now happening even without any updates.) and the voice-typing key comes back after a while, automatically.
This key is a real issue because I keep pressing it by mistake! It makes the keyboard incredibly annoying to use.
I am on android 4.0.4 with Sense 4.1.

I don't know about disabling it, but if you find the keypad very annoying have you tried an alternative?
SwiftKey
Swype
HackersKeyboard?
I haven't. I am looking for a solution that does not require me to install a 3rd party keyboard - I am concerned about privacy issues.

What privacy issues are you concerned about?
And fair enough I understand that, but to be honest that is your only solution.
I must say I have used swiftkey for a while now, and couldn't live without it, the predictions are almost genius, very nicely laid out (could have a couple of improvements) and the themes are ace !
Theres nothing to be concerned about.
Just got this phone about 2days ago, and loving it. I've never really liked the appearance of the Samsung keyboard so I have always been using the sleek & simple Google keyboard for a while now. Recently, every time I open up something new that activates the keybaord, it keeps switching back to that damn Sammy keybaord. Not rooted, don't plan to for awhile until I'm fully satisfied with this phone, so can't uninstall / disable the keybaord. I've tried turning it off in the Language & Input settings and leaving the Google keybaord as default.

Most likely this issue has to with the fact that some apps like certain keyboards are not yet fully compatible with the new 5.1.1 firmware in our s6edge+ phones. Try a different keyboard from the playstore.

So I just got a note 10 plus and noticed when using Chrome and typing using my voice when trying to correct the words the pop-up is white thus you cannot see the text. It seems to be only occurring in Chrome it is annoying cuz you cannot see any of the suggested words to correct. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this see the attached screenshot to see what I mean
Try using another keyboard or swiftkey theme to see if it is swiftkey that's causing this? I tried using voice to text in chrome, and tried to correct a word... Had no problem doing so (using Gboard though).
Otherwise try turning off dark mode, especially if you have it enabled in developer options. I tried forcing dark mode with the developer options and it caused problems like this with certain apps (messenger as an example).
