which version of clockwork mod do you have and which rom are you trying to install?

u have to watch which rom and which cwm. other roms are installed from cwm 2.5.x and other from 5.x etc
Taptapped from my little killer iPod 4G (;

ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1
I try install cm-7-120930-nighty-buzz from official site (zip) or Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 downloading by RomMenager 5.0.2.1
Can i flash by officjal ROM (upgrading hboot to 1.00.xx) ?! wher i can find oryginal rom (UE or PL) ?
Ihave Hboot 0.80.0002 - can i upgrade to 1.00.XX ?! where i can find a tutorial, ewerywhere is S-OFF 0.80.xx or 1.00.xx byc i cn't fing upgrade from 0.80.xx to 1.00.xx

So install cwm 5x as ur default cwm. Cm7 cannot be installed stright from cwm 2,5. Cwm 3 is required. The same situation is with cm9. u should flash then through rom mngr cwm5 etc. For cwm 2x u can install roms based on froyo and elder

what i can do that ?
I flash from RomMenager - Flash ClockworkMod Recovery->HTC Buzz (wildfire) or All ClockworkMod Recoveries->5.0.2
but on start boots to 2.5.0.1 ( from CMR option "reboot to recovery - boots to 5.0.2)
with my desire z wasn't so much problems - s-off, routing, flashing and its ok qwerty and on/off issue are another story.....

With rom manager you have a temporary recovery, I advise you to install a Cwm official 5.2.0 with the method pgm49.zip since you're Soff is very easy to use. Download the zip file from the index .... tread, you put it in the root of the sd reboot into fastboot and flash the recovery permanent, then install all roms you want

ok firstly place the 1st attachment in this message onto the root of your sdcard and boot into bootloader. it will ask you to update. select yes. then you will have the correct clockworkmod recovery for cm7+9+10. follow the usual install procedures. delete the pc49img.zip when you are done.
after that if you still want the 1.01.0001 hboot place the next attachment on your sdcard and rename it to just PC49IMG.zip then same again. reboot to bootloader and allow it to update. if you are s-off from xtc clip it will work without issue. if not it may not flash due to a cid error. in which case you will need to make a gold card and then re-attempt the flash.
good luck

ok follow these steps.
1.boot into recovery. do not use rom manager. please turn off the phone, then pull the battery out. then place it back in and hold volume down + power to boot into hboot. then using the volume buttons scroll down and use power to select recovery. rom manager has issues with the wildfire in my experience.....
2.go to wipe/factory reset.
3.wipe everything apart from your sdcard. so factory reset, wipe data, wipe cache.
4. back out of wipe and go to advanced.
5. wipe dalvik cache.
6.install cm7 rom.
7.flash gapps
8.reboot phone.
9 wait for 10 minutes max. if it has not booted come back to here.
you do not need to have hboot 1.0+ your hboot will do just fine

ROM Boot logo looping problem?

Hi guys.Every time I flash .zip with any rom on my HTC Desire , It installs fine. But when I restart the phone I can't pass the first boot.I Pass the first HTC white screen logo but then when the rom boot logo shows up , it keeps looping permanently. This happens with every rom ... What am I supposed to do to fix this ?
anyone ?
how do you flash the rom? with "install zip from sd"? from what recovery?
yeah, clockwerk rec
you don't have to wipe after flash.
I don't wipe after flashing the rom... I wipe before that ,
I just restart after I flashed it
Only this rom works... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054435
I have ext 4 - 1gb..
I want to run this Runny ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526831
Is it possible ??
Please tell me the process, the steps that you do. Are you s-off? Some roms need s-off.
my phone is with S-off
it's rooted
I have hboot 0.93
clockwerkmod recovery
1.I full wipe
2.install the .zip Runny Rom 5.5 from the SD Card
3.Installation complete
4.Restart the phone from the clockwerkmod recovery
5.The phone turns on , passes the HTC white screen , and the the ROM Boot Picture keeps looping...
?????
Did you do a full wipe by selecting advanced-> wipe /data /system etc., , all one by one? Try that and see if it helps. Don't forget to flash the ROM, though.
Gesendet von meinem HTC Desire
yes I did that... still the same s***
still not working... still looping the flashed rom boot
Upgrade your recovery to the 4EXT Recovery, then try again. Might work
Edit : does your cwm recovery contain the needed touch drivers ?

Try 4ext recovery: touch or classic. In the classic one's thread you fan find IMG file that you can flash through fastboot or with Android Flasher, that is easier.

I installed 4ext recovery classiv R6.. I enter the recovery.. wipe everything.. and it is still the same ROM Boot looping.. what else do I need ? I did everything in the requirement list...
rooted
S-off
ext4 sd 1gb
4ext recovery
stock Hboot...
Try redownloading the ROM, might be corrupt?
EDIT: Just realise you said any ROM so its very unlikely its that.
Or try a ROM without SD-Ext...

Reflash hboot, maybe switch to cm7r2.
Wipe all folders exept the ones your files are stored in.
---------- Post added at 11:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:30 AM ----------
Another problem could be the ext4 partition, if the steps above won't help, use 4ext to recreate ext4 partition.
I would do it like this :
Backup everything.
Change recovery to the latest 4EXT touch recovery.
Wipe everything including the sd card.
Start from scratch and also repartition the sd card within 4EXT recovery.
Copy the rom to sd and check the md5 within 4EXT recovery.
Flash it and boot up.
If this doesn't work than It's abacadabra to me !!!!!

I did all that , (the installation of the rom took longer)
but now I'm stuck at the white HTC boot screen
PS:It has passed to the ROM logo , but now it is just stuck .. not looping like before
Just wait .... it might take 5 to 10 minutes.

[UPDATED] 4eXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.5 RC9 as PB99IMG

Updated to the latest version, 4ext Recovery Touch v1.0.0.5 RC9
EDIT: No need to rename it now, just download and put on sdcard.
Edited because some people could not get it to work because renaming it was the hardest thing in the world :banghead:
All credits to Madmaxx for this great recovery....
Download PB99IMG.zip and put it on the root of ur sdcard (not in a folder) and then with ur phone off hold volume down + power. ur bootloader will look for the PB99IMG then ask u if u want to update recovery, volume up for YES, it will then ask you to reboot device, volume down for NO. Once its finished u now have 4ext recovery and just use volume buttons to navigate to recovery then press power button to enter recovery. I have tried it myself and it works, its the exact same method to install as Alpharev's hboots via PB99IMG.
Dont forget u must be S-OFF lol
Dont forget to delete it off sdcard once ur done or u will get asked to update everytime u enter bootloader
MD5 - 79496e1478ea56e33f3f2d90ac88adfe
(Also u can extract the PB99IMG.zip file and flash recovery.img via fastboot commands or android flasher)
phone asks to update, i have to start it with vol-up, but i have a little problem: my vol up button doesn't work, is there any other solution to start?

Hi guys. I tried all the instructions, but the problem persists .... I have PVT4 S OFF .... zip file will be installed through the bootloader but nothing changed and the desire to restart the htc logo .....
not sure what ya mean. the phone shouldnt boot unless u pressed reboot. once u have PB99IMG.zip on ur sdcard, hold volume down + power then bootloader will find PB99IMG and ask update recovery? volume up for yes, once its complete it asks u reboot device? press volume down for no then u will stay in bootloader menu and then press volume down to navigate to recovery n press power button to enter recovery. simples
i have tried it myself coz i wouldnt post it otherwise

I've got a problem which is similiar,
The Desire was rooted once through alpharev, custom romed and used for a couple of days. Afterwards the rom was crap and the user decided to get back to 2.2. I don't know how the user installed 2.2 stock froyo but it was up and running again.
Now Root is wanted again, so i installed CWM 5.0.2.0 through fastboot, i can access CWM but as i select a feature like for example "wipe data/factory reset" or "reboot system now" only the background of CWM persists and the blue menu vanishes.
Returning to normal mode just through pulling the battery.

Do i need to install another recovery like CWM Touch oder 4Ext? Any conclusion to this problem?

I would recommend 4ext recovery personaly. Anyway download the PB99IMG and rename it to just "PB99IMG.zip" put the PB99IMG.zip on ur sdcard, boot into bootloader (vol down + power) and it will ask to update recovery, vol up for YES then it will ask to reboot device, vol down for NO. Then boot into recovery. Check if the rom is on ur sdcard by selecting install from sdcard. Let me know what it says.
Or u can download a new rom of ur choice by searching Desire Android Development, if u do choose a new rom let me know what coz ul more than likely have to partition sdcard and change hboots.

Thank u for the quick reply. I'll try 4ext instead of cwm, but iam a little bit confused what the difference may be.
Iam familiar with rom installing and sdcard formatting with ext partition for more space, i just cannot install any rom.zip because the recovery doesn't let me access its features.

[Q] How to install BCM (ICS) on HTC Desire

Hi im trying to install the BCM rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403113) on my htc desire currently running cm7.2, but im a bit confused at this part:
This ROM needs at least 180mb on the /system partition. Best choice would be AplhaRev Data++ as it leaves some space on /data as well.

Does this mean that i cant just boot into recovery, do a full wipe, and install the rom for zip?
Could someone please give me a general guide of what to do in order to install this rom?
What is current status on your phone? Root, S-OFF, H-boot, ROM?

BCM Rom needs atleast 180mb on system partition so therefor u need to google alpharev (if ur s-off) and flash the downgrade.img then flash the hboot data++(180mb system) for that rom to work, then once u done that, boot into recovery, format all partitions except sdcard then wipe dalvick and install the rom.
Just be sure u have ur sdcard partitioned to whatever the dev requires.

So i would have to download and copy the zips for downgrader and data++ to the root of my sd card, then flash them with cwm. Then do a full wipe, and install the ROM?
Do you have any easier suggestions for a good and stable ICS ROM for the desire. Are sandvold, and nikez lente the same process?
If u use the PB99IMG method u will have to rename it from PB99IMG_downgrade.zip to just PB99IMG.zip then put it on the root of ur sdcard then with ur phone off, hold volume down + power and then bootloader will find PB99IMG and ask u to update. Volume up for yes, the ask to reboot device, volume down for no. Then just repeat the process with the data++ hboot zip. As recommending any ICS or JB roms... Well il have to pass coz im not a fan of them and there problems posted everyday on xda.
Edit: dont worry bout flashing the downgrade, as suggested by eddie, just flash the data++ hboot.

i assume you have not changed hboot before, therefore you are still on stock hboot. as far as i know you should not have to flash the downgrader first, because you do not need to downgrade stock.
therefore just download the PB99IMG_dataplus zip, and rename it to PB99IMG.zip (rename it exactly, case sensitive, and not PB99IMG.zip.zip)
then follow the instructions as jmcclue has already said. you do not flash the zips from recovery...
before you do any of this, please try to understand what the hboot partition tables are first, and why you would want to flash a different hboot: you are simply optimising your internal memory layout (reducing system size, therefore increasing data (internal memory))

-hold volume down and power down to boot into hboot
-hboot will find the PB99IMG.zip and ask to update
-press volume up to confirm
-reboot
-reboot into recovery
-do a full wipe
-install ICS rom from zip
When u boot into bootloader and when it asks u to update bootloder (PB99IMG) press volume up for yes. Bootloader will then ask u to reboot, press volume down for No. Then select recovery in the menu using volume down button to navigate, then once recovery is highlighted press power button to enter recovery then full wipe and then flash the rom.
Dont forget nandroid backup first

[Q] Revolutionary failed when trying to install Clockwork mode recovery

Hello,
today I decided to s-off, root, install different ROM,.. on my HTC Desire (GSM). I've started with Revolutionary software to do S-OFF and install Clockworkmod recovery but it didn't succed. S-OFF went fine (I can see that my phone is now S-OFF) but when it tried to install Clockworkmode recovery, it failed. Short message appeared for few second and there was written something like this:
Installing Clockworkmode recovery failed
attemp 2,...
Try to install Clovkworkmode recovery manually wia bootloader, fast bootloader

or something like that. I wasn't able to remember that.
Can you give me some advice what to do know and what happened?
Is it safe to install that recovery manualy now?
And one more question. I haven't unlocked bootloader before that because I haven't seen any ***LOCKED*** when I pressed volume "down + power button". Have I messed something?
Now my HBOOT changed to 6.93.1002 (from 0.9.0001)
Thank you guys!

Im not sure why the recovery installation failed, but based on the fact that the s-off went successfully everything should be fine.
I would recommend installing 4ext recovery. Its overall a better recovery for the desire, and the process of installing it is easier.
Download the apk on to your phone from here :http://www.4ext.net/
Then just install the apk, and and download + flash recovery...I dont remember the exact process, but you should be able to work it out since everything is done through the app itself rather than fastboot and whatnot.
Another way to install it is to put this zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751258 (dont rename it), onto the root of your sd card. Then boot into hboot (power+volume down) and wait a few seconds. It should find the PB99IMG.zip and ask if you want to install it. Select yes using volume up, and once its done reboot.
Thank you for assistance.
I've been searching on the internet for many hours and I was decided to use Unrewoked to root + instal Clockw.. But you recommend me 4ext which (I suppose) requires root. But I wanted to use unrewoked because it looks very easy to use. Would you recommend me some other simple way to achieve root? Because 4ext looks really good (I red about it before).
Btw, then how do I launch 4ext when I want to use it? It app, so I won't use "Vol. down + power", right? But then how can it install some ROM, backup,... when it's app which is launched AFTER android boots up?

you dont need to use unrevoked. Its probably better to install 4ext recovery, then flash a root zip in recovery (This will give you root).
You dont need to have root to install recovery-you just need s-off. Also the app isnt the recovery...it just installs the recovery and allows you to change settings and stuff. To launch recovery, you boot into hboot and select recovery. (nothing to do with the app)
This is what you need to do to install 4ext and root the phone (its pretty easy):
-Download this root file and put it on your sd card: http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip
-read the instructions in my last post to see how to install 4ext
-boot into hboot and choose recovery
-once 4ext is loaded choose install zip from sd card
-find the zip that you downloaded earlier and install it
-reboot the phone. You should see a superuser app in your app drawer.
Done. But 4ext shows me some message which I have to admit I don't understand. Can you explain it to me, please?
ATTN: recovery is in safe mode this is because the following partition is not accessible: "system"
Please enter the wipe menu and format system!
If you changed hboot you should choose to format all partitions (except sdcard)
Afterwards please reboot recovery.

And now I can install that 4ext .apk and control this recovery from the app?

How did you install 4ext? From the app or using the PB99IMG.zip?

ok so you dont need to install the app then.
The error isnt much of an issue...i get it sometimes too.
Try deleting the 4ext folder from the sdcard.
So you flashed the root zip as well?
So I have to update 4ext manualy wia .zip files? Where can I get them?
And if I can continue, can you explain me something? For exaplne one unnamed ROM has this req: Root + S-OFF (STOCK HBOOT)
I have Root + S-OFF but stock HBOOT is irelevant. What is stock HBOOT? Mine has changed when I S-ON -> S-OFF (0.93.0001 -> 6.93.1002)

Ok at this point everything is done with updating 4ext...forget about that. It is installed.
Have you ever flashed an hboot? Im guessing that you havent. In this case, you can just continue with flashing the rom of your choice.
Just make sure that before you flash the rom you go to the wipe menu in recovery and choose Format all partitions except sdcard.
Which rom are you flashing? Some roms require you to have an sd-ext partition and will not work unless you have one.
I would like to try for example this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131790
I've choosen this one because it requires a bit more that just download and install so I can learn more right away.
"Required: at least 512MB ext4 sd-ext partition"

So what about that HBOOT number? It will change everytime I wipe some ROM and install new one? Otherwise I don't understand which version of HBOOT I need.

Ok this is a good rom, its what i use. All you need to do is follow this guide :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37383522#post37383522 (Use the 4ext method and start at step 4)
Then flash the rom (full wipe, then flash), and once the rom has booted open terminal emulator and type these commands (press enter after each line):
su
a2sd install
y
n
y
Your hboot version wont change unless you flash a new one. For this rom you dont need a different hboot...stock is fine. Im using this rom right now with stock and it awesome.

If you have not changed your hboot anytime earlier then you are on stock hboot. The ROM should work just fine on stock hboot. Hboot doesnt change everytime you install new ROM.
You also need a ext4 partition and make sure you partition your sd card correctly using 4ext recovery or gparted.
It's working. Thank you both guys especialy chromium96 who saved me at the begining
One more question. When I type a2sd install and do move dalvik cachce to sd card, will it be removed when I click on "wipe dalvik cache" in 4ext? Because it's moved away.

when you wipe dalvik cache it will be rebuilt on the next boot.
I meant situation when you type a2sd install and write Y to allow relocate dalvik cache to sd card. This is what I've meant. If 4ext can wipe dalvik cache when it's relocated on sd card and not in phone memory.

what status of your phone bootloader...?
maybe you can try flashing another custom recovery like 4EXT or TWRP
download recovery.img 4EXT or TWRP
place recovery.img file in sdk/ adb folder on your computer
and flashing through FASTBOOT .. with command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
already have 4EXT or TWRP..then you can try wipe/ factory reset before installing rom again...
don't forget to flashing manually boot.img too after installing any custom rom if your bootloader status unlocked but still S-ON..
what du you mean status of your phone bootloader? I have unlocked bootloadern via HTCdev. Thats what you mean?
Havent still figured out if its S-ON. Dont not yet know what Son/off means. Will google it

yap..that's what i mean...
you can see the status of your bootloader when you're turn on your phone with hold volume down + power button then the phone will show up bootloader like locked or unlocked, s-on or s-off, hboot version, radio version, fastboot, recovery etc..
because of your phone unlocked via htcdev unlock..it seems the bootloader is still s-on..
so like what say before about your problem is...maybe you can try flashing another custom recovery like 4EXT recovery tuch or TWRP..choice one
after you have installing new recovery..then you can installing any custom rom but don't forget that you must always flashing manually boot.img too after every installing any custom rom before reboot the rom for the first time...
hopefully this can help..
jizzz... it dosnt seem like i ever gonna get this to work. I did flash the custom recovery 4ext and the cmd-line on the pc did say flash sucsess... But when i tried recovery i just got an white screen with htc-logo. Had to pull out the batteri to boot the mobile up again..
Edit: I got the TWPR working
Now i got installed the custom rom and everething is workin flawlessly (only memory shows 592, shouldnt it be 768?). THX alot for your help

Google a little bit. Part of ram that you don't see is used by android for a kernel to work.
