[MOD] Car mode USB cable resistance value - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
i just bought a passiv car cradle for my GN. I need the car mode and doesn't finde anything about the resistor value between the micro pin 4 and 5.
While searching for it, i just had that value for the galaxy s i900. But the 620kΩ resistor doesn't work for the GN.
Am I wrong with the resistor? Is there another method to get into the car mode?

Download a car home app and run the app.
There is no microusb car dock for the nexus, only a pogo pin car dock.

Car Dock Mode

I have bought myself a car mount for my phone, but what I would like to know is, What actually activates car dock mode on this phone? Some people said their should by a small magnet in the holder that activates a mag switch in the phone? Is that true or should I go into car dock mode manually every time?
it's true "their should by a small magnet..."
According to this page it is the USB cord that activates the car dock mode. It probably has some resistors from a pin to another pin, so that your device knows when to change to dock mode.
The fifth pin is grounded in the charger (actually this is the wiring in type A micro USB plugs, but with the form factor of type B micro USB). The better alternative is to use Google's car panel - you can set it to open itself when connected to your bluetooth handfree, you can have any navigation software launched by it and best of all - it works in landscape (a huge oversight on HTC's part).

[Q] How does the car dock work?

I have an existing car dock (just a holder) and usb cable. How can I trick my evo into thinking it is plugged into a car dock? Is it magnet based?
I don't think it's magnet based, but I think there's a circuit board in the bottom of the official car dock that tells the EVO when it's plugged into that, it's in THE offical car dock (I have one)
The Seidio car dock triggers Car Mode as well. I thought someone posted about it being magnet-based, but I could be wrong.
I think it's done through pins 4 and 5.

HOWTO - Enabling native Car mode

TL;DR: 10kOhm between ID and GND
Hi,
I just posted a Kidigi car dock fixed, and also investigated how car mode is enabled.
On previous devices I had, car mode was enabled by a small magnet in the dock, which triggered car dock (Motorola devices use this).
On HOX, this is enabled by puttin a 10kOhm resistor between GND and ID pins (they are adjacent).
Somebody could investigate what other resistances do - there will be at least a dock mode as well (I only tried that it is not activated by shorting those pins).
So if you want to make your car cradle activate car mode, you can mod your cable and get the full functionality of the original overpriced HTC @#$%.

Infuse 4g/ Galaxy SIII Vehicle Dock Charging Question

So I am planning on getting the Infuse dock for my S3. I want to hard-wire it in my truck so it is a clean install and wires are not everywhere. My options that I see right now are to splice in a cig lighter socket to the current one or the head unit power and then just plug in the car charger to that and run the wire behind the dash up to the mount.
I am assuming the power adapter that gets plugged into the cig lighter steps the power down from the 12v+ to the 3 or 4v to charge the phone correct? Or is this built into the part of the actual dock/mount that slides into the phone? If this is built into the dock/mount I could just run a wire straight down to the fuse panel and wire it in there without having to use a cig socket and adapter.
And another quick question....if I got a new head unit with a rear USB port I could just run a longer USB cable from the dock behind the dash to the rear input. Assuming this provides power, I could charge, use MTP, and stream pandora correct? Would this also replace Bluetooth hands free calling? I guess it would just be simple to pop the phone in the dock and have all those features and not have to worry about turning Bluetooth on and off and pairing. Plus I would assume audio quality would be better via a wired connection rather than Bluetooth.
Anyone?

The dock needs a micro usb connection, which is 5 volts. You have lots of options, from just plugging a micro usb car charger into the dock and lighter socket, to opening up that car charger and wiring direct to fuse box, to wiring a new lighter socket under the dash to the fuse box then getting the little adapter that looks like a rocket that plugs into a lighter socket and gives you a usb port. Combine that with a micro usb cable and poof. I did this last setup and it works great...

MHL to 3.5mm jack adapter? (So I only have to plug in 1 cable in my car)

Hello all,
I just purchased the ONE and as part of a promotion from T-MO US they gave me a free car adapter. I would like to hardwire the car adapter to my car, but the connection cable they gave me was just a Micro-USB charging cable.
I do not want to have to dock the phone then have to insert a 3.5mm headphone cable into the top of the phone and have wires running all over the inside the car.
I can modify the bootom of the dock to accept an MHL cable instead of Micro-USB, but I need to find a product that break off MHL into USB (hardwire for charging) and 3.5mm headphone jack that I can then plug into the back of my factory stereo behind the dashboard, thus only having to dock the phone and not have to plug anything else into it.
Any suggestions on such a product?
