Of course u lose the right for ota by rooting.
I'm also from HK
I think you can search for firmware from samfirmware

If you have root, just buy / install mobile odin and download roms from samfirmware. Advantage is that it can pre-root the roms before installation.

So I can flash one of those 4.1.1 stock roms on stock recovery? If so could you let me know how
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You can flash the otas in stock recovery if thats what you mean. But you have to be full stock UVALH2 first.
If you mean one of the roms based on those leaked otas then you have to flash with cwm or twrp.

Well I went to that website that was posted above and it showed 4.1.1. I am on complete stock uvlh2 right now. Just was wondering if and how you flash that or if I need to root and do it through CWM

Ok, first and just fyi, all of the files listed under OTA on that site are leaked, unofficial updates. Each has its own.....quirks. the only officially released ones are above the otas listed under firmware i believe. Only ics 4.0.4 are official builds.
The otas are basically patches, not full firmware. They patch existing files to update them to a newer release.
If you still want to go with the otas there are a few ways to do this.
The official way:
From full stock UVALH2 (no mods, debloating, modem must match, stock recovery, root is ok) boot into recovery and flash.
If previously rooted you can attempt to preserve root using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper.
Mobile Odin method (root required):
Get free Mobile Odin from xda, get full version on play store. (Full version will inject root during flash. I highly recommend this method)
Open Mobile Odin and choose OTA/Update.zip. Select the OTA you wish to flash. If pro version make sure EverRoot options are selected. Do not check wipe data, cache or dalvik. Press Flash Firmware and confirm to start the process.
CWM method (root required):
I have not fone this myself so try to confirm elsewhere the exact steps. Using latest cwm recovery, flash ota file and when asked do not flash recovery. When flashing is complete then flash a cwm flashable version of SuperSu/Superuser. Reboot.
After flashing any ota check for these files and if present delete or rename them. They rewrite stock recovery every boot.
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Thats it! If i missed anything please let me know, particularly with cwm method. Thx
Alternatively you can just flash a rom in dev section based on these otas.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

If you can't get it OTA then you can use Kies to get it.

imy phone was rooted and it wouldnt allow me to check ota updates as it said my device was modified, i flashed factory sammy firmware and status went back to normal but when i plug into kies it says "your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies" anyone else get this?

Actually, another question, the phone is from Wind but my cell service is with Virgin mobile, who is going to provide the ota update?

i got tired of waiting, wiped cache flashed the new factory tmobile 4.1.1 odexed rom. let it boot up and settle in. give it ten min. then flashed the 889v modem and works great (same data speeds before and after). if any one has any question or wants to see any screenies lemme know.
New tmobile build with wind modem. I just froze the tmobile bloatware with titanium

It does, had to root it to install cwm and flash everything but I have flashed factory firmware in the past that I downloaded from samsungs site and got it to read normal to check for ota updates.

if you dont mind, can you post some step by step instructions on how you did it? do you now have the multiview feature? thanks
Remember that the T889V is on an independent release cycle from the American models, or the I317M for that matter. If, and mostly when an official OTA will come is open to speculation.
I kitbashed myself something with the 7105 XXDLL1 Odin tarball, teshxx's updater script, a customized CSC file set, the full Polaris from the T889V stock ROM (the international one only has a viewer, don't forget to copy the libs), a modified build.prop along with a few Xposed framework mods. Works like a champ.

Well no since your device is modified.....you can easily uproot and get back ota updates....I personally think..using a deodexed rom is better...but that's just me

Sarge, are you sure about that? CF Autoroot installs a 4.1 recovery. Isn't having a non-stock recovery causing OTA updates to fail?
You can revert to stock recovery after you have rooted though.
When you get the OTA update you can (supposedly) use CF Root again to root the 4.3.
Yes Ranger ....sorry...
If you've got 4.3 then CF will give you the 4.1 3e recovery...and of course the step will fail....
If you are on the ATT version of the device with the 4.1.2 original rom then it will work..
The threads are getting mixed heavily with 4.3 official rom questions ...which we obviously don't have ....and this old guy gets them confused....
However ...
Since CF is modified for use with different carriers ...
Chainfire may have updated files for the 4.3+ users ...
I don't use them ...but it's worth a look ....g

The build is MH2, and currently the bootloader is locked on my SCH-I925, so I'm trying to see if there is a way to re-enable the phone app that Verizon disabled... is there another stock rom I can flash, or something?

I'm trying to find the same thing since my I925 is softbricked and in a bootloop. All I can do is put it in download mode. Do you by any chance know how to put it back to stock?
Yes, you need the stock firmware. But FYI: that's the note 10.1 2012... I was sold that thinking it was new one. I took it back. Just flash the stock firmware via odin. Let me see if I have it... But you can prolly find it in the forum...
