My G1 is closing in on four years and still looks brand new. My SII is closing in on 1 year and has 3 cracks in the bezel. This phone has been in a hard D30 case from the time it was purchased. It is cosmetic but I am disappointed.
Mines is suffering from the same thing. Going to try to get it replaced through warranty

Mate that's the ugliest case I've ever seen and I think girls would agree to that also. Also doesn't look very practical as the phone itself would probably be too big for a pair of female hands already.

If it doesn't fit the E970, as per the OP, then it will fit all other LGOG models. AT&T's E970 is the only one that has body dimensions different from other LGOG variants.
