Just wanted to hear people's thoughts on this keyboard for those who already have the Note II. Is it relatively quick and simple to switch between the normal keyboard and the one handed keyboard?

That's an interesting question - the answer is no.
The one handed keyboard settings is in settings -> one handed operation..
What you could do, however, is just install an alternate keyboard.
Switching between keyboards is easy - through the notification bar.

Does anyone have any recommendations of an alternative keyboard that is customizable? I love the new ICS keyboard for the most part but the bottom row. The space bar is too small and I want to get rid of the some keys like the settings button and period. I use double space to insert a period so the period button is pretty useless to me.
NVM, I realized you can get rid of the settings key in settings LOLOL. Ultra fail... Realized this 2 seconds after posting this thread. I am happy now, BEST KEYBOARD EVER!
I was wondering if there were any ICS keyboard mods out there? I really like the autocorrect abilities of the stock keyboard but i hate using a keyboard that doesn't have long press alternate keys.
right now i use swiftkey x, which does both but i've had a little better luck with the autocorrect of stock keyboard. I've also occasionally experienced stutter with swiftkey that wasn't happening with the stock keyboard.
it would also be cool to have the ability to customize smilies : )

Me too. Plus one on the "customizing smileys."
This is getting annoying!
I've installed Smart Keyboard PRO, and I am unable to select this as the default keyboard.
Usually I long press in a text box to select an alternative keyboard but it is not working. Any ideas?
Go into settings, language and keyboard to activate your other keyboard.
Then when using the normal keyboard you can swipe down from status bar and select input method.
Hope this makes sense.

i had already activated but didn't know to swipe down!
thanks a million
for you
First, install the keyboard and enable it in keyboard settings (slide to "on").
Second, when you are actually typing in a textbox of some sort, there should be a keyboard notification up at the top of the screen - if you select it, it will let you choose input, and you can select which keyboard to use.
Smart Keyboard Pro is fantastic for typing but horrible for predicting/fixing mistakes
Don`t forget to push thanks
Just curious while we're at this subject, I find the stock HTC keyboard in HOX to be weak in predicting as well. Have seen Galaxy Nexus's stock ICS keyboard instead and would prefer that.
Is there a way I can use the stock ICS keyboard on HOX? If yes, how can I download the stock ICS keyboard and install for use?

Is there anyway to change inputs methods on the fly so to speak? in my galaxy and galaxy s2 a long press would being up a menu and u would be able 2 change the input method by that but i have noticed that on the gs3 it doesnt give you that option. am i just missing something in the settings? the main reason i ask is b/c i manly use swype but sometimes with longer messages ill use the better keyboard and its kind of a hassle 2 have 2 go into settings and change it back and forth. thank you
I'm on stock S3 and also mainly using swype. I've noticed that while the swype keyboard is open, you can change the input method by pulling down on the notification bar. It's not as convenient as simply holding a button but since you're already texting and the keyboard is open, it's only an extra step to access on the fly.

thank you for that info, sewhuy! Adding that it indeed is there in the notification area no matter what your default keyboard is. I'm now doing this to change between SwiftKey and LastPass.....it's things like this that i hope they really focus on and improve in key lime pie .....long press in the text box indeed would be the best solution.
This Rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748818
has the mod that allows you to change input methods on the fly...
The rom is awesome, please check it out!
I love the one hand input keyboard on the Note 2; however, more often than not I am able to use two hands even in portrait mode. Is there a way to put a one hand toggle either in the notification bar toggles, or directly on the keyboard?
Currently I am having to click the settings button on the keyboard, then settings, then one hand input. In order to turn it on and off. By the time I do all this I could have fumbled my way around with one hand and written my message or URL.
Any tips on how to customize the toggles or keyboard to add this feature?
Using a third party launcher to create a custom shortcut (i personally like Nova) would probably be the easiest way

Can I create a shortcut that toggles the one hand input on and off? I know how to make shortcuts to folders and apps etc...
I am currently using Go Launcher if that helps.
So far I have been unable to find a way to make tasker do this as well.
