Tried to either root the ics or unbrick the phone with the guides listed here, but always failed. Then switched to a laptop and it just flew through it. And I find the problem is the desktop originally used has too many usb ports, and I happen to have the cable plugged in the add on usb card.

For all those who what to have their Gtab in their car and have both power and and HHD(USB) connected i have a simple concept.
Using the cable that connects the Galaxy tab to your power,add a switch that acually redirects the currect sent to the galaxy tab.and connect an extra female usb cable.No resistors needed no nothing :]
when using the USB the tab will not charge but i think it will have enought battery to play a few movies in the meanwhile.

Brilliant!...ly obvious and overcomplicated.
I was just wondering, the xperia play on ics does not ask what to do when a usb is plugged in to a PC. Personally this bothers me, and noticed that mostly every other phone has the option to choose i want to know if i can bring this bing this back?

i have used a Y OTG cable and it didn't charge the phone.
same cable on Nexus 4 charges.
I tried to hook up my new WD mypasseport ultra 1tb to my G4 via OTG but clearly the G4's is not providing enough power. Is there a way to boost USB power thanks to a custom kernel or it's impossible?
