[Q] Protective Shell for S3 Hyperion Battery Users? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys,
I recently installed the 4200mAh Hyperion battery into my S3 SGH-I747, but I'm having a slight issue. The battery works great and does exactly what it's advertised to do, however I'm having a serious issue trying to locate a protective shell for the phone now. I've had several people tell me that they are out there, but they don't seem to be able to direct me to where I can find one. I have been able to locate several 'stick-on' covers for them, but that's not what I'm looking for. The extra weight the battery adds make the phone feel like if it gets dropped, it's going to get destroyed. I have searched the forums to no avail, so I was hoping that someone might be able to give me some idea or where I can find them, or if they even exist. I have seen the Hyperion covers, but they appear to be silicone, and I was looking for something more along the line of a hard shell. If they do exist, cost is not an issue when it comes to protecting this phone, so please feel free to post anything you might know of. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Seidio offers a solution.
The Seidio Surface Extended Battery Door(battery cover). You will need this in order to use the Surface Extended Case + Holster(which is fantastic).
The door is $15 but can only be ordered through their customer service line as they haven't added it to the website just yet. But you can order the case and holster combo or just the case(snap case) that is molded to their battery door.($29). Expensive but it really is the only option if you want a really good case that fits naturally into a Seidio holster(if you want) or a case in general that isn't as bulky as the Hyperion one.
For screenshots and my review you can check out my thread:

Thank you for the reply. I checked out the cases and your thread. That's a lot more along the lines of what I'm looking fir.

can you please tell me howsthe backup of this battery...

The 4200mAh battery is hands down, the best thing I've done for my phone. I stream Pandora constantly while I'm in class, with that being said, I was in an hour and a half class yesterday morning. I streamed Pandora with the screen on the entire time and only had a battery drain of 4%. Talk time is severely increased as well.
Be aware that if you do get one, you're going to be adding some serious weight and mass to the phone. With the new back cover, thickness is increased by around a half an inch. It is noticeably heavier, but feels more solid. Hope this helps!

Took your advice and bought the Seidio extended battery covet and matching Active case. It has proven to be one of the best investments I've make regarding the phone. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for. I owe you one, bro.

Extended Batter Case.. anyone have these Seido Cases yet?

here is what I was thinking...
If you could cut out a hole in the Innocase 2 Surface, then another hole for the Rugged " skin... would the Rugged "Skeleton? fit?
On the first one you'll have to cut off the locking mechanism to the case. You wont be able to securely snap it on. Assuming the locking mec is in the middle of the two pieces. The second one will require you to cut off everything above the kickstand so the bottom half will not have be attached to the two top corner. I'll just fall off.
I do not see why you would have to cut the sides at all, the beck extends out, not the sides.
I considered doing this with my Incredible but never pulled the trigger. I thought it might be possible. I didn't have the extended battery to try it out.

Agreed.
Are you sure you have to do cutting?
No doubt seidio will come along with their case that fits their 3500mAh battery. Honestly I don't want an even larger battery adding bulk, the 2750mAh is fine.
I did contact HTCPeida shop and they replied back that they are working on a case for the ThunderBolt with extended battery. Of course they did say "it will take some time, but check back often". In the word of offshore manufacturing and low costs in china how hard can it be to get a TPU case with an opening in the back. Not that hard or so it seems it is.
Here is the seidio Evo 4G case http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd4-hkr5hev4x.htm
I bought the seido case that comes with all the piecesi linked (three total). It fits decently without the first layer, the camera flap has tobe removed or flipped under the rubber layer, and the kick stand is a bit difficult to use.
I emailed Seidio about their 3500mAh battery and of cases that would fit it. All I got was the typical reply, we do plan on offering it, but we do not have an eta at this time.

I would not buy the Seidio Battery. They get very bad reviews and I have sent two back.
You are better off with the original HTC Extended battery.
I had a post about this...
But I do hope Seidio does make this for the TB:

Will this fit on our phones? If so, Ill order that rather than trusting my hopefully steady handed cousin to do some dremel cutting. lol.
No. Look at the design of the extended cover, theirs is full and not just a little bump
I posted this else where but I figured it was relevant info to share here.
So, Ive been buggin the crap out of Seido with requests for them to make an extended case. Ive emailed them, dropped in on their thread here, and posted on their facebook. Today they responded to my FB post with this.
"Seidio commented on their Wall post.
Seidio wrote: "Hey, we're developing a rugged case for the thunderbolt. Let me get back to you later this week on extended cases for Surface and Active!""
Received this seconds ago:
"Seidio I got more accurate information for you. We are releasing a SURFACE extended and ACTIVE extended for use with the OEM extended battery for the Thunderbolt. You can sign up to [email protected] and we'll let you know when it releases!"
haha you just liked my comment LOL!
lol. So did Seido...lol
well heres hoping it releases soon because I am kind of concerned about the durability of my thunderbolt. also, my extended battery cover doesn't fit as flush as it would like. I wonder if I got a defective cover? go sharks!

Well, supposedly theres another one also coming out, and if they dont theres always doing the Frankencase.
Im thinking that the first batch of those covers sucked. Ive heard a lot about that but mine fits PERFECT even after I dropped my phone. My screen however cracked and pushes the need for one of these cases.
you cracked the screen? dang... i gotta be careful with mine. i assume your phone is still usable though?

[Q] Where to get an extended battery COVER

Does anyone know where i can find an extended battery cover similar to the one by seidio for my evo? I have an extended battery from amazon with the big cover and honestly i dont like it... seems like it isnt made for my evo. I just feel like the angle that it pops out of the back makes it look and feel awkward, and i especially hate the 4 bumps on the corners above the battery. Sometimes i have to push on the corners of the cover because i dont want dust geting in, and i feel like the added space other than the battery area is really unnecessary. So if it's possible, i would really love an extended battery back like the seidio one, preferably in a different cover(that would be fresh ), if anyone can help me find one!
Because the extended batteries all seem to have such different battery door covers, it's hard to say. I have been checking (and hoping) for seidio to make colored covers for the Evo for myself. The closest thing I found was on eBay. So try there for cases if you haven't already!
Good luck.
edited....i think I misunderstood your first post. If you are looking for the battery cover door though, ebay will probably still be your best bet.

I have an extra seidio one i can sell you, its marked up slightly though, and one prong is missing i believe, connects fine and is not loose at all
how much you selling it for
If I was you I would take his offer if its within reason. I actually bought my seido from the factory store online and broke a prong off mine accidentally and looked everywhere for just the door alone. Now this could have very easily changed but as of before xmas? Seido themselves did not sell the door alone much less best buy or amazon etc. You can find a replacement flat standard door pretty easy, but one for the extended seido? I had tough time. I actually got them to send me one no charge, but I had just spent like 200 bucks with them so.....gl
The Sedio cover won't fit the Amazon battery.
Yes it will and make me an offer on the door its an official seidio

Gorilla gadgets has extened battery covers. I got my battery from them.

Trident has new case that comes with extended battery available!

I have been wanting a extended batter for my dx but wanted a case that fit it right. Well Trident made that happen.
I have already bought this product and it is pretty nice. MY phone is pretty thick now but I actually find it easier to hold. I know a few people have also posted wanting something like this so check it out. Price isn't to bad either if you consider you are getting a good case and an extended battery.
xda won't let me post links yet so you will have to find it yourself. Its on cyclopscase<dot>com
Go to the website above, choose droid x on the left and then sort by highest price and it should be the first one.
t would be nice if they sold it without the battery too

Yeah it sucks when you already have the battery and want to buy the case.
On a good note though. WHen you're just at home for a long period of time, you can charge one battery and take it out and charge the other one. Then when you're out and about all day, bring both batteries with you and switch em out when one dies.
Well, the hard part for me is finding a case that works with larger batteries. Which is why it was a relief to find this, which has a case made just for the extended battery.
Isnt the Trident Electra Better than the cyclops? its 3200mh
*edit* nevermind.. I missread what you were looking at.
Trident is making the best stuff now
They passed otter box up ages ago
I would never buy another otter box product after I wrote them an email and they never had the professionalism to write me back.
They must be all about money and greed.

Seeking a case or bumper for extended battery pack

OK. The title says it...
I've become a huge fan of having an extended battery pack on my Note. The battery lasts almost all day with constant use. It's awesome.
My only problem is that I hate to roam around with a $700 phone that has NO case. I even used a razor blade and cut up a silicone case to "create" a bumper to protect the edges. However this hack isn't ideal.
I'm using the Hyperion Extended 5000 mah battery and I'm hoping to find a suitable case or bumper that will work with it. Has anyone tried using the Hyperion or another extended battery with a bumper on the market? Has it worked?
I've read in many other threads that people are looking for the same thing... However no one's made a thread about it.
Please post if you've found one or are also looking for one!
Mine should be here in 3 days. Also would like a good case for it. If not, I'll buy a sleeve for it
How u liking that massive battery? Feel like getting one since they are under 20 bucks.
Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
I really like it. The size would probably bother most people, but I'm 6'5 and it doesn't bother me at all. Just wish I could find a quality case for it.
I'm sure Hyperion will make a case for the extended battery like they always do. But they're always ugly imo. No case is as pretty as my zenus capsule

Case Mate for 2000Mah battery

Will this fit the samsung extend battery?
http://www.case-mate.com//Samsung-G...ate-Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-Pop-Cases-w-Stand.asp
It's such a tight fit that the phone is prone to pop out of it and if you drop it face down then it might not offer any protection. My case still stuck out over the glass a little bit but if it had been dropped it probably would have just fallen out of the case and the glass would still hit concrete - also what little was left sticking out would have made the smallest pebble hit the screen as well. I got the case you have free with the phone but couldn't keep using it because of those two things;
- That it didn't offer appropriate drop protection (which was awesome with that particular case prior.
- That it might just come out of the case too easily even if it did offer appropriate protection.
I went to a guy that had a pretty sizable mobile phone accessory stand in a shopping mall and he had a case for the normal gs2 battery that happens to fit the extendable battery. I'd go and ask people until you find someone that states having one that works and then trying it on. The first one I tried fit, but it was clear and I wanted black. He had the same one in black but when I tried it on at the shop it didn't line up properly like the clear one regardless of being the same case in a different colour; so that's my advise, is to find someone that will let you try a case at the shop, but be up front that you have the extendable battery. If they don't know what you're talking about when you tell them that, and that your phone is bigger as a result, then go elsewhere until you find something appropriate from someone who knows what they're getting into when they try it on your phone before buying.
it will fit if u dont use the back cover that is supplied with the 2000 mah battery
and it fits very thight so u dont have alot of trouble with dust comming into the battery compartment
its just a bit wierd if u show people that u dont have a back cover but iam using the case now for i think 4 months with the 2000 mah battery and having no troubles with it only thing that i dont like is that the case makes the phone fat but thats not because of the battery cos with the normal battery it feels the same
I'm using this case without any issues. Fits good.

there are multiple discussions going on, and this is what i know so far:
It fits very tightly in some situations.
It fits if you remove the back cover of your phone (so your battery is against the case)
Im getting the battery for my birthday soon so i hope it will fit my casemate tough case as i like it alot
