Hi all,
Yesterday i flasht a JB rom and noticed that the stock camera app doesn't take pictures as fast as the stock rom does.
How can i get all the features from the stock camera app in a custom rom ?
I saw something about flashing mods is there a mod that can do this for me on a non-sense custom rom like paranoid android JB ?
thanks in advance !!

non-sense roms never will have sense camera, and sense camera app uses a chip to take better photos, so without sense you'll have worse photos, no way to do anything i think

Look up JDR0iD's Rom. Not JB but ICS themed with stock camera. Only one that retains this feature.

Hi Guys,
Had my Gnex for a month or so now, but only just unlocked it and rooted.
I'm interested in putting a 4.0.3 Rom on but concerned about the camera issues etc
Has anyone built a stock 4.0.3 rom without any fancy enhancements etc? I've had a look but they all seem to have Trebuchet launcher, new lock enhancements, led coulour changers etc.
I'm looking for a rom that's as stock as possible but running 4.0.3
Thanks
Paul

what camera issues?
4.0.3 is not stock, it's AOSP...
4.0.2 is official stock for GSM..closest to stock you can find is ARHD 2.1.5

A lot of people in the Rom threads mention that the fast shutter no longer works in those roms - even with different Kernels etc.
I know 4.0.3 isn't stock - i asked if there was a 4.0.3 rom that's 'like' a stock rom.
ARHD is a 4.0.2 rom.....

ZSL or Fast Shutter is Google proprietary code, that's why you don't find it in AOSP
besides, proper behavior is seen in 4.0.3, not 4.0.1/2 where pictures were taken fast but out of focus.
Try the 4.0.4 GAPPS package, the camera re-introduces long-press to focus/shoot.
or try SlimICS

Hello guys
I came from Android 4.1.1 (stock), and moved to 4.2.1 (IceColdJelly - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052610).
Now i want to install my camera app from 4.1.1 (odexed) in 4.2.1 (deodexed), and its not just "apk install"
2 problems:
1. Camera.apk is odexed - how can i deodex it (or does someone have it deodexed somewhere)? I suppose it must be deodexed. Apk install gives this error:
C:\adb>adb install C:\Camera.apk
1324 KB/s (2808406 bytes in 2.070s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/Camera.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]

2. In ICJ (or JB in general?), camera is now part of the gallery (my camera app is the gallery app, and i have no camera.apk in my new rom. My plan is to install camera.apk from stock rom, and just use that apk, and then still use the gallery feature in 4.2.1, would that be possible (will the images from the camera show correctly up in the gallery)?
Attatched is the apk and odex file. Odex is zipped with no compression, due to upload restrictions, if anyone wants the files..
Kind Regards

Your camera.apk is from a Sense ROM and there is no way of making it work on ICJ or any AOSP ROM. It requires Sense framework to run and it is not present in any AOSP ROMs.
Hello TToivanen
Thanks. That kills this project i guess.. Well, i just find the camera app of the custom rom quite bad.. The camera was way better on the stock sense rom.. Any suggestions for a good JB camera app? Nothing fancy needed, just quick photos that are sharp.. :good:
Kind Regards
TwinAdk
Well I don't even use the camera that much, that's why I stick with the stock ICJ one. I guess you gotta try some of the apps in Play Store.
I tried multiple apps from the store, but i find the best app to be the stock one. A friend of mine having a HOX+ is on Cyanogenmod (no sure which rom specifically), and his camera app is WAY better than mine. Mine is stuttering when moving the phone, his is like seeing the world through the camera lens, no difference at all... Mine is certainly not.
Can anyone suggest a way of porting or installing a better (more smooth) camera app? Or suggest/supply one, ill get it in there myself
Kind Regards

you can install the mods that fit your rom not the sense ones
PhotoSphere and Burst mode
I've been using an AOSP ROM for a while now in my One X, and so far I'm really happy with it, the only things I miss is the photosphere (I had it running with the stock JB ROM) and the ability to take a series of quick photos by pressing and holding the camera button. Does any body knows If it's possible to enable any of these features trough any mod??
I've tried several of the KitKat Roms posted here but they all seem to have the same problem; the camcorder takes somewhat choppy videos, like it's skipping frames. Is there any way I could install the Touchwiz camera from a 4.3 Touchwiz rom on one of these KitKat 4.4 roms that seem based on the GPE, AOSP or Cyanogenmod? First, would this even work? Second, how would I do it? I'm thinking maybe I make a backup of the camera using ES File Explorer when I'm running a Touchwiz rom, then I flash the new KitKat rom and restore my camera backup there. Would that work?

Simply put, no. MAYBE on the GE ROMs. But definately not on AOSP or Cyanogen. Frameworks are way different.
Is their anyway to install the stock camera on a aosp slim ROM

There is no way you can flash/install the stock N900T Jellybean/kitkat
camera on any aosp/cyanogen type roms.
The stock camera has many dependencies which are only found in
jellybean/kitkat stock or stock based custom roms.
It's not a free standing APK which has no dependencies like all the
camera apps which we find at the playstore.
Good luck!
